Maths - What they'd teach you....if they had the time: How your teachers would like to teach maths if they had the time

Rate this book
This is just a sample of a series of books i am developing. When you leave feedback please email me as when i have completed the books i intend to give out a lot of free copies to my mailing list. Will Pythagoras always work ? Where does calculus come from ? What's the point of trigonometry ? Why does that work ? Where does that come from ? These are questions that may have considered but as teachers and tutors are often stretched and short of time don't have time to explain them to you. Students are often taught how to follow the steps to solve the problem. Here is a sample of a larger book. This book goes beyond current teaching and endevours to give you a deeper understanding of particular subject areas of mathematics. Where does a particular formula come from, explaining calculus.

Insightful Briefs on Major Math Concepts

This short illustrative works focuses on five vignettes relating to the pythagorean theorem. pythagorean triples, trigonometric basic theory, the quadratic formula derivation, and calculus basics of differentiation.

Not sure to whom these mathematical abstracts are targeted because they are too advanced for beginners and yet too limited for more experienced math students. Perhaps they might have value for those wanting a quick refresher of these limited and highly focused concepts. However, their narrow focus is too limited in content. The economical price makes the initial investment nearly without risk, but it's possible that acquiring the whole series might be valuable to some.

One major concern was formatting that is not scalable for textual or fixed graphics elements, making the pages fixed elements that can only be enlarged in Kindle to the device's screen size, making closer analysis cumbersome.

I had expected more, but low pricing lessened my disappointment to a moderately acceptable level. Not sure if I will explore some other parts of the series.

Nicely rationalized derivations of key math concepts

What is the source of the quadratic equation, the Patagonian equation, and the rational for integration and derivatives. Thes are simply explained ina step by step analysis.

Good for absolute beginners

Clever, simplified. It's a compact, condensed version of the tomes being sold out for high school and early College, minus the exercises. Good as review text.

A very rough draft. Incomplete, lacking clear explanations, lack of concise steps or reasons for the examples... glad it only took some of my time and a little bit of cost out of my Kindle Unlimited plan!

Wow great stuff

Lots of common sense stuff that needs to be fresh in your memory. How much do you remember about this stuff

Very good.

But little more elaboration would have been even better, mainly for those who are approaching it from a different background.

Waste

Not long enough to be any good. Let alone the fact that there aren't any revelations in it. Waste of money!

Hmmm…

“What they’d teach you…if they had the time….”

Alas, he doesn’t take the time to do it well. Perhaps if he had a little more time….

Not as accessible as i had hoped

Still not clearly explained, its like maths class, I don't get it and there's little by way of explanation.
I'm sure its interesting if you understand it but then why would you need the book?
