(Source: I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis. Thanks to Eliza Boyd, Patchwork Press and NetGalley.)

“Oh, that’s right. The diet.” He says with a pleased tenor in his voice. “Ten more pounds and then I’ll get to say I got to fuck you when you were skinny.”

I had issues with this book.

I did feel a little bit sorry for Chelsea in this book, having an ass for a husband isn’t nice, but at the same time, boy did she whine! All I heard was ‘poor me’, ‘I don’t love my husband’, ‘I don’t want to have sex with my husband’, ‘I don’t even like my husband’, ‘I don’t want to be married to my husband any more’ – then do something about it!! Either work on your marriage, try to fall in love with him again, or tell him you want a divorce, or leave! Yes they were married and lived together, but they had no kids, and she had her own job, if she was that unhappy then she should darn well do something about it!

“He sidles up behind me while I’m flipping a pancake in the pan and snakes his arms around my waist. The pancake somehow makes it out of the ordeal in one piece, but I don’t miss the firmness pressing against my backside.
I thought I’d escaped that activity already today.”

Okay, first rant over. On to the second. So, Chelsea doesn’t like her husband, she goes out for the night with a work colleague, and meets another man who she is attracted to. He talks to her about her awful marriage, and tells her to spend the night with him! No funny business, just talking (because obviously her husband will assume that she’s been out all night with another man just talking). How is this a good idea? How is this other man getting involved in their marriage going to help anything? Why does he even want to insert himself into their mess of a marriage?

“Spend the night with me.”

Anyway, while there was no out-and-out cheating in this book, spending the night in a motel room with another man does not sound like the sort of behaviour a girl should be getting involved in when she is married, whether it’s a happy marriage or not.

“I feel different around you. Accepted or something. Not belittled or judged.”

So, things did get sorted out, and we did get a rosy ending, but unfortunately the above things just left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth.

BRETT

CHELSEA

I really don't know how to approach this review. I can't say i enjoyed reading this book, but it wasn't terrible. I just couldn't connect with the characters, and not only with the main characters but with all the characters. They all seemed so... incomplete.

"One chance night" is about a 24 year old girl, Chelsea, who's been married to her high school sweetheart Wesley for the past 4 years. Chelsea's and Wesley's marriage isn't a good one; Wesley is a verbally abusive man but Chelsea feels that she has no choice but to stay in this marriage even though in reality not only she doesn't love her husband anymore but she doesn't even like him!

She's completely alone because her parents moved far away from her and she doesn't have any friends so she feels that leaving her husband is not an option. One day a colleague from work, Stevie, invites her to go out with her and her roommate Mayra to an open-mic night concert in the city because they both share the same enthusiasm for country music.

And that's where she meets Brett... But wait, she doesn't only just meets him, she gets to confide all her problems to him in a matter of hours... I know this kind of thing is possible but i didn't buy it in this case... the connection wasn't there for me.

The author made it clear that she's against insta-love:

"...And it's not like I've fallen in instalove like i've read about in books. There's just something profound about looking at a - his incredibly good looks notwithstanding - stranger and feeling safe and assured."

BUT

this book was all about insta-something:

1)insta-i-don't-even-know-how-to-describe-it with Brett - i don't get it, i really don't...

2)insta-frienship with Stevie and Mayra after going out with them once! They sit at the table and BOOM! - they're best friends.

3)insta-realization about something, for example

I don't know, i guess this is one of those books where i felt that the author was trying too hard... It was like she had in mind all the things that people hate in NA books(insta-love, cheating, misunderstandings) and she tried to write a book without them in it... I just wasn't feeling this one i guess.

*I had the privilege to beta this book.*

"No one’s life ends up exactly the way they thought it would. But I feel like mine should at least attempt to resemble something similar to my thoughts. To my hopes and dreams."

Such a great story! For it being Eliza's first book, it made me feel as if she'd been writing for years!

This book grabbed my attention from the start! The character of Chelsea can be relatable to so many women. Falling in love at a young age, getting married, and then realizing that maybe the boy you were so head over heels for isn't who you thought he was.

One Chance Night isn't a story of love--it's a story of discovery.
Chelsea has spent too many years living for someone else. It's her time to finally shine.

"What I need is a plan. Preferably one that doesn’t include another diet or a loveless marriage."

With her happiness seemingly so far out of reach, Chelsea takes her co-worker's invite to get out of the house one night. Little did she know that Stevie and her friend, Mayra, were about to change her outlook about everything without even knowing. This was going to be a night to remember--a night of freedom.

I honestly can say that I was holding my breathe the entire time Chelsea was in that bar. I wanted to know what was going to happen! It's like I couldn't turn the pages quick enough!!!

All it took was the mention of a man with a guitar and I knew this story would get me hook, line and sinker! Did I mention he played country music? Yeah buddy.

Brett. He was swoonworthy from the start, but he was also much more. You could tell he was about to change the course of this story in many ways. It's like he "got" Chelsea even before he really talked to her. With just his words, compassion, and a guitar, he made her feel things she had never felt in her marriage.

"Brett’s smile simultaneously threatens to put me at ease and blast my nervousness into overdrive. My heart and brain just can’t decide which way to go."

Please do not think this story has anything to do with cheating. It has nothing of the sort! It's about realizing when enough is enough, and there are better things out in the world beyond the work and home you seem confined to.

"With the way I’ve been treated for the past four years, I have come to assume that I’m not worth being treated like I mean anything. I’ve so wholly lost my self-importance, my significance. And I haven’t known Brett for longer than two hours, but he’s already pointing me in the direction of my value. He’s reminded me in the space of kindness that I’m deserving of love."

One night. That's all it takes sometimes. One night. One step forward. One change of mind. One chance encounter.

"This night is ending up a lot differently than I imagined it would—and it’s certainly turning out to be worth whatever happens next."

I loved every character (well, except for Wesley. He can go away! Hehe). The friendships are amazing and the bonds made will stay forever.

Eliza Boyd tells an empowering story about what it truly means to take control of your life and that some chances are worth taking.
This book is not to be missed!

Amazing job, Eliza:) Can't wait for the next in the series!!

"No matter what the results are, at least I’ll know that I tried. I mean, when the universe gives you that many signs to go after what you want, you should probably listen."

One Chance Night was filled with intense emotion and had me swooning, swearing, wishing I could reach through the pages of the book and strangle a certain character and become best friends with others.

The novel had the right combination of romance mixed with difficult, life changing decisions. The reader followed Chelsea, who wasn’t perfect, had made her share of mistakes, and was in an awful situation, but I couldn’t help but feel for her. She was a creature of routine, and it took taking a chance and breaking that routine for her to get a much needed wakeup call, pushing her to change her life for the better.

I couldn’t help but immediately start the next chapter to find out what would happen next and what Chelsea would do. The words flowed and my eyes floated across them until the final page, which left me with a perfect ending to the story, not making me suffer through one of those awful cliff hangers, but I still wanted more of the beautiful characters who made me feel so much. If you read this book, which you should, then we are all in luck because it is a series, while the main characters won’t be central, they will make appearances so we can get our fix.

Eliza Boyd did an incredible job painting the pictures, introducing the characters and making them feel real, and created a poignant story that I think many people can relate to in one way or another, whether they survived a bad relationship or have fallen in love. This debut novel will make you stop and take notice of this new author and I know she will have much more to share with us.

Take a chance on One chance Night, you won’t regret it! I certainly can’t wait to read what she writes next!

This ebook helped me find my way back to loving country songs again... it made me play all the songs mentioned in here while reading the book and it is seriously beautiful.

Thank you Patchwork Press for giving me a chance to read this awesome ebook! My review will be up on the 16th of June

--- REVIEW posted on Home of a Book Lover ----

This is my first time to read Eliza Boyd's book and I don't actually know how will I express my thoughts about this. Believe me when I say that it is beautiful and the kind of book that you'll fall in love with right away. What makes me fall in love even more are the country songs mentioned in the book, what I did was look for everything in YouTube and listen to every songs while reading and it was seriously perfect. Just like that, everything is perfect.

The story was written in a simple way there was not much of twists, it was like when you decided to be on a rooftop of a tall building and you look around you'll see everything there might be some things that are not good but the rest was amazing. This book is about a woman who have been into an early marriage but turned out that the marriage is complicated than it was when they were still dating. One country night in a bar changed her life. It was a big step and a big risk to take but the way her life changed it was worth it, but no matter how different things are as years passed there is one thing that doesn't change and it was her feelings towards the man who helped her realize things about her own life.

I could say I'm fan of this book now. It was funny when the time I was reading this, sometimes I'm at work during breaks I will read a few pages and I can't stop smiling. My heart stops in every lovely scenes. No words can describe how much I love this book to be honest. AAAANDDD the songs that was chosen to be included in this book is sooooo awesome! It's like the songs can tell what the book or a particular scene was really meant. Can this be a movie please?

I am not sure what to say anymore. I suddenly get hyper when I think of this book *fangirl mode on*

To other readers, hope you find this book really pretty the way I saw it while I read.

One Chance Night (Make A Change #1) by Eliza Boyd
Eliza Boyd

First off I wanna say that I didn't know where this book was going at all. Every time I thought I knew what was about to happen I was surprised with a different turn out and i mean that in a good way. It really touched an issue that you don't read about often. Falling out of love and falling into just a routine and feeling like there is no way out. I thought this was so well written and such a different kind of read but amazing nonetheless. I loved it all the way through. I also loved how the main character is not quick to find Brett after she makes her decision about her marriage. I thought that was a very well thought out decision because you wanted there to be some character development. In order for us to be able to love others we gotta first learn to love ourselves and that was what I felt one of the meanings to this book. Every little step was well thought out and such an important part of this book and the characters journey. I loved this book and I want to thank you so much to giving me the opportunity to have read it. I hope to see the next book and can't wait to read it! thank you for a wonderful story.

I absolutely loved this book. This is a story of a girl who works on reclaiming her life. It had me going all head over heals for Brett, and wanting to smack the crap out of a character and loving others i just wanna hug them.

This story was touching and based on a real life dilemma that more women go through daily than we know about. Chelsea is in a love less marriage and has been for a while. Although not physically abused she is emotionally and verbally and always fears that one day it could turn physical. One night going out with some work colleges changes a lot for Chelsea and see things in her life with a different view.

I could not put this book down from the beginning I started last night before bed and was up late reading until i couldn't fight sleep no more and just had to pick it right back up this morning and had it finished all together in 4 hours total. I had to know all that was going on with her marriage what was going to happen between her and Brett.

Does she go back to her husband after meeting Brett or did he make an impact in her life to show her that she can do and deserves so much better than the situation she is currently in?

This book was wonderful! I enjoyed the fresh, simple romance. And for a non-country music lover, Eliza Boyd sucked me into Chelsey and Bret's world, willingly. Yes, I went willingly. Boy, was I glad I did. The story wove a tale of a woman in a loveless, borderline abusive marriage. She waited on her ungrateful husband hand and foot but never found one single inkling of happiness. But then, Chelsey went to a concert on one chance night unbeknownst to her husband and let her hair down.

This is not a book about cheating. It's a book about finding yourself when you were all but lost. Chelsey runs into the handsome country singer Bret and clarity finds her. She realizes there's more to life than being someone's maid and cook.

The story progresses from there and you find yourself rooting for Chelsey to put her big girl panties on and take the next step in her life--a life that leads to happiness.

This sweet romance was different than romances I've read lately. It was wholesome and good. Very refreshing. I would recommend this book to everyone!

I absolutely loved this book!!! I couldn't put it down and read it on one setting. I could totally relate to what Chelsea was going through in her marriage and how she didn't realize that she was a victim of emotional abuse. The one part that I did struggle with was her actions with Brett the first time they meet and how irresponsible she was being along with her friends, and how she put herself in such a potential dangerous situation. Now I know this is just a book but it does concern me for others that read this and believe that behavior is okay and put themselves in harm way especially in this day and age, but I digress. With that being said, I truly loved the book. I loved that Chelsea took the time to fix her own issues and not have a man there to immediately magically pick up the pieces. I also liked the fact that there was a same sex couple in the book as well. I can't wait for Two Pink Lines. Thanks to Eliza Boyd, Patchwork Press, and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book as I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

One Chance Night is a sweet romantic book with intense emotion. It will catch you from the beginning and it flows well until the very end.

Boyd filled this book with realist content and beautifully describes scenes. Her character development was layered and it rounded out the book to make this story one not to be missed.

You will both love and be frustrated the heroine, but with the perfect ending it making this a great book.

I give One Chance Night 4 stars!

“Losing myself and my own identity to become Mrs. Wesley Greer isn’t what I planned to do” Girl I’m feeling you! You hit me straight in the heart with that one!

Chelsea is only 23. She got married at 19 and has been miserable pretty much since. Wesley is a pig and a spoil brat! By the end of only the 1st chapter I wanted to jump in the between the pages and kick his arse, then drag Chelsea out by her hair and slap some sense into her.

Chelsea has let Wesley get away with his selfish and chauvinistic behaviour for too long. Now he expects things a certain way and chucks a tantrum if he doesn’t get what he wants. I think this is probably the most common mistake newlywed women make. Don’t take any crap, marriage is 50/50. Don’t take any crap from day one or it’ll be mission impossible to stop later. My intense dislike for Wesley made it really hard for me to get into the story at first – that pig made me furious.

On one chance night Chelsea sneaks out of the house for some much needed ‘me’ time and ends up striking a long lasting friendship, with as it turns out, four people that night.

Chelsea has an instant lustful connect to muso hottie Brett, but she’s a good little girl and remains faithful – calm down there no adultery in the book. I found Brett a bit too good to be true until we got some back story on him and his super caring and helpful nature made sense.

I really enjoyed chapter 20, when Chelsie finally sticks it to Wesley, stands up for herself and leaves him. It’s always nice to see a bully shut down.

I really liked the two girls, Stevie and Mayra, Chelsea ended up living with. While they were a bit sugary sweet and over the top at times, I liked them and want them as my friends.

Chapter 22 jumps us forward 8 months, but I won’t say anymore as it’d give away the ending. The Epilogue leads us straight into the next book and gives us the whole set up for the next book.

I think if I’d been able to sit down in and read it in one sitting I would be able to enjoy it more. I had a lot going and on and had to fit half an hour here and there to read it. I think I’m also a little jaded to the topic. There was a time when I felt I had lost myself completely and was miserable in my life and marriage because of it, but I made the opposite decision to Chelsea and I made it work. I fought and got myself back stronger than before.

It’s strange, I feel like I’ve failed Ms Boyd by not loving this book. I really wanted to love it, I did try. I think my biggest problem with the book is that I resented how easily everything came together for Chelsea! Actually I think that really was my only problem with the book and that is my fault, not the books.

ANYWAY, this is a story of hope and that shines through. Hope is never lost. You are responsible for your own happiness. If you’re miserable do something about it. The book was well worth the read and I am looking forward to reading more from Eliza Boyd.

I Liked It - Three Stars.

*This review will contain spoilers!*

First things first I need to say a huge thank you to Patchwork Press, for accepting my request to review this title on NetGalley, and to NetGalley for the service that they provide.

'Change has never done me any favors--mostly because I've never tried it-- so I don't know why I imagined that tonight would be any different.'

I was only involved with the release day blitz for Eliza Boyd's debut novel yesterday - but I absolutely flew through this book, so I've already finished it! Following Chelsea Greer, an (un)happily married woman, through her 'One Chance Night' - in which she takes a chance and heads to a bar with a work colleague and her roommate, two women she hardly knows, despite the fact that her husband would go crazy knowing she was sneaking out of the house while he spent time with his friends. While on this night out, she meets mystery man Brett, who recognises the fact that she isn't happy and takes it upon himself to help her talk through her problems and decide what changes to make with her life - and whether to take a chance on the possibility of true love...
The premise of 'One Chance Night' kind of reminded me of the idea behind Gayle Forman's 'Just One Day' (which, admittedly, I haven't read yet - but it's one of those books that is very high up my TBR!) and I was interested in reading a novel entirely set in Chelsea's evening, but I was worried it was going to get a little stale.
Surprisingly, it didn't! The first half was well developed and perfectly set up Chelsea's back story, letting us see inside her life with Wesley - her loveless and passionless relationship, Wesley subtly manipulating her with abusive comments which she tries her hardest not to retaliate to. When Chelsea gets invited out by a friend at work, she automatically disregards it, believing that Wesley would be angry if she went out, showing just how debilitated her self possession is by this man who is supposed to love her. You can't resist feeling completely empathetic towards Chelsea, who finds herself in a marriage she doesn't want with no friends and her parents over the other side of the world.
When Chelsea meets Brett in the bar at the open mic night, her nervous disposition also made me feel so bad for her - even just harmless joking around has her flinching in case he verbally reprimands her. This might have been more effective if we'd seen some more of Wesley's behaviour towards her in the past - all we have to go off of are her recollections and anecdotes, but we don't actually get to experience any of his harsh words or the actions verging on violence, meaning it seems a bit sudden when she starts flinching and reacting terribly.
The only complaints I have about 'One Chance Night' can all be equated down to the length of the novel.

*2.5 STARS*

There were many things I liked about this book and many things I didn’t like about this book.

What I liked:

Lets be honest, I’m a sucker for a good cover and Boyd has a really lovely cover.

The book held a nice and consistent pace. It never really lagged or had too long a pause between significant events. Boyd has done well to keep her readers attention.
The writing itself was also a highlight of this book for me. It was very well written which is a small pleasure that is sometimes forgotten about in a good story, when you’re so into it that you forget how much time and effort went into making sure you don’t even notice it’s there. Does that make sense?
One other nice aspect to this book was the slow build of confidence within our protagonist. She starts thinking she is only worth the life she has at the moment but as the story progresses the growth within her is very pleasing to see.

What I didn’t like: Our protagonist. Chelsea.

She, maybe unfairly, annoyed the crap out of me and was the one thing that made it difficult to keep reading.

I understand, I do. Shes stuck in an emotionally abusive marriage. I know that this is a very real, very delicate subject matter to delve into and hard to do it correctly. But for me, Chelsea was just…a very frustrating character.

She has the means to leave her loveless marriage, she had her own job and her own secret bank account and can afford to shell out for drinks all night at a bar for crying out loud. There is this constant running commentary of her saying how much NOT in love she is with her husband and how horrible and disgusting and mean he is, she blames everything wrong in her live on him, and granted some of it is his fault by proxy, but it gets a lot ‘oh woe is me’. I mean she even slams him on him wanting to buy her a beautiful wedding ring!

The thing however that really solidified my dislike over our protagonist is that it takes another MAN in order for her to finally do what shes been wanting to do for basically most of their marriage, which is leave.

It takes another man to make her even entertain the idea of leaving.

It takes another MAN.

See what i’m saying here? And of course its the first man she comes across, who she instantly is able to tell everything to and who is, of course, handsome and kind and woefully understanding and wise and of course thinks shes the most beautiful creature ever (which she can’t see why). Basically we have the exact opposite of her husband. Like literally. I mean who even is this guy? Because we don’t really get to know him. Why does he want to get involved in someone else’s marriage? And why the hell would he ask her so ‘spend the night’ with him AFTER he found out she was married!?

I just couldn’t get past Chelsea to enjoy the otherwise well written book about such important subject matter. It was a real shame because I really did want to enjoy this book.

This was a quick, cute book about a woman taking back control of her life and finding herself and love along the way.

We open with seeing Chelsea's life with her husband who is the biggest jerk. We find out later, unsurprisingly, he is verbally and emotionally abusive. She does everything she can to avoid his wrath. She cooks, cleans, runs and diets to keep in shape. She doesn't go out besides to work. It is ridiculous. She clearly is broken and has no self esteem or support to help her out of this.

Chelsea gets invited out by a co worker to a country night at a bar with her and her roommate. Since her husband will be out she decides to sneak out and go. While there she meets a man that changes everything in her life.

The story is a little undeveloped for me. Everything happens sooo fast. I am not sure if this was a bit tongue in cheek of the author but it references insta-love in the book. It seriously made me laugh until it kind of happened. It was kind of insta-change too. I mean in one night she just grew a set and changed her life. Although to be fair the title of the book is One Chance Night so that is what you get.

While I felt it was all a bit abrupt for me, I am all for girl power so that was awesome. I loved that she grew into a strong person and really found herself, which was something she didn't get to do marrying at such a young age into such a bad marriage.

Another high point for me were the female friendships she made with her coworker Stevie and her roommate Mayra. I love she good supportive friendships among characters. Stevie was really awesome. She was a lot of fun but also very normal. When all the insta-romancy stuff was happening she acted as the voice of reason with Chelsea. And thank god otherwise it would have been a bit too unbelievable. To at least see a normal point of view made it bearable.

Brett, the guy in this love story, was perfect. Handsome, smelled good, wasn't pushy, played a guitar. I mean what the hell els else do you people want???

Overall, this was a quick, easy, perfect for summer read. If you can overlook a little insta-love and insta-change it is a cute book that has an good universal message behind it.For more reviews visit Rebel Mommy Book Blog

See more of my reviews on my blog Thoughts At One In The Morning.

Upon finishing, my initial reaction:

FEELS. So. Many. Feels. Such a powerful and honest story. There were definitely tears falling down my cheeks.

My Thoughts (full review):

When I first heard about Eliza Boyd's debut novel, I was super stoked and couldn't wait to read it. I expected it to be an emotionally charged book, one that would bring on the feels. I just had no idea how many feels it would bring, and how much it would make me tear up and even cry!

Chelsea's life isn't what she expected. She does seem to have it all, but having a husband, house, and job doesn't mean life is perfect. Her husband, Wesley, is not a remotely decent person--he's verbally abusive and very controlling. It seems he used to be a good man at one point, but things changed and Chelsea accepted it. She struggles to keep herself together, to do what she has to by staying with him and making sure she's always there when he gets home.

But she decides to go out one night....and everything changes when she meets Brett. Now, I can't go into too many details without just telling the whole entire story, but I will say that the conversations with Brett were intense and eye-opening. That night influences Chelsea in an amazing way, but you have to read for yourself to find out what happens.

One Chance Night is a story of hope, love, and learning how to have enough confidence in yourself. Chelsea's story is sadly like a lot of other real life stories--abusive spouse, the feeling that there's no way out, etc. It was empowering to read a story about a woman who learns how to choose for herself what she wants in life, and it's exactly what women need to know--there IS a way. Amazing debut novel by Eliza Boyd and I can't wait to read the rest of the Make a Change series!

My Rating: Very Good

I love when a book not only takes me by surprise, but has the ability to make me think. What one would consider this situation to be "black and white," isn't. It's easy to sit on the outside passing judgement, or give advice we feel is an obvious solution without knowing the full details or how alone, isolated and lost someone really is.

Chelsea has been married to her high school sweet-heart for four years and is not happy. Taking a chance and going out with one of her co-workers, she meets someone who she is instantly attracted to, and opens up about her life. As events unfold, Chelsea comes to realize that she is in control and must make the first steps on her journey to happiness.

There are things within this situation that might not sit right with some. While in a sense, I am in agreement but looking at the bigger picture, I never felt what she was doing what overly wrong. Again - situation has a lot of gray in it. What Chelsea needed were friends, and someone to listen. I believe she would have found that with Stevie (her co-worker) but something sparked between her and Brett. She has a lot of growth to her character. She is a people-pleaser and push over, and watching her gain that confidence back was beautiful.

I really wish the book was longer, so I was able to get more depth to all the characters, especially Brett and Chelsea, because that is what really hindered my attachment to the characters.

Overall - I enjoyed it! One Chance Night took me by surprise. While it is a love story in a sense, it is mainly about a young woman on a path of self discovery and finding her place within the world.

Chelsea goes out with a friend from work to hear Country Music. She loves it, but her husband does not. In fact, there is a lot they no longer have in common. It may be time to let him go. She is thinking this through as she arrives to hear the music.

While at the bar in Chicago, she meets Brett. He plays the guitar like a pro and has a duo with Ian that blows the public away. When he is not performing, he is talking to Chelsea and her friends. She finds that he is just as attracted to her as she is to him. Can she tell him the truth?

When she goes outside and talks to Brett - he helps her see that in a real relationship, there should be more. She should feel cherished, loved, special. It is her birthday and her own husband didn't remember! She has felt so good being out with Brett and Steve.

Decision made, Chelsea goes home to confront the man who is supposed to love her. They have it out and she tries to move on. Time passes and her life changes. She also changes. It is 8 long months before she sees Brett again.

This story is so incredible! It kind of sneaks up on you... and you never see it coming. The characters have good development, they talk sweet and sexy, the food makes me hungry, and the new friends are loyal. Everything you can ask for if you have found yourself in a rut and not sure what to do. Abuse comes in many forms, and in this book we see that the scars are not always visible.

I received an eARC of One Chance night from Patchwork Press via NetGalley, in exchange with my honest review .

This is not just about romance; it is about getting a second chance and learning how to make the best out of it.

The character building was on point! I was able to feel Chelsea's distress, Brett's charming charisma, and Wesley's jerkiness . I can rant all day on why I love Brett, and hate Wesley.

Did I mention that is under 200 pages ?? Imagine how ( not so long )it took me to feel all of this ; well because Eliza is a brilliant writer.

The way story was told kind of reminded me of Poison Study by Maria.V. Snyder. Not because of the plot, but because of the storytelling . You have a lot things happening to the main character, but you have no idea why her marriage sucks. You get bits of information along the way, until Boom ! The dramatic reason finally is revealed. The revelation happens much earlier than in Poison Study, but you get what I mean.

The story was really interesting at the beginning, then it kind of dropped a bit , but then it returned to its "really interesting" level by the end .

I did not know that this was a part of a series until I finished the book. I know, it is written on the cover .:D But the ending is not a cliffhanger for Chelsea's story. However, it is an interesting cliffhanger for the series as a whole. I already want to read the second book : Two Pink Lines!

I give One Chance Night 4/5 stars.

**I was provided an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review. I did not receive any compensation for providing my opinion.**

One Night Chance by Eliza Boyd is a story about rediscovering who you are and finding the strength to go after what you want. I enjoyed the book. It is different than a lot of the books that I have been reading lately. It is a sweet and simple story and there isn’t a whole lot of action and dramatics. It was a refreshing read.

One Night Chance is a story about Chelsea, a twenty three year old who married her high school sweetheart at the age of nineteen and lost herself in the process, and Brett, an up and coming country music star. One chance meeting at a bar in Chicago for an open mike night, changes the course of both of their lives.

I appreciate the story for what it is…..a simple story about finding yourself again and discovering what love really is. If you are looking for a story with lots of action and twists and turns, this may not be the book for you. If you are looking for a refreshing, feel good story, than I highly recommend it.

I really liked this book. I really wouldn't call it a romance even though there is some, but more of a story about finding yourself and sticking up for her. This book handles something that is close to my heart, emotional abuse. I have been that emotionally abused girl before but luckily I got away from that relationship before marrying the guy, but I was young and even though it has been several years since I let that relationship go, I still find myself struggling with things that were said to the teenage girl I was at that time. For this reason I was able to relate to Chelsea.

There were several parts of this story that made me laugh and near tears. There was a lot of inner dialogue in this book but it was needed. This is Chelsea's story and I felt like it was important that we learned as much as we did about her through her. Very well down debut book!

This review is going to be very short because I have a brother who wants the laptop. :'( I always hate giving out bad reviews because I feel that the authors will hate me after this! I know that a lot of people loves this book but I just could not get into this book! I made it up to fifty pages when I just gave up! I can say the writing technique is good because I like that type of technique but for me the lead heroine was just so whining! If you don’t like your husband then seriously do something about it!! Anyway this is all I have time to say, I will come update this review later!

One Chance Night is one of the many NetGalley books that I read, loved, but never wrote a proper, full-length review on. Now, I’m slowly working my way back through that collection on my kindle, because there are some true gems in there that I feel not a lot of people know about. One Chance Night by Eliza Boyd was at the top of the list, because I distinctly remembered it being amazing. My memory served me right; I devoured this book, just like I did the first time I read it.

I received an ARC for my honest review.

This Book for me was just okay. I had some issues with this book. One issue I had was that I just didn't feel like the characters were as young as 24 and felt like they were much older than that. I couldn't really connect with the characters. This is not a terrible book, but it just wasn't my kind of book. Although the ending was better than the beginning and middle of the book and it made it worth my time reading.
