A platoon is being dropped in Vietnam, encountering pure evil next to the already present horrors of the war. Sergeant Eli Masterson remembers the monstrosities that happened to him and his brothers all too well when he tells a reporter about it.
This book is easily one of my favorites this year. What an engaging and immersive story! Think Tour of Duty meets Overlord.
The author captured the brothers’ bond and camaraderie perfectly which makes you feel like being part of the platoon. The story starts calmly, every character gets well introduced, but it grabs you immediately. When you start to realize things are off and the real horror starts to unfold, dread is creeping in and there’s no way back. Emotions are flying high and low and you can’t stop reading anymore. I found myself sobbing when a brother didn’t make it and omg that ending.. Brilliant! Afterwards I had to collect myself for a few minutes because of the impact it made and not a dry eye was had here. This one will stay with me for a long time.
After reading Stuck to a monster in January this year and now Nightmare Jungle, Ross Killey will be an Auto-Buy author for me. I love his work, I want to read everything he comes up with and I will recommend his books to everyone who loves phenomenal storytelling. 👌🏼🖤
This book is intense. It feels like I was dropped into the jungle and from page one I had to fight for my life right along with the platoon! The characters are great and you feel each loss! I am a sucker for a Vietnam story and a zombie story so this was pretty much right up my alley.
