This was the text for one of my nutrition courses, and I found every word of it interesting. It is organized by life stages (Preconception, Pregnancy, Lactation, Infant, Toddler, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Older Adult) describing the physiological changes, nutrition needs, common nutrition problems and at-risk deficiencies, supplements, resources, etc. Every other chapter describes the problem conditions and interventions for each stage. This book will be a great resource for me.
I just finished this book for a course I was taking in Holistic Nutrition. The book is very well written, easy to understand, includes a great index, answers to review questions, and filled with a diversity of nutrition related information including preconception, pregnancy, lactation, infants, preschoolers, preadolescents, adolescents, adults, and elders. This book is a definite reference book to keep nearby at all times if you are interested or practicing in nutrition. I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to experience the material in this book. It opened my eyes and gave me insight through the past and into the future.
I wish they would have an email address that I could send edits to! There were several missed grammatical errors, missing review answers, and one answer in the wrong place, that stuff drives me crazy! Other than that it was some good info if a bit dry.
A great textbook that is one of the easiest to use I've ever had. Mine was an ebook rented for my class, and I am leaning toward purchasing the physical copy because it was such a great resource.
Another quick and easy reference guide. It was an optional textbook for my upper division nutrition class but more often than not, I found it really helpful.
informative and I encourage anyone to read nutrition education books only from authentic and accredited sources (and even then, be mindful of supporting evidence.) There is little external regulation or understanding of potential long term health hazards of certain aspects in food industry (genetically modified, uses of amino acids/vitamins, fad-diets, synthetically processed/modified foods), and it's good to find trustworthy sources as means to untangle the self from the common misconceptions of food advertisement and basic nutrition. Also includes physiology and structure of relevant body systems. What becomes of us is what we deserve if we continue to put so much trust of our well being in the hands of strangers. - stepping off soap box -
