Join Emily and Pegasus as the legend continues in a new epic adventure ...
The ancient rivalry between the Olympians and the Titans, thought long over, is rekindled - but this time the Titans have a secret weapon that can rival the power of the Flame of Olympus. The balance of power is tipped in Saturn's favour now that he has found his own Flame of Titus. Jupiter's Olympus will finally be in his grasp!
Caught in the middle of this ancient power struggle, Emily and Pegasus must head to the Diamond Head volcano in Hawaii to track down the one thing that can save Olympus ... before the Titans get there first.
Kate O'Hearn was born in Toronto Canada, but raised in the heart of New York City and has lived in many places throughout her life. These days, she calls the south coast of England home. She has 3 brothers, no sisters and is passionate about animals and their causes and has many animal friends. (Pets)
Over the course of her life she has had several careers before finding her real love, writing children's books. Being the only girl in family of boys, she grew up a true tom-boy and always loved books with high adventure. But one of the problems she discovered was a lack of female leads in these adventure books.
When she started to write, Kate decided to address this imbalance and now writes high fantasy adventures with strong, compassionate and adventure loving girl heroes. There are plenty of boys in the story to keep it interesting and challenging, but she believes that a girl hero can be as brave, strong and adventurous as a boy.
First off, let me say that I have been waiting for this book for a whole year and boy was I excited when I received this on Christmas!! I was practically squirming with excitement to read the book!!
Now on to the actual book... It. was. AWESOME!!! In the 5th Pegasus book they face a different challenge and this time, Emily is fading but Lorin is growing stronger with uncontrollable powers and its up to Emily and her friends to save her and Olympus! This story takes you on an adventure to Hawaii with Emily, Pegasus, Paelen, Joel, Chrysaor, Fawn, and Chiron while the Olympians are trying to fight off the Titans. They have to find the one thing that will save them all before it's too late!!
There was a few new characters in the book including Lorin, Fawn, Phoeboe, Pele, Dax, Sapphire, and Baird.
And all in all this was a really really awesome, thrilling, exciting and suspenseful book! And it had me on the tip of my toes the whole time! Also, the ending really surprised me, like I was Not expecting that! I'm really looking forward to how the characters develop in the next book because there was a really big change in the end!
4 Stars I am really sad that the series is over. I really liked the writing and the story line. One thing that I would for sure change is Joel and Emily's relationship. I don't really understand why they was friends when they kind of acted like they were in love with each other. I really loved the storyline and also through out the story I really fell in love with pegasus. One thing that I really loved about him is that he cared about Emily especially when she was in danger. I wish this series this series would continue though.
I feel really disappointed that I didn't love this book nearly as much as I love the rest of the series. I want to say I loved it but I honestly didn't.
So why did i dislike this book compared to the other 4? Well I felt this book was rather slow paced and frustrating. The parts of the books I love the most are the interactions between Emily, Joel and Paelen, which this heavily lacked. I have come to love these characters I wanted more of them. My favourite part of the whole book was when Emily and Paelen escaped Mike and hastily travelled to Honolulu Zoo. That part was fast paced and familiar as part of the Pegasus series.
In addition, this series has introduced us to a new main character in each book. Lastly Stella was a strong willed character whom I grew to like. The 3rd book introduced Alexis, the sphinx. Although she annoyed me at first with her aggressive nature, I am now very fond of her. The 2nd book gave us Cupid. I loved having Cupid has part of 'the gang' and would have loved to have seen more of him. However, I cannot stress how much Lorin, this books new character, has frustrated me. I know she had been in a coma for years so has only a few years of life experience so was supposed to be a bratty child but damn it was annoying. Her need to find Emily and claim all that is hers was just so juvenile and chaotic. Also, the fact that Paelen has now taken to her has just completely blown my mind. I know she has 'changed' but seriously. My least favourite genre is romance. I don't mind romance within another genre if it is well structured and built up. However this feels completely futile and needless. People don't need to be in a relationship to get a happy ending. I am not buying that relationship one bit. I would have writen a different ending in which Lorin shows she's learned her lesson by giving her body to Emily so she no longer exists to be honest.
Moreover, what was with Joel's reaction at the end. This made appear to be a vain and simple which is not how he has been potrayed since maybe the start of the first book. This was needless. I've always thought that Emily should have chose Paelen but now I'm even more sold on this idea.
Nonetheless I loved the setting of Hawaii and the introduction to more native deities. The explanation of night dwellers and vampires was intresting and very believable. Details like this is what brings theses stories alive for me. I was actually relieved to find another appearance from the CRU as this part of the story was familiar and probably the best part.
Since the next book of this series is the last I will have to read it and hope it gets back to how the first 4 books were. Although I am annoyed to see Lorin mentioned in the next description but I am very intrested by the origins of the CRU. I also wanna see a revisit from Cupid but this will probably not happen.
i want to read this book before i make reviews someone please tell me how i can read a book here. Because i have no idea i want to read this book AND thae fourth book too but i have no idea how. thank you
This book was so amazing because I didn't expect the story to go like this. I was surprised and I couldn't put the book down. The ending is so shocking that I was so surprised, this has got to be my favorite book EVER.
3.75! Good book just something twisted in my stomach every time I read a new chapter!!! Laura our whatever her name is bugged the crap out of me made me want to claw her face of and hurt the book hoping it would hurt her! I hate the fact that she lived and Emily is going to have to be around with her. I hate it that Palean LIKES her!!!! And that she deliberately tries to steal Pegasus!!! Sorry for my rant still like the book😁😒😕😌

in all of Kate o'hearn stories with Pegasus she leads the book off with the book before it. on the fourth novel we see the Olympians dead and all dying but when Emily has to go back in time to destroy the titan weapon we see a writers element that was very successful. she rewrote something well known and added new characters. she created more compassion in the team Pegasus bond. in the fifth book she tells us the readers that the war from the past was the beginning of the Olympians problems with the titans. we see that the xan's riza's shards went also to Titus during the war causing a new flame to arise in Tartarus causing the war Emily fought for in ancient times to repeat itself. the book is a great example of friendship and shows us the unbreakable bond of team Pegasus.
This is the fifth book in the Pegasus series. I absolutely loved it!
Emily is The Flame of Olympus. She thought she was an ordinary girl, but she is very special. She is a fantastic character, who has faced many challenges in the previous books and triumphed. I really like her. She is full of determination and spirit. However, she may be facing her hardest challenge yet! Can she survive?
I have a soft spot for Emily and Pegasus, and when I heard that this book was due for release, I immediately pre-ordered it! This is a fantastic adventure, filled with danger and amazing twists and surprises. It was wonderful to meet all the previous characters like Pegasus, Joel, Paelen, Chrysaor and Chiron. However, there were new characters introduced: Fawn, a young girl who is a night dweller (where the myths of vampires come from), Lorin, a girl with her own piece of the flame and Pele, the Hawaiian volcano goddess.
*Minor Spoiler!* After Emily helped defeat the Titans in the past (book 4), time reset and a new timeline was created. Lorin awakens from a deep sleep and finds herself trapped in Tartarus. And Emily makes another shocking discovery that changes her life once again.
I started reading this book and read it in one sitting as I couldn't put it down! I found myself on an emotional roller coaster ride from beginning to end, as there are some very sad scenes that had me shedding a tear or two, but there is also a few witty scenes that had me smiling or laughing out loud. I love the imagery created by Kate O'Hearn, as it felt like I was actually there. I love the incorporation of several mythical creatures too, the descriptions of which were vivid enough for me to picture them quite easily. The action is intense and had me sitting on the edge of my seat. I felt sad when I reached the end because these characters have become my friends and I will miss them. I don't know if there is another book due in the series, or if this was the last one as it does not finish on a cliffhanger. But, if there is to be another book in the series, I'm on it like white on rice!
Kate O'Hearn has created a world for Pegasus and the other Olympians that is completely believable. I love her writing style, which is very descriptive and the story flows beautifully. She is now one of my favourite YA authors. I have another one of her books from another series sitting on my Kindle, and I hope to get to read it soon.
I highly recommend this book (and series) to children of 11+ and to adults alike (who love reading YA), as this is one of the most exciting stories I have read in a long time. - Lynn Worton
When I got this book, I was bursting with excitement. I love this author, and she has got me through many cold nights impatiently waiting for my mom to pick me up.
Although I don't quite remember everything that happened in the previous books because I read them years ago, I can say that this was probably the best of them all.
And you should have seen me when Joel finally got the nerve to say "I love - " and then chickened out. I wanted to strangle him. I was jumping up and down in the parking lot in frustration. WHY ARE BOOK CHARACTERS SO STUPID?! JUST SAY THAT YOU LOVE HER! SHE LOVES YOU, AND EVERYONE KNOWS IT! JUST GET ON WITH THIS YOU BALLESS AND ARMLESS BOY!!
But on the subject of how O' Hearn does romance is something I am actually pleased about. It's subtle and it is a slow process. Not some kind of infatuation that two hormonal teenagers happen to have after they see each other for the first time. But the whole love triangle involving Palean, Joel and Emily was understated, and didn't break up their friendship. And I love that, I love that Palaen loved Emily so much that he was willing to let her go. Unlike every other male character involved in a triangle, who ends up pushing the girl to choose and is unwilling to see her feelings and see who she likes most without her having telling him. Thank you, O' Hearn, for making the first truely sensitive ex (although they never dated) in the history of books... well, next to Jem Carstairs (Thank you, Classandra Clare!)
I was frustrated - not with the protagonists, for the first time ever - with the bad guys. Lorin was awesome and all the Island Gods were so fucking stubborn that I wanted to rip my hair out.
*sigh* Really, Emily, really? I have yet to see any major character development in our main character over the span of 5 books. Sure she gets these powers and has to cope with that, but she doesn't necessarily become better or stronger through her growth. This book was just all over the place. First off, I needed more EMOTION. Emily says that she loves Joel, she says she's afraid, but I don't see proof of it. The ending, where Emily had to find a replacement body was just so random that it threw off whatever rhythm there was to this book. All in all, an adequate book that could've used a stronger plot with more tension and emotion.
The father decided to free a soul but there was an outcome that was not planned. The person had to find someone else to be its host.. interesting. The choice a shock but it was a good one.
I wasn’t really impressed with Kate O’Hearn’s 5th novel of the Pegasus series... Lorin was a brat. Emily was weak. Joel was I don’t even know..... And the ending was horrible. Let’s make Emily die and make her a reincarnation! Hmm... Not enough got gods and goddess, HAWAIIAN GODDESS ARE IN! Basically, the series is dragging on... (And isn’t Diana not supposed to love men or is that just Artemis??? IDK I’m super confused) :/

First off, let me say that I have been waiting for this book for a whole year and boy was I excited when I received this on Christmas!! I was practically squirming with excitement to read the book!!
The Cover of the book (which of course includes Pegs and Emily) is so beautifully made and includes them in Hawaii which is where they journey to. And I absolutely love it! And it's possibly my fave cover so far (except for the first book)

This would have been all five but there was one relationship that sparked to quickly and it got on my nerves. I also felt the story was a bit rushed, maybe it could have been longer, but don't hold me to that cause I read it in a little over a day.
I loved this book so much and I am really hoping there will be another book, although the series could end here, I would love to see how the characters develop after this storyline.
I recommend this book series to all ages even though it's more of a middle grade book it is a really fun book to read that I was constantly looking forward to reading.
I do wish I didn't finish it so fast, I got it around 4 yesterday when I got home from school and just stayed up finishing it. I wish there were more pages and more to this book, and I believe a lot more can be explained in possible future book(s<-hopefully)
Overall I loved it and if you are into Greek, Roman mythology you will to, especially if your a Percy Jackson fan like myself.
All I have to say about this book is that the characters are so frustrating. I absolutely hated Lorin and I have no idea why Emily decided to save her. Lorin tried to kill her. Now Emily wants to help her? That makes no sense to me. I did enjoy the plot line of the book and as always loved the relationships between Emily and her friends. I’m hoping that in the final book the characters will be a little better, but I’m excited to see how the series ends.

It wasn't as good as the other four. I just felt like Emily kept getting more and more powers and not knowing how to control them and blowing stuff up because of them. *Spoiler* At the end of the book, Emily has Diana's genes, so that makes her Olympian. Then why can't she understand Pegasus? *End spoiler* Other then that, I loved it!
It's always entertaining reading about Emily and her friends. This chapter takes us to Hawaii and the author cleverly threw in some Oahu landmarks and Hawaiian mythology that made the book a fun read. Has anyone else noticed that Emily is very mouthy?
