I was seconds from making the biggest mistake of my life—marrying a man I didn’t love—when a helicopter crashed my wedding and out stepped the only man I’ve ever wanted. The one I thought I’d lost forever. Knox Vance. Billionaire. Obsessive. My worst mistake and my greatest sin.
He throws me over his shoulder and kidnaps me on my wedding day. Why?
Turns out, Knox just found out I’m carrying his baby. And now? He’s never letting me go.
USA Today bestselling author Emma Bray writes intense, steamy romances with possessive alpha males who’ll stop at nothing to claim the women they want. Emma’s instalove stories are filled with heat, passion and happily ever afters.
I feel sorry for myself for finishing this when I know I wouldn't like it very much. Sometimes, I need to remind myself that it's okay to DNF a book when I know I wouldn't like it. Nothing about those last 70 pages would save this book for me.
This is the story of a man kidnapping a bride on her wedding day. Yup, very dramatic. Very Bollywood-like. Complete with slowmo (inside my head that is) helicopter scene. After that, it was pretty much a captor-captive situation. Our girl wanted nothing of him and our guy wouldn't listen. Cue the body-betraying trope. I loathe this trope. Detest it to high heaven. Especially in this situation. Nothing is sexy about this book. I feel suffocated for our girl. Plus, there is no plot. Only repeated scenes of the same conversation again and again.

Short but will keep you turning the pages until the last page has been turned. These two will have you cheering them on from the sidelines really. Seraphina is sweet she wants to marry a respectable man live a peaceful life and on the outside that is exactly what she is getting but (mind you I did say the outside) and her friend drops in to save her from doom. Knox sexy as all get our savior lands his helicopter on the day of her wedding picks her up throws her over his shoulder so to speak taking her away from something that isn’t freedom and to his private island away from everything and everyone in hopes the truth between them will come to the light. Knox sexy as all get out tad bit crazy …okay all the way crazy but he cares for his care and isn’t going to allow her to marry into something that is going leave her unhappy he wants family, marriage, all of it. She wants space a little freedom will she open up to him but will he show her his true self because that is the only way for her to open up to him, will it be enough for her to trust him, will he realize she wants room to be herself, to breath, work, will she choose to stay because he gave her reason to, and is there some form of happiness for the two of them especially with their bumpy beginnings?
3.5 I just discovered that this is a 3-parter. I would recommend waiting until all three are published. Hard to rate until I read the whole lot. The first part doesn’t really work as a novella, it ends in kind of a cliffy.
Seraphina fled from Knox Vance, terrified by the raw intensity of their connection and the all-consuming dominance of this magnetic man. And while Knox gave her the space she thought she needed, there was no way he would stand idly by while she tried to marry another man. I found myself completely captivated by Seraphina’s internal tug-of-war—her desperate attempts to push Knox away, even as every fiber of her being yearned for him. His dramatic “rescue” to stop her from making the biggest mistake of her life was a jaw-dropping entrance worthy of James Bond. The explosive chemistry between Seraphina and Knox leaps off the page, and his unwavering adoration is utterly seductive. Yet, as much as he worships her, his alpha tendencies can be infuriating as hell, especially when he makes decisions without consulting her, convinced he knows what’s best. His certainty that Seraphina belongs to him, and that she’s merely lying to herself, makes him impossible to reason with, especially now that she’s carrying his child. What Seraphina calls possession, Knox insists is protection. And while she’s no shrinking violet and refuses to be steamrolled into anything, Knox’s relentless pursuit, determined to remind her of the passion they once shared, is an irresistible force. Seraphina’s fear of losing her independence is as compelling as it is relatable, for while she surrenders to Knox in the bedroom—where he’s determined to claim her again and again—she worries he’ll consume her world entirely. Yet, it’s that very independence, her fire and defiance that Knox loves so much. He wants to keep her safe, but he doesn’t want to break her, he wants a partner to stand by his side. This possessive romance gave me serious flashbacks of the darkly obsessive heroes penned by Emma’s alter ego E.B. Fox, though Knox never went as far as Dante Severino in her Marked for Him trilogy. And while I half-expected Knox to keep Seraphina captive on his island until she bent to his will, they manage to forge a truce of sorts—though the final battle for their hearts is far from over and I look forward to seeing what their next move will be. He came back for her. And he made sure she couldn’t walk away.
Seraphina (h) is moments from marrying the respectable man she convinced herself she needed. That ends the second Knox (H) lands a helicopter at the ceremony and carries her off in front of everyone. He says he’s saving her from a lie. She says he’s stolen her freedom. On his private island, cut off from the world, the truth between them has nowhere to hide.
Knox doesn’t pretend to be gentle. He tells her she’s not a prisoner, yet every door is locked. Then he drops the truth that changes things, she’s pregnant with his child. He knew before she did. She’s no longer just running from him. She’s deciding what kind of life she can live, and what kind of man Knox really is.
He wants a future. Marriage. Family. Her. Seraphina wants space for herself, but each time she pulls away, she feels the pull of what still exists between them. He’s intense and obsessive, but never indifferent. She’s stubborn and guarded, but never unaffected. When she tests his boundaries, he follows through. Not with violence, but with control that exposes what she won't admit out loud. She wants him to hold her there, long enough to feel safe.
What follows isn’t surrender. It’s a shift. Knox begins to show his fear, not just his force. Seraphina starts to listen, not just to him, but to herself. Their power struggle turns into a complicated kind of trust, sharp at the edges, full of friction, but laced with something real. He gives her room to work and to breathe, but not to disappear. She agrees to stay, for now, because she chooses to.
Hot and steamy second chance, obsessive, captive romance, exploring love, control, power dynamics, autonomy, desire, tension, dominance, submission, trust, identity, possession, and resistance. It's not the beginning of an easy love story, but the start of one that refuses to let go.
The Chains That Bind is the first book in the Belonging to Him Trilogy. This is a whole new type of book by author Emma Bray. I have read a number of her books over the years but most were novella length and sweet, naughty and fun. This story is darker, longer, and the trilogy will follow the same couple, Seraphina Vale and Knox Vance. They had been in a relationship but she left him eighteen months ago as he was too controlling. Now she is getting ready to walk down the aisle and marry Richard. But before that can happen Knox kidnaps her, as he has been stalking her since they shared one hot night together a few months ago. Knox is not only obsessed with Seraphina but has also figured out that she is pregnant, and just knows the baby is his. So by his thinking he is not about to let any other man every have what is his, both Seraphina and the baby she carries. Even as Seraphina fights Knox and tries to get her independence again he is not about to let her go this time. Their attraction is sizzling hot, their feelings are intense, and the push pull will have you spinning around and around. I liked this first book in the trilogy. I am interested to find out what happens next between Seraphina and Knox, as their story is just getting started it seems.
I loved this!! I have been reading Emma for a while now and I was so excited by this one! This is first off a full book but their story has three parts. So a solid read but more complications and excitement on the way! The chemistry between these characters... Wow. Right away I was loving the excitement that came off the pages and loved how their connection was so passionate.
Despite it all, they were it for one another.
I understand her to a point, but we all have different perspectives. He is so...yum! I LOVED how he came for her. I'm not forgetting that one! It was so exciting and energy-filled right from the start. They are it for the other and they cannot keep away. She feels lost in him because they are so good together but he needs control. He doesn't want to give up too much control because of fear of her leaving. He says it himself in one particular line that sums up the entire crux their issues. As long as there is respect and love there can be changes for them. There is more added to their drama in a good way and I am so excited so see where this all leads!! I hope she doesn't run again!!

Seventeen months, three weeks, and four days, that is how long Tech billionaire Knox Vance has given Seraphina Vale the space she wanted after leaving him. But on this her wedding day to another man he is taking back what is his. The Chains That Bind is the first book in the author’s Belonging to Him Trilogy, and a scorching hot read. Vance’s helicopter wedding intrusion was classically good. Seraphina may have seemed outraged but methinks she doth protest too much. Enjoyed the writing, characters and narrative of this entertaining story and the push and pull between the leads that won’t be finished in this book as the drama, passion, surprises, emotion, and obsession hold the reader engaged. TBC.

The Chains That Bind is a fast-paced, steamy, and drama-filled start to Emma Bray’s latest trilogy. When Seraphina is literally kidnapped from the altar by the obsessive Knox Vance—billionaire, ex-lover, and surprise baby daddy—you know you're in for a wild ride.
The chemistry between the leads is intense, and while Knox’s alpha, controlling nature might raise eyebrows, the emotional pull and sizzling tension keep the pages turning. Seraphina’s inner battle between her heart and head adds depth, even if the “kidnapping for love” premise is over-the-top (in the best kind of way).
With its addictive plot and cliffhanger setup, this book is perfect for fans of possessive romance with high stakes and hotter moments. A strong opener that leaves you eager for book two!

A great start to this series Belonging to Him. This is a fast paced, steamy, possessive romance story. Seraphina thought she wanted a quiet, normal life so she decided to marry Richard, but deep down she still needed and wanted Knox her billionaire, dominate, sexy ex. Knox let her go eighteen months ago because she said she wanted space. Well that didn't include marrying him, so he decided to end it and take her back. This is their journey. The story flows well and will keep you interested till the end. The characters fit well together and have sizzling chemistry. I am looking forward to reading the next installment.
Being kidnapped for your protection on your wedding day is a bad thing, or is it? Seraphina is marrying a man whom she doesn’t love, but Knox arrives in a spectacular fashion and whisks her away. She doesn’t like the controlling nature of Knox, but her body wants what her mind is fighting! This is the first installment of a trilogy and it will have you hooked and reading without breaks. I can’t wait to read the next book! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This poor girl. First she is set marry some guy she doesn’t love. Then Knox comes to the rescue, although it’s not really a rescue as he kidnaps her. She keeps telling herself she doesn’t want him and she can resist him, however her brain did not relay this message to the rest of her body. I adored this book. I finished it in one sitting and can’t wait to get into the next book. This is going to be a fantastic trilogy.

Please check all CW and TW before starting this one. If you want a MMC that at the 11th hour realizes that he is close to loosing his girl, this is it for you! Knox steps in right as Seraphina is ready to marry another man. The way he literally kidnaps her, swoon lol. As we see just how their relationship went previously you see why Seraphina acted the way she did but Knox is not letting that stop him from getting his girl.

This is the first book in Belonging to Him Trilogy. Seraphina and Knox has a past relationship which Seraphina felt Knox was too protective and intense. After leaving Knox she has found herself marrying a safe stable man 18 months later. Knox kidnaps Seraphina during her wedding vows. Seraphina and Knox's relationship is tumultuous. I found that I liked Knox's character more as the story went on. He doesn't hide who he is or what he wants. Looking forward to book 2.

What a great start to an exciting trilogy. Seraphina and Knox have a history that was intense, passionate but in Seraphinas eyes Knox was too much therefore she left him, not realising he never left her and on her wedding ( to another)he returned and reclaimed what was always his. Knox is possessive to the point of obsessed although he doesn’t see it that way. Seraphina is fiery and independent, their dynamics are so different so it’s going to be interesting to read what direction the author takes. A gripping story.
This is Book 1 in the Belonging To Him Trilogy by this author. It is a heartfelt romance between Seraphina and Knox. These two flawed but likeable souls and the unique plot make for an interesting read. What starts out as a one night stand turns into something more. It is a captivating love story with drama and steam, sexual tension and chemistry, action and suspense, and an interesting cast of secondary characters. An engaging page turner.

I liked this story so far. It ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, and I’ll probably start the next one to see where it goes. The constant push and pull between the characters started to feel a bit drawn out, though it does reflect how neither of them wants to give in. There’s definitely emotion, intensity, and some heat—enough to keep things interesting.

A steamy, twisty start to a trilogy full of passion, control, and second chances. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily sharing my honest opinion.
On her wedding day, Seraphina is stolen away by billionaire Knox, her obsessive ex. Their chemistry is fiery, the drama over-the-top, and the emotional stakes high. Expect cliffhangers, intensity, and a heroine caught between heart and reason.
This is Book One of the Belonging to Him Trilogy. The story pulls us into the lives of Seraphina and Knox. Their connection is full of tension, determination, fears and steam. However, as determined as Knox is, Seraphina continues to allow her fears to control her decisions. The story ends with a mini cliffhanger that leads us into the next book in the trilogy, Bound in Silk.

I love OTT possessive, obsessive romance so The Chains That Bind by Emma Bray definitely grabbed my attention. Just when Seraphina is about to marry Richard, Knox, her ex comes in and literally kidnaps her from the altar. Its been eighteen months since Knox let Seraphina go because she thought he was too controlling and possessive but he is done waiting. Its time she and everyone else learns who she truly belongs to. Can't wait for the next book!
The Chains That Bind Book 1 of Belonging to Him Trilogy. It's a steamy, opposites-attract, kidnapped bride, secret pregnancy, possessive billionaire takes his girl part 1 darkish romance. Seraphina is set to be married to a man she doesn't love when Billionaire Knox flies in to kidnap her. And he is not letting her go. Knox is possessive and dominant. Seraphina is spirited, sassy, and a bit scared. I can't wait to read the next installment.
This is a wonderfully written captivating romance from the very beginning with Knox and Seraphina as the main characters. Their journey is a page-turner with kidnapping, suspense, action, and sizzling chemistry. This is a story that will hold readers attention to see what happens next. The characters are amazing and can't wait to read the next.

I really liked this story so far. It ends on a cliffy but I'm about to jump right into the next one. The back and forth is a bit repetitive but that's because they are both stubborn and trying to not relent to the other. So much feels, spice and obsession. Can't wait to continue and see where the mcs story goes.
This is a spectacular beginning to an amazing story. It starts off with a helicopter scene and a kidnapping from a wedding and only gets better. Knox and Seraphina are colorful characters that drew me into this story with their antic and banter. I can't wait for the next book.

Seraphina may have been about to marry a man she didn't love but when Knox comes blazing into her wedding taking her, claiming her as his, no matter how much she protests he takes what he wants and he wants her and his child! Well written engaging, desires, captive, cliffy ending.

Seraphina and Knox weave a deeply affecting and suspenseful narrative about passion and love. I was really captivated by the storyline and characters and they both kept me on my toes wondering what would happen next. I am excited to start reading book number 2 now and see how Knox and Seraphina's continues.
