Olivia’s once-shining light now blazes with the fury of an avenging angel, leaving ruin in her wake. Gone are the days of soft hearts; endless compassion doesn't win wars with Hell.

Without an anchor to his human self, the jinni side of Holden grows stronger every day. Giving into his true nature might mean losing the one thing worth living for, but it's the only way to stop the rise of a darkness even the angel cannot defeat.

Every decision they make to re-establish balance in their world causes ripples through the universe, changing paths and intentions of even the most stalwart of friends. All it took was a single death to make waves through the Abyss. Now the lives of five people have been changed forever. No one will make it through unscathed.

About the author

Many authors claim to have known their calling from a young age. Liz Schulte, however, didn't always want to be an author. In fact, she had no clue. Liz wanted to be a veterinarian, then she wanted to be a lawyer, then she wanted to be a criminal profiler. In a valiant effort to keep from becoming Walter Mitty, Liz put pen to paper and began writing her first novel. It was at that moment she realized this is what she was meant to do. As a scribe she could be all of those things and so much more.

When Liz isn't writing or on social networks she is inflicting movie quotes and trivia on people, reading, traveling, and hanging out with friends and family. Liz is a Midwest girl through and through, though she would be perfectly happy never having to shovel her driveway again. She has a love for all things spooky, supernatural, and snarky. Her favorite authors range from Edgar Allen Poe to Joseph Heller to Jane Austen to Jim Butcher and everything in between.

It was interesting to pick up on this series so long after reading book 1. It took a bit to remember book 1 but I did remember parts of it. I am curious as to what happens to the little girl after this. Her purpose is still there so she still needs protection. Plus there has to be some kind of fallout because the council is not gonna be happy. I am very curious where it all goes from here. Overall, an interesting adventure with all kinds of paranormal creatures.

now i am hooked. This was such a great, easy and creative book. i was hooked after the first page.

The characters were easy to fall in love with and follow, along with the story. the author made the mental visions so easy and vivid of the surroundings and the characters actions felt so real.

i would highly recommend this author and this book.

I received a free copy in exchange for my honest review.

Inferno is book two of The Jinn series. This portion begins six months after book one end. Olivia has withdrawn into herself since the death of her mother. The angel within her takes advantage of her grief and takes complete control of her life. To Holden's dismay, if there's any sign of the woman he loves, she's well hidden. The angel has an agenda all her own and isn't telling anyone what it is. Will they find out before it's too late? Is it really in the interest of the greater good?

Holden is trying everything he can to see if Olivia is still in there. He can't lose hope, she's the only bright spot in his very long life.

Baker will do anything for his best friend Holden. He's ended the relationship he had with Maggie, hoping that she would move on and have a normal life. Unfortunately, you can't always get what you want. But he can't focus on that right now, he has to help the others find out what the angel is up to and quickly before other angels come down to take her out before she does real damage to "the balance between good and evil".

As the group becomes a united front, they uncover the Angel's plot. With the help of Quintus, a gypsy, and a couple of vamps, they begin a complicated task of trying to stop the Angel and get Olivia back. But what will they have to sacrifice this time to achieve their goal?

This novel was well worth the wait! I'm just saying that because I love just about everything this author has written, but because the story immediately draws you in and keeps you engrossed. Be sure to have your schedule clear to read it because you will not want to put it down. I love the way the story captures your imagination with the descriptions of the characters and locations. This book covers many genres, it has romance, fantasy, paranormal, and even some rather emotional aspects. Be sure to have some Kleenex ready, there were parts that just broke my heart. What can I say Liz, you've done it again, an absolutely amazing novel and definitely a must read!

One can be a good storyteller without being a grammarian. Apart from involving words, the two are actually quite different. I'd call grammar a skill (something that can be learned) and storytelling more of a craft or ability. The tricks of the trade can be taught, but the imagination and the ability to carry readers along into an imaginary world . . . those defy simple rules. What, exactly, made Twilight and Fifty Shades of Grey so popular? It was probably not the writing, and yet millions of readers found those stories compelling.

Anyway, I've enjoyed Schulte's Abyss world and the stories she's told involving jinni, elves, angels, witches, and other characters. Even though she credits an editor in her front pages, she leaves out "had" when she shouldn't and includes it when she shouldn't. "He should have went..." No! "Should have gone!" These sorts of mistakes are irritating and take me out of the story as I'm suddenly noticing the writing in a very distracting way.

All that aside, this book didn't draw me in as much as some of the Abyss World novels. With Tiddly Jinx I barely recognized the characters. It had been a while since I'd read the earlier books in the series and I had trouble connecting with Selene and Cheney. Both seemed . . . flat and lacking personality. Olivia, Holden, Baker, and Femi don't suffer the same problem, but the plot of Inferno felt very thin, the climax and denouement rushed, and the reunion of Holden and Olivia empty. I felt like I was reading an early draft of a story that needed to be filled in and fleshed out to come to life.

There are not enough stars because 5 is not enough. I love this book! Liz is such a talented writer. Her characters are amazing. I was left on the edge of my seat and the ending with my mouth opened. I need the next book Vestigo like NOW. I need to know what next!!!!!!!!!!!! Holden like always has stolen my heart and is just so YUMMY! Baker has gone up a notch for me. At first I wanted Femi to give Sy a chance but after this book not anymore. Femi is such a bad ASS! Love her. If you have not read her books before you need to and start with the Guardian Trilogy, you will not regret it!

I have been a Liz Schulte fan. since I read one of her books, I love this series and this is her second book in it. (first book Ember check it out!) Olivia is living in her own world after the dead of her mother, Holden tries with all he can to get her out of it, he wonders if the "old" Olivia is still in there. With all friends they try hard to stop the Angel's and get Olivia back as she as.
It is like always a great read, I love her books and this is one isn't less, great characters and there is so much to it, I could not keep my eyes dry, had smiles on my face and even sat in the end my chair!! go get it, it is so worth it!!!

The second book definitely dives right in. Olivia has allowed the angel to take over so she can mourn. Very sad. And the angel is loving it because she is killing demons all over the place. But why? What secrets does she hold. Holden just wants Olivia back...the love of his life. But the angel isn't having any of that. This book is full of action..surprises as well as some additional characters.... A child even. lucifer has some plans and slowly this book reveals those plans... What will the Holden do to control the Angel. Love this series. Still gonna go back and read the previous series to understand the love between Holden and Olivia.
