Are you kidding me? To tell the truth about these prisons and others that were and are currently operating in the US and various parts of the world seems to me not something to be written as a children's book. I am not sure what this book will 'do' to child readers, but it will not inform them about historical or current prisons.

Carlson, Emma
World’s Scariest Prisons
Scholastic Books (New York)
Copyright 2014

I think this book is interesting because it shows us images of when the prisons were built and after they were build.I also think this book is very realistic because the prisons that are being talked about are all real and the images shown are real also.

Emma Carlson, who was born in Cincinnati,Ohio with her husband and two sons wrote more than 40 books detailing real life situations and problems, including Under Pressure, Never Let You Go , Today’s Marines, and Sunset Ranch .

Emma Carlson, not really known but in my point of view she is a great writer. The book World’s Scariest Prisons has prisons from the time era of 1197-2015. It also takes place all around the world like London,Paris and Rome,Italy.

Some facts the book talks about are how the prisons were built and what time era. It also gives facts about what time era were the prisons built and also gives facts about how the prisoners were treated and how they got to the prisons and what they did to be in prison. This book was written than other books this book talks about different jails every two or three pages.Something the reader learns after reading this book is how prisons were back in time and how prisoners were treated and also to never wanna be in jail.

Some books and films that are similar to this book are ghost hunters some of the prisons in this book are showed and talked about in this show. I think the targeted audience is people who like to read books that talk about history of our prisons and people who are interested in history of our prisons. Also people between the ages of 14-18 years.

My personal opinion on this book? I think this book was interesting and very realistic because it showed images ad talked about the prisons and how they were build. I also think this book is entertaining because i am not big fan of reading but i really liked reading this book.

This is a very interesting and informational young adult chapter book. It tells of famous prisons that have existed over time and presents a great way for kids to learn about something that could seem traumatic. This book is best for older children because of the nature of it's content, but it is very enjoyable to read. There are many pictures and subheadings to help elaborate what the text displays.
The book includes a glossary to help the reader learn from the book and encompasses some colorful headings to make reading very appealing. I would recommend this book to any junior high or high school student who is interested in learning more about the history of penitentiaries.

Prisons is a graphic book that looks into the history of various famous prison throughout the World. It goes into detail on the lifestyle of the prisoners and some of the horrendous acts committed by those who did the imprisoning. It also tells some scary stories of why people were in the prisons in the first place.

Most of the content in the book is graphic imagery. The text is easy to read but the content is very engaging so the reading level is not an issue. The subject matter itself will keep readers engaged and intrigued the whole time.

Lots of primary source photographs are the highlight of this book. There is good basic information about a wide variety of prisons around the world - but I found it difficult to read, due to all the different fonts, both style and size throughout the entries. However, it is still an interesting book to browse.

This book could almost be classified as a graphic novel or picture book, but the contents are anything but child-like. It gives a quick glimpse into the different prisons throughout history that had the worst reputations for their harsh conditions and treatment of prisoners.

A quick, easy read covering the good and bad of prisons & prison life. It's meant to be a cursory overview -- and it does a fine job at being that.

Quick read that wets the appetite of scary places; not much depth to the info.
