USA TODAY bestselling author Stephanie Bond was seven years deep into a systems engineering career and pursuing an MBA at night when an instructor remarked that she had a flair for writing and suggested that she submit to academic journals. But Stephanie, a voracious reader, was only interested in writing fiction–more specifically, romantic fiction.

Upon completing her master’s degree and with no formal training in writing (her undergraduate degree is in computer programming), she started writing a romance novel in her spare time. Two years later in 1995 she sold her first manuscript, a romantic comedy, to Harlequin Books.

In 1997, with ten sales under her belt to two publishers, Stephanie left her corporate job to write women’s romantic fiction full-time. In 2011,

Stephanie launched a self-publishing business. Since that time, she has sold more than 1 million copies of her own books. To-date, Stephanie has published over 70 novels and has over 6 million copies of her work in worldwide distribution in numerous languages and formats.

Another great beginning of a new series for me by a familiar author. The first 6-parter I read by Bond was “Elevator Girl.” The second was “Coma Girl” and the third was Graveyard Girl.” All three were fantastic and I’m glad I started with “Elevator Girl,” because it gave me a good taste for Stephanie Bond’s works.

This first Bourbon Girl book is the introduction into the life of Bernadette Waters and how she relates to being a bourbon girl. Bernadette - no nickname for her - lost her mother to cancer not too long ago. Bernadette’s mom had mental health issues and often moved so Bernadette never got the chance to make close connections with people of her own age, or anyone’s age for that matter. All of her life Bernadette took care of her mother and was more the mother than her actual mom.

Just before her mother died she gave Bernadette one clue about the father Bernadette never knew. She told her that her father worked in the bourbon industry in Kentucky. That’s all.

Bernadette is now alone in the world after her mom’s passing and is in search of her dad. She hops in her mom’s old beat up clunker of a van and hits the road to the two-thousand miles away Kentucky where she will work as a tour guide for various bourbon distilleries throughout Kentucky. She is looking for her father.

She gets a lead on one man who is potentially her dad. That’s where we end this read.

What will she do once she finds him though? Will he want anything to do with her? Is he actually still alive? Is he still working with bourbon?

Stay tuned…

The Bourbon Trail

Stephanie Bond has another great read in Bourbon Girl, it draws you in from the first page. Bernadette is a grief stricken young woman struggling to find her last living relative in the hills and back roads of Kentucky. Bernadette's mother on her deathbed gave her the biggest clue she ever heard about her father. So Bernadette packed up her meager belongings and drove to Kentucky where she was hired as a tour guide to a bunch of Bourbon Distilleries. She started questioning people who might have known her Mom almost thirty years ago. She also started reading up on Bourbon so she could be knowledgeable for her job. The more she read and started talking to people about bourbon the more interested she became and started enjoying her time as a guide. She also was finding people who remembered her Mom and men she might have dated.
I have read most of the books that Stephanie has written and each book has a cliff hanger at the end. This months is a real doozy!! You will be missing out on a great story if you don't read this series of the Bourbon Girl!!

Bernadette is 27 and is searching for her biological father. She has a general idea of where he might be so she travels there and ends up a tour guide for bourbon distilleries, knowing her father had something to do with bourbon making.

(Here's where I have a question. If she knew the name of her father and she knew his very general location then she could have done a search on the Internet. She probably had an idea of what age he was which would help narrow the search parameters somewhat. )

Anyhow she gets a job leading tourist buses on tours of bourbon-making places. She even leads a ghost tour once.

Then she meets a person who is involved with a detective agency.

Interesting start to a new series.

Excellent start to another great serial by Stephanie Bond. This 6-month series starts with an introduction to Bernadette Waters and, after the loss of her mother, she begins her quest to find her father. Set in a small Kentucky town where the connection to Bourbon is the reason Bernadette traveled from Arizona with her RV, settles in a small campground and begins her journey. We meet the cast of characters in book 1 that are becoming important to her…and you are invested in all of them and how they will impact her quest. Fantastic read…and now I have to wait for book 2…August can’t get here fast enough!

Daily serial about Bernadette who is searching for her father

Bourbon Girl is a daily serial about Bernadette who recently lost her mother and is in Kentucky trying to find her biological father who she has very little information about. She is living in an old RV at a campground and is figuring things out as she goes. She has a job as a tour guide for a bourbon distillery tour. There is a little bit everyday to the story and it unfolds between July and December. This is book 1 for the month of July. It is enjoyable and off to a good start. #BourbonGirl

I started reading this because I’m very intrigued by the concept. It’s a serialized story, where each day’s chapter is on her website, but this full novella is for anyone who wants to read the month’s chapters all at once. This will run through December!

I love that every day I could read something that was going on in the main character’s life, just as I was experiencing life on the same day! I also loved that it’s set in Kentucky since that’s where I live hehe.

I’m excited for August’s story!

Stephanie does it again!!

Once more Stephanie Bond introduces us to a serial heroine. Just like the Saturday afternoon serials that always left me waiting for the next installment, she has me hanging from my literary fingernails waiting for the next chapter. Should I hate her or canonized her for this production?? I cannot decide as I wait fervently for episode two of BOURBON GIRL.

Love this!

I have read every six part series she has written and really enjoyed them. They are always lovely with a likable main female character who just needs a little luck to become who she was meant to be. Each part of the series always leaves me waiting for the next segment. Its honestly a fun read.

A beautiful journey into the land of bourbon.

Bernadette's story intrigues me as she looks for her father. I also was my mother's caregiver and i understand the challenges. I took care of both my parents and I can't imagine not knowing my dad. I get more and more excited as she gets more clues towards bringing him.

I am really enjoying this series. As someone who is on the hunt for her bio dad, it validates the feelings that go along with it. It has me invested in the characters and so hopeful for her. Even more, I am a newlywed and my husband loves Bourbon and we took a road trip to Kentucky earlier this year to visit some of these distilleries. For all those reasons I feel so connected to the book.

I’ve been reading the (6-month long) daily serial books that Stephanie Bond writes for 10 years. One a year from July 1-December 31. They’re all very different.

This one about Kentucky bourbon 🥃 is getting interesting. It started a bit slow for me. I’ve been distracted this summer-fall so it’s on me, not the writing.

Possibly Stephanie Bond's Best Serial Yet

Over the years, I have read every serial that Stephanie Bond has written and I've enjoyed them all. However, the first installment of this one has captured me more than any of the others.

Ms. bond has a deft way with words that make her

Novels pleasant reading. Maggie was like "A bundle of clothes hangers that talked".

Bernedette is the lost young woman who is seeking... They are all seeking something. But end up finding community and love.

This book is okay, but there isn't much action if that is what you're looking for. Or suspense. We get to know the main character, and there seem to be some hints of some character growth to come. The descriptions are great, and the supporting cast is well written.
