Miss Fortune & Mr. Knott: A Protector, Small Town, Clean Romance

Rate this book
In a quiet, small mountain town, my solitude crumbles when a laid-back PI with a knack for finding trouble strolls in. Peter, my unlikely partner in the chaos of fate, makes my heart race faster than the hurricane-force winds that blow on a stormy day. But somewhere between spilled coffee and shared pies, the walls I built start to wobble.

With a charm as easy as a summer breeze, Peter digs into my life story like it’s a mystery novel he simply can't put down. My prickly defenses start to falter, yet suspicion lurks like an unwanted diner special. I’m used to the bite of loss, the sting of betrayal, and yet here I am, considering trusting the man with too many questions. As his smile grows on me, so do secrets too dangerous to ignore--a family inheritance that’s bound to shatter my world.

Peter’s half-confession leaves me with tremors more potent than any mountain storm. Staring at the evidence of betrayal and truth, I realize my heart’s on a precipice. Can a man who walked into my heart be the one to mend it after he’s torn it apart?

Is a sweet small town, Protector, secret identity romance with no cliffhanger.
Some of the lines I really like --- “Not the first time someone’s tried to caffeinate my feet.” --- “Like you’ve got a fortress to defend or something. I’m not here to storm the castle.” --- “Got any rooms left at the inn? I’m on my way to rescue a damsel in distress.” --- “I only write what my heart feels.” --- "I like this time of morning. It feels honest like the world hasn’t had time to lie to itself yet.” --- “Nah, too much. I can bench press a car without breaking a sweat.” --- “You must be really bored if you’re harassing waitresses for entertainment.” --- “Not harassing. This is mild pestering. There’s a big difference, you know,” --- "You can’t control what other people do. You can only control how you handle it.” --- “It’s either laugh or lose my mind. I choose door number one.” --- “trusting someone doesn’t make you weak. And it doesn’t make you foolish. It makes you brave. You had enough courage to put yourself out there.” --- Maybe sometimes the door closed so another one, an unexpected, wild one, could open instead. ---
What's Marshall up to? What's Blake up to? What's Dee up to? These and other questions will all be answered.
I loved Lucy and Peter's story and I'm sure you will too. I've loved everyone of her books that I've read and can't wait to read her next book.

Miss Fortune and Mr Knott by Kit O’Neal
A clean romance short story.

I love these stories written by Kit O’Neal; they don’t always follow the same pattern, but they always leave me feeling warm and fuzzy about the story I read!

This story is about a girl who lost her mother to cancer and felt like she didn’t belong with her stepbrothers and stepfather. So, she left them and made her own way.
As the years pass, the stepfather dies, and her stepbrothers hire a PI to find her. Lucy keeps to herself; she is quiet and works as a waitress in a local diner. This is where Peter finds her. Lucy is not offering a lot of information, and Peter is super curious, so he comes back every day.
Soon Lucy and Peter are getting closer, and we start to learn the history about her relationship with her stepfamily and what brought her to the town she is in. I really enjoyed this book. Lucy was very relatable in her anxiety and hurt over the past and the loss of her mother. I loved how Peter grew to love Lucy and how he turned everything around on the brothers!
Overall, it was a great read!
