Rich in detail, deeply insightful, and sensitive to the complexity of the DeBarge family's triumphs and tribulations, Bunny details the definitive story of the DeBarge family and the world that made them. As told through her eyes, The Kept Ones: Volume I, goes far beyond music. Bunny DeBarge perfectly conveys and weaves her soulful history as the lone female in the 80's Motown family super group, DeBarge; from their spectacular rise to the top of R & B music royalty, their fall from grace, to their reemerging careers.

Amazing story of a family who came from Hell and made a powerful destiny for themselves. I saw people were disappointed with where this first volume ends, but I like the idea of splitting an autobiography in different volumes; it allowed Bunny to explore her childhood and adolescence, but to her early adulthood before fame, more thoroughly. I hope the second volume will not be a longer wait from now since this book came out in 2014. Worth the read.
This book was very interesting and had the potential to be great but the grammatical errors made reading a little bothersome. And the ending although it was something of a cliffhanger was too unambiguous. I hope there is a Part II to this amazing story and that it well edited. Kudos to Bunny for sharing her truth!
I was disappointed in this book. It ended just as Bunny moves to LA. I wanted to read more about their time as Debarge, not her childhood. Don’t buy if you are want to know more about the group.
Dragged a little bit but provided so much about this talented family that explains their actions through the decades. I found myself sympathetic to every traumatic situation they’ve been in. I pray someday they all can heal from their past because it’s never too late.
This was as a great book. I know it was hard to write and share with the world though. Bunny and her brothers really went through a lot. And still managed to keep faith in God
I read this book in an day! The DeBarge children’s childhood and the trauma they endured is so heartbreaking. I hope the surviving siblings and their mother are in therapy.
