True story of how its half-blind author built his childhood dream on a remote clifftop in the southwest of Ireland. Told with irreverent humour it is the account of a battle with convention and the elements to create a spiritual home for people of all religions and none.
Enjoyed to learn about Peter's life journey, and what took him to Dzoghen Beara, but would have loved to connect deaper with the author on his meditation practice and day-to-day life in West Cork.

I've been looking forward to getting and reading this book... partly because I spent a lot of (invaluable)time personally enjoying the magical spaces that the author created with his own hands and single-minded vision; partly because Peter himself is such a great racconteur and living example of warm, irreverent eccentricity with purpose and great heart; and mainly to discover if it was at all possible both to distil and bottle the essence and joy of Dzogchen Beara's creator and then somehow successfully bind it between two bookcovers...
Dazzled by Daylight is all about the magical spaces that exist all around and within us... in the most unlikely places and situations.
I've only read the first 70 pages and am utterly seduced... so that's as much as I'm going to say for now..
before I jump right back in to 60's London...
after the swinging 60's I went straight in and finished the whole book... what a rolic through all the those long-neglected lanes of memory...
I have been to Dzogchen Beara, a buddhist retreat centre built on the remote cliffs of Ireland numerous times. Peter Cornish, the author of the book tells his enchanting life story and how he made his dream of a lifetime come eventually true. Especially, when you know the place it is such an inspiring read and when you don't know the place you're longing to go and visit as soon as possible. I am very grateful for Cornishe's tenacity. The world wouldn't be the same without this special, special place. I loved the book. I actually couldn't put it down until I was finished. Such a great read!
