Night #4

Red Rain

Rate this book
Pandora has been through hell and back. Literally. She’s been kidnapped and tortured, found freedom, and then lost it all over again. She’s now the newest pawn in the age-old war between Heaven and Hell. The Triad owns her mark, Asher owns her heart, but the demon Wrath might just own her soul.

Death—aka Dean—is her constant companion in these final days. She knows she can’t afford to trust anyone, and yet, she can’t afford not to. Armageddon breathes down her neck. Her only hope at redemption might just lie in the hands of her one-time lover now turned comatose enemy, Luc. Asher believes her a traitor to her people. Bubba and Vyxen are out for her blood. Friends are enemies and enemies might just be friends. Her only chance at walking away from this alive is figuring out who is who before it’s too late and she’s transformed into the creature of legend. The creature destined to bring about the end of all mankind, the Scarlet Woman.

Red Rain is the final and epic conclusion to the bestselling Night Series.

It's over. My favorite series is over. But let me tell you, that's the way to end a series. Red Rain was epic. EPIC.

Epic.

After the way things ended in Howler's Night, I knew Red Rain would be intense. The shit hit the fan at the end of Howler's Night, and the punches just kept coming in Red Rain. It was one giant emotional ringer. I was constantly worried and anxious and I totally cried. Ugly cried. Bad. It was awesome and devastating all at once. Definitely a book you want to put in the freezer periodically.

The action and mystery were as intense as the FEELS. I was constantly guessing, trying to figure out what would happen, what all the big plans were. Pandora's been pumped full of so many demons that she's not even recognizable as Pandora half the time and yet, there are moments where you dare to hope. Where Asher dares to hope. And then there are even more moments where you think everyone's insane for hoping, including you.

And then the twists!! OMG, I read this as a beta reader, so I was really looking for somewhere RS Black might have gone wrong, where these twists wouldn't work. But, nope - they're just insanely clever and if you saw them coming... well then you're a hell of a lot smarter than me!

And when everything went down, it was intense and nail biting. And yeah... epic. Sorry to be repetitive but... WOW!

I loved this series from start to finish, but when I met and fell in love with Pandora I had no idea the torture she would be put through! Every book has packed a punch and shocked the hell out of me and Red Rain was no exception - it took everything to the next level.

It was one hell of a ride and I'm sad it's over. But what a way to end.

Intriguing finish to the Pandora/Night series plot that opens the door for potentially great spinoff stories to come. The end was somewhat predictable yet the strong characterization that made the second book of the series so enjoyable for me was echoed in the development of this story. I want characters who are strong to their own standard, i.e. they make choices typically in keeping with how they are written based on internal doubts and interactions with their fellow cast, but who also can experience moments of clarity and growth leading to new patterns of behavior. This book also delved successfully into relationships of love and friendship that exemplify a real standard despite the genre of urban fantasy. While I read all four of the books for free given my Kindle unlimited status, this and the second books were so enjoyed that I opted to purchase them for the pleasure of reading them again down the road. I would recommend this series to fans of paranormal and urban fantasy who enjoy atypical world building and unique twists on classic stereotypes of angels & demons and the archetypal 7 deadly sins & horsemen of the apocalypse. It is a great series for readers who enjoy storylines where the paranormal subset remains mostly removed from interactions with everyday mortals and those who enjoy plots involving succubi, incubi, gypsies, circus folk, religious gray areas of good versus evil. Fair warning though, the first book (as is so often true of a series) provides important base groundwork to the overall arc of the story but is the least enjoyable.

This is just not my kind of urban fantasy.

I liked the 1st book in the series, and the 2nd was good up until the last chapter surprise cliff hanger ending.

But the 3rd book in the series was way darker and far more depressing than I'd expected from this author. After forcing myself to finish that book only to be given another depressing cliff hanger ending, I couldn't bring myself to do it again.

I don't enjoy reading about wars or epic battles, especially not with the set up from the last book.

So I read only the last chapter, just enough to get resolution for the main characters.

I won't be reading anymore of this author's Night spin off series or other Urban Fantasy, I'll stick with her more enjoyable paranormal romance.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

The most tragically beautiful ending for a wonderful series!

This book started out with the excitement that it should have! I have read a ton of great books. But this book...THIS book was by far the best book ever. The rollercoaster I was on was both brutal and beautiful! I have never cried so much in reading a book. But I was there watching it all take place, the way she worded this book let you seep into the pages and world with Pandora and her family and be there smelling the smells and feeling the joy and pain. This will be one of those books I will remember forever. When someone asks me what book they should read next this book this series will always be there on top! THAT is how wonderful it is!!! This series is one of the best series I have read to date! Do not pass the opportunity to live in Pandora's world! This series is a must-have!!!! I will be revisiting this series over and over again! I love me some Pandora aka "little demon"!

I liked this: 4 stars on Amazon

I found this to be an enjoyable read. It was a bit repetitive and angsty in places, with people seeming to have the same conversation over and over again. I also thought it was a bit jumbled and that some points could've been brought out more clearly. There were also grammatical/language errors and typos.

All this said, the book is reasonably good fun, entertaining and I liked the series.

NB: I've never heard the entrance to lady parts called a 'goody hole' before. That made me laugh.

This has been a thrilling series. This 4th and final book in this sreies is by far, the best. My emotions were all over the place. I cried tears of loss, love, remorse and finally redemption. Red Rain: Book 4, Night Series

The love story of Pandora and Asher. The Triad has turn Pandora in to a soulless demo, she is become The Scarlet Woman. Dean, death, is playing a game with everyone. Asher is fighting to save Pandora. Can he or will the world lose? Great story.

Spoiler alert

God I loved these books. Made me laugh out loud, cringe in revulsion, and ugly cry at the end. That emotional roller coaster kicked my butt ... but it was worth the ride ;)

3 = a good read.

This was a harder book to finish, because of all the suffering the characters were put through. But it was worth it for the happy ending. You will weep at some of the losses during this hideous war.

Une fin en apothéose....Pandora m’a parfois énervée mais au final une belle héroïne .J’avoue que j’ai pleuré de tristesse mais presque aussi de joie... je vais chercher les autres livres de cette auteure qui sont maintenant sous Selene Charles.

Literally being used as a chess piece by the 4-Horsemen's Death and the Triad, Pandora is in a dark, dark place. Fighting herself, her "captors" and her "family", Pandora just doesn't know who to trust. Can Luc regain the strength she needs him to help her save herself and those she loves? Will her love for Asher hinder her and will his love for her finally fail? Will she give in to the darkness threatening to drown her? A roller coaster of emotions, of action, and the ultimate fight for Light and Dark!

It's a rare find for me, a book (series) that will keep me guessing until the absolute end. This entire series was so wonderfully full of twists and turns, cliffhangers and mystery while still maintaining the humor, sensualness and character development I've come to expect. Now that I've finished the books, my only regret is that there aren't more or that I didn't take my time (as if that was actually possible, haha).

I was holding my breath for quite some time for this book - the last one in the series before that (Howler's Night) had a cliffhanger and my expectations were especially high. RS Black managed to surpass them all. The book is dark and breathtaking, it is cruel and funny, romantic and exciting, it has everything a good story needs and best of all: it doesn't compromise. It is clear from the start where this is heading and it doesn't stray from the dramatic and powerful path. Keep your handkerchiefs ready! Pandora is hope, she is a woman who knows what has to be done and is not afraid to do it, her strength is amazing, as is her love - and her Asher is just awesome, sugar pure and at the same time deadly and strong. But my favorite is Dean. His slow transformation throughout the series is so very well crafted, I couldn't help but fall for him. So grab your copy and delve into the dark pleasure this book brings from start right up to the very very end!

If you haven't yet: Start with Crimson Night and then All Hallows Night, before enjoying the last two of Pandora's series. It would rob you of a lot of enjoyment to not read them in order. And they are worth every penny and every tear!

Excellent ending to the series

Armageddon. The end of days. That's what the Triad is after. To make it happen they've turned Pandora into a weapon. She and she alone can either open the Gates of Hell or save them all. What happens might surprise you, but I'm giving no spoilers; you have to read the book to find out!

A gripping conclusion to the Night Series

Holy moly I devoured these 4 books in 2 days. I was completely hooked by the storyline and characters leading up to this completely riveting conclusion.

The authors take on the nephilim and the seven deadly sins was captivating. Each book of this series has been such an incredible journey and hard to put down. Pandora is such a great character I was invested from the start. Bonus that I fell in love with so many of the other characters as well. Ash, Luc, Dean (more Dean please) and even Bubba are all so... hmm... alluring.

This series has a great plot, a very likable heroine, many great characters and potential for fantastic spin-off's to come.

There are some editing issues but nothing that prevents me from being highly entertained.

Overall I give it 4 stars and I'm off to go read Forbidden (spin-off under pen name Selene Charles) to find out more about these berserkers. :)

This book was the wrap up of a series I really loved so my standards were high. Unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype. There was just too much abstract/ metaphysical stuff happening and not enough of the world I fell in love with. All the characters were brought back and the Triad threads were wrapped up but that's about all I can say was accomplished in this book. Fortunately it looks like this world will have many spin offs and hopefully I can get my Fix of this world in other story lines that hopefully share more in common with the first two books in this series. They were written with a set problem and story line with though out solutions to get to the conclusion. Unlike this last book which consisted of grabbing random ideas and items from random people we never met until we need what they had. All done to follow the random "design" no one understands until the dust settles and even then seems shaky at best.

Pandora is one of the nephilim, a human/demon hybrid. She finds sanctuary and redemption as part of a roving carnival, attracting the darkest human souls to feed their demon appetites. This system has worked for thousands of years until Pandora runs into a Priest--the nephilim's most dangerous and persistent enemy.

The Night series takes Pandora on a journey of discovery as she and the Priest discover that their destinies are interwoven. Both are unwitting pawns in a grand chess match played by full blood demons seeking to destroy the world.

The series did allow Pandora to morph as a character. She transforms multiple times to accommodate greater responsibilities yet stays true to herself. There is a lot of doom & gloom, which may turn off some readers.

So many secrets are revealed in the last book in this series and sometimes Pandora seems to no longer be herself yet you find yourself hoping she will survive and live to fight another day. Her Carnival family rally around her and it is great to see them defend each other as a real family would despite their differences in the past. While I thought the end of the book was a little weak I did enjoy all the loose threads being tied up and most situations were resolved to my satisfaction. Death even seems to have had a change of heart and I will definitely purchase any of this author's books in the future.

This was simply brilliant! I was so worried about this being brought to an awful end for my favorite heroine of all time Pandora... I loved it Pandora you have literally been through hell... This book was everything and more it was hard to know while I was reading it that it would be the last of the night series... I'm just in awe of the way the author ended it, that was simply BRILLIANT.. Thank you to the author for giving me a wonderful escape and yet another great adventure Red Rain... Red Rain was fantastic rollercoaster for me thank you...

Seriously what a crazy twisty turny end to the series. I stumbled over further books from this series before reading this so I knew there would be a good if not great resolution but I really didn't forsee it being this dramatic and really quite the theatrical Carry On but then i suppose thats what Dean does best isn't it? Over dramatic and over convoluted which is fantastic because far too often you can see the end and then of course you lose the suspense.
Would definately give this series a try

I read all 4 books. I liked books one and two. Not literary masterpieces but entertaining and interesting. Then we get to book 4. It was just depressing. Yes, there was a HEA but it just got way to0 dark for my interests. I've certainly read some really dark books but there is usually more romance or humor to balance it out and this one just felt hopeless. Anyway, I'm not upset I read it. It was fine just not a favorite.

O. M. G. I mean seriously. There were times I was cursing the author while reading this, and other times, I was shaking my head, wondering how could she do this to my Pandora!

This was a spectacular ending to the four book Night Series, and so incredibly climactic. Just unbelievable. The ending was not what I expected, but it was OH SO RIGHT!
