Finally I hit a five star read for me after a book slump. I almost want to just go ahead and start reading this book again right now. Yes, to me, it was that good. A believable story of young love gone wrong, coming back together and resurrecting that love into something stronger. I loved the characters in this book and again Ms. James had me LOL with the funny one liners these guys could come up with. The H was strong, loyal and when he did grovel he did it in a rational way that made my heart melt. I can understand the h's emotional struggles considering being abandoned at 3 years old and dumped into the system. But she rose above it and came out strong. Her one weakness, running when things got bad, did grate on me just a little. But then I realized the story would not have been as good as it was if she hadn't tried bolting a couple of times. That's when Shades dug in, wouldn't let her run and showed how much he loved and supported her. Now I want A story for Ghost and Blood. Definitely no cheating and a HEA.

This book gave me exactly what I wanted from an MC book. My only negative thought: Crash was the 'hero' of book two and had a woman. Why did this book make it seem like he had no one? Like their was a chick but they weren't together and there were issues? It left me confused. Okay one more negative- Why Letty? (Not a happy reader.) Also- I still don't like Cole from book one. I hate everything he did in this story. Okay fine- I have a few more complaints. Why did some people drop off the book pages? They serve to cause problems for a few chapters then boom! They disappear, not even living up to their full potential of trying to ruin things.
What I loved:
1. The little twists in the story
2. Skylar- she was a pretty solid heroine
3. The humor - the guys were pretty funny
4. Skylar & Shades relationship
5. No cheating
6. Ghost! I flipping loved this guy- can't wait to read book 5.
7. All of the different things that went on in this story so it was never boring
8. Good pacing
9. The cover
10. The 'past' parts of their relationship
11. Had good balance- it wasn't: over the top, over done sex, too nitty gritty ... I felt like it had all of the elements I wanted and it was done really well.

I really enjoyed the previous 2 books but I struggled with this to be honest
Skylar came across more like a 19 year old and not a 29 year old and I wasn't really keen on Shades that much
Story was predictable and what saved it, for me, was that the Author has created some BRILLIANT secondary characters in these bikers so I probably will continue with series if only because I want to read Bloods STORY ( I loved his character !! ) Great line when he said to Skylar ' You couldn't handle me even if I came with an instruction manual ' HOT DAM !!!

Its a good touch and go love story with some elements of MC woven in the storyline. However I felt the writer could have delve deeper into the lifestyle. It lacked realism, and at times felt juvenile in drama, and tame. Skylar's issues and insecurities in the relationship in my opinion were never really addressed and were swept under the rug. Lets just say, oh baby I love you and need you in my life, and how much you mean too me blaugh ....blaugh...and have killer make up sex to make it all better and your problems go away. The twists and turns that normally sucks you in, were quickly resolved, which caused me to lose interest.

The dynamite w this duo melts the soul . When people have to fight back to each other . It’s heart pumping . When you see that sometimes bad things have to happen to bring the good times back together.
In the end it shows that some times the biggest mistake we can make is not giving the moment time to calm before we react . If Skylar would have given it a day . She might not have ever left for 10 years . He went after her but she was lightening fast at leaving with a broken heart .
I’m simply furious with Cole messing with another brothers happiness. When he didn’t even ask his sister by friendship what she wanted . It’s a good thing SHADES fought like hell to get her to hear him .
Another example of the best of intentions taking 10 years away from a couple . Yet it made the union that much better & hotter . When two souls know each LONG FOR EACH OTHER : separation is torture.
This author takes time and gives wonderful dialogue and complete story line connections. She writes like she is making sure the complete pictures are formed in front of her readers .
Where some writers you can tell rush through; leaving out big chunks of dialogue that could have added to the story .
With This Author you will love ❤️ the attention to details. Sensational Writing ✍️ in my book . She is able to bring the intrigue without the brutality some authors are using in their books these days .
I truly appreciate the clean MC story line with the level of badass & sexy needed to make it a Full blown experience.

Nicole does it again

Another fantastic read from Nicole James, whom I swear, is becoming one of the best MC authors around. In this installment, the story revolves around Skylar and Shades. Long lost lover's that have met up again years later, and not because of a pleasant reunion. Again, we have a badass member of the Evil Dead MC Club helping their damsel in distress. Shades is smokin hot and Skylar is just enough strong/just enough submissive. Loved the chemistry between them. They seemed as if they really were perfectly meant for one another. The story has just enough twists and turns to make it interesting and intense. But ... what I love most about Nicole's books, along with her great main characters, are all the OTHER supporting characters!!! Omg, we meet Undertaker and Blood (can't wait for his story!) also, I fell madly in love with Ghost! Again, Nicole blows me away with all the natural banter and camaraderie amongst the brothers. There is nothing stronger than the bond that ties the Evil Dead together whether it be among their own chapter or (in this installment) two other chapters that were amazingly incorporated into this book. I just love this author and I always look forward to her next read!

Couldn't finish. Too many uses of the exact thoughts and scenes from prior book. How can a different character have the exact same thoughts as another character?????

Looking for an intense Biker book? Looking for a Biker series that is very realistic and portrays the lifestyle with complete honesty? I highly recommend The Outlaw Series featuring The Evil Dead MC by Nicole James. The Outlaw series features members from the various chapters of The Evil Dead MC. The chapters range from the west coast to the deep south. The readers get inside of each of these area chapters and gets a feel for the dynamics that hold the Evil Dead MC together. The dynamic characters are larger than life. These hardcore badass Bikers live life by their own rules. They are in a class by themselves. The women that love these men are just as strong as the club that rules their lives. They embrace their world completely.
This novel features the Birmingham, AL. chapter, the Gulfcoast chapter, and the New Orleans chapter of the Evil Dead MC.
Shades and Skylar were young lovers when Shades was a mere recruit. Their affair was a forbidden taboo by the club. Although they desperately tried to defy the odds, their secret affair was exposed. Shades had to choose between the woman he loved and the life he needed to be a part of. Their relationship ended on a very ugly note. Both Sky and Shades were torn to shreds.
Shades chose the Evil Dead MC.
Skylar chose to leave their world and moved on to Atlanta to build a new life. She has led a fruitful and successful life for the last ten years until she meets Rusty. Rusty is a member of the Devil Kings MC. They are the rival club and sworn enemies of the Evil Dead MC. Her involvement with Rusty ends in a very bad way when she finds him murdered in his own bed with her knife. The suspicious evidence clearly makes Skylar look guilty. She becomes a target for the Devil Kings MC. Her life is in danger. She flees Atlanta, with the help of her boss, and ends up back in Birmingham, Al. The very place she swore she would never return to. The place that holds every ugly memory she experienced in her young life. The place where her heart was broken beyond repair. The place where Shades lives his life in the Evil Dead MC.
Shades has always regretted how he handled the situation with Skylar. She was the only woman that ever touched his heart. When he runs into her again, he vows he will make amends no matter what. He will beg for her forgiveness. He will prove that he is a mature man that can give her the love she deserves. He is no longer a recruit. His position in the Evil Dead MC is secure.
As Skylar and Shades find their way back to one another, new situations will pop up that can tear them apart. Her trouble with their enemies and his position with the Evil Dead will affect how their relationship moves forward. Secrets will be exposed. New problems will build upon the old problems. Once again Shades will be put in the position of choosing the Evil Dead MC or Skylar. This time around he plans on holding onto both his own way. There will be nothing holding him back or getting in his way.
This book was loaded with passion, erotic romance, high octane suspense, hardcore scenes, and larger than life characters. Their story will have the reader glued to the pages. It is wonderful to watch two people grow from young lovers to mature passionate adults. Their lifestyle isn't easy, but it's theirs and they are going to live it to the fullest.
I have loved every book in this series. The Outlaw Series has the same excellent quality that the popular biker series like the Undeniable Series and Reapers MC Series have. All of the characters, including the secondary characters, are powerhouses in their own rights. I am looking forward to future books in this series. I am hoping that Blood and Ghost each get their stories told. I am looking forward to meeting the women that bring these bad boys to their knees.
Nicole James is an amazing storyteller. Don't miss out on her fantastic books.

I devoured this book. The whole series has been so good and this third novel was the best so far. The first book was Cole and Angel' s story, then we moved on to Crash and Shannon. In this book we move to another Evil Dead chapter ,away from California and across to Alabama to get Shades and Skylar's story. And what a story it is. I liked still hearing a bit about Cole and Crash but I really like the characters in this club chapter especially Ghost. Then there are the guys from New Orleans too. Blood definitely has my interest. So many more tales to tell and I see that there are books in the offing for Wolf, Ghost and Blood. (How does Ms James think up all these names??)
However, going back to the book in question... Shades is a brilliantly written hero. All alpha badass but so completely in love with Skylar. The balance is perfect. I felt for Sky with her history and her character grew on me through the book. I would have liked to see her make a female friend. After Letty no one else made that connection with her. Maybe Tink in the future? The humour and banter in this book sealed the deal for me. Great writing. I love the way the author describes their body language so effortlessly. It sets the picture in your mind brilliantly. I feel like I'm on a journey with this author and het brilliant characters. You can see her writing style changing and evolving with each book. They are all fantastic reads . For me, this is the best so far. Drama. passion, steam factor, humour, deep abiding bonds and perfect ass kicking of the baddies. The only thing I wanted to see that I didn't was for Ashley to be dealt with more. Maybe that's for another book. Highly recommended to any MC addict like me!

This one was just okay, didn't enjoy it as much as Cole and Crash's story. Maybe it's because we are in another associate club of the Evil Dead MC took a while to get to know the characters, however I did like all the secondary characters.
Didn't feel the love between Shades and styler, like the first two books, but it's certainly worth reading if you want to continue with the series.
I will be reading Wolfs and Ghosts books soon.

Good read
Good read. Skyler and Shades has an interesting story.
Shades is a great main character. He stayed steady and true throughout the story. You didn't have to learn to like him you just did. He did slip up but it wasn't something unforgivable.
Skyler was ok. She had her ups and downs. She had a great deal happen to her, but she did rise up.
Lots of hot sexy parts.
Good read. Skyler and Shades has an interesting story.

If you have to convince someone to be with you, then they don't belong to you.
In a couple of years Skylar strikes me as the type of woman who will cheat on Shades, divorce him, take his kids and ruin his life. Shades might cheat on her, but he'd never leave her because she's truly the love of his life. The love of hers, though? Not for long.
Heck of a thing when you finish a romance novel and that's your final thought.
And what's with Shades
Decent balance between club business and love business. The guys' banter is always so eye-rollingly silly, you just have to smile.
Even though I love second chances and Shades & Skylar's love story was decent enough, there was something missing for me. That extra 'it' factor, that kick in the gut. I wanted their love to feel more heartfelt and destined, but Shades having to convince Skylar to be with him didn't seem right to me. It wasn't the romantic sort of convincing like when a girl is playing hard to get but you know she's really all in, despite the guy having to 'convince' her they're meant to be together. It was more like she was genuinely having doubts about their relationship, his lifestyle & him having to basically browbeat her into staying with him. I mean, where the heck is the romance in that? This just doesn't bodes well for their future, imo.
This and other previously stated reasons is why Shades gets only 2 stars. Wholly disappointing because I was totally expecting this to be at least a 3 - 3.5 star read.

When it’s 4:30AM and I have to force myself to put the book down, it’s a sure sign that I LOVE THE BOOK!
Skylar grew up in the foster care system. Her mom dies when she was three and she never knew who her dad was. Her best friend in high school, Letty, would drag her on one adventure after another. Letty’s brother, Tyler, was a member of the Evil Dead MC and Letty and Skylar spent many summer nights partying with the boys. That’s where Skylar meet Shades.
Ten years ago, Shades was a prospect with the Evil Dead MC. He had worked long and hard to earn his patch and the summer he met Skylar, he was almost there. As the friend of two of the brothers, Skylar was off limits, especially to a lowly prospect, but Shades just couldn’t stay away. One night, he saw the error of his ways and sent Skylar packing. That was the biggest mistake of his life.
A lot takes place in the ten years since Skylar and Shades have seen each other. Skylar never meant to return to the town she found and lost the love of her life, but her life is in danger and that place might just be the safest place for her.
This book has a lot of drama, but I wouldn’t call it angst. I am not a fan of the long drawn out, angst filled stories. I am a fan of this story. Shades is sexy and in touch with himself. He is not afraid to tell it like it is and lay his feelings on the line and admit when he is wrong. Gotta love that in a man! Skylar is a strong woman, but she is afraid. Her whole life has been a series of people leaving her and she has a hard time trusting that anyone will love her enough to stay. Skylar learns a lot about herself and her life in this book. The reader meets a few new interesting characters who hopefully have their own stories yet to coming. This book is by far my favorite in the series. I see changes in the author’s writing style. She really grabbed me and didn’t let go with this story. I am looking forward to see what is coming next. I give this book 5 stars and 4 hands down the pants.

A lot takes place in the ten years since Skylar and Shades have seen each other. Skylar never meant to return to the town she found and lost the love of her life, but her life is in danger and that place might just be the safest place for her.
This book has a lot of drama, but I wouldn’t call it angst. I am not a fan of the long drawn out, angst filled stories. I am a fan of this story. Shades is sexy and in touch with himself. He is not afraid to tell it like it is and lay his feelings on the line and admit when he is wrong. Gotta love that in a man! Skylar is a strong woman, but she is afraid. Her whole life has been a series of people leaving her and she has a hard time trusting that anyone will love her enough to stay. Skylar learns a lot about herself and her life in this book. The reader meets a few new interesting characters who hopefully have their own stories yet to coming. This book is by far my favorite in the series. I see changes in the author’s writing style. She really grabbed me and didn’t let go with this story. I am looking forward to see what is coming next. I give this book 5 stars and 4 hands down the pants.

Disappointed
This story could have been awesome but I have to say I'm glad I have Kindle unlimited and didn't pay for it because I would have been pretty ticked off when I got to the cut and paste scenes. Yes, that is typed correctly.. CUT AND PASTE... Meaning this author actually did cut and paste some scenes from her previous book and put it in this one. It doesn't matter if stories overlap, people will always have different view points of the exact same scene. Therefore characters will also have different view points. Changing he to she does not change the view point, it's just laziness. As stated, this could have been a good read but I can't rate anything with CUT and PASTE more than two stars, it's just not in me.

Yes yes yes. Oh yes I loved this story. I did my usual and jumped right into the middle of a series but damn it's a great read. After reading this I'll definitely be going back and reading the other books in this series.

Shades wants Skylar back and knows he's gonna have to work hard to get her back. Life hasn't been easy for these two so they ain't gonna take you on an easy ride.
This is a fantastic story. I inhaled it. Looking forward to reading more by this author.

I really love this series! Shades was really fun to read. I really love Ghost and I can't wait for his book. To be honest, Blood kind of grew on me too even though he was a huge douche at the beginning.

Bloody love this series. Looking forward to reading Wolf's book. Shades keeps you hooked from the start, with his sexy way, dirty mouth and hot body. The way he handles Skyla is sweet, demanding and sexy.

Skylar walked away from Shades 10 years ago thinking she'd never see him again. Well surprise surprise they do. What happens when first loved get a second chance??? Enough to leave me crying, shaking, at some points screaming, and other times laughing my butt off. ENJOY

Hello love.....
Really, really and I mean really floved this installment. The storyline just flowed....angst, hot AF sex scenes, and again hot alpha biker male and a spitfire female. That is what I want in an MC read and this series has it in spades.
