Love and Hockey #5

The Overtime Kiss: Love and Hockey, Book 5

Rate this book
Performed in duet by Teddy Hamilton & Brooke Bloomingdale!

Just what every bride dreams of—running straight from her cheating fiancé into the arms of a hot hockey star… and then getting hired as his kids’ nanny.

Tyler Falcon is protective, flirtatious…and frustratingly responsible. We almost did something reckless when he found me alone in my wedding dress, and I blurted out all the things I’d never truly experienced.

Now, the sexy single dad is saving me again with a job I desperately need—and a promise to never mention The Night of 1001 Confessions.

I live in his house. Take care of his kids. Pretend I don’t notice his heated gaze lingering on me after they fall asleep.

Until one night, the tension snaps.

Now we have a deal. Five lessons in seduction. No strings attached.

But he’s not just good in bed. He spoils me with thoughtful gifts and supports my dreams. For the first time, I feel like I belong.

Except…this was never meant to last. I’m his employee. He has kids to protect. And neither of us can afford to make a mistake.

The more nights we spend tangled up together though, the harder it is to pretend it’s just physical. Because I’m not only falling for my boss—I’m falling for the man whose kids have stolen my heart.

Yes yes yes. This was the sweetest MMC by Lauren Blakely I’ve read so far and I’m literally in love with him. The little notes, the way he paid attention to her, her relationship with Parker😭❤️ my favorite out of the series so far❤️

💋 The Overtime Kiss by Lauren Blakely
❄️ Love and Hockey #5

A book that almost got it right.
This had every ingredient I should’ve fallen for—single dad, runaway bride, nanny romance, spicy lessons, emotional pining, and those soft found-family vibes. I mean, on paper? It sounded like my next fave. But in reality? It dragged. A lot.

This story was 510 pages when it could’ve been 350 max.
That extra length didn’t build tension—it chipped away at the pacing until I was just skimming to survive 💀 And it’s sad, because the premise had me fully locked in.

Sabrina deserved more depth.
She ran from a toxic relationship, stood her ground, started over… but all of that got treated like background noise. Her healing arc had so much potential but never fully bloomed. Tyler? He’s a literal sweetheart. Like, down-bad dad energy. But the instant devotion without enough buildup made it hard to buy into the romance’s emotional weight.

Still—the moments with his kids? GOLD.
That’s where this book felt most alive. The skating lessons, family bonding, soft morning routines? I could’ve lived in those scenes. Their found-family dynamic had me soft 🥹

Now the romance... is sloooow burn + hot once it hits.
The spicy "lessons" were fun and gave Sabrina agency. Tyler being gentle, patient, and all-in? Yeah, I swooned. But the connection still felt surface-level.
And don’t get me started on the third act conflict—miscommunication strikes again, ruining the momentum.

Final verdict?
It’s sweet. Comforting, even. But forgettable. It didn’t leave a dent in my soul like I wanted it to.
Would I recommend this specific book? Meh.
Would I read more from this series? Honestly... I need a break. I have an ARC left, but after that? I’m pressing pause.

━━━━━━━━━━━⊱♡⊰━━━━━━━━━━

okay so—i loved the first 2 books in this series, but the last two? not my vibe
so like...i’m cautiously stepping into this one. hopeful but not delulu.
also?? it’s been forever since i read a single parent romance so this might just revive me.

💍 single dad x runaway bride nanny
❄️ skating coach meets sexy hockey star dad
💍 forced proximity but make it spicy lessons edition

i’m fully expecting sweet found family moments mixed with tense late night eye contact and lingering touches in the kitchen 🫠

fingers crossed for soft dads, emotional pining, & a HEA that hits.

pls be good pls be good pls be good 💌🥹

Did I finish this 500+ page book in less than 24hrs? well yes 🙂‍↕️ I think Lauren Blakely will be an autobuy author from now on 🤭

Sabrina has just left the altar after finding out her fiancé was cheating on her. She runs into the father of the daughter she coaches at the bar and sparks fly instantly. They've known each other for a while but Tyler doesn't want to take advantage of the fact that she was just about to get married. He's a gentleman through and through. Sabrina has the worst family and essentially gets outcasted and has nowhere to live. She gets hired as the nanny for Tyler's kids and the lines begin to blur as they clearly have massive feelings for each other.

Tyler is the sweetest and most protective man ever, and he pays attention to everything when it involves Sabrina 🥹 Sabrina is the best nanny and she clearly adores his kids and is determined to win them over, as the best nanny. She's dealing with trust issues so there are some bumps along the road but these characters are so well developed and their relationship was 🥵 Tyler definitely treats her like a queen! Absolutely loved his grand gesture at the end 🥹 I'm a sucker for the found family trope and since Sabrina has been pretty alone all her life, I loved seeing her and Tyler become a cute little family.

What to expect:
⛸️single dad/nanny
⛸️he fell first
⛸️found family
⛸️hockey romance
⛸️forced proximity
⛸️acts of service

Thank you Lauren Blakely and Hambright PR for the arc!

The Overtime Kiss is the 5th entry in the Love and Hockey series from Lauren Blakely. This series has brought me hours of enjoyment and I always look forward to a new release! I am so excited to see that this isn't the last book and we will get more couples from this great team.

I so enjoyed learning more about Tyler and his awesome kids. He's a hardworking dad and he co-parents well with his ex, which is always great to see. He was such a kind, caring guy and I really liked him. His secret crush on Sabrina was adorable and he definitely fell first for her.

Sabrina starts the book off by dumping her cheating fiance. Only, when she leaves him at the altar, her family is incensed and actually cut HER off. That always baffles me when parents are this crappy, but that's romance reasons for you! But she doesn't let that get her down, she digs deep and picks up small jobs here and there. She's determined to make her dreams come true.

When the opportunity for Sabrina to become Tyler's live in nanny arises... I was giddy. We know they both have feelings for one another, though they are trying their best to resist them. Putting them in close proximity like this is gonna turn up the heat.

They can barely hold back and the remedy seems to be a limited fling. 5 sexy bucket list items of Sabrinas and when the list is done, so are they. They got into some very sexy fun times and I enjoyed it so much.

I was a bit put off by the conflict in the 3rd act of this one. I know we need miscommunication sometimes, but this one felt like a 180 from all the progress they were making. But it was only a slight annoyance in the light of how much I enjoy this series!

Narrated in Duet by Teddy Hamilton & Brooke Bloomingdale. As always Lauren Blakely provides top tier audio books. It's the optimal way to read her books, in my opinion.

The fourth book in the series was a complete miss for me and I ended up DNFing. I had a slightly better reading experience with the Overtime Kiss, but still not great.

I still think these books are unnecessarily long. I was honestly skimming at times because some parts of the story were quite repetitive. As for the characters, Sabrina and Tyler lacked depth in my opinion. I don’t even really understand how and why Tyler became so obsessed with Sabrina at the start of the book. The author just tells us that he is. While they had some sweet and steamy moments, I just didn’t believe in their connection because of how surface-level they were. The miscommunication in the third act breakup didn’t help either.

Overall, while an improvement over the previous book, I’m still not sold on whether I should continue the series.

• Caretaking MMC

This book was an absolutely perfect addition to the series. Lauren has given us some of the most lovable couples, but these MMCs, my gosh. She just keeps making us swoon! Between the relatable FMCs and the swoon-worthy MMCs, I can't recommend this series enough.

I absolutely loved watching the relationship between Tyler and Sabrina grow. They were both so lovable in their own ways! Tyler, the adorable single dad with a heart so big, you can't help but instantly fall for him. The way he talks about his kids and never says a negative word about his ex was only the beginning of me falling for this man. He was the ultimate caretaking MMC, not just with his kids, but with everyone around him. Watching him break down the walls Sabrina had carefully built to protect herself was so sweet to witness. Their chemistry was off the charts, but it was the emotional intimacy that really hit home. Sabrina’s journey to trust and vulnerability felt so real, and Tyler was the perfect partner to show her what love looks like when it’s patient, kind, and consistent.

Even though she tried so hard not to get attached, not getting attached wasn’t an option, especially once she started falling for his kids. And this big-hearted man didn’t make it easy either, constantly showering her with affection and seeing straight through every wall she put up. Add in the fact that he was an absolute giver in the bedroom? Poor Sabrina didn’t stand a chance resisting this incredible man and his adorable kids.

This story was the perfect mix of sweet, sexy, and emotional, and honestly, I’m still smiling thinking about them. If you haven’t started this series yet, The Overtime Kiss is the perfect excuse to dive in headfirst!

Duet Narration

Lauren knows how to cast her books! Every single one of them is cast so perfectly, and this was just another wonderful example of how well she knows her audiobook lovers and these narrators’ incredible talent! It has been a minute since I’ve had the chance to listen to a book narrated by Brooke, and when I saw she was cast as the FMC, I was so excited. She was the perfect voice for Sabrina, capturing her sweet vulnerability that shined so bright in this book, and it only did more with Brooke narrating her character! These two sounded so incredible together! Teddy is a favorite, there is no doubt about that, and the talent this man has is unreal! But hearing him narrate characters like Tyler is my favorite. He brought so much warmth and patience out in Tyler’s character, I couldn’t get enough! These two absolutely nailed this audiobook, and I can't recommend it enough!

Sabrina finds out her fiancé has been cheating on her, on their wedding day. Heartbroken and needing to escape, she ends up crossing paths with Tyler, a single dad and the father of one of her ice skating students. After their unexpected run-in, Tyler needs a nanny, and Sabrina steps in to help. They already had some sparks between them, and now that she’s living with him and taking care of his kids, the chemistry only grows. Of course, things aren’t totally smooth sailing, but Sabrina fits right into his life, and his kids absolutely love her.

Brooke Bloomingdale and Teddy Hamilton are perfect as Sabrina and Tyler. Teddy nails the whole caring hockey dad vibe, and brings the heat when it counts. Brooke is just as great, playing Sabrina as sweet, strong, and a little guarded in all the right ways.

Lauren Blakely never misses with her audiobooks, and this one totally delivers!

"All the reasons to resist him burn into ash as his lips crush mine." 💙

Lauren Blakely truly outdid herself with The Overtime Kiss! As a devoted reader of her work, and with this entire series being a firm favourite, my expectations were high, and she effortlessly surpassed them. Lauren Blakely is, without a doubt, one of my absolute top authors, and her releases are always at the very top of my reading list.

This book dives straight into the story of Tyler, a charismatic ice hockey player who's also a single dad to two utterly charming children, and Sabrina, who finds herself leaving her cheating fiancé at the altar. The serendipitous way their paths cross, leading to Sabrina becoming the nanny for Tyler's kids, sets up such a deliciously angsty, yet ultimately heartwarming, dynamic. What makes their connection truly special is the underlying current of mutual attraction they've secretly harboured for ages. This 'secret crush' trope is handled with such finesse, building an exquisite tension that makes their journey towards romance all the more satisfying.

Tyler, with his dedication to his children and his prowess on the ice, quickly establishes himself as a hero you can't help but adore. His juggling act of fatherhood and professional sports is incredibly endearing, and his kids add such a delightful layer of authenticity and sweetness to the story. Sabrina, in turn, is a beacon of resilience. Watching her navigate the emotional aftermath of her broken engagement and find her footing, all while developing this incredible bond with Tyler and his children, was lovely to read. Her strength and warmth shine through every page.

Lauren Blakely has a knack for weaving together delightful banter, steamy moments, and genuine emotional depth. The Overtime Kiss is no exception, offering a perfect blend of wit and heart. The chemistry between Tyler and Sabrina is undeniable, sparking off the page, and their journey from employer-employee to something far deeper is beautifully explored. Moreover, for those of us who have followed Lauren Blakely's previous works, there's a real treat in seeing familiar faces from earlier books integrated seamlessly into this new narrative, adding a lovely sense of continuity and community.

This novel is an absolute joy to read, a testament to Lauren Blakely's skill in crafting romances that are both incredibly fun and deeply meaningful. If you're seeking a romance that combines a beloved sports hero, an inspiring heroine, adorable children, and that irresistible 'secret crush' element, then The Overtime Kiss should be your next pick. I’m already counting down the days until Lauren Blakely's next release!

The Overtime Kiss was a nice addition to the Love and Hockey Series! This single dad/nanny, hockey romance was so entertaining! I loved every moment of this audiobook! Brooke Bloomingdale and Teddy Hamilton were so good at this duet narration!

Sabrina and Tyler were an amazing couple and I enjoyed watching their relationship evolve. The attraction that was somewhat forbidden, but nonetheless so intense made the progression of their romance captivating. From spicy lessons to real feelings, the steamy moments between them were sizzling. Sabrina was also really good with his kids, Luna and Parker, and it was the cutest thing. They truly created a beautiful bond.

The whole cast made this story fantastic! I liked revisiting the couples from the previous books in the series, but also meet the new characters. The Overtime Kiss is a must read for sure!

Sabrina finds out on her wedding day that her fiance has been cheating, talk about betrayal!!! And to make it worse? Her family is absolutely horrible to her. Instead of supporting her, they threaten to cut her off financially unless she goes through with the wedding and pretends nothing happened. I was furious for her!!! She can never win with them, and it broke my heart.

Sabrina is a figure skating coach, and her path crosses with Tyler, a single, hot hockey dad whose daughter she coaches. They reconnect randomly at a hotel bar (fate!!), and though she ends up in his hotel room that night, he’s nothing but a complete gentleman!! 🥹

After the fallout from her canceled wedding and being essentially cut off, Sabrina finds herself without a home. Tylers mom steps in and offers her a job as his nanny, and a place to stay. SO much tension, these two are always together, trying to fight off very real, very intense feelings.

But that jealousy moment? When Tyler finds out Sabrina is trying to date again?? YES PLEASE. The build up was delicious and the spice hits around the halfway point, and let me just say… it is spicy. Gave me a few ideas of my own 😉🔥

The ending wrapped everything up perfectly and left me smiling so hard. This was a sweet, steamy, and satisfying read with just enough angst to hook you. I devoured it!

Once again, Lauren doesn’t disappoint. I did this one as a hybrid read and loved every second of it. Tyler gave me everything I was looking for in a single daddy 🤭. This man was so down bad for Sabrina, and I ate up every moment of it. I could relate to both characters dealing with their own daddy issues. The chemistry between these two was hot AF, and the spice had me blushing—especially with Teddy Hamilton and Brooke Bloomingdale narrating. Overall, this book was fun, cute, and just an all-around spicy good time.

This is book 5 in the series this story follows the hockey god Tyler and the ice-skater/nanny Sabrina.

Sabrina is set to get married when she learns that her groom is getting a BJ from the maid of honour, so in true badass FMC fashion she arranges for the voicemail to be played as soon as she steps foot down the aisle. Unfortunately her father shows his true colours and twists everything in favour of the groom instead of being a decent parent.

Tyler is the single dad to 2 adorable little kids Luna and Parker and when their "nanny" left, his mum is taking "Luna" to her ice-skating lesson from Sabrina when she comes up with the perfect solution for Sabrina to be the kids "nanny" as she knows both of the kids and while Tyler is harbouring a crush on Sabrina it means the kids are safe.

I really enjoyed this story and the 1001 confessions from Sabrina's almost wedding and the kids were beautifully written. I would say the only downside for me was the back and forth a bit and it was a bit drawn out for me but it was a really good story

THIS BOOK WAS SOOOOOOOO GOOD

imagine getting left at the alter by your nasty cheating fiancé who you only found out was cheating on you through a voicemail of him singing to your foster cat?? and when you confront him you’re gaslit by not only him but your equally terrible father ?!?!?

my girl sabrina was going through it like omg. but in comes tyler who literally swept her off her feet, gave her a job and a place to stay and slowly with the help of his kids began putting her heart back together.

There’s just something about the found family trope that just melts me every time

When you get a book narrated by Teddy Hamilton along with Brooke Bloomingdale, you know you are in for a treat. Combine that with Lauren Blakely's witty writing with characters that have great chemistry with some great tropes and you can't pass this one up.

The Overtime Kiss is the 5th book in the Love and Hockey series of standalones and is such a fun and sweet single dad, second chance at love romance. Tyler is full of love and just wants to give the people he cares about what they deserve. He's a listener and a doer. Meanwhile, Sabrina has been hurt by those that are supposed to love her unconditionally so she pours everything into things she loves, which isn't always appreciated. I was super excited to see where this story was going to take us.

Sabrina Snow blows up her own wedding after finding out and realizing that her fiancé is a cheating asshat. Not only that, but her father is basically just as bad as him and blames Sabrina for his faults. Being a runaway bride, she lands herself at a hotel bar with local professional hockey player, Tyler Falcon, sharing 1000 confessions with him. Little does she know that Tyler has had a secret crush on her since she walked into his life as his kid's skating coach. After a few drinks and no additional rooms in the hotel, she ends up staying with Tyler only to find him gone in the morning.

Although these two had a perfect opportunity to come together right out of the gate, I have mad respect for Tyler and the way he handled the situation. But poor Sabrina. After everything she'd been through with her fiancé and her family, I just wanted a win for her. Luckily it came in the form of amazing, supportive friends and an unlikely ally in her Lyft driver. After life giving her so many lemons, a job falls into her lap that may afford her more opportunities to get ahead, but at what expense?

Tyler is a single dad to two amazing kids and has a friendly co-parenting situation with his ex. He's a professional hockey player and needs help with the kids since his life is hectic. When his current nanny quits, his family steps up, but Tyler NEEDS a nanny and his mother has a great idea. Why not hire the woman that is good with kids AND who happens to be his kid's ice skating coach? What could go wrong in hiring a live in nanny that he's had a secret crush on? ;)

I love a single dad romance and you know exactly where the story is going to go when you combine it with a nanny. It was fun to see the way Tyler and Sabrina interacted, knowing there was an attraction there, but having to put it on the backburner for the sake of the job. But the tension? And them getting to know each other in a friendly manner? You could appreciate and feel the respect and friendship form and them get to know not only each other, but for Sabrina to develop a relationship with his kids, Luna and Parker. That's one of my favorite parts of a single parent romance. To see the love interest build trust and love with the kids. And Sabrina did it in such a natural and real way for each kid. Their relationship may have been my favorite.

But as with any good nanny/single dad romance, you gotta love how the tension is always there and how the characters fight it. Blakely gave them that chemistry but also the banter was fun, electric and just plain real. While it took them over half way through the story to give in to their attraction, but with rules, it was still fun to see how far they were going to take it and how much they could push those rules. A semi slow burn that turned into so much more.

If you like Hockey, ice skating, kids, animals, banter, humor and an overall great cast of characters, do not sleep on this book or this series. Teddy and Brooke did a phenomenal job with their performance of bringing life to Tyler and Sabrina's journey. If you're an audiobook listener, you will enjoy this duet narration that will bring you laughs, love, chemistry and time on the ice!

“I’m yours and well I’m theirs too”

I really love this hockey series so much, the found family is so special, and we get glimpses of all the past couples in the books, they’re just so much fun to read! This series is definitely the coziest of comfort reads for me, and all the Sports Romances fans need to read it!

Now onto Tyler and Sabrina, they were seriously the cutest and most wholesome (yet also so incredibly spicy) couple. The way they seamlessly fit together not only as a couple, but as a family of four with Tyler’s two kids Luna, and Parker was so heartwarming. I also loved watching Tyler build Sabrina up every chance he got, and let his walls down and be open to love with her. I know we aren’t supposed to pick favorites, but they have officially dethroned all other couples in the series for me because they were just the sweetest!

The dual POV narration, with Teddy Hamilton and Brooke Bloomingdale was absolute perfection. They completed embodied the characters, and really brought the story to life!

Tropes:

🤍Runaway bride

Duet Narration - Teddy Hamilton and Brooke Bloomingdale
This was so good. Narration on POINT! Loved their voices. Teddy never disappoints. Brooke is amazing loved her.

Book number 5 in the Love and Hockey Series

Lauren Blakely books are never a let down. I lover her writing. She gives such depth to her characters and emotion to her stories.

This story follows Sabrina and Tyler.

Sabrina is a figure skater instructor and works for her families business in the accounting department. She is engaged to marry one of her fathers upper employees. The day of their wedding some things go awry and she is a runaway bride. Running into Tyler a father of one of her students at a bar, they share drinks and food and he takes care of her for the night.

Tyler a divorced single dad hockey player who is in the need of a nanny. His mother gets Sabrina for the nanny job and Tyler is struggling keeping his feelings towards Sabrina to himself.

This was sooooo freaking good. The development of the characters, the plotting, the kids characters are hilarious, the spice chefs kiss. I highly recommend this book and series to any romance reader.

single dad x nanny x secret relationship

I jumped right into the middle of this series and now I need to go back and read the others because this book was so fun! It has a great balance of plot, spice, shoutout to precious couples and a little set up for more. It has all the things I love in a hockey romance. It’s an interconnected series but I had no problem reading this one first!

Read this if you’re in the mood for…
- hockey romance
- single dad and nanny
- forced proximity
- fostering kittens
- writing notes is his love language
- found family friend group
- 3/5 spice (IMO)

I loved that the entire book felt natural and never rushed. It was so easy to read and had so many sweet moments but also authentic relationship conversations as well. I will be adding this to my list of hockey romance recommendations!

Sabrina is the light of my life and she needs to be protected at all costs. Which Tyler does beautifully. She is so strong, so resilient, so independent and beautiful and I love her so much. Even after everything she went through with her dad, her mom, Fuck Chad, she was still smiling. Still working hard. Still trying to bring light to everyone and show them love.

Tyler is a man after my own heart and if I he was in the room, I would kiss my husband goodbye and jump into that man’s arms. I’m sure he could catch me. He’s a Renaissance Daddy, a Cat Daddy, just a straight up Daddy and man, oh man, we LOVE him. 🙂‍↕️ Everything he did for Sabrina, the way he goes out of his way for her and his kids and his family is so nrosndkdjdnkdjs!!!!!! Good, I love him.

Luna and Parker are the cutest kids ever and I just wanna squeeze their cheeks and give them all the organic gummy bears. After the presentation, they deserve them.

This book was so, so good and Lauren will never fail to blow me away. The character growth, the found family, the romance… it was all so perfect.

Thank you so much to Lauren for the ARC of this book and I can’t wait for the next one!!!!!! 🥰🫶🏻

This might just be my new favorite in the series!!!
One the tropes are like TOP TIER in this book but in just in love with Tyler, his kids Parker and Luna, and then Sabrina?! She’s amazing
It really does have everything you could want!

Plus I love that we got more of the team and the characters plus who doesn’t love a scene where he puts her ex and dad in their place?!!

It’s hard to review without spoiling it but I’m just so in love with this book!

I tried, but I am getting bored and not even the audiobook can save this for me… not sure if it is my mood or if it is the book, but this isn’t for me, and I am not going to force it.
