When the world goes dark, Emily must rescue her son and niece from chaos, flee looters, and survive a brutal new reality. Guided by her father's prepper notes, they reach a hidden bunker, only to face betrayal, loss, and a daring rescue. In the ashes of collapse, they fight to rebuild and hold on to hope.
The story itself kept me interested. A couple of glitches that really stood out - Preston saying he killed but that never happened, the niece having her finger cut off but it never being treated or addressed then a mythical scar on her cheek at the end. There were times where things seem to get confusing as the story seemed to overlap itself and change. Could use a good edit but has good bones.
The worst of all possible worlds, intensified by the writer. For example, batteries (like AA's) would not be affected by an EMP, but he makes a big deal of them not working. Roads and cities fall physically apart in only 2 weeks. Seriously? And there are no good guys except our 3-member family of protagonists. I didn't make it through the book.
