This is the first and the best story I've read about WWII and the persecution of the Jews, because the message of Jesus was shared. It's disturbing to think of all those people dying without knowing the Savior. Maybe other Christ followers shared, but this is the first I've read and it was a delight.

An excellent read aloud! It was an exciting, historical fiction story that tied in with our study of WWII. I love that it was a Christian book, too!

I feel like it dealt well with the Holocaust for the targeted age. It didn’t sugarcoat things, and there are some frightening moments. In the midst of all the ugliness of war, though, is the hope and peace of Jesus the Messiah!

SPOILERS*** In one part the characters hear machine guns shooting a group of boys. In the end the two boys are able to cross the border to Switzerland. The German boy’s parents have been released from prison, but the Jewish boy’s father and sister are unaccounted for. The Jewish mother is safe.

I've always loved this little book. It's got a great story and even through the story, it shows a great way to witness to the Jews.
