Deep Water – Book 17 in the outstanding Tom Rollins action thriller series. Perfect for fans of Lee Child, Jason Kasper and David Archer.
Paul Heatley, have you heard of him? If not then you better redeem yourself. Deep Water is another great adventure with Tom Rollins from this great storyteller. Once again Tom finds himself in a situation where someone needs help. It evolves into some great action and the downfall of some bad characters. I love the way Rollins deals with punishment and standing up for the little guy. I think it's a human thing, enjoying swift justice wherever it may be necessary. In this series we get to see a lot of different towns around US. I must thank Netgalley and Inkubator Books for supplying me with this advance copy.
While working construction, Tom makes a new friend. Dennis is a nice guy who sees a woman get killed. He tells Tom but ends up being hunted himself. Tom has been caught in the middle & trying to save him from the bad guys.
Thanks to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for an advance reader copy. If you want a synopsis, click on the book.
Tom Rollins is a drifter who minds his own business until he stumbles upon a wrong that needs to be righted and then he goes for it at breakneck speed. This is the usual Rollins formula and it's a good easy read.
Deep Water by Paul Heatley is a highly recommended action-packed thriller. This is the seventeenth book featuring Tom Rollins, a former black ops specialist who is known for vigilantism and seeking justice by what ever means possible. This is another intense action/adventure page-turner.
Tom Rollins is working a construction job in Newark, NJ, when Dennis, a young man who he works with, witnesses a brutal crime and sees the perpetrators. Tom accompanies him to the police to report it, but it quickly becomes clear to Tom that the police know who did it and are being paid off by them. When the two crooked officers come to their job site to take Dennis and Tom in for questioning, Tom secretly prepares for what he knows will be their demise. He's right, but his preparation means they escape. Now they are on the run being ruthlessly hunted by a security force representing the Penneys and their pharmaceutical empire.
Expect non-stop action, constant threats, and a credible adversary in this suspenseful thriller. The pages will fly by following the mysteries, murders, violence, and henchmen galore. Sure, you'll have to set disbelief aside, but that is easily done while following the actions of Rollins, an intelligent, observant, and, above all else, lethal one-man-demolition-crew seeking justice.
Even though this is the seventeenth book in the series, Deep Water can easily be read as a stand alone novel. There is enough background information seamlessly included in the plot to understand Tom Rollins and his background. Those new to the series could always go back and read previous titles if you enjoy this fast-paced, gripping thriller.
Deep Water is a perfect choice for those who want a thriller featuring an action-hero plot. Thanks to Inkubator Books for providing me with an advance reader's copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary and expresses my honest opinion.
This was my first Tom Rollins book AND my first Paul Heatley book; but I have definitely found a new author to read. I am still out of breath from reading this story!
The hero of the book is Tom Rollins who is former special forces and thus comes with all the skills you would expect when it comes to carrying out the mission. This is book #17 in this series, but I had no problem jumping straight into the story and characters with no previous knowledge of them.
The background to this story is big pharma and the lengths they will go to make money. Killing people seems to be just another area of operations for them.
In this story, Tom's friend Dennis witnesses a brutal murder and then goes to the police with Tom to report it only to find that the cops are all in the pocket of big pharma and thus Tom and Dennis are now being hunted by big pharma's goons. The book is super fast-paced and it is hard to set it down.
I really enjoyed the supporting cast of characters in the book; including Melissa (the bartender/girlfriend) and Eric (the PI). I love books with strong female characters and Melissa definitely proves herself to be one.
Just a warning, there is a lot of brutal killing.
Thank you to NetGallery and Inkubator Books for supplying me with an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
This book finds Tom working construction in New Jersey as a laborer hauling debris all day. To him it's satisfying, low stress work. After hours, he can be found at a local pub hanging with his newest "girlfriend" Melissa. A new guy at work -Dennis, is being picked on by bullies at the site and Tom can't help but take him under his wing. After hearing Dennis's story of addiction & rehab, it kind of reminds Tom of his brother.
One evening while walking home from a "first date", Dennis sees something he shouldn't. Next day, Tom's concerned- Dennis was a no show at work. Tom heads to Dennis's apt, hears the story and persuades Dennis to report it to the police but while in the precinct, Tom feels something is "off". He's proven correct when two cops show up at the end of the work day "to bring them to the station for clarification" but instead, take them to a wooded area.
Tom gets them away and the chase is on. Tom, Melissa & Dennis are running from the bad guys all while trying to find out why this is going on. Based on how other books in this series end, the bad guys should be afraid but are too stupid & arrogant to realize what they are up against.
A quick, action-packed story with bodies dropping everywhere.
If you are unfamiliar with the Tom Rollins series, Deep Water is book 17. The main character is Reacher-esque, nomadic after years in the military including special forces. In this book, Tom is working construction in New Jersey when a coworker friend witnesses a murder of a local activist who was blocking a pharma company from building a marina that would take their company to the next level. Tom goes with him to report it to the police only to become the next target of them.
I find this series an easy read. They are not groundbreaking reading, but quick and enjoyable. You know Tom will be violent so triggers for that as there are always some descriptive injuries/killings but he and his friends usually get through everything relatively unscathed.
This one adds in the ethics of pharmaceutical companies as Tom, his girlfriend and his coworker try to stay ahead of the murderers who want to silence anyone who knows about the activist's death or the reason for it. A little good vs evil, rich vs poor and fighting for what is right.
If you love Reacher, this one is for you. Thanks to Inkubator Books and Netgalley for the copy for review.
This time around Tom is keeping under the radar when all hell breaks loose after he takes a new construction worker under his wing. Shortly after Tim befriends Dennis and offers him guidance, Dennis witnesses the murder of a well known activist. Tom convinces him to give his account to the police only to find out said cops are on the take. Tom, Dennis and Melissa (Tom’s) girlfriend are now on the run trying to take down the family and ruthless cops. WOW once again this one had me right from the start. I was totally enthralled. Loved every minute of it….well done. My only issue, and it continues to be an issue is the repetitive use of British terminology. It totally takes away from the continuity for me in a book that takes place in the U.S. with primarily American characters. I came in to this series at book 14 so I don’t know if there is a justified reason behind it like it specifies at some point that the narrator of the story is British, but even if that was true it just doesn’t sit well with me thus what would be a 5 star book is only a 4 star book. This story begins with Tom in Newark, N.J. Tom is working construction and is introduced to Dennis by Neal, the foreman. Dennis is skittish around people, so Tom takes him under his wing. Things smooth out and Melissa, Tom's girlfriend, has Dennis over and Dennis and Stef find that there is a spark between them. Dennis walks Stef home and after walking back to his apartment he sees a crime go down. Dennis gets chased and hides from work. Tom learns what happened and convinces Dennis to go to the police. Once they leave the police station, things soon get dangerous. It seems that some of the cops are on the take.
Read along as Tom, Melissa and Dennis have to hide, learn who and why they are being hunted. Discover what action the trio have to take in order to save themselves.
The action is immense and the ending is unexpected. Get this book, you won't be sorry.
Rollins takes his one man wrecking crew to the Jersey Shore, and havoc ensues. While trying to keep it low key as a construction worker, trouble comes his way when he takes a green co-worker under his wing who witnesses a murder.
It's not long before they and Rollins' girlfriend Melissa are on the run with the realization they've stumbled into something big, with corrupt cops being paid off to protect the culprits. As Rollins kicks ass and the body count starts to rise, the puzzle pieces begin to fall in place to reveal a nefarious business out to profit at the expense of potentially millions of lives.
Have no fear - with Tom Rollins locked and loaded, the bad guys will all get what's due in the end!
A fast-paced, rollicking adventure from start to finish. Highly recommended!

This was brilliant. Tom has taken a new hire on the construction site under his wing and gets involved when the young man witnesses a woman being killed. She was protesting against the development of a marina but it seems there is a lot more involved behind the scenes. The duo and Melissa, Tom's latest girlfriend, find themselves on the run and looking for someone to help bring the perpetrators to justice especially when they can't trust the police.
The pace in this was relentless and I loved how the sense of revenge and ultimately justice, prevails. There's plenty of violence and I found it hard to catch my breath as I read further. I can't believe how far into the series we are already and it still feels so fresh.

This is only my second book by this author and I'm hooked. I just finished book 16 and now this one. I've ordered a bundle of books 1-4. The ones I just finished are standalone stories.
As with most of these stories, you will have crude words and the Lord's name used in vain, so be prepared.
Violence is a recurring theme for sure and to say they are gruesome is an understatement, but so thrilling.
What I've discovered reading these two stories, are some of your favorite people die, along with most of the villain. To think you'd have all this violence and only the good guys survive is unrealistic, but sad.
You will be treated to fast pacing, suspense, twists, intrigue and a thrilling and unique story. No cliffhanger and a slight romance and lovemaking with bedroom door closed.
I can't improve on the blurb, just giving you extra tidbits to decide whether to purchase. (ljb)
I'm always all in from Chapter 1 in this series and this book is no exception. These are busy books and Rollins is always helping the defenceless and handing out justice to the bad guys. If you are a follower of this series than you know what to expect and you will not be disappointed. Great characters even the bad guys. Rollins is helping a young man who witnesses a murder, and the bad guys want to silence. Can't trust all the cops as some are corrupt. If you want suspense and action than you have come to the right place. I loved the last few chapters as the Finale is great. Can't wait to see what Tom is up to next but, has he found a home at last?

Ex-Operatives can be anywhere, just moving along and trying to live a quiet life. Then, out of nowhere, stuff happens! Tom Rollins is working, dating a wonderful girl who works at a local pub, and a new guy, Dennis, who starts to work with him, is dealing with his own past life issues. Then Dennis happens to see a woman being brutally murdered, and the race is on to stay alive! Tom falls into his previous training, helping everyone stay alive. There are a lot of men they are working against them and a lot of means, too. This story would be good as a standalone, but it is a much richer storyline when read as a series. Thank you, Paul Heatley, for a fantastic story! I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my honest review.
If you like fast paced action thrillers staring people who fight for justice till the very end, then this book is for you. Tom Rollins is just trying to live a normal life, working hard while traveling, when he finds himself involved in situations protecting innocent people against very mean corrupt villains.
This story is a page turner with an interesting plot and great characters, both good and bad ones. Be prepared for lots of action fighting scenes, shoot outs, corrupt cops and businesses executives, trained ex military people torturing innocents, and more while reading Deep Water. This is part of a series but each book is a standalone story.

The first I have read by this author , but it will not be the last. A fast paced shooter thrillerwhere Tom Rollins stands up for the underdog. There is a lot of violence in this book, but descriptions are not too graphic and the right side wins. The book is fine as a stand alone, which is how I have read it. Enough of Tom's history is revealed so that you get an understanding of what made him the man he is today, but no doubt other relationships are more understandable if you have read other episodes in the series. I was not expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did, but it engaged me from early on and kept me interested throughout. There is a good plot as the frame for the book, rather than just being about macho fighting. Thanks to Net Galley for a great read
Dennis was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. He saw a murder and the bad guys saw him. The chase was on and that is where Tom comes in. Tom befriended Dennis on the worksite so went to check on why he didn’t show up for work. The story builds from there. The author did a good job weaving the characters, the storyline and blending it with greed, corruption, and drugs. Well worth your time, so recommend you read the book.

I love the book! I've been hooked from the first page and couldn't stop reading. The characters are fantastic, especially Tom and Melissa. The book contains everything that I love about a good book. It's a suspenseful, thrilling, romantic, and action-packed story that makes it a true page-turner. To me, it read as if I'm watching the movie. I'm so sorry I've missed the previous books; I'm going to see if I can buy them all.

You can never go wrong with a Tom Rollins book. The former black ops specialist is back and still trying to live a quiet life. His friend Dennis is witness to a brutal crime and by reporting it he puts himself in even more danger when the lead detective on the case is dirty and in the pocket of the criminals. Tom, Dennis and Tom's girlfriend are on the run trying to solve the murder and their lives.
Well, definitely a lot of killing getting done, but I couldn't quite get into this story. I know the goal was to leverage the opiod crises and corporate greed but the story never got going for me. I did like the antagonist character Giles Lee. Almost hoped he would have been kept around to weave back into a future book. Worth the effort if your a TR fan but hard to keep fresh after 17 books.
When I crack open a book by this author especially a Tom Rollins story I'm in for one helluva ride and or adventure where bullets fly, bombs explode and secrets surface and Tom is at the center of it all cause he can't stand injustice. Tom and Dennis are definitely in deep water and are about to drown if the Penny's have it their way. I recommend this book 100% it's definitely a five star
Great to have Tom back again, but why does trouble always find him? Well, I’m glad it does, ‘cause it makes for another great story. Big Pharma, protest, murder, crooked cops, mercenaries and more keep the action moving and the reader anxious for the next installment. I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher and voluntarily provided an honest review.
With action coming out of nowhere the seamless twists and turns of this excellent page turning read, leave you enjoying the story right until the end. Shocking in places but so entertaining. Thoroughly enjoyed the book. Certainly didn’t anticipate the ending.

PH You kept me up late… me, furiously turning pages… cheering on hero Tom! Wish he’d settle down and lead a boring life with a wife, kids, and golden retriever’s. Then again, what would I do with nothing to read at the midnight hour… like tonight. Forget the wish, PH… please… carry on… need another Tom Rollins tome ASPA!
As always, non stop action. It is almost impossible to put the book down. Paul Heatley never fails to hold my attention with his Tom Rollins series. I have read all of the books in order and have never been disappointed. This book earns another well deserved 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
As usual from this author, a book with fast and entertaining action, and also with a plot that's rather unbelievable. I also doubt you will find many former Navy SEALS killing fellow Americans, but I guess you need a skilled enemy for the good action.
This was another really good book by Paul Heatley. I have read this entire series and not once was I disappointed. Good story, great characters, plenty of action, and crazy ending. I would suggest this book to anyone who enjoys this type of reading.
This book is so predictable, so similar to all of the books in the series. I have read all in the series, they have become the same story with changes in some of the characters and locations.
Another action pact book that has Mason fighting against a drug company that has a long reach. He uses all of his skills in order to overcome all of the people after him. A book full of action and a page-turner from start to finish.
