Poseidon's Warriors ##0.1

Halloween in Atlantis

Rate this book
A Halloween treat from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Alyssa Day.

Now that Atlantis has finally risen to take its place on the world stage, the Atlantean warriors are having to face some new and interesting dangers -- like Halloween parties.

Arrogant warrior Liam doesn't understand the beautiful, bubbly human whose entire function in life appears to be to plan parties, but he can’t seem to keep away from her, either. Jamie, who considers herself to be completely unflappable--the hallmark of a great event planner--doesn't understand why the far-too-serious Atlantean manages to get under her skin with every single encounter. Even if he is the sexiest man she has ever seen.

When the two of them are thrown together to solve a mystery surrounding the queen's missing jewels, sparks fly, secrets are revealed, and Halloween has never been hotter.

This novelette (longer than a short story, shorter than a novella) is perfect for reading on a coffee break - or in between handing out candy to trick-or treaters.

ALYSSA DAY is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of romantasy, paranormal romance, and mystery novels whose books have sold more than a million copies and been translated into many languages, although she’s holding out for Klingon. She has lived with and battled chronic depression for her entire life and finally admitted it to her family—and the world—in 2014. Life is better now, because depression lies and tells us we’re alone.

We’re not.

Alyssa (as Alesia Holliday) is a diehard Buckeye from The Ohio State University who graduated summa cum laude from Capital University Law School in Ohio and practiced as a trial lawyer for several years before coming to her senses and letting the voices in her head loose on paper. She has lived all over the country and all over the world, including the Philippines, Turkey, and Japan.

When she’s not traveling to new adventures, she lives in Florida with her Navy Guy husband, spends time with her two amazing kids, and rescues dogs.

Especially pugs.

I’ve missed Alyssa Day and her Poseidon Warriors. It’s been a while since I read Alyssa and I now remember why she was one of my favorite paranormal authors. Halloween In Atlantis, though short, was perfect.

Liam and Jamie were cute and funny together. From Liam, the big, strong warrior, trying to figure out how to kill a jack-o-lantern to him being dressed as Batman for the party … I laughed and laughed some more. Jamie and her human euphemisms that baffled Liam were outrageous. It just added another layer to the story.

But, It would not be a Poseidon Warrior story without a little intrigue and the rest of the warriors. Queen Riley, King Conlon, Vengeance, Alaric and Quinn, Denal and more … they all played a part in this hysterical Halloween story that was brought to life on Atlantis.

Alyssa Day knows how to write a story that intrigues you and knows just when to throw in the humor to lighten it up. She has always been a fun and talented writer and I’ve immensely enjoyed her stories. She has a flair with words and writing style that will keep you on your toes. So, if you enjoy a little paranormal and love Halloween, pick up this little book by Alyssa Day and enjoy.

Happy Halloween all!

3 stars.

As the title says, it's Halloween in Atlantis. Jaime has been hired as the Party Planner for the first Halloween Costume Party on Atlantis. Liam is one of the Warriors, who ended helping her out when they discover thieves have infiltrated the party and stolen the crown jewels.

As the author stated, this is a novelette (longer than a short story and shorter than a novella). Too short to be anything but a fluffy, light read but I did enjoy the cameos by Ven, Conlac and Alaric.

I have always loved all things Atlantis, Poseidon, myths, and legends so Alyssa Day's 'Halloween in Atlantis', part of her "Poseidon's Warriors" series automatically checked my intrigued box, and then after reading them, I'm hooked on this feel-good series. This time at Atlantis' first Halloween Party we get Liam's story and meet Jaime, a friend of Queen Riley and a party planner by trade. When Liam finds a surprise in one of Jaime's jack-o-lanterns it could cancel the party. It's a great read with so many chuckle-worthy spots. It just leaves you feeling good.

Nice to visit the Warriors of Poseidon.

I haven't read this series in years, but it was nice surprise that I still remembered the characters. Very cute story. Perfect read as we enter the holiday season. Guaranteed HEA.

4.5

I love any chance I get to return to Alyssa Day’s Atlantis universe, so even though it’s not Halloween, I couldn’t help myself.

There’s been a slight shift in her writing style. Her stories now are funnier, but less action-y(Is that a word? How about action-packed?). Her new style is very PNR Lite. This story has the same feel, and I think that it works for the shorter format.

Liam is one of the Atlantean warriors tasked to guard the palace for the upcoming Halloween party.

Jamie is the party planner who knows exactly where each jack o’lantern should go, but doesn’t know how to handle her attraction to the warrior who won’t stop glowering at everyone.

But there’s a small intrigue. Someone has stolen the princess’ crown, and with Liam’s family having a long history of being thieves, it makes him the prime suspect.

Jamie and Liam share some excitement, and some kisses, and even a sweet happily ever after.

I just love that there are 3 series running within the same world:

Warriors of Poseidon

Cardinal Witches

Tiger’s Eye Mystery

It’s a fun way to revisit the Warriors of Poseidon but with different adventures.

I hope Alyssa Day will continue writing for this series. I started reading this book and was immediately back in the world. Familiar characters made me feel right at home.

Heather's Notes
So this book was listed as a 0.5 which to me means before the series. These are clearly after the series. I did enjoy and want to read the rest, but I will wait until after I have finished the series. I liked Liam. I didn't get as good a feel for Jamie for some reason, but I did like her.

The Warriors of Poseidon are most definitely one of my top favorite series, and Alyssa Day is definitely one of my top favorite authors! An amazing author and writer who has the ability to capture your attention and hold it & make you feel like you are actual character "in" the book!! She has the ability to create really imaginative & descriptive places/settings, characters etc and has a great sense of humor!! I always laugh so hard!! 😂 In Halloween 🎃 in Atlantis Jaime is a party planner hired by KIng Conlan & Queen Riley to plan a Halloween party on Atlantis. Liam is one of Poseidon's Warriors who finds himself drawn to Jaime. While helping Jaime with setting up for the party they come across the Queen's Crown hidden in a pumpkin & are immediately are drawn into a race against time to solve this mystery, find the jewel thieves, and get the party back on track without anyone else finding out what happened!! I totally loved this book & feel it worthy of a 5 🌟 rating.

HAVE YOU READ? PARANORMAL ROMANTIC COMEDY BOOK REC

Alyssa Day’s Poseidon’s Warriors series is a hoot, as the ancient city of Atlantis is raised into the modern world, and leads to romance between the city’s dour warriors and sundry shell-shocked women. In "Halloween in Atlantis", an even more light-hearted Atlantean outing than usual in this wacky realm, Chicagoan party planner Jamie is contracted by the newly-emerged Atlantis to throw them a traditional Halloween party, as they attempt to join society at large. Warrior Liam finds Jamie shallow but fascinating, and as the big night looms, the two are as inexorably drawn to each other as is a kid to candy. A fun, funny frolic in a legendary city, with an adorable heroine and a hero who will slowly win you over. (Christmas in Atlantis is pretty cute, too.)

This rec appears in Romantic Intentions Quarterly #3 - October 2018

This was a short, cute story. Passion was very tame; it could have been better with that. Liked the characters. Liked the plot. Loved going back to the world of Atlantis and warriors that protect it. But I needed steamy passion on top of all the parts of the story I liked. The relationship is set up so that we know they have actually seen and talked to each other for several weeks, so when they finally hook up to solve the mystery and crime of the stolen royal jewels it seems natural and not rushed (love that when an author can take a novella and make it not feel rushed), but they do nothing but flirt and kiss and I remember the warriors being a bit more steamy on the page then that.  I did like the story a lot, but needed passion.

Oh my goodness what happened to my one time favorite series?! If this had been my first glimpse at the Warriors of Poseidon series, I'd have never read the series. Halloween in Atlantis wasn't even on the level of a C or D movie...this was like a train wreck.

I'm so disappointed. No real story. At all! Although there was one promised in the blurb "mystery surrounding the queen's missing jewels, sparks fly, secrets are revealed..."

Mystery? Ha ha!

I'll just remember Con, Ven, Justice, Alexios, Breannan, Christophe, Daniel and Alaric from their stories. Their books were great. This one, I'll just forget.

I didn’t actually realise that this novella takes place after the actions in Warriors of Poseidon until I was almost halfway through. I’m not really sure why it took me this long to figure it out, but I digress… it was still wonderfully fun, and luckily for me, didn’t give away much of the activities and plot throughout the rest of the Warriors of Poseidon series.

I’m an Australian, so I don’t really celebrate Halloween. I also don’t really get the whole hype about it. Which made it kind of fun to read a story that featured a Halloween celebration as the backdrop. Certainly a festive season that I’ve never partaken in, and one that both fascinates and disinterests me. I especially enjoyed the ways in which the Halloween party was used to create an escape avenue through fancy dress.

I love the paranormal romance throughout Alyssa Day’s stories. It is sweet, quaint and quick. But it also makes sense, and doesn’t feel like a horribly conceived, but badly written character development. I like that the relationships throughout feel natural.

A fun filled ride

I loved everything about this story. Jamie is so colorful, and fun. Even when she thinks her reputation as a party planner are at stake. Liam has been attracted to her since she first arrived in Atlantis. Lots of couples stopping by to say hi, and Alaric always steals the scene, as being a scary all powerful sorcerer, and his wife Quinn keeps him in line. I loved it.

Thank you, Ms. Day - Reading this story gave this reader a wonderful “coming home” feeling. To read again about the very beloved and fascinating characters of this extremely captivating series was a pure pleasure.
One huge wish – I along with many other readers – is to be given more stories on this superb storyline.

This was a fun read. It was nice to revisit our Poseidon Warriors for their first Halloween. Jamie is a party planner from Chicago catering the Halloween party for Queen Riley. Liam is one of King Conlans guard and quite smitten with the adoring party planner. I hope we see more of this couple and learn why Jamie can mind link with Liam.

I've read this entire series twice, including the other novellas. I understand this is also a novella and therfore meant to be short and quick, but it was just not worth the $3 at all. Nothing was really developed and it was basically a Scooby-Doo version of Atlantis. I was just not a fan of this one at all.

Wonderful Quick Read.

What a wonderful enjoyable quick read, for the start of the "Poseidon Warrior's series" a carry on from the "Warrior's of Poseidon".
I started reading Alyssa Day book's over 10+yrs ago, and have yet to be disappointed in anything she has written.
Not only do I recommend this short story, but would recommend all of her book's.

Pumpkin surprise

A short funny tale complete with some mystery and love. The Atlantian's have no idea what Halloween is about and it deteriorates from there. So Atlantis definitely needs a Party Planner to introduce them to the world's crazy holiday's now that the island has risen.

Short but interesting.

So much in such a short story. Theft, mystery, intigue, banter, jealousy, love and magic. Alyssa Day certainly put everything into a small package, while still tending to hold onto a wonderful story.

This was a cute read. I enjoyed reading about the two main characters' interactions with each other. They were from different times but drawn to each other. The comical ways they solved the mysteries were good. The chemistry was strong. I think I smiled through most of the book.

Great short story

Contained just enough excitement and romance to make a good book. The interactions with Alaric and Quinn was great. Keeping things from the queen great.
