This was incredibly entertaining; however, there was definitely a lot of "trashy" to this story. Like, it's not the kind of book I'm proud of, but I had so much fun reading.
1. The heroine is dumb. Now, I feel a little bad saying that because she says that about herself a LOT and I hate self-deprecation. But stay with me. She's got dyslexia and has a hard time learning. Because she grew up in an unsafe environment, she's gotten really good at reading people. The hero and all the good people around her tell her she's amazing. Her bosses at work promote her and tell her that she's got a special gift and they want her to use it to help their employees. They make her the head of HR and tell her to use her minions for the stuff she's bad at. That's cool and I loved how she keeps getting exposed to seeing how great she is. Her self-deprecation got old REAL fast. But there is some learning there so that was all right. But this has NO BEARING ON HOW DUMB SHE IS!
In the beginning of the book, the hero notices her light seems to have gone out and he doesn't know why she's unhappy. Turns out this woman who is the HEAD OF HR came home one day to find out her boyfriend had left and taken all of her money, gotten her evicted from her apartment, and took out credit in her name. What does she do? Does she call the police? NO!
She sells her car to try to pay off some of the debt and then lives in homeless shelters for a month. And on the pivotal day that the hero finally gets worried about her, she leaves her coat and phone charger at the office and DOESN'T go back there to get them even when she's rejected from the shelter that night!
Uh, what!? Make that make sense. She's the HEAD OF HR at a billions dollar company! I was yelling at her for several chapters.
2. The hero is AWESOME and I think he made me keep reading and be entertained more than I was frustrated by the heroine (and the author's choices). He's never met a woman he wanted before Janey. You know what this means!? He's a virgin! Yes! I love me a virgin hero.
And he's been pining after Janey. All of his friends and family know he's in love with Janey (except Janey). He's so adorable in how he wants to do everything for her. I loved him so much.
He's on the autism spectrum. Not sure how accurate the portrayal was, but I loved him. He was a delight.
3. The family of brothers was fun. I'll probably try the other books in this series because they were just so much fun to read. I love a group of supportive and loving men.

All in all, this book was higher stars because of the growth, the side characters, and the amazing hero. The heroine and her self-worth issues were a bit exhausting.
Safety deets
- Heroine has been with other men, including the douchebag that scammed her. Hero gets a little jealous of her enjoying other men's company, but there are no other men.
- Hero is a virgin.
- We see them happy and settled together by the end... and Janey starts seeing herself in a better light. Phew!
