USA Today bestselling author Scarlett Scott returns with a sinfully hot tale of a feisty lady determined to win her brother's best friend and the wicked duke who has vowed to never fall in love...
As heartless as he is handsome, Aubrey Villiers, the Duke of Richford, has perfected the art of not caring one whit about anything except his pursuit of pleasure. His past is as dark as his moods, and the rumors about his curious carnal needs would make any proper innocent miss swoon.
Lady Rhiannon Northwick, however, is anything but proper. And as for her innocence? She has a plan in mind to rid herself of that rather nettlesome inconvenience. Infiltrating the sinful house party hosted by her older brother is easy. Seducing his good friend, the brooding Duke of Richford, proves far more difficult.
Although Richford may be a conscienceless rake, he isn’t about to deflower the stubborn hellion who tempts him at every turn, regardless of how badly he wants to. Rhiannon, who has long harbored a secret tendre for the duke, is equally determined to change his mind.
Torn between his demons, his loyalties, and the last woman on earth he should desire, Richford is faced with an impossible choice—sever all ties with Rhiannon for her own sake, or risk the deadly past repeating itself once again.
Heat Scorching hot! Don't say you weren't warned.

USA TODAY bestselling author Scarlett Scott writes steamy Victorian and Regency historical romances with strong, intelligent heroines and sexy alpha heroes. She lives in Pennsylvania and Maryland with her Canadian husband, their adorable identical twins, a demanding diva dog, and one zany cat.
This is my 79th book by Scarlett Scott. She is definitely one of my top favorite authors. I have been reading her since 2016. I love her stories and her writing and she writes such damn good, yummy, hot sex scenes. I know I will always get a good read from her.
OMG I freakin' loved this book. I wish I could give it 10 stars. I loved Rhiannon and Aubrey. I loved their story. I like the forbiddenness of it all. I loved Rhiannon and her stubbornness but Aubrey...Holy shit, he was fucking hot. He is definitely my new book boyfriend. WOW, the way Scarlett wrote him. I want him NOW! This book was so damn hot. The sex was freakin' off the chain. It seemed like the whole book was just sex, sex, sex, which I'll take any day. Yikes it was good. Such a great read. I am definitely adding to my favorite books read for Sept, 2025 list.
Aubrey Villiers, the Duke of Richford, has perfected the art of not caring one whit about anything except his pursuit of pleasure. Lady Rhiannon Northwick, has a plan to rid her innocence by infiltrating the sinful house party hosted by her older brother, The Duke of Whitby. Seducing his good friend, the brooding Duke of Richford, proves far more difficult. Torn between his demons, his loyalties, and the last woman on earth he should desire, Richford is faced with an impossible choice The fourth book in the series about a group of friends who happen to be Dukes, they form the Wicked Dukes’ Society & hold sinful house parties. I loved the feisty, stubborn Rhiannon – poor Aubrey never stood a chance. I also loved the brooding yet caring & at times tender Aubrey. Every time they are together sparks fly, the chemistry is off the scale. Rhiannon has been infatuated with Aubrey for years & as she’s matured so have her feelings, Aubrey has also fallen for Rhiannon but was the last to realise & admit it. I absolutely loved their journey to a HEA, it ticked all the boxes for me & I found it very hard to put down. A very well written, romance, which I loved I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own
Stupid stupid hero who came to terms with his feelings too late and the heroine was too quick to forgive him. I could never forgive him for pulling OW to make her hate him especially the scene when the bish was seated on his lap, bare-breasted. Even if he was in a drunken stupor at the time, he could’ve easily resisted her and pushed her off his lap! It broke my heart when poor Rhiannon had to witness all that!
Scarlett does it again!! Duke With A Lie is another wonderful, witty, fun, angsty and extremely unputdownable story. I always say, at the end of each book in this series, it was my favorite and this one is nothing short of that!!
I was entranced by this brother’s best friend (my favorite trope), masquerade house party with looots of spicy scenes.
Aubrey Villiers (Duke of Richford) and Lady Rhiannon Northwick (sister of Aubrey’s best friend and fellow Wicked Duke, Rhys, Duke of Whitby) have been circling each other since they were children. Rhiannon has been crushing/in love with Aubrey since she was very young but Aubrey has been in his own world of debauchery and vise and these wicked house parties for many years and thinks that he is not worthy of love and he also fears falling in love and following in his father’s footsteps (no spoilers).
The character development and world building in this story was incredible! I could feel the angst that Rhiannon felt in arguing with Aubrey about being sent home or staying and experiencing all the house party had to offer a v1rg1n.
I could feel how torn Aubrey was in allowing Rhiannon to stay at the party so he could protect her but allow her some leeway in experiencing all the house party and he had to offer!
It was wonderful to see some of the past characters play a part in this story and I canNOT wait for number 5!! Unfortunately, that also means the end of the series. 😢. Please note, that this HEA story is a standalone but it does add a little if you read the previous stories.
Pick up this amazing, witty (the banter is off the scale!), touching, angsty, spiiicy, unputdownable book!! You will not be sorry!!
Brother's best friend trope is an absolute favorite of mine. Rhiannon, Whit's little sister is in love with her brother's best friend. She uses the scandalous house party as one last attempt to make him fall in love with her. Aubrey, Duke of Richford, denies his attraction to Rhiannon due to his friendship and knowing he is all wrong for her. His attempts at protecting her from others outs them together and she quickly breaks down his walls. A few days educating Rhiannon complicates everything between them. How can either go back to the life they led previously? This book is absolutely great! It has humour, love, spicy scenes that set you on fire, characters with depth, and even blackmail. I look forward to the next book in this series and other future books by Scarlet Scott.
OMG!! I loved this!! This is Rhiannon & Aubrey's story & it was awesome!! She's set to be married but she wants some freedom first before she has to settle down. You know what they say, naughty house parties lead to naughty shenanigans!! Aubrey has noticed her for a while, but it's complicated, she's his best friend's sister. He takes it upon himself to protect her reputation & thwarts her curiosity at every turn!! But she's determined to know EVERYTHING & she gives him a run for his money! They finally stop fighting things & give in to the sparks between them. The spice was fantastic & the story was amazing!! Highly recommend this series & author!
Ahh, there’s not a more enjoyable read than a Scarlett Scott, historical romance. Rhiannon and Aubrey’s love story sizzled off the pages. He’s a close friend of her brother’s, and she has desired him for some time, but to him that makes her off limits. She sneaks off to a wicked house party that she knows he’ll be attending, to try and work her magic on him . He tries his best to discourage her and get her to go home, but then she makes him an offer he can’t refuse! The pathway to HEA does not always run smoothly though, and our delightful lovers must endure many bumps in the road before they get there.
Sweet and romantic story. Rhiannon knows she will end up settling and live a boring life. So she does her utmost to have a little fun but her crush, Aubrey, has different plans. Aubrey will stop at nothing to save her from her very own downfall, knowing he has to deal with some of his own trauma. Even though they each have different goals, they can’t stop their chemistry.
Easy to read, great characters, and always love the introduction to future story characters.
The gorgeous blond Adonis the Duke of Richford, Aubrey has been trying to avoid his best friend and wicked duke member youngest sister. Lady Rhiannon who is a beautiful and independent young lady, and a very daring lady. She secretly snuck into one of her brothers wicked house party. And Aubrey immediately recognized her even with her mask on. When he tells her to go home she refuses. Since he feels obligated to watch over her they eventually become close! This is such a beautiful love story with lots of steamy love scenes ❤️🔥❤️ Unfortunately the beautiful Rhiannon falls in love with Aubrey but he does not believe in love due to what happened to his parents. I really enjoyed this book so much, I fell in love with them! This book might be my favorite one in this wonderfully wicked series!
Scarlett Scott has hit it out of the ballpark again with another fantastic spicy edition to “The Wicked Dukes” series. I have loved reading this series of dukes who are the founding members of The Wicked Duke’s Society. It’s a secret club of the ton that have parties where you leave your modesty and sexual morals at the front door because the parties are all about pleasure and indulgence.
This fabulous book is the love story of Aubrey Villiers, the Duke of Richford and Lady Riannon Northwick; the younger sister of Aubrey’s good friend and fellow Wicked Duke, Rhys Northwick, the Duke of Whitby.
At three and twenty, Rhiannon has snuck into one of the Wicked Duke’s Society naughty house parties. She is due to announce her engagement to the very nice but most boring man alive, the Earl of Carnis. She wants to feel passion before she starts her boring life with her boring husband and she has one man in mind to teach her. The man she has been in love with since first meeting him as a very young woman- the Duke of Richford.
Richford has been lusting after Rhiannon since she came out in society but being the sister of one of his best friends, she is definitely off limits to him. He’s a damaged soul who never wants to marry but feels a responsibility to protect Rhiannon when he recognises her even in her disguise at the house party. He has learnt from his traumatic experiences in his past that feelings for anything or anyone are not necessary and not real anyway.
Passions run high and fast between them right from the beginning. Rhiannon is a stubborn and feisty woman who knows her own mind and has no problem arguing or shouting at Richford when she thinks he’s wrong. He enjoys her spirit and straight talking. He calls her “minx” when they are alone. Richford manages to convince himself that in protecting Rhiannon from the other men at the party he allows himself to become her teacher in the passion she is looking for but only for the duration of the party. Both of them are made for the other, one of them just doesn’t know it yet.
As they spend more time together trying to avoid Rhiannon’s brother at the party they both realise their feelings for the other. One is thrilled and the other is terrified and behaves very badly. A fellow Wicked Duke manages to convince Richford to do the right thing but he might be too late, he also might lose the friendship of one of his best friends for his lack of honour.
This book gave me all sorts of feels. I love Rhiannon’s passion for life and how she goes after what she wants at any cost. Richford is deep down a scared little boy who has to act without feeling to protect himself and anyone who is around him. He’s afraid to fall in love but he’s a very kind and attentive man when he’s listening to his heart and not his head. This story has a lot of humour and passion.
Scarlett Scott is the queen of red hot passionate books. Her writing of love scenes are so well written and with a fantastic main plot, wonderful secondary characters, with a touch of angst and some hints at the next duke’s story, this book captivated me from the first page. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute tucking into this book. Each book can be read individually but the Wicked Dukes are in all of the books together. I would definitely recommend this book and series to anyone who enjoys steamy historical romance novels.
I received a special copy from the author. I’m voluntarily leaving this review.
On the surface, Aubrey Villiers, Duke of Richford, appears not to care about anything but his pursuit of pleasure. Lady Rhiannon Northwick has found out about her brother's and his friends' indecent parties, and she longs for a bit of experience before agreeing to a match with a staid suitor. When Aubrey discovers Rhiannon, he means to put an end to her scheme, but the minx is more trouble than he bargained for.
This is the fourth book in the Wicked Dukes Society series, featuring a group of dukes who run a secret society for scandalous house parties. While the book can stand alone, I recommend reading the previous book featuring Rhiannon's brother, Rhys (Duke of Whitby). Aubrey's and Rhiannon's meeting is alluded to in that story.
Whenever everything else I'm reading feels dull, I can always count on a Scarlett Scott book to liven things up! This was another winner for me: fun, sexy, and easily devoured in an afternoon. Also, this whole series has been excellent for teasing the next couple...I was already excited for Aubrey and Rhiannon, and now I'll be on pins and needles waiting for Riverdale and his Lady Blue!
Tropes: Brother's Best Friend/Best Friend's Sister, House Party/Forced Proximity, Secret Crush
I have loved Scarlett Scott’s Wicked Dukes Society series, so I jumped at the chance to do an advanced reader review for the latest entry, Duke with a Lie. In the previous book, we learned that Rhys and Miranda were not the only ones entangled in a secret affair during the Wicked Duke’s house party. Miranda had a brief run-in with a masked woman in the hallway of the non-occupied wing of the estate. With the latest book, we learn that the masked woman is none other than Lady Rhiannon, Rhys’ bold and impetuous younger sister.
In Duke with a Lie, Rhiannon decides to sneak into her brother’s wicked house party so she can engage in an illicit rendezvous before succumbing to a staid and boring marriage. Even more, she wants Aubrey, the Duke of Richford, who happens to be not only one of the wicked dukes, but also her older brother’s best friend. These two have to overcome many roadblocks to find their happily ever after - Aubrey’s fear of loving another, unwanted suitors on both sides, Rhys’ fury when he learns what’s been happening under his nose, an unhelpful mother, and a problematic “sort of” fiancé.
The chemistry between Rhiannon and Aubrey is - without a doubt - insane. Every time I think Scarlett Scott has created the most incredible pair, she finds a way to do even better. I read this book as an advanced reader copy.
Scarlett Scott did it again! I desperately need the next book in the series!!!! This book is AMAZING!! I think it’s her hottest story so far! Aubrey Villiers, the Duke of Richford, has perfected the art of not caring one whit about anything except his pursuit of pleasure. His past is as dark as his moods, and the rumors about his curious carnal needs would make any proper innocent miss swoon. Lady Rhiannon Northwick, however, is anything but proper. She has a plan in mind to rid herself of her innocence. Infiltrating the sinful house party hosted by her older brother is easy. Seducing his good friend, the brooding Duke of Richford, proves far more difficult. Torn between his demons, his loyalties, and the last woman on earth he should desire, Richford is faced with an impossible choice—sever all ties with Rhiannon for her own sake, or risk the deadly past repeating itself once again. OMG! The chemistry between these two! SOOO HOT, sexy and funny. She is smart, chaotic and innocent, but has an iron will: she wants Aubrey to see her as a grown woman and not the little sister of his friend. He, on the other hand, is a rake with a terrible reputation and a traumatic past who doesn’t believed in love or emotions. But it’s going to be impossible to fight their attraction, and lucky for us, we get to see how they enjoy again and again their little time together in the best possible way. The romance is passionate, with deep emotional moments and the perfect amount of drama. You don´t want to miss this one, especially if you adore the really good spicy. I highly recommend it! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Aubrey Villiers, Duke of Richford, may be the reigning monarch of brooding debauchery, but Lady Rhiannon Northwick crashes his pleasure parade with all the subtlety of a glitter cannon. She’s sunshine with a mission -specifically, to lose her innocence and gain one very reluctant rake. Too bad her target is her brother’s best friend and the poster boy for emotional constipation. This fourth installment in the Wicked Dukes’ Society series delivers everything its name promises: wickedness, dukes, and society-shocking steam. Rhiannon is a delight, stubborn, bold, and entirely too clever for Aubrey’s tortured soul. Their chemistry? Off the charts. Like, someone please check the wallpaper for scorch marks.
Aubrey tries valiantly to resist, but let’s be honest, he’s doomed from the moment Rhiannon sets foot in his vicinity. Watching him unravel is half the fun; the other half is Rhiannon refusing to let him wallow in his self-imposed misery. Their banter bites, their kisses burn, and their HEA is hard-won and deliciously satisfying. Scarlett Scott knows how to write a rake worth redeeming and a heroine who refuses to settle for anything less than love with fireworks. I devoured this book like it was the last scandalous tryst at a house party, and I regret nothing. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Aubrey Villiers, Duke of Richford, is best friend to Rhiannon's brother, Rhys, and cares only for chasing pleasure. Lady Rhiannon Northwick sneaks into one of the Wicked Dukes Society's scandalous party hosted by her brother and is determined to seduce and lose her innocence to Aubrey before marrying a man she does not love. Aubrey notices Rhiannon and is on a mission to protect her virtue and send her home but is fighting his lust and desire for her. Aubrey is fighting a past dark family trauma and does not feel worthy of Rhiannon nor plans to ever marry but gives in to Rhiannon when she makes him an offer he cannot refuse. Their steamy chemistry together is undeniable and passionate. Can Rhiannon finally melt Aubrey's cold complicated heart or will Aubrey break hers?
I loved Rhiannon's strength and determination as she and Aubrey heat up the pages of this well-written, brother's best friend romance filled with angst, witty banter, desire and very hot, sexy steam. Loved Rhiannon and Aubrey! Another great addition to this wonderful series!
Again another disappointment,, nowadays her books are a hit or miss, This one was a miss for me. The whole time the hero is stalking or running after the heroine at this scandalous house party hosted by her brother, who also happens to be hero’s best friend. He wants to protect her reputation or so he says. Literally the whole story is this. Heroine refuses to leave party because she wants to enjoy herself before getting married to some boring guy. Oh she’s also in love with the hero. In trying to protect her from other guys, they keep having sex all over the place. But hero has no plans for love or marriage due to ( of course) a traumatic event in his youth. Finally he leaves her there and goes away and she is heartbroken, especially when she sees him with another woman( distraction). Hero is alone drinking and miserable, heroine is alone and miserable. After a talk with a friend of his the. Hero comes to his sense and gets his girl. The end. I loved Duke with a debt, it had a great storyline. This was so blah I almost fell asleep reading it. Being generous with 3 stars.
Another Duke falls in the 4th installment of the Wicked Dukes Society. Aubrey, the Duke of Richford is harboring a dark past and wants nothing to do with tender feelings like love. He only pursues pleasure with no attachments. That is until he sees his best friend's little sister at a house party she has no business attending. Lady Rhiannon Northwick is betrothed and looking at a loveless marriage. She is hoping to rid herself of her innocence at a scandalous house party hosted by her brother. She is hoping that person will be the handsome elusive Duke of Richford. Richford wants to save her from scandal but can he save her from himself? There is a great back and forth between these two characters with tender and steamy moments. Their road to a HEA is fraught with misunderstandings. You will absolutely love this book!!! This author never disappoints. I received an ARC of this book and is my honest review.
Aubrey and Rhiannon were magic. They were meant to be. It’s always fun to watch a woman read a man well and know they’re meant to be and then not stopping until they come to their senses. Rhiannon was feisty and fun. She was an innocent, but not a ninny. She also knew the only man she really wanted was Aubrey. She wasn’t so incredibly naive that she ended up in a terrible position at the house party.
Aubrey was a wonderful MMC. He was kind and protective. It was so romantic. He was also quite naughty. He tried valiantly to resist Rhiannon, but he fell to her charms when her loving nature and bright spirit wouldn’t let him slink off.
This book had it all romance, spice, a small side of villainy, redemption, more spice, hope, and love (and a little more spice for good measure 😉).
I look forward to the next installment. I love that these books have a different plot than a typical HR. It’s a pleasure to read.
Aubrey and Rhiannon are incredible. I love their banter, whit, chemistry, and their care for one another. One jaded. One knows what she wants, isn't afraid to go get it, and with gentle persuasion, will get it without Aubrey even realizing what's happening. The whole setting and side characters that are woven through all of this series so far are so well executed. It keeps the others in the series fresh in your mind and the dynamic between all involved characters is wonderful. Scarlett's ability to allow the readers into the minds and hearts of her characters is what I find most intriguing about her writing. The characters are brought to life! While this series can be read as each individual books, I believe the whole thing, when read together, brings to much depth to the characters and stories themselves.
Scarlet Scott has done it again. What a marvelous series! The Wicked Duke's Society series is delectable. The latest, a Duke With A Lie, is a five star delight. Best friend's innocent sister secrets into the wicked house party with one purpose...make her brother's best friend, the only man she has ever wanted finally see her. Little does she know, he very much noticed her as she has blossomed into a woman. But Lady Rhiannon is the forbidden fruit. Aubrey, the Duke of Richford, is tortured by the honorable loyalty to his friend, his dark family past which spawned his vow to never wed, and his unquenchable desire caused by the minx who sets him a flame. I absolutely could not put The Duke With A Lie down. The banter was absolutly delicious!
Oh my …..what an absolutely fabulous story this is , duke with a lie the 4 th story in this great series , just when you thought it couldn’t get any steamier Scarlett proves you wrong (thankfully) . Aubrey and Rhiannon’s story will set your kindle on fire , there story will have you gripped and you will find it difficult to put down I assure you . A stunning story of a woman’s awakening into womanhood and a debauched rakish Duke knowing exactly how to do just that but will he lose his cold heart or will he just break hers ? A true fan of Scarlett will know that this story will have you glued to every page as always , as she never lets you down her stories are always on pre order…. another fabulous book thank you scarlett
Another story for the Wicked Dukes Society and passion exudes from the pages. Rhiannon is determined to love Aubrey in all his sinful ways. Aubrey has many reasons not to give in to her innocence but he cannot help the chemistry between the two of them. He is leagues above her in sexual experience but he is captured by her teasing and devotion. If only her brother was not his friend and fellow Duke… I cheered for Rhiannon to get the man she has loved for awhile. Aubrey never stood a chance. Wild, sensual, and fun antics made the book easy to devour in one sitting. I received an ARC but the honest opinion is my own.
This was a hot and spicy story. Rhiannon was quite a wilful lady and was determined to do what she wanted before she was married to a staid Earl. Her mother didn’t help matters as she was involved with her latest hobby and left Rhiannon to her own devices. Rhiannon had always liked Aubrey, Duke of Richford and was determined to have an assignation with him. I did feel that the pace was a little slow at first but then it was all action. Why do some men think that fighting will solve their problem? I did like the way Rhiannon stopped them! Aubrey had some traumatic incidents in his youth that prevented him from giving his love to another. Would Rhiannon be able to change his ways? This was an entertaining read and I look forward to the next book. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Duke with a Lie by Scarlett Scott was the ideal combination of steam with a little angst. The brother’s best friend trope is not usually one of my favorites, but it was well-written and engaging.
I readily admit that I have a weakness for the country house party trope which was definitely put to good use here. I enjoyed the chemistry between houseguests, especially Lady Blue and Lady Pink. The banter between the main cast of characters very entertaining. Of course, Scarlett’s steaminess warning on Amazon should be needed. You have been warned that this is definitely not a book to be read at work…unless you work from home.
What can I say, I loved this book. When I read the previous book, I could not wait for Aubrey and Rhiannon story. Aubrey is Rhiannon’s brother’s best friend, and he did not want to do anything to threaten his friendship. But Rhiannon wants him to notice her, so she goes to this wicked party her brother is throwing. Aubrey did not want her there because it was too wicked and she tempted him. I really enjoyed Aubrey and Rhiannon interaction; I just love Aubrey. Now I cannot wait for the next book. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest opinion.
I love this story the Lady Rhiannon Northwick, sneaks into her brother the dukes private party to find to see what all the fuse is about at her brothers famous house parties and finds more than she bargained for. Aubrey Villiers, the Duke of Richford is his best friend and sinful in every way. He’s secretly lusted after his little sister, knows she’s hands off, did she has other ideas. I love this story with their witty banter, the sizzling chemistry as Rhiannon and Aubrey clash heads I have voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
Another Wicked Duke who is determined to be a rake brought to his knees by a beautiful woman who is his equal in not only his wicked ways but in life..
Aubrey and Rhiannon are amazing.. I love the banter, whit, chemistry, love and understanding for each other.
One thing about any of Scarlett Scott's books she doesn't skimp out on the steam while giving a fulfilling story..
I loved everything about this book from the beginning to the end.. even King and his meddling..
I can't wait to see what else Scarlett has coming out with next!
Aubrey is one of the Wicked Dukes who hold scandalous house parties in the ton. Rhiannon is the younger sister of one of the other wicked dukes. She has held a tender for Aubrey for a while. Before she becomes betrothed to another she takes her chance to finally gain Aubrey’s attention by attending this masked house party. But she must be ready to push him to get past the line of friendship he must cross to make her his. I enjoyed the storyline but it was difficult to like Rhiannon in the beginning.
Fun, sexy and taboo. So the taboo is the best friend’s sister which according to the Wicked Dukes Society is definitely a no-no. Aubrey and Rhiannon heat up the pages and will scorch your fingers but there is also wanting and protecting. I laughed at the banter between Aubrey and Rhiannon and between the friends (King and his potions, hilarious). A lovely story that I could not put down. A tease of the next story (boy will it be something).
