They warned me about the fae—their cunning ways, their sly words, their lethal touch. “Never go to the South Sea,” they said. But they never warned me about him.
I’m Sienna Osiris, a fire-wielding descendant of gods, trapped in a life of duty and politics. I was elected to serve alongside my great grandmother Queen Lilith, and to marry a man that made the kingdom swoon. But then Jasper stormed into my life—a fae prince with smoldering green eyes and hands that melt me into bliss. When Jasper exposes the truth my family has kept hidden—the lies they’ve woven to manipulate me—my entire world crumbles.
He’s forbidden. Untouchable. And yet, when he’s near, every inch of me aches to break the rules.
He says I am the one who can help him save his poisoned kingdom, and with only 12 weeks until I am married, I throw caution to the wind for a man I should've killed at first sight. He’s everything I shouldn’t want, yet he’s the only one who’s ever made me feel this alive. And the closer I get to him, the more I realize…I’d set the whole world on fire just to keep him.

3/5 🌶️ - Enemies to Lovers - Forbidden Love - Found Family - Race Against Time - Ancient Rivalries
This book was very interesting. I’d say it was a 4.5 stars rounded up. The book is a blend of modern day and fantasy. They live in a world with magic and fae but also they have some technology. No cell phones but cameras and microphones. It was a fun blend of modern and fantasy. Sienna was raised to not only fear the fae but hate the fae by her great grandmother who said that the fae were responsible for all the bad things that have ever happened to their family. That is until one day she discovers that that might not be the truth and it starts with her meeting Jasper and learning a lot of harsh truths. It changes how she views her great grandmother and her life. She decides to make a change and trust the gorgeous fae man. In the end Sienna learns a lot and does something to help fix the long standing issue. The only thing about this book that was odd was how fast the conflict was fixed. Like they discover all the secrets and everyone just kinda accepts it right away. It seemed unrealistic and overly optimistic but maybe in the next books we’ll see more of this conflict come back. I am excited to read the next books.
Tropes: opposites, Romeo and Juliet style, sorta enemies to lovers(I say sorta cuz it was like maybe 5 seconds), touch her and d!e, see, surprise pregnancy, touch him and d!e, family secrets
I received this book as an ARC and would rate it 3.75/5. The story is really good. I love a villainous queen whose secrets come unraveled. Throw in some good spice and a couple of curses to break and you’ve got my attention. It was a bit fast paced for me both in plot and character relationships. I also think it could use at least one more round of editing. But overall, I enjoyed this book and I’m excited to see more from this author.
If you’re like me and love fantasy and romance novels, then this one is for you! Threads of Flames and Starlight captivated me in a way that had me constantly turning pages until I reached the very end. It’s such a captivating, inspiring, and refreshing story.
The main characters, Jasper and Sienna, are incredibly comforting and wonderful. They make you feel like you’ve known them for years. Their emotions, uncertainty, and the way they cared for and protected each other felt so authentic. Honestly, they are the ultimate couple goals! Their relationship is one that shows trust, vulnerability, and strength — something I aspire to have with my own partner.
Here are a few of my favourite quotes from the book, along with my thoughts on why they stood out:
“I was exposed and raw, succumbing my selfish desires to a stranger in the night. It was my middle finger to the lies and the deception, unleashing through the middle finger inside that made me wet and weak.” This moment was such a powerful breakthrough for Sienna. After being controlled and manipulated, her choice to finally break free and make her own decisions was so satisfying. I couldn’t help but cheer her on!
“That passion has resurrected my spirit. You are the muse to the song my soul sings when I wake up each morning. You’re the spark in my eye, the ember in my heart, and the woman that ignites my being to life. Sienna Osiris, I love you, and I am in love with you.” Jasper’s heartfelt confession melted me! The way he always supported and trusted Sienna showed his unwavering love. It was such a beautiful declaration of his feelings.
“A world I didn’t know existed was out there, and it was a world that I wanted to live in.” This quote perfectly captures the shift in Sienna’s life. From being a princess controlled by her cold-hearted queen to finally finding freedom, this moment felt like a breath of fresh air.
This book is not just about romance or fantasy. It’s about connection, communication, and the courage to fight for what’s right. It tells a powerful story about healing, making bold choices, and saving a kingdom from poisoned food and soil. The poisoning storyline was especially intense — one kingdom was deliberately contaminating crops and water supplies in a twisted attempt to weaken their rivals. This calculated act of sabotage left entire villages sick and in turmoil, forcing Sienna and Jasper to unite forces and uncover the truth behind the deceit. Their determination to restore balance and protect innocent lives adds depth and urgency to the story’s emotional core.
I can’t wait to review the rest of the series! Two books are already out, and the third is expected by Spring 2025. If you love stories filled with emotion, magic, and meaningful relationships, Threads of Flames and Starlight is a must-read!
I just finished my arc read and i thought the story and characters were great but at times i felt the book was a bit fast paced. if you're looking for a fast and easy read with romance, spicy, and an entertaining plot then definitely give this book a read!
This book was a fast-paced, exhilarating read, great for romantasy fans.
Sienna Osiris is living a life that is not her own; her formidable, ice queen of a great-grandmother rules with an iron fist and betrothed Sienna to a popular noble. As Sienna prepares to fulfill her duty to Kymeris and the crown, one trip to the forbidden South Sea changes everything.
Jasper Rivers is desperate to save his kingdom and people as their powers fade. He lands at the South Sea and finds the woman prophesied to help him save Larnithra. Sienna is skeptical as she and the citizens of Kymeris were told stories of the Fae but when Jasper's words and old secrets line up, Sienna agrees to help.
I loved the character development of our FMC; Sienna grows from naively following her formidable great grandmother and doing what is expected of her to a woman with her own thoughts and capable of making her own decisions. Jasper inspires that change through actions towards her and others that are noble and protective. He never forces Sienna to do anything and demonstrates patience I wish I had.
The minor characters were fun, the setting was easy to imagine. The only critique I have is that the book had a couple typos and could have been edited one more time. But it was a fun story and I can't wait for the next book!
Threads of Flames and Starlight is the perfect story to cure a book hangover or want a fun light read. It’s captivating from the very first page and moves at such a fast pace that I flew through it in no time. If you're looking for something immersive but easy to read, this book absolutely delivers. The fast pace kept the momentum strong throughout the story. One of the things I really enjoyed was the seamless blend of modern technology with a lush, fantasy setting it gave the world a unique fresh feel without being overly complicated. The romance was a central theme, and while I personally would’ve liked to see it unfold a little more slowly, it was still well written and emotionally compelling. It’s marketed as an enemies-to-lovers story, but I didn’t quite get that slow-burn tension I typically associate with the trope. Their relationship took off pretty quickly, which made it feel more like a fast blooming connection than a true enemies-to-lovers arc. Overall, it’s a compelling read with a vivid world, dynamic characters, and a storyline that keeps you hooked. Threads is a fun, fast paced read with a unique world and solid romantic payoff. I’ll definitely be picking up the next book to see where the story leads.
I was a lucky recipient of this book with the ARC for the second book. A great story overall with a fast-paced plot and relationship arc. At times the story moved a bit to fast and I would have to review parts to catch up, but about the time that Jasper and Sienna start their whirlwind romance and find how to cure their people the story takes some fun turns, and it is an easy read. I found myself wanting more- more context, more background, more words to give life to this story. Overall I was a fan, and I think I wanted to fall harder for the characters and see a bit more of their interpersonal developments. With such a fast paced story, there is a lot of general acceptance that we readers have to give, a lot of just being ok with things on the characters part and less conflict (which was not a bad thing). There is love, treachery, curses, found family, a blend of modern things in a fae kingdom, and plenty of smexy scenes to keep the fires running. I am excited to read Ravens book, especially with how the spoiler chapter starts out…

It’s a pretty standard romantasy with plenty of spice, but it doesn’t bring anything particularly new to either the fantasy or romance genres.
The story moves quickly, sometimes too quickly. It’s a fast-paced book that never feels rushed, but the scenes don’t dig very deep. Much of the storytelling stays on the surface, with more telling than showing. Since the book is also on the short side, I often found myself wishing it were longer with more detail and development.
I also think this book could have benefitted from one more round of editing. The formatting throughout was distracting, with no indentations and dialogue that wasn’t clearly set apart, which made it difficult to follow. The fantasy world also felt inconsistent, modern elements such as cameras and microphones clashed with the setting, and the frequent use of contemporary slang and phrasing gave it a more modern tone that didn’t really fit within the fantasy realm.
Overall, though, it’s a light and entertaining read - perfect if you’re looking for something quick and fun!
“The people are expecting a prince. Tonight, they may get a beast” 😮💨😮💨
This is a fast pace story set in a land with fae and magic, curses and an evil queen. Sienna and Jasper (a fae male, fae males are dangerous, so she’s been told her entire life) join together to break a curse that has been placed on his people, the journey is an eye opening one for Sienna, in more than just one way. Enemies to lovers, these two have their work cut out for them. The spicy scenes are great and the side characters are very memorable. The character growth is nice and the overall story is very thought out and the details are just enough, although the book ends on somewhat of a cliffhanger, you aren’t left confused, just wanting the second book asap. This is book one in the series and I can’t wait for following books!
With each book, the author grows tremendously. The first one was a little confusing to follow, the second one less so. And the third one less so than the one before it. The story of Robin and Sylvie is the best so far. Not only is the writing better, but the characters and the story have more depth. Still a quick, fun read; but the characters are more understandable, their personalities more relatable. I can’t wait to see how the author continues to grow into their own. I also am a bit excited for Ajax’s story. He’s been my favorite character so far.
The story of Sylvie and Robin is a slow burn compared to the two couples featured in book one and two. But so much more enjoyable. Each couple reads as more interesting, and more love able than the last. There is some past trauma both characters deal with, and they heal and grow together, its a beautiful arc.
✅Magic ✅Fae ✅Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ ✅Family Secrets ✅Enemies to lovers
This is a fast paced story that involves magic and fae. Sienna thought Jasper as an enemy until the truth came out. Then, they were inseparable. The story had more revelations about Sienna’s family, and Jasper was there for her through it all.
The relationship between the characters were great. Aside from Sienna and Jasper, I liked the dynamic among Jasper, Raven, and Robin. I think Lucas, despite being absent in the latter half, made some impression as well.
If the book was a little longer and given more time to develop, then the ending would not have been so anticlimactic. Most of the conflict was wrapped up pretty quickly. It was alright, but I wanted some more details. Everything felt rushed in the end.
I will read the other books in the series to know what happens to the other characters.

I appreciate being lucky enough to get the ARC for both this and the second book, so thank you, Katie!
I agree with the other reviews that said this was a bit fast-paced; the writing was pretty good, though. but, and I promise I’m not a prude, personally it felt a little less plot-driven and more smut-driven. and that’s NOT a dig at Katie because I still enjoyed the book overall, that’s just not my favorite thing in the world.
all that being said, I liked the way this book was written, I enjoyed the characters, and I’m really excited to jump further into the series :) thank you again for letting me be an ARC reader!
I enjoyed this book, and am looking forward to reading the next in the series. The relationship between the nations in the book provides a good backdrop for everything that happens, and the individual relationships between the main character and those around here are all unique and interesting to unfold. I did feel at times that the pacing was different from what I anticipated - either moving quickly without as much detail as I'd like, or lingering over some of the spicy scenes longer than I preferred. But the story was still enthralling and it may be that the pace was right after all, since it kept driving me onward to finish the story.
TROPES: ❤️Forbidden love ❤️Race against time ❤️Fae prince MMC and a descendant of gods FMC
The author paints a vivid picture of the setting, making it easy to get lost in the world, and the minor characters add layers of enjoyment to the story. While the book could benefit from another round of editing to eliminate a few typos, this minor flaw does not detract significantly from the overall reading experience. This book is a fun and engaging read that will leave you eagerly anticipating the next installment. The compelling characters, well-crafted world, and themes of self-discovery and forbidden love make it a must-read for fans of fantasy romance.
I feel like I need to preface this with the fact that the story in itself has the potential to be 5 stars. What I absolutely loved is the connection between Sienna and Jasper. You can see even from their first meeting, without knowing the details of their connection that they are meant to be together. The villain was exactly what you expected them to be. Cold and harsh with our FMC. The plot just felt a bit lacking in intensity and the point where everyone returns feels a bit pointless. Lucas is a sweetheart and I cannot wait to read his story and Raven’s next. The storyline was a bit too fast paced IMO, I felt like I had no time to recover from an event that the next one was coming. The spice was good I will give it 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Looking forward to the next books.
I was lucky enough to read this one as an ARC! Katie is the sweetest and I love that she is turning this standalone into a series. This was a cute romantasy that I couldn’t put down. Our FMC is a girl after my own heart who never stops trying to do good in the world. The MMC is the prince of the fae and he’s about to turn her world upside down…for the better. Anything worth having is worth fighting for and boy do they fight for each other! I encourage anyone to give this a read!
Before I begin I want to thank the author, Katie Ubele, for giving me this ARC.
This was a fun and short read with the right amount of spice and plot. Sometimes it was a bit too fast paced for me. I liked the characters and the way they were written. If you're looking for an easy read with an interesting plot you should read this.
The pacing was all over the place for me and I often found myself tripping over the words on the page. The story was also a bit inconsistent in my opinion.. there were parts where a lot of details were provided but were not necessary, and then there were other pieces of lore that were completely skipped over.
Overall, it was an easy read and a nice story with an appropriate amount of spice!
i personally am not a high fantasy kind of gal but wanted to give this book a full chance. i felt as if every other pages was predictable and there were so many scenes that felt forced/didn’t flow. if you enjoy fantasy you may love this so take my rating w a grain of salt.
I received a free copy of this book from Katie Ubele as a part of her ARC team. What follows is my honest opinion and review.
I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it. Katie’s plot is fantastic, but it is severely rushed. There is so much depth to the story she is telling, and it could have easily been drawn out into multiple, longer form, novels. This is book 1 of a 4 part series, but the plot Threads of Flame and Starlight itself could’ve stretched across all four of the books.
The relationship between Sienna and Jasper felt extremely rushed, and could’ve been a great opportunity for a more drawn out enemies to lovers trope.
I also have to say I did not exactly love how Sienna was boasted about as a hero when she didn’t really do…..anything? Jasper and his family did 99% of the work, Sienna just happened to find the poison that her grandmother conveniently gave her after also, very conveniently, demanding that she stay on this “dangerous” fae island for long stretches of time with little to no training? Every solution was handled to Sienna on a silver platter, and then she was hoisted onto the platform and dubbed the savior of magic.
