Andrasta, Celtic goddess of victory, has fled the cold, sterile wasteland of Otherworld for the steamy South American jungle. It's only a matter of time before the vengeful gods catch and punish her - unless she can convince the man she betrayed two thousand years ago to help…
And only her enemy can save her
Born in Otherworld to the life of a god, Camulos went rogue centuries ago. He's living on the banks of the Amazon, boxing in bare-knuckled fights. The gods believe he's dead - until Ana finds him. Ana, the woman who gave him nothing but trouble, and the woman he could never forget…
Even the gods have secrets
Thrown together, Ana and Cam must evade the wrath of the gods and a return to the living death of Otherworld. But as they flee through the jungle - and as their passion ignites - they find themselves at the heart of an ancient secret. One that could kill them both and extinguish their souls forever...

Before becoming a writer, Linsey was an archaeologist who studied shipwrecks in all kinds of water, from the tropics to muddy rivers (and she has a distinct preference for one over the other). After a decade of tromping around in search of old bits of stuff, she settled down to start penning her own adventure novels and is freaking delighted that people seem to like them. Since life is better with a little (or a lot of) magic, she writes urban fantasy and paranormal romance.

Talk about a convoluted yet enjoyable ride. Ana, the Celtic Goddess of War and Victory, hates being in the Otherworld and has always done all she can to escape it’s unemotional walls even if only for a few hours. Now she’s reached her limit and wants out, for good, and the only one that she believes can help her is Camulous, the very male who put her in that position. And while I’d love to go further into explaining that one, I won’t. In part because it would be too much of a spoiler and the other because you really do need to read this and experience the whole WTF/convoluted/twisted yet well written and thought out clusterf*ck that is Ana’s and Cam’s relationship.
I’ve loved Ana since reading Soulceress. Her open acceptance of who Esha was and their tight friendship was the start, but her vivacious nature and just open joy of everything she experienced, while still being a kickass Goddess, made her a fun character to get to know and in this book she is that and more. Camulous was fun and sexy. When we met him I thought he was going to be an uber alpha gruff ass, but while he was uber alpha and somewhat gruff, he is so not an ass. He tries his best to be, but fails. Ana and Cam’s relationship, as I said, is quite convoluted but as we learn about their past in flashbacks, which were done quite well, and watch them dance around each other and try to not to be attracted to each you find that they fit quite well together.
Though I have said that Ana and Cam’s relationship is just a bit of a clusterf*ck, the writing of it was done very well and not only did I enjoy their backstory, but that of the Celtic Gods and how they came to be as they are.
Overall: I’m really enjoying this series and looking forward to seeing what comes next.
The world building was a little weird in this one. While I liked the story and the past events that built slowly through the flashbacks, it seemed like a whole host of extra mythological creatures and lore were added in, but they were just always part of the world and were never mentioned before. Shifters are suddenly commonplace (I read this straight after book two, there were none in there) and now we have dryads and nymphs and demigods and whatever else out of the blue. And for someone who was so concerned about her family and brothers, Ana literally does nothing to help them. It also followed pretty much the exact same romance pattern as the last one, except these were second chance lovers. Still a great story though, and I love how it focuses around Celtic mythology, which I can't say I've come across much at all.
Okay, this is the third book in the Mythean Arcana series by Linsey Hall. Book 1 was great. Book 2 was good. But this one... this one was effing awesome! This is by far my favorite book of the series. It looks like she has at least one more planned and I simply cannot wait to read it! But I'm getting off point... let me tell you why you HAVE to start reading this series and, eventually, this book!
Ana is the goddess of victory. When I heard that, I thought she'd be this brusque warrior woman and I was not enthused. She's mentioned in Book 1 but has more of a presence in Book 2. So I was a little familiar with her at the start of this book. And she is straight awesome! She's actually very sweet and kind. But the thing I loved the most about her is that she's naturally a cheery person. Now, I don't mean that irritating kind of cherry, with the "Come on, guys! Let's turn those frown upside down!" or anything like that. She's very curious and interested in the things and people around her. And she tries to put a positive spin on things. I just loved reading her. She's actually not the original deity for war and victory, in this story. She sort of stumbled into it at no fault of her own. And she doesn't really like being a god. She actually hates being in Otherworld, which is where the gods live. She sneaks out as often as she can but she could be punished severely if she's caught. So after being a god for over 2000 years, she's had enough. She's come here to find a way to get out of being a god. But I don't want to say anything else about her story. It's not really a spoiler or anything but I really enjoyed learning about her and her story from her perspective.
Cam, or Camulous the former god of war, was an awesome hero! He's described as a big, muscular man...with red hair. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the image of Carrot Top out of my head! Lmao! Finally, I was able to exorcise that idea and subbed in a darker blonde image of Chris Hemsworth! Phew, crisis averted! Anyway, thousands of years ago, when Cam was a god, he was an arrogant, emotionless bastard. These days, he's a little less arrogant and a little less emotionless but he's not necessarily likeable right from the start. But as the story progresses and as he lets Ana in a little more, he becomes more and more likeable. He isn't a bad person; he's just a little gruff and doesn't have much to say. But he's such a bad-ass! Even in the scenes from the past, where he's still a god, he's not particularly nice but you can't help but root for him to be nicer and to be able to feel something! One thing I didn't love about him was his guilt. He feels awful about what happened to Ana and he blames himself. But I didn't really understand why he felt SO MUCH guilt. I guess as the story progressed and as I learned more about Cam and his history, I could understand a little better why he felt the way he did. At first though, it was really confusing.
I love Ana and Cam together! He doesn't want her around at first (on account of his guilty feelings), but she won't be dissuaded. It was fun to watch her sort of wear him down with her optimism. Well, maybe not optimism...more just her ability to want to keep going and to make the best of whatever situation she's in. Plus, they were really hot together! They have history - history that neither of them are too keen to re-enact- but they can't deny the pull between them. The Sexy Time is super steamy and it's kind of smoldering under the surface the whole time.
I would totally recommend this book to fans of paranormal romance. Especially anyone like me who loves stories about gods and immortals. I don't think its absolutely necessary to read Books 1 and 2 first. But I think I liked Ana so much because I saw her in Book 2 working so hard for her friend, Esha. Also, lots of characters from Books 1 and 2 make an appearance in this book. Now, here, they're minor characters so not knowing them wouldn't affect anyone's enjoyment of this book. But don't we like to have the full picture? I do. So in an ideal situation, these books would be read in order. If not, then maybe pick up Book 2 before reading this one. But this book was so good that if you wanted to only read this, I'd say go for it! I loved this book and can't wait for the next one!
This is a good addition to the series with great characters and an interesting story line. Although it wasn't the best book in the series it was still pretty good.
The main characters are Andrasta and Camulos; Andrasta leaves the otherworld to try and find a way to get out for good. Instead she finds Camulos, a guy who used to be close to her, training her to use her bow when she was only a child and then later a romantic attraction between them. The two get together and it leads to some steamy scenes, although they have their troubles both as a couple and as individuals.
There are some secondary characters but I think they will get books of their own if they haven't already done so.
The storyline is pretty good although it's not hugely original and doesn't differ much from the previous books in the series. The pacing is OK leaving it to the last minute to tell us the outcome of the couple.
The Underworld of the Celtic Gods is a cold, emotionless place. Once they freely roamed the Earth, taking their pleasures and exercising their powers with wild abandon. However, now they are confined to their Underworld, tied by their own laws and living in a state of cold perfection. For one who had once been mortal, the world of the Gods feels more like a prison and after two thousand years of such imprisonment, Ana, Celtic Goddess of War, is willing to risk everything to escape it and return to the world of the mortals. In order to do so, though, she has to enlist the help of the very man whose life she took to attain Godhood.
Cam had been the God of War until she slew him with his own arrow. For two thousand years she has believed him dead and mourned him, until the day she feels a stirring in her that tells her he is alive. Cam has no reason to help her escape her Godhood, and by all rights, he should hate her. But Ana had woken something in him all those centuries ago, and clearly there is unfinished business between them. Danger and betrayal hounds their every step, and in order for a new beginning to happen, they will have to reach back into history to unravel a mystery.
Rogue Soul is a story of two souls bound together in a way that neither can understand. Circumstances forced both into a position that neither wished and the consequences were life-changing. And it seems that again, circumstances out of their control are going to force them into life and death decisions. Although both are in denial of their love, their passion for each other burns hotter and hotter.
The author does a masterful job of taking the reader on the journey with Ana and Cam, leaving small hints and way-markers the path. Rogue Soul is a tale of love, raging passion, suspense and treachery between two gods who ultimately are simply a man and a woman struggling to find each other.

I've really taken to this series with it's mixture of Celtic deities, magic and romance and have to admit that the character of Ana Goddess of War is one of my favourites. She didn't start out as a Goddess though and achieved that unique position by murdering Cam the previous God of War with the one thing that could kill him, an arrow of his own making . Now she has discovered that Cam didn't completely die and instead has been hiding out whilst magically hidden in the mortal realm. Ana wants nothing more than to be human again and live in the sun but her fellow Gods and Goddesses have other ideas and want her to remain in the Underworld. For over two thousand years Cam has lived amongst the humans and now the woman who ended his previous life wants his help. What is a guy to do? Ana tried to kill him and now it seems she wants him to do the same to her but Cam isn't the same man he once was and has come a long way in two thousand yeas. There's unfinished business between them of that there is no doubt but treachery is riding fast on their heels. Once decisions were clear cut and easy but time has changed this couple and as they struggle to elude the dangerous forces hunting for them they learn so much more about each other . Ok now I'm going to be frank and say the idea of a romance between this couple does seem preposterous. Ana killed Cam! That is the bottom line after all but this author sneakily has fabulous twists and turns that she employs to make it a believable romance. I suppose the danger and adversity they face forces them both to reassess just what it is they want from life. At first Ana just wanted to escape permanently from the Underworld but as their journey continues it's clear that nothing worth having is ever going to be simple. So the author did a fabulous job of making what at first seems crazy well not crazy! A passionate tale of love and redemption but most of all a story of two people who need each other. This series is not over yet though so I expect yet another explosive story is on the cards. I was gifted a copy of this in exchange for an honest review
Linsey Hall's Mythean Arcana series has officially filled my book void. I stumbled upon Lindsey Hall last month. Having read the first in this series I was compelled to follow up! Good Stuff right here!!
Lets just say that when loves excruciating caress does find you the future that unfolds just maybe less happy ever after and more...regret?
Rogue Soul is a rollercoaster of a read. With stolen fates and Gods on the run. you could not ask for a more eventful book.
Andrasta's story is one of death and renewal. 2 thousand years after she haphazardly switched places with Camulos in order to take his place as a Celtic god she wants a refund! Life as a Celtic god is unfeeling and Andrasta didn't know feelings would be something she would miss until it was too late. She just needed another skilled archer to take her place and she can live the good life on Earth.
Camulos the freed Celtic god shot down by Andrasta's aim, was living quite the dream in the amazon. He would be the perfect replacement for her! Little did she know she wasn't seeing the picture quite as clear. Andrasta had no idea that other Celtic gods played important roles in pushing Camulos out and they don't want him back.
Their journey is one of old and new. I loved the back story of Camulos and Andrasta the way back story... (wink) you'll know it when you get there. The fact that they have been dancing around one another for longer than Andrasta's lifetime was a fantastic spin I didn't see coming. The way Linsey Hall built this story up was just a work of art. With this story comes a spark of love that changes the Gods twice... First without knowledge then again with purpose.
God of War breaks free of Otherworld by making another take his place. Ana, new Goddess of War, finds Can old God of War to help her break free of Otherworld. Only gave it three stars because first half of book was basically each one feeling guilty then they would have mind blowing sex and it would start all over again. Real story line didn't get started until half way thru book. First part was just too repetitious. Last part of book redeemed it enough for me to want to read book 4. Warning: sex scene's are graphic. If that offends you, this book is not for you.

Rogue Soul is Linsey Hall's third book in the Mythean Arcana paranormal romance series. If you love gods and demigods, then you'll want to read this book. The story had quite a bit of chopping and changing. Chapters often took the reader into the past, then back into the present, and then back into the past again. More
Awesome!! To date I've now read the first three books in this series. This book I was able to read through Kindle Unlimited. This book is a paranormal, romance, action, suspense, intrigue filled book that delves into the ancient gods, myths etc. Therefore, this book covers a lot of ground but is not dry or boring. This book is about Cam (the God of war) and Ana, who took his place as a God. Now it may sound confusing here but by reading the book you'll clearly understand. Cam and Ana have a history and have strong feelings for one another from the moment they met (surprise there is a reason for this). Anyway, Ana is a determined young woman with 7 warrior brothers. She feels on the outside and wants to be a warrior but the guys don't think she can do it. Well she's one of the best with a bow & arrow - as good as Cam. When Cam falls from godhood and Ana takes his place they are separated for 2,000 years. There are other magical beings in this book but the author describes each character so they are real people that you can relate to. That's the reason I enjoy these books so much. Yes I like paranormal romances but this series adds the mythical, human as well as their strengths and weaknesses. This as the other books is a stand alone but I'm glad I'm able to read them in order. I look forward to future books by Ms Hall who is a talented writer.
Eher 4,5 Sterne.
I am absolutely loving each and everyone of the books in The Mythean Arcana and this one doesn’t disappoint. Andrasta (Ana) is The Celtic Goddess of Victory and Camulos (Cam) was the Celtic God of War. A very complicated duo. Complicated by the fact that Ana killed Cam and took his Godhood to save her brothers. This moving and action packed story will thrill you but also have your heartbreaking. Love the story, characters but actually everything Linsey writes.
Okay, I read straight through lunch. This book is a delight. Gods, goddesses, demi-god, witches, a Druidess and many more. Action, adventure Otherworld, the Amazon and Scotland. I really enjoyed it and now must read more. The Characters are engaging and the plot NOT the norm.
This entire series is very enjoyable. The world building is well thought out and full of depth. The characters are engaging and the storyline is fast paced. Highly recommend this book.
Wonderful mythical love story full of Celtic gods and imagination. Deceit and bitterness tore them apart but love and truth brought them back together. Learn the story of Ana and Cam.
The ending saved this book for me. The last quarter of the book was better i dont know why but i seemed to get frustrated with it up until then. Loved the catch up with past characters too and the ending was fun.
This is the third book in the wonderfully brilliant The Mythean Arcana series. It is filled with danger and intrigue, unravelling beautifully before your eyes, and revealing it’s secrets of both the past and present in this astoundingly marvellous story of passion, mystery and an ancient jealousy that can destroy the world and the gods themselves. I adore this series so much.
Opening Scene:
The Caipors’s Den Edge of the Amazon River, Brazil Present Day
Andrasta, Celtic goddess of victory, swallowed hard, her eyes transfixed on the man in the makeshift boxing ring.
The Review:
Andrasta, Celtic Goddess of Victory wants out of the cold desolate world of Otherworld. A place where the Celtic gods and goddesses live. A place of no joy or laughter. A place she does not belong or wish to be. But to escape she must find Camulos the Celtic God of War. The god she betrayed two thousand years ago, and took his place. Now all she has to do is convince him not to kill her, but help her escape. Born a god in Otherworld, Camulos went rogue centuries ago and has been living out his life boxing in bare-knuckled fights in the Amazon, and working in the pharmaceutical industry. Life’s good, the gods think he’s dead, until Ana walks back into his life. The one woman who brings him nothing but trouble, the same woman he could never forget. Fleeing for their lives they find their passion for each other reigniting. Together they must evade the wrath of the gods and a return to the living death of Otherworld. But secrets of the past are haunting them. Secrets that could kill them both and destroy their very souls.
Notable Scene:
“Camulos,” Ana said. She glanced dismissively at the sultry woman now trying to swallow his tongue. “Cam,” he said absentmindedly as he drew his face away from the woman’s to look at Ana. His brows shot up, his gray eyes widening the barest fraction. A scar sliced through one of the brows. “Recognize me?” she asked, absorbing the fact that he no longer went by Camulos. “Andrasta,” he rasped, shock plain on his face. Did she hear his breath catch? Hers certainly did. He looked every inch the god he’d once been-strong and powerful, with broad shoulders and big arms that looked like they’d been cut from steel. A man comfortable with the mantle of worship, even if he no longer carried it. Ana shot a pointed glance at the woman. “Luciana,” he said, drawing the woman’s mouth away from where it had suctioned onto his neck. Ana’s eyes zeroed in on the huge hand that cupped the back of Luciana’s neck, then looked back to realize that he’d kept his gaze trained on her own face. “You need to go,” Camulos said to Luciana. Luciana pouted at him, then turned to look at Ana. “A goddess?” her brows shot high. She no doubt noticed the small glow emitting from Ana’s skin and marked her as one from Otherworld. Her lips twisted in a sneer. “I thought you Celtic gods never left your cold realm.” She’d be right, Ana thought bitterly. Cold and emotionless, that was Otherworld, and she was trapped there except for a few times a year when she could sneak out without the other gods noticing. But that’s what she wanted to change.

Another all-consuming story by Linsey Hall. I am loving The Mythean Arcana series and can't wait to see where it goes next. When Andrasta, Celtic Goddess of Victory, feels the stirring of her long, thought-to-be dead love, Camulos, the former God of War, she hotfoots it to the Amazon jungle to search for him. She's had enough of being a goddess in the emotionally deprived Otherworld. Unfortunately, it is not something one is allowed to escape from, and the chase will soon be on, with the other gods intent on dragging her back to the Otherworld where a horrible punishment awaits. The reuniting of Ana and Cam was a treat and, as their back story came out, I was delighted with the "Aha" moments I experienced. Unfortunately for Ana, for her to escape from the Otherworld, she has to kill someone to take her place, and the only someone qualified for the job is Cam. From the jungles of the Amazon to the Immortal University in Edinburgh, we follow Ana and Cam on a journey that leads us to a mystery of immense proportions. With the help of some old friends I was happy to see from the two previous books, the mystery eventually starts to unravel after many a twist. It becomes clear a diabolical plot has been in play for thousands of years, and it's going to take a lot of help to put an end to it and reach a HEA for our couple, if indeed that can even happen under these circumstances. Rogue Soul is an extremely well-written, smooth flowing story, that is stand alone, but, for your enjoyment, I would read it as a series, because you sure don't want to miss the first two. By producing a riveting series where each is substantially different from the previous one, Linsey Hall has created a world you need to turn off your phone for, lock the door on the kids, and simply fall into until the end. I am not ashamed to say I scarfed up Ana and Cam's story like it was cherry cheesecake, pigging out on the whole thing. However, just like cheesecake, I am distraught that I have to wait for the next one.
