Sebastian Wilde has spent years punishing himself in silence, on the ice and off it. As a defenseman for the Annihilators, pain is something he knows how to take. But guilt? That’s a wound he’s never let heal. And when the team’s new trauma counselor starts getting too close, he’s forced to face the one thing he’s never been able to outrun... his past.
I ruined everything once. A marriage. A family. A woman I should’ve walked away from.
That was a lifetime ago. But guilt doesn’t fade. And forgiveness isn’t free.
I don’t get close. Not to teammates. Not to reporters. Definitely not to therapists who wear wedding rings and look like everything I’ll never deserve.
Olivia Hart is calm. Collected. Too good at reading people— especially me.
She says she’s here to help. But I just want her gone… before she uncovers the truth I’ve spent years hiding.
Only now I can’t stop thinking about her. Wanting her. And when my past finally catches up with me, I’ll have to face what I’ve always feared—
That some sins stain too deep to ever be washed clean.
Amazon bestselling author C.M. Seabrook writes hot, steamy romances with possessive bad boys, and the passionate, fiery women who love them. Swoonworthy romances from the heart!
A Love Worth Fighting For - Sebastian had socially withdrawn from life and concentrated solely on his career for years, so he wasn’t pleased when the teams newly hired trauma counsellor tried to get him to open up. Olivia knew getting the players to open up would be difficult, but dealing with Sebastian was on another level, as he wasn’t prepared to revisit his past painful experience. However, Olivia’s patience and determination to help him made him slowly let down his guard, but spending time together led to their attraction for each other leading them to cross the boundaries.
However, when Olivia tried to mitigate the risks of a conflict of interests, she was unable to do so, as Sebastian had already taken responsibility. Even though Olivia was upset about Sebastian’s actions, she realised that it gave them a chance to finally explore a relationship. Unfortunately, Sebastian and Olivia’s happiness was short lived as an incident from his past was revealed at an inopportune moment, which sent him into a spiral.
Luckily, Olivia got to Sebastian before he could totally destroy himself and gave him the help and support he needed to start the healing process, so they could get back on track towards their happy life together. This forbidden sports romance story was a really great read. I was impressed by how the author got the right balance between the sports, romance and sensual elements, but more importantly the way the mental health issue was dealt with. This book is a definite must read.

Sebastian is still beating himself up over past decisions when Olivia, the teams new trauma counselor walks into his rink. Immediately, he finds himself protective of her. He vows to do the minimum required by the team when it comes to her. Keeping his distance and his teams locked up is how he’s lived for so long. Theres something about her. He finds himself having feelings he hasn’t had for anyone in a really long time.Olivia is trying to move on with her life after losing her husband. This new job with the team is the fresh start she needs. She finds herself drawn to the gruff, bod boy hockey player. They quickly cross the patient/ counselor line. When Sebastian thinks their romance will threaten Olivia’s job, he’s willing to sacrifice it all for her. His job and his secrets. Loved this book. It was engaging from beginning to end. You felt so much for them both.
This was a good read. The writing flowed well, and I liked Sebastian and Olivia together for the most part. I thought Olivia was a good match for Sebastian, but I did roll my eyes a little at her when she got mad at Sebastian for coming clean. He was trying to do the right thing, but she acted like he undermined her. I just didn't get that part. Sebastian was a whole lot of issues wrapped up in one man. He was so closed down from the start, his past was something that he couldn't get over. He did get better at the end of the story, but it was a struggle for him to get there. The only drawback for me was I felt like they went from glances across the room, to ready to throw their careers away in just a few chapters. I would have liked to have more interactions between them before it got to that point. The ending was very sweet, and even though I like a longer look into their future, I'm hoping to see them again in the next book in this series. I'm so happy to see this author back! Sebastian and Olivia are both dealing are both dealing with traumatic issues to their relationships. Olivia is still coming to terms with the death of husband, Ethan, and trying to accept the new unexpected path her life has taken. Sebastian, however, is still living with the emotional struggles of a relationship that went badly 10 years ago and guilt still eats at him.
Olivia has taken a job as the team therapist since the Coach feels his players need a little emotional assistance. The connection between Sebastian and Olivia is both instant and forbidden as they both work for the team.
This book started off slow for my tastes, but it did pick up, and I liked the bond between Sebastian and Olivia. The book also got very interesting when Sebastian’s rocky past became very much part of his present.
It has been a while since I read this series (last book came out in 2020) so I may do a reread of the others to get reacquainted with all the characters again.
Olivia works as a counsellor for the Annihilators hockey team, she's finding that there's a lot of angst around but the men aren't willing to talk and appear less masculine, as though mental health isn't important. She's still coming to terms with her grief, losing her husband to a horrible disease. Sebastian is wearing the guilt of a past event, even though rationally he wasn't to blame, although he thinks he is. It's tearing him up inside. Then he sees Olivia and he can feel his walls breaking down, there's an electrical reaction to her, but he's not worthy and she could lose her job. Olivia's feelings for Sebastian are complicated, she feels guilty that she's feeling something when she's still grieving, and he can see her and recognises her pain.

Second Sin is the fourth book in the Men With Wood series. It is a remarkable love story. There is nothing neat and clean about the happily ever after that Olivia and Sebastian get, but neither is life. The intense drama that is played out through all the messiness. We get an insider's view of the business of hockey and what celebrity athletes endure. There is also a mental health wellness theme that not only works well in the storyline but also delivers the message that taking care of your mental health is a normal good thing to do.
This is probably the most real love story I have ever read. It is definitely a page-turner.

Second Sin is the fourth book in the MEN WITH WOOD SERIES. It has been a bit since I have read a new book by this author and I sure did miss them. I am doubly happy as this book adds to a wonderful series that started more than a few years ago but still holds up today. I fell in love with this story about Olivia Hart and Sebastian Wilde. It takes you on an emotional ride that is not straight forward to at times easy, but it is so worth the tissue count. As always the story is well written, the characters are nicely defined and are exposed piece by piece. Plus the chemistry simmers until it boils all over into a delicious mess that you just want to lick off your fingers.
The opportunity to be the therapist for the Annihilators is the new beginning that Olivia needs after the devastating loss she has endured. When she meets Sebastian she can feel his pain and she wants to help him heal even though he tries to fight it every step of the way.
Sebastian has a devastating past of his own that time hasn’t healed and continues to affect him in the present. He is conflicted over his feelings for Olivia as he knows that acting on them could destroy both their careers.
Although their pasts are very different they are both very difficult. Neither is prepared for the feelings between them and the challenges it raises but they also know that what they share is worth fighting for.
Olivia is a trauma counselor hired to help the members of the Annihilators. Just one look at Sebastian, and all she thinks and feels centers on this man. He’s difficult to assist, but she can see the pain and regret he bears. Sebastian is an Annihilators player. He carries a heavy burden that makes him a complex man. What happened to him when he was younger has left a deep mark, something he regrets, but nobody can change the past — only learn from the experience. This is a wonderful book where feelings are raw and run deep. I am glad to see that the author still has her way with words after a long break from writing. Welcome back! I loved reading this book. Both Olivia and Sebastian are struggling with relationships from their past. Olivia the death of her husband three years ago and Sebastian a destructive relationship that ended so badly. When Olivia starts working for the Annihilators as the new therapist she never expected to be attracted to one of the players but she knows that she needs to stay away from him. Sebastian keeps everyone at a distance but he can't stay away from Olivia. They are perfect together but when his past catches up with him in the worst way can they make it through together. A must read.

Sports romance 5 stars. - I’ve read this author’s books before and I liked it. Second Sin is no different. I like it too. Olivia was very brave in risking her career, reputation and her heart for Sebastian. Sebastian feels very broken and it was taking him a long time to forgive himself. They are perfect for each other. Their chemistry is evident and their scenes are steamy. The flow of the story is good - it wasn’t dragging. Good romance from this author! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily chose to review it.
4* Olivia has been hired as the therapist for the team. She's still learning to accept how things are different without her husband Ethan. Coach is hoping that this will help his players as not all of them open up. Sebastian feels he deserves everything that happened to him and isn't prepared to open up. However he can't help putting his foot in it with Olivia add the chemistry between them and things are likely to explode. When his past catches up with him it's time to face it.
Sebastian Wilde and Olivia Hart suffered tragedy in their past relationships. They buried the pain and concentrated on their respective careers. Their paths crossed when Olivia became the counselor for the hockey team Sebastian plays for. They have a chemistry that tested the professional boundaries in place. Can they get their HEA without causing career suicide?.

Sebastian and Olivia have been through a lot in the heartbreakingly beautiful sports romance. Finding each other was the best thing that could have happened for them both. I loved the character development and their intense chemistry. This is a well written, steamy, sports romance with great characters, a page turning storyline, and a great ending. Second Sin is book three and a great addition to the Men With Wood series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Olivia is still trying to deal with her husband's death 3 years ago and Sebastian hasn't dealt with what happened in his life 10 years ago. When they two meet, the attraction is instant but they have to fight it as she is the therapist for the team. This story is full of emotions as these two work toward healing and seeing if there is a way to explore their attraction.

Second Sin is the fourth book in C.M. Seabrook's Men With Wood series. I loved reading following Olivia and Sebastian's hockey/ sports romance. Both have past's that have caused them pain that affects them both differently and gives this book it's very emotional ride. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
Not going to rate because I DNF I had to check before I said anything if I have read this author before and I have, but I just found this book boring 🫣 and the writing annoying… I really Donny recall her other books being like this unless my tastes have changed 🤷🏼♀️
This is an engaging and entertaining romance with drama, attraction, past issues, chemistry, secrets, and wonderful secondary and main characters. I enjoyed this storyline.
