Chambermaid Fanny is thanking her lucky stars she has had a second chance at life. As an unmarried mother, it could have been very different, and she is happy. But when new maid, Susie, arrives at the Beach Hotel, it isn't long before sparks fly. Susie begins to meddle in Fanny's friendships and even in her budding romance with Walter, an American working at the aerodrome.
Meanwhile, a flu epidemic starts to spread and as more people fall ill, the hotel is forced to close. Matters come to a head when Susie plots to reveal secrets about Fanny that could spell her ruin. Can the hotel and the hardworking women who run it survive?
Several years ago, Francesca Capaldi pursued a childhood dream and joined a creative writing class. Lots of published short stories, a serial, and three pocket novels later, she’s now explored her mother’s ancestral history for a novel set in a Welsh colliery village.
A history graduate and former teacher, she hails from the Sussex coast but now lives in Kent with her family and a cat called Lando Calrissian.
I started this series as I had completed the Heartbreak in the valleys series and loved them being from South Wales i recognised the places. I have also really enjoyed The Beach Hotel series and I love the way that Fanny's story progressed I. Book 5 and her love interest is one of my favourites too. I have listened to the audio and read back and fro and I can't get through the books quick enough. The characters are so interesting and it's lovely that they develop alongside historical events. I am lucky that the next book is available Celebrations at The Beach Hotel and I am looking forward to reading it next. I hope there's more books and series to come.
