Iain's work has been compared to Stephen King, Richard Laymon, and James Herbert - the three writers he credits with making him want to scare people for a living.
Well, I wouldn't describe this collection of short stories as a terror inducing read, it was more of a 'Twilight Zone' fest. Not that it wasn't a bad read, some of the stories were quite good but, it was still a bit of a marathon to complete the book.
We had some dark humour, a few unsettling stories and the author's apparent fixation with mirrors. The moral here being, if you stare into a mirror it isn't always your own reflection that stares back at you.
Not a bad read but, I'm not sure I would bother with a second series - always assuming one is in the pipeline.
about 4 exceptional short horror stories..few stupid stories that were not horror and kinda sucked...throw in some stories with not too subtle social commentary...combine all that with some so-so wanna be twilight zone type tales and you have this book. this author irks me because I have loved a ton of his books...and hated others so I don't know whether to keep trying or just move on.
This guy can really right! These 28 stories will stay with me for quite a while. Each one was a nightmare fuel propelled by Mr. Wrights Skilled storytelling. Definitely a five star read.
Really a good read! I enjoy Iain’s work so much. It’s always entertaining. No matter if it’s a group of short stories or a full length series. He never lets me down!
I always enjoy reading Iain Rob Wright. More please. Every story had a twist ending. I can't wait for the next book. I think I'll join Patreon for Iain.
I’m a fan of iain rob wright and I thoroughly enjoyed these short stories. The squirrel story was hilarious, I hope he writes another short story collection.
I am normally not a short story type of person to begin with, but am a huge fan of Iain, so I wanted to love this. However, majority of these stories were to personal and close to home, reminding me of a black mirror type of format. The squirrel and reference to Stephen King will be my favorite as it held no association with current events. I’m sorry I just didn’t love it.
What a snooze fest! Most stories are about drunk or alcool abuse, others are unoriginal (3 stories are about mirrors, the author seem to be traumatise by is reflection and alcool.) Bad horror, don't buy unless you are a14 years old who wants to proove to is friends something..
Iain Rob Wright has done it again. His work engages you from the start and doesn't let up until the story is finished. Then it lingers in your mind for days. Each of his books are a treat. Enjoy!
I have read all the usual authors, King koonz, etcetera, a friend told me about this author, so I tried one of his books. I love the humour that comes across in some of the stories in this book. I will be trying other books by this author. Fabulous read
