One night spent giving into desires. The perfect fit. Synchronicity. But with some interests, comes conflict.

Tasmina

Suing my former modelling agency wasn’t exactly on any of my bingo cards. And what I didn’t expect to see when coming face to face with their lawyer?
The same man I had on his knees almost a year ago.
But it doesn’t matter how wonderfully our desires match. Or how only I get to see parts of him the world doesn’t. Or how perfectly me he makes me feel. The truth still remains.
He’s the opposing lawyer for a case I’m determined to win.
We both know this can never go anywhere as long as he’s on their side.
So, why does he keep trying?
Why won’t he drop the case?
What is he hiding?

Malcolm

For almost a year, I’ve dreamt about the unforgettable woman who made me hers on a sordid night.
I ate up every minute of it.
Trying to find her has proven impossible.
And now she’s here. The opposing client.
I can’t get enough of her. The way she takes what she needs from me. The way she makes me work for her. The way she smiles at me when she thinks I’m not looking.
She’s all I want. But she’ll never give me a real chance as long as she thinks I’m working for them.
If only she knew why I took this case.
But that’s the point.
It’s the only way to keep this secret hidden for good.

Permanent mastery is a quick spicy read with a female dom. Tasmina and Malcolm meet up at a hotel and share a night they’ll never forget. There’s plenty of spice and not too much plot, but sometimes that’s just right.

Tasmina is a fascinating character. She’s so strong and driven to go after what she deserves. And I appreciate the HEA.

I wanted to love this book—truly. It had all the elements I usually devour: fem dom, enemies to lovers, and a Black billionaire? Come on! That’s a dream lineup. It had the recipe for success, but unfortunately, it never fully landed for me. Malcolm and Tasmina had the potential to sizzle. Their chemistry was there, no question, but the author never quite committed to letting it unfold on the page. The beginning dragged—slowwwww—and the unnecessary dialogue nearly pulled me out of the story. Still, I stuck with it because I was holding out hope for strong on-page BDSM dynamics. Tasmina had the dom energy—effortless swag and control—while Malcolm was a responsive and eager submissive. Their dynamic worked, and I wanted so much more of it. More tension, more intimacy, more development. The business subplot added some exciting moments, but there were definitely missed opportunities to crank up the angst and deepen their emotional arc. Somewhere along the way, the plot started drifting and it felt like the author was just riding the vibes. And while the vibes weren’t bad, they weren’t strong enough to carry the story on their own. All in all, this book had a solid foundation and a compelling dynamic—I just wish it had been pushed a little further. I’ll definitely check out more from this author because the potential is there. I’m just hoping for a tighter execution next time.

Jia West’s Permanent Mastery is a high-heat, high-stakes standalone that delivers equal parts legal drama, scorching chemistry, and emotional tension. This isn’t just a steamy read—it’s a slow-burning collision of power, obsession, and forbidden desire.

At the center of the story are Tasmina, a fierce woman fighting a legal battle against her former modeling agency, and Malcolm, the mysterious billionaire attorney who—plot twist—just so happens to be the man she shared an unforgettable one-night stand with nearly a year ago. Their connection is immediate and fiery, but now they’re on opposing sides of a very public courtroom war. Talk about complications.

The setup is magnetic: enemies-to-lovers energy with a side of forbidden workplace romance. But what elevates the story is the layered tension between them. Tasmina is strong, unapologetic, and sensually dominant—her presence commands every scene. Malcolm, haunted by their night together, is both obsessed and tormented. He wants her, and he’ll do just about anything to get her, even if it means walking the line between ethical and explosive.

Their intimacy is raw, passionate, and vividly described. If you’re a fan of femdom dynamics or love watching two powerful people test each other emotionally and physically, this book checks all the boxes. West doesn’t just write spice—she writes connection, and the scenes between Tasmina and Malcolm sizzle with both heat and vulnerability.

The plot also holds its weight. Malcolm has secrets—big ones—that explain why he took the case, and those revelations only deepen the stakes. The legal conflict adds a sharp edge to their romance, creating a “will-they-won’t-they” push and pull that keeps the tension high throughout.

There’s also a satisfying emotional arc here. Despite their flaws, these two characters grow. The ending delivers on its promise of a hard-won HEA, with just enough hints (including some cleverly placed Easter eggs) to get readers excited about what’s next in the OnlySpice universe.

Permanent Mastery is bold, brazen, and beautifully unrestrained. If you enjoy billionaire romances with dominant heroines, intense sexual tension, and characters who don’t play by the rules, this one should be at the top of your TBR. It’s messy, magnetic, and unforgettable—in all the best ways.

My Rating System:
1⭐️: The book didn’t hold my interest and/or had significant issues that overshadowed any redeeming qualities for me, but generally not my cup of tea. Most likely did not finish the book.
2⭐️: The book didn’t quite resonate with me, and while my experience wasn’t remarkable, I did finish it. It had some redeeming qualities and potential but fell short in execution. Recommendable, though with some reservations.
3⭐️: Good read, but didn’t quite stand out. Still worth recommending to others.
4⭐️: Really enjoyed it and stayed engaged throughout. Would read the book again. Definitely recommendable.
5⭐️: Incredible writing that made me deeply connect with the characters. I was completely absorbed in the world and didn’t want it to end. This book stayed with me even when I wasn’t reading it. I'd gladly reread it and highly recommend it to everyone!.

This story follows Malcolm And Tasmina.

11 months earlier they meet though an app to get there sexual distractions out, with a smile on your knees from T who Malcolm knee Tasmina as and that’s a night that literally lives rent free in both of their minds to this point. T says that she’ll reach out again but then her account is deleted. But that doesn’t stop Malcolm who has been looking everywhere for this women.

Now 11 months later fate seems to have want them to run into each other yet again and the feelings they felt that’s night are still mutual. But now things are a bit difficult as he is the one on the other side of the table for whom she is suing, that same company she used to work for. And let’s just say they are a both a little shell shocked when they see each other again. This cause is sought out for weeks as the party being sued does not think they own anything to Tasmina. Though they shouldn’t they start up their meetings again in that one hotel room that they meant in 11 months ago. Things are going too smoothly and then the freaking shoe drops… there are articles that come out from Kris who is the one behind the scandaling the money from Tasmina. And that is when there relationship comes to an end. Tasmina thinks Malcolm is using her when that is not what he has been doing but insuring he is protecting a secret from his sister. Now that relationship with his sister is on the rocks with the truths that he is hiding from her.

The gestures that he shows towards Tasmina over the next several weeks to won her back are the sweetest someone could do, and the article he does an interview for. swoon 😍 they reconnect and are now in a relationship with true title.

There is a happy ending with Tasmina and Malcolm and I could not be more thrilled for him, even the relationship mends he does with Gia thanks to Tasmina.

The Easter eggs that are in the end of this book for the next one. Will it be following Kennedy and Christian 🤨

From Start to Finish

I enjoyed this book so much. From the first few pages I was hooked. I really enjoyed the page where Tasmina was under the desk giving Malcolm oral and he had to wait until she gave him permission to blow his load while there were two of his colleagues sitting across the table from him. I can't wait for the other books to come out. I will be impatiently waiting lol

This was fun and spicy 🌶️

This was a quick and fun read with tons of spice! Role reversal is the name of the game! The FMC doesn't have control in her career, so she exert the ultimate control in her private life, and a random encounter through an app introduces her to MMC who willingly gives up his control to her and later becomes intwined in her life in ways she never imagined. Give your book a shot you won't regret it!

Meh

I'm waffling between 2.5 stars and 3, but I'll be nice and give 3. Nope, at the last minute I changed my mind and will go with 2.5. There were hella grammatical errors throughout the book. Like at times it should've been she, but they wrote he messing with the whole perspective. Also, by the end of the book I still kind of felt like I didn't know the characters.

It was the dialogue that did it for me. It felt a little flat and forced…
I liked the premise of the story, it just wasn’t for me
