I bounced between 4.75 and 5 i opted with 5.

I love this so much. I haven't read really any vampires book yet other then Blood Orange. To me, it was so different. I can't tell you how many times I've gasped and blushed and cried and laughed. Excellent. I am so glad this was my first ARC read. This book will go places. 🥰💖📚

Yeahhhhh….I read this in a single day and I have no regrets. This may be one of the best things I’ve read all year. The only thing I’m upset about it is that I didn’t get to go to her book signing when I had the opportunity, before I even read the book.

These characters were simply everything. They both shouldered so much pain, that they truly deserved each other to finally have someone to lean on. For someone to finally see them for what they were.

I loved Zelda. I was starving for a strong female heroine that wasn’t full of herself and saved the MMC. And WOW did this deliver. Zelda was just so different. She was so strong and had so many things working beyond the curtain. She stayed true to herself, was so compassionate, and gave the vibe that no matter how much she cared, she would do anything to protect Theo. I was absolutely living for it.

My heart broke for Theo. He went through so much and did was he absolutely had to do to survive. He quite literally had everything ripped away from him and was trying to carve his own way from the ground up. I thought his distrust was actually quite reasonable and I loved seeing him slowly open up to Zelda. How they slowly opened up to each other.

Overall, their relationship was absolutely everything. The spice was absolutely perfect, but the angst, the tension, and slow burn absolutely stole the show. I was living for the fated mates trope, or rather the tethering. I wasn’t expecting it and really just added to the story.

I am salivating waiting for the next installment and cannot wait to see where this goes.

11/10

5 stars! Please check trigger warnings before reading.
As an arc I pride myself on honesty; and I loved this. I love a morally grey FMC, because they are such a rarity and that’s exactly what Zelda is!
I loved the banter, this book had me flipping between emotions left and right. Which made this such an easy read!!
The world development is very good in the book IMO, there is so much depth and I absolutely love an enemy to lovers! I love that this story felt like the story of people, not characters, and I think that Breann has set the bar extremely high for the rest of the series! I cannot wait to see where this series goes from here!

This was such an atmospheric, immersive read!

The worldbuilding was fun to dig into and the character arcs felt lived in and genuine.

Watching Theo and Zelda pursue their own agendas and crash through their stories was fun and the push/pull was frustrating in the best possible way.

I loved that the side characters felt like actual people instead of props, which can be a side effect of this genre.

All in all a fantastic read and great series starter!

This one took me a while to get into. The world building just kept building even after the halfway mark. The characters were all interesting and I wish there were more POVs that weren't the main characters for more of their story. Some of the MCs' chapters did drag. Around the 80% mark the story did get so much more compelling and the ending was so good.

Absolutely captivating! Zelda and Theo’s story sucks you right in and the world surrounding them is well thought out and brutal. With heart wrenching plot points and a refreshingly morally grey fmc I loved every minute of exploring their thoughts, feelings, and love story. From the gut wrenching and realistic mental health struggles to funny quips and banter I was kicking my feet, grinning, and feeling my heart ache for them. Can’t wait to continue the series and see where these two go in the future!
