If you only read one book on menopause, it should be this one. Dr Casperson covers:
what is happening in the body during the menopause transition,
what hormones are involved - with deep dives into testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone as well as the confusion caused by the Women’s Health Initiative in 2002,
the most common health problems women face in midlife and beyond,
and how women can care for their whole biopsychosocial selves.
I’ve read 8 books covering the menopause transition this October for World Menopause Month and this is the most comprehensive in my opinion. Dr Casperson is brutally honest and armed with science-based information but delivers this wealth of knowledge with a healthy dose of humor.
A note on the audiobook edition: the tracks are not labeled which is definitely annoying
