Duane and Sette reach her cousin's city but must first tangle with the kidnappers and their mercenary spellcaster. Meanwhile one of their captives, young Jivi, makes a break for it on his own.
There are no words to express how amazing this story is. Well, maybe just a few. Action. Adventure. Affection. What more could you possibly want? This will sure melt and break your heart, sometimes simultaneously.
This series really steps it up a notch in this set of chapters. The wright battles, some of the best illustrations yet, a converging of all of the characters paths, etc this was very exciting and from here I would say I am pretty hooked
I have to say I didn't expect so much from this comic, but luckily I gave it a chance, and I'm so happy I did! The first book was really good, not even close to the second but it did hook me to it and I jus fell in love and now when I've read the second part I am so amazed. The plot is really good, the art is fantastic with so much details and the characters and their relationships are just so well done, you rarely see it being this good. If I really have to complain, I have to say the dialogues were a bit too long for me and it kind of got a bit boring at times and the author could have shortened the down a bit. But it's not the biggest thing, really, and since I read it from my phone it wasn't the same experience as it would've been if I had the actual comic and different people have different tastes.
I got this book as a PDF as part of the Unsounded Volume 3 Kickstarter, and I have to say, this series of graphic novels is hands-down one of my favourite comics ever. Excellent drawings, very nice story. Plus, you can read it for free (and legally) online at the Unsounded Website.
Ashley Cope manages to break my heart and also pull me into her lovely fantasy world. I love the story, even though it is very tough to handle in some places.
My friends got me involved in this story, and I am SO glad they did!
The artwork is astounding - and the story is so compelling and so gripping it's immediately accessible. You feel like you're in the world Ashley Cope has created, and despite the fear and dangers, it's someplace you want to be. Her characters are well-drawn, each an extraordinary individual -- you can love them, fear them, and hate them all at once. Ms. Cope is quite adept and bending the viewpoint so you can simultaneously feel sympathy for all sides in the equation (and, at this point in the story, it's getting very hard to see who is right, who is wrong, and whether in fact there even is a right or wrong!).
This is a graphic novel born from a web comic - definitely worth reading weekly, if you can stand the cliffhangers! Truly extraordinary work.
And the great reread continues! It's so very fascinating to see information about the conflict between Cresce and Alderode trickling in, and all through hearsay from the characters. It's little details like that (and anything relating to the First Silver) that slip your mind after you've been reading this comic a page at a time for so many years.
Anyway, Duane and Sette are continuing their journey West, and Funniest Guy Around Mathis Quigley has finally taken the stage. God, I love Quigs so much. He's so goddamn funny.
Can't wait to continue on with this reread~ One of the most important chapters ever is up next~
I know it looks very anime at the beginning. I know both leads are different styles of the most annoying person you've ever met in your life. I know it's a webcomic.
You need to read this book. You need to read this book for a lot of reasons, chiefly the way that every character is a distinct, complicated and realistic reflection of a real kind of person. Unsounded will make you appreciate character voice in a way that few other properties will. In a just world this would occupy Watchmen's position as the graphic novel that non-graphic-novel-people (such as myself) know through cultural osmosis.
