Rule Number 1: Don’t get tipsy in Vegas and have a one night stand with the Goddess of Harvest. Rule Number 2: Whatever happens in Vegas, don't let Hera interfere. Rule Number 3: When Hera inevitably interferes and ties you to Demeter for all eternity (or until she restarts spring on Earth), try not to fall in love.
When the most popular (and devastatingly beautiful, everybody says so) Muse breaks the centuries old rule and gets entangled with the Goddess of Harvest, the entire Olympus is in upheaval.
What happens when Hera steps in to resolve the conundrum only to bring about the most adored trope of them all, forced proximity? Will Demeter surrender to the irresistible Muse? And will Erato finally see herself as more than Aphrodite’s sidekick?
The Cupids & Goddesses are back! Sabine, Abby and Aphrodite are bringing with them a steamy and highly trope'y third installment in the Perfect Match series, filled to the brim with intrigue-weaving immortals, spring festivals, charming rogues and a grand gesture for the ages!

Milena McKay is a Lambda Literary and Golden Crown Literary Society award-winning sapphic fiction author.
She is a cat whisperer who wears four-inch heels for work while secretly dreaming of her extensive Converse collection. Would live on blueberries and lattes if she could.
Milena can recite certain episodes of The West Wing by heart and quote “Pride and Prejudice” in her sleep. Her love for Cate Blanchett's Carol Aird knows no bounds.
I absolutely loved the first two novellas but I think Book 3 is now my favorite. Erato, the muse of Erotica, has a one night stand with Demeter, the Goddess of Harvest. Although it was lights out sex, both of them are also affected deeply by the connection. I won’t say what happens next because there are some inventive twists in the story and I don’t want to spoil them. I will say that this book builds the sexual tension nicely as Erato and Demeter try to find the right language to express their love to one another. Their characters play with the trope of a royal falling for a working author. But the surprise for me was Erato’s battle with self worth. Those doubts add another layer. I also liked the notion of people being more than what they present. Past characters from the first books, like Sabine and Aphrodite, make key appearances that are very funny. Love, sex, and a mischievous wink. The Cupids & Goddesses books are gold. I recommend reading them especially if you’re in the mood for something quick and sexy.
Thank you to the author for the arc. I am leaving a review voluntarily.
Milena McKay has done it again—and dare I say, even outdone herself—with Perfectly Matching Again: A Novella For All Seasons. This third installment in the Cupids & Goddesses Quartet is an absolute divine delight, brimming with chemistry, chaos, and charm from Olympus to Earth. If you’ve been thirsting for a sapphic romance that blends lush prose, wit sharper than Cupid’s arrow, and heart-racing mythology with a modern twist—this is it. This is the one.
Erato, our gloriously confident Muse of Erotic Poetry (or, as we lovingly refer to her: the Muse of Smut), is magnetic. She exudes big main character energy with just the right blend of swagger and vulnerability. And Demeter? She is the soft but strong counterpoint—the kind of character who speaks in silences and blooms with every page. Their dynamic? Off. The. Charts. Forced proximity via Hera-level meddling? Check. A reluctant divine bond that turns into the slowest of slow burns and then explodes in a fiery crescendo? Check and check.
The tension between Erato and Demeter is exquisitely crafted. McKay's prose is cinematic, sensual, and emotionally grounded. Every glance, every banter-laced argument, every sacred oath felt earned. The world of Olympus crackles with personality—from scheming goddesses to devoted mortals—and the cameos from Aphrodite, Sabine, and Abby add an extra layer of fun, mischief, and love that fans of the series will adore.
And that grand gesture? I gasped. I laughed. I reread it three times. The ending hit like a Persephone-in-springtime level bloom of joy.
This novella is not just sexy (though yes, it very much is)—it’s emotionally resonant and deeply romantic. It’s about finding worth beyond your title, love beyond logic, and the courage to be seen, even when your story has always been told through someone else’s lens.
Five stars. One for each time I had to pause and clutch my e-reader to my chest while whispering “ohhhhhhhh, they’re in love.”
Read this book. Read this series. Then re-read it while wearing a laurel crown, sipping wine and sighing dramatically. You deserve this kind of sapphic joy.
Thank you to Milena McKay for an ARC of this incredible novella in exchange for an honest review
When I say I DEVOURED this book!! I LOVED it! Thank you so much Milena for sending me an ARC. It’s always a privilege to read your books and they certainly never miss the mark! This one was no different. I adore Greek mythology retelling, make it sapphic and I’m there! I thoroughly enjoyed this one of Erato and Demeter. I think I want to be Erato when I grow up 🤣 or she’s my spirit animal for sure!! Highly recommend giving this series a go. It consists of three books so far, all just over just over 100 pages and on KU. First two books have audio available now! Done by the amazing Abby Craden. This book is releasing on the 14th June, so add it to your calendar!
It’s written in third person with one main POV. Forced proximity, Muse/Goddess, One night to forever, Black Cat/Golden Retriever. 1 delicious spicy scene 😈
Well well well. I ll still hold the first novela as the dearest to my heart, but I hadn't said that this one fell short. It was, though, too short especially at the end. End was...too quick! Somehow... And I dislike when so much effort goes into something, both from writers effort to create something, up to the characters' efforts over the things they do, and then ending comes abruptly...
In real life I don't like humans, especially women, who act like Erato does.... so I couldnt like her as much as I should like a character, do I know what Demeter saw in her and ehy especially the writer decided to put these two together... But voila .... I did enjoy this novela and I was dredging my feet reading it....only few sentences at a time in order to prolong the pleasure and enjoy those two who didnt know how to even communicate properly😁
Thamk you miss McKay for another Greek myths based novela! I truly truly truly am grateful even if it does not maybe look like I am😁
Ah yes my fun was spoiled only by the last chapter on Nemesis I found totally either unnecessary or most def ... exactly a mood spoiler. Erato and Demeter didnt habe enough of nor space nor time in here and they deserved the novela to be finished with them.
In just 3 short books Milena has crafted an entire world that merges earth as we see it now, with Greek mythology in a seamless delivery of wit, passion, philosophy and smut.
The premise surrounds that of Aphrodite and her army of Cupids lining up so called ‘perfect matches’. As we progress through the series we discuss the concept of the perfect match vs the freedom to choose your love.
For those who love a series with returning characters, this delivers. Returning Cupids, visiting gods, goddesses and muses all overlap, but not in a way that leaves you asking “who was that again?”. Milena has managed to flesh out most of the big Olympian contenders with often hilarious results, and easily (often not so redeemable) features to remember.
Today’s books launch brings the third instalment, Perfectly Matching Again, onto our virtual shelves. We follow the tale of Erato, the Muse of smut (Erotic poetry) as she files away her promiscuity, comes to terms with her self worth and falls for our Goddess of harvest, Demeter. Erato’s glorious internal thoughts make her hands down my favourite character from the series, although I have to admit my interests are piqued by the Queen that is Hera…I believe a ‘watch this space’ is in order here…
Thank you Milena for bringing these witty, and fluff loving characters to life. I’ll take them as way of an apology for the angst you punish us with elsewhere.
All three books are brilliant, witty and pure fuzzy feels
Everyone knows not to mess with Demeter, the Goddess of Harvest (Y’all remember what happened with Persephone, right?). But fate seems to have different plans for Erato, the Muse of Erotic Poetry, or shortened into ‘Smut’ (Lives up to her name~). A one-night stand with Demeter at the Cupid Convention seems to have evaporated Spring from the universe. So, an important task is now on the shoulders of one muse. And interfering, meddling Hera seems to have tied Erato to Demeter till the situation is over (Don’t screw with the queen of Gods too~). All Erato has to do is make Spring come back on Earth. Easy peasy, right? (Noooooo~)
Will Erato fail to bring back Spring, or will she melt Demeter and bring spring back into the heart of the Goddess of Harvest?
*Summary written under the influence of bears
We all know that Milena McKay is the established queen of writing ice queens and angst. But now I believe we also have to crown her the queen of comedy also, because I laughed so damn hard while reading this book. The black cat, and golden retriever that do a lot of things worthy of being in the doghouse (pun intended) vibe was lovely and both characters complemented each other perfectly. While usually the golden retriever is the one waiting for the black cat, here, Demeter is the one waiting for Erato to get her shit together, and Erato would be a damn fool if she lets Demeter slip through her fingers. And the stage scene where everything comes together in the end? CHAOTIC AND PERFECT (chef’s kiss)
I also appreciate how Demeter is depicted in this narrative. Demeter is often portrayed as the overbearing mother in a lot of retellings, but in Perfectly Matching Again, she is also her own person with her own story, burdens, and expectations to carry. I believe Greek mythology lovers would definitely love this side of interpretation.
Also, honorary mention of bears!! Y’all are so, so wonderful. Never change.
I received an ARC from the author for an honest review.
Perfectly Matching Again brings readers back into the whimsical world of goddesses, muses, and meddling Olympians, but this installment felt less focused than its predecessors. While the novella offers a satisfying ending, the journey there felt rushed, making it difficult to fully appreciate the emotional development between Erato and Demeter.
The number of intervening characters, though amusing in theory, often detracted from the central romance, making it harder to connect with the leads. Demeter’s frustrations were understandable, but the audiobook narration may have amplified them in a way that felt unbalanced. Despite this, the final resolution offered a sweet and redemptive payoff that wrapped the story up neatly.
This novella might not be the strongest in the Cupids & Goddesses quartet, but it still has moments that fans of the series will appreciate—especially those who enjoy trope-filled mythological reimaginings with a sapphic twist.
Definitivamente me favorito!
I just finished reading this and I am so mad at myself because I didn't know this was the 3rd book in the series. It didn't dawn on me to check on Goodreads first and obviously I had no idea how this world was working because there was no world building-probably because it's the third book and the author supposes you know how the world works. I was going to give it a 1 star because if this had been the first book there was so much left unsaid and so many comments to previous events that weren't explained. But since I know it was my fault I am giving it 3 stars. Mostly because even as a third book in the series, I don't think it was interesting enough for me to consider it a 4 or 5 star.
I've loved all 3 books in this series but this one struck me as especially wonderful. There just isn't anything not to love in this series. I highly recommend you try this quick amazing group of novellas. You'll laugh, swoon, sit on the edge of your seat holding your breath, and then lean back, relax, and have a smile planted on your face for quite awhile. What a way to spend a couple hours!
Erato, Muse of Erotica, shouldn't be a fated match with Demeter, Goddess of the Harvest. But in the aftermath of Aphrodite and Athena getting together, something happened, plus they slept together.
Now spring is months late (oops) and Aphrodite has ordered Erato to fix this.
Oh, and Hera is REALLY pissed.
Okay, actually the Hera chapter is pretty damn funny.
Unusual, yes that is the word for this love of the ancient Gods.
Milena McKay has penned this third in a series of Cupid’s sending arrows of love targeting those of the Ancient Greek God, this one focuses on Hera’s sister Demeter and the muse Erato, the muse of erotic love. It is an amusing love story, well written and full of character. The hot scenes are just that hot and fun. It is a fun afternoon by the pool read.
Perfect Matching Again is the third installment in McKay's Cupids and Goddesses Quartet, overflowing with chemistry, humor, and—dare I say—love, leaving me grinning long after I turned the last page. Erato’s suave charm pairs beautifully with Demeter’s cool, magnetic presence. Thrown into a whirlwind of swoonworthy tropes, the two emerge on the other side transformed. With all the meddling, ego, and divine chaos only Greek mythology can deliver, this novella is nothing short of unforgettable.
What an friggin awesome story. I love this series and when it keeps adding to an already great storyline it just gets better somehow! I can't wait til the 4th book comes out.
Milena as always does an incredible job with her characters. Did I liked Erato in the previous novellas? Not so much! Do I love her now!??? Hell YES! Amazing fluffy read to enjoy a cute story interwined with the characters I love so much!
This is probably my favorite book in the series so far!
Ugh. Everything about this book is perfect. The MCs, their chemistry, the side characters (HECK HERA I SEE YOU👀), the writing, the dialogue, and omygosh Erato’s speech?? Gosh. Perfect! Really!
