Byron Knight’s world isn’t what most would consider perfect, but he is satisfied with the way his life is going. There are only two people in this world whom he loves — his brothers, Blake and Tyler Knight.
A woman is now threatening the carefully balanced beam the brothers have been holding on to, and her name is McKenzie Beaumont. Before she had entered the life of his brother Blake, no one, male or female, had ever come between the three men, but McKenzie and her twisted business has interfered for the last time in the Knight brothers’ lives, and she is about to feel Byron’s wrath.
McKenzie Beaumont hasn’t always been so closed off, so cold, or what the world sees as cold, but she’s learned the hard way that men are never to be trusted. If she stays ahead of the game, protects the women she employs, then the women — herself included — are the true winners, even if the men think they have all the control.
Who will prevail in this battle of the sexes? Who has the most to lose? Find out in the third installment of the Forbidden series by NYT best-selling author Melody Anne.

A bit disappointed in this one, which is really a surprise seeing that I’ve enjoyed pretty much all her other books. The story itself along with the issues that Byron has with McKenzie seems so far fetched. If he truly thought she ruined his brother why not just burn her attempts at starting over? He had the power to make it happen.
So, she closed her company starts a new one. She gets the phone call even if she does take the meeting without all the info she had so much more to bargain with. She could've easily flipped the table on him. They don't even discuss pay which is weird seeing her previous business. But she was made to be so helpless in going along with him when in all she should’ve been the one with all the control anyway. Then her ex pops up with the lamest back story ever he causes a bit of problems but then he’s gone.
The two work together but have this off and on, “he hates me, he hates me not” relationship. She complains about being in control but from the very beginning he has it all. Then the whole weekend you have no choice on spending with him mess was just silly. Now with the ending I’m supposed to wonder what’s really going on with Tyler but just from reading it I’m more likely not going to because it seems just as dumb as this. What woman in her right mind would get a man all worked up, standing strong, then throws that mess out at him. To make it even dumber she goes into the bathroom like after what she’s just told him was not enough to get her in a compromising situation with someone she doesn’t want to have sex with? Not was I expected at all.
Byron and Mckenzie story was Nice!! Yeah just nice. It deliver was promised. I wanted to see a cold, unfeeling, Byron but I got someone else. Not sure who but he wasn't the hard person that was led to be. Book had a lot of mistakes. Names were mixed. It was like someone was in hurry to just write down what came to their mind and never looked at the writing. This was the 3rd book in the series and I haven't an idea how old the brothers are!! Kinda confusing.
After readings books one and two, this one was disappointing. It ended too soon with underlying storylines incomplete. The prologue for book four does not appear to finish this story.
I would recommend this book just to follow the series.
It's been awhile since I read book #2, even though I had book 3 downloaded I was reading other things. I forgot how good this series is. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.
The three brothers have closed their hearts to love from childhood until now. One is married and learning how to love with his whole heart and to trust. The women have all been through rough times in their life whether it's due to family problems or to have their hearts broken by men. A must read to learn that the walls can come down and hoe to open your heart to love and to learn how to trust a partner. Melody Anne is a very talented writer and knows how to make you feel a part of their lives. Make sure to read all four books to follow all of their stories.
I had stops and starts with this story. The anguish coming off both characters (Byron and Mckenzie) was palpable and I needed a break to absorb the details as they came to an awareness of each other. I can't quite believe their story is done. A second story of growth seems in order. Perhaps this will show up in Tyler's story.
This is the third book in this series and I’m hooked. I loved how we stay on edge, wondering what went wrong in McKenzie’s life. Had some tears about her sister. Byron really fought his feelings for her, and was so distrustful. Thankfully they get a happy ever after. The last book is about the youngest brother (Tyler). I highly recommend this series.
‘Betrayed,’ is book three in the Forbidden series, and delves into the complex characters that are Byron and Mckenzie. We are able to see the events that led them to becoming the strong and wounded people the are. It has, by far, been my favorite of three books in this series. There is tragic and deadly events, heartbreak, betrayals, that ultimately brings us to hope and love.
From bitter hatred of the opposite sex, the h/h got together despite themselves.. I wasn’t pleased about the underhanded way he had his first weekend together. But the overall story was good.
Where are you Piper Covington? Are you hiding from us? Besides that it was a good series. To read for ever ago. Three stars yes as one fades away as I wait.
Another great book from this author, Mckenzie finally found a man that she could trust, and Byron let himself be happy, all they needed was the right one.
I loved this book couldn't put it down. Byron Knight blames McKenzie Beaumont for the changes in his brother Blake who is now married to Jewel. McKenzie had opened an accounting company with her friend Zach after closing down her business, but she was not happy when Byron called to hire her. After spending time together Byron felt that McKenzie is hiding something from her past and he was determined to find out what it is. Little by little McKenzie started opening up to Byron telling him about her twin sister and her mother and the reason why she had opened the escort service for men. McKenzie's past came back and threaten her because Nathan wanted what she had taken from him when she left him. McKenzie started falling for Byron but she didn't want to admit it to herself and especially to him. Byron was fighting with himself because he didn't want to admit falling for McKenzie, but then he found himself waiting for her in her office because he couldn't stay away anymore.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Betrayed takes a dramatic turn with the introduction of McKenzie Beaumont, who challenges the dynamic between the Knight brothers. Byron’s protective nature and the tension between him and McKenzie keep the story gripping. The book explores power struggles, loyalty, and revenge, all while keeping the chemistry sizzling. It’s a thrilling continuation with high stakes.
Meet the ever brooding Byron Knight. Byron's world isn’t what most people would consider perfect, but he is satisfied with the way his life is turning out. There are only two other people in this world whom he loves and that is his two brothers, Blake and Tyler Knight.
Now a woman is threatening the carefully balanced beam they've created. The brothers have been holding on with. The woman is McKenzie Beaumont. Before McKenzie had entered into the life of his brother Blake. Not one person male or female, had ever come between the three brothers. Now McKenzie and her crazy and twisted business has now interfered for the very last time in the Knight brothers’ lives. McKenzie is about to feel the strength of Byron’s wrath.
Gorgeous McKenzie Beaumont hasn’t always been so shy, closed off, cold. Only the world sees as McKenzie as cold. McKenzie’s learned the extremly hard way that you can never trust men. Even if McKenzie stays way ahead of the game to protect the women she employs. Then all the women including herself — are the true winners. Men think that they have control how wrong can they be?
I need more than 5 *s but again need to settle for 5. I'd recommend this author and all her books
What can I say... the woman knows how to write and am never disappointed. Another wonderful instalment to an exciting series. Byron Knight is as smug and arrogant as it gets until he meets McKenzie Beaumont who is a successful, secretive, introverted businesswoman that he's both angry and intrigued by after one kiss. They are both broken individuals who find themselves within each other but can't seem to trust their feelings enough to truly give more. How they get to a place of acceptance is a heated passionate journey filled with revelations that come back to self evaluation. My only complaint would be that I wish we got an epilogue of how their journey continues after the finally came together. Nevertheless, well done once again Melody...looking forward to Tyler's story.
Melody Anne has a way with complicated storylines. And this series has had plenty of that with Blake's story. But, Byron and McKenzie have surpassed that level. These two have a lot of issues individually and together. I have to admit that this one wasn't my favorite. I didn't feel a strong connection to the characters, at least, not as much as Blake and Jewell. But, that didn't make the story any less interesting. McKenzie's past was horrible, and it shed a whole new light on her. I did feel like things were rushed at the end, and I wanted some closure with her and Nathan. Maybe that will come later in the series. I am looking forward to the next book, especially after that intriguing epilogue.
Best book so far in the series. We finally get to see why McKenzie is so cold and closed off. Byron is a much nicer character than his brother Blake but no less alpha for it. Great to see love wins in the end for these two people who were determined never to love. The sex scenes are fewer than in the pervious two books but the story is quicker moving than BIake's and Jewell's. My only issues were couple of editing blips, the wrong brother was said to be speaking (Blake when it should have been Byron) and when it said it was Jewell and it was obviously McKenzie. Roll on March for Tyler's story.
This was an amazing story as all of Melody Anne's books are. This is McKenzie and Byrons story. McKenzie had a rough childhood. She was determined to never trust anyone again. Byron always vowed to never be like his father. He swore he would never fall in love and become weak. He is out for revenge on McKenzie. He wants to ruin her life like he believes she did with his brother Blake. If you want to know what happens with them you will need to go out and buy this book. If you haven't read any of this series yet you need to do so. Start with book 1, because they all tie in together. I can't wait for Tylers story.
Love the chemistry between McKenzie and Byron. Hilarious how they fight there feelings towards each other to protect themselves from exactly the same reason without knowing it. Bill is such a character a great asset to the story his ability to get through the tough exterior of the brothers is uncanny. Nice to see that Blake and Jewel are getting along so well. Nathan was a jerk of epic proportions it would have been nice to see Byron take him down a peg or two. Heads up the epilogue isn't really an epilogue. It is more like the smallest hint possibly to the next book, nothing about how things were going between McKenzie and Byron. They aren't even mentioned.
I've found MacKenzie an intriguing character since the first book, got a few glimpse of her in book two, and finally this book came out.
On the surface, MacKenzie seems like the cold calculated owner of relinquish control; beneath it hides a person who gives, loves, who is loyal and never gives up. Among the brothers, I like Byron a bit more than Blake though at times I really want to just smack some sense in him. Love the bantering and chemistry between Mac and Byron, and I also love that this book has more plot going on versus the last 2 books.
The ending felt a little bit rushed so I'm hoping there will be some glimpse into Byron and MacKenzie's life in the next book.
The Forbidden Series continues with the second Knight brother, Byron, who is a cynic regarding true relationships. He feels that McKenzie Beaumont ruined his brother and is determined to find out what she is up to.
Getting involved with McKenzie has Byron confused about his feelings. McKenzie has been hurt so many times so she doesn't trust anyone and tries to maintain the attitude that she doesn't need anyone -- until she gets involved with Byron Knight. They both learn a lesson in everything and everyone are not necessarily what you perceive them to be.
There are some authors that you know will not disappoint you and Melody Anne is one of those for me. I'm going to admit I was pleasantly surprised, I really was not sure there was any way I could like McKenzie Beaumont, but Melody Anne did it, she made me like her. Byron Knight took some to like too but then so did his brother, Blake. It's that whole bad boy that has another side he doesn't even know he has, plus the heroine that has a tortured past she trying to overcome, that makes for a great story.
I've read all of MA's books and love them. This is the first that was a little disappointing. I found it to have a lot of repetition in the story, and other parts where I kept waiting for McKenzie to fill in more blanks about her past in more detail. Her personal relationships or lack thereof. This felt more like a tennis match and then the book suddenly stopped. Still looking forward to book four, and more Anderson's and Storms!
