#1 New York Times, #1 USA Today, and #1 Wall Street Journal bestselling author Helen Hardt's passion for the written word began with the books her mother read to her at bedtime. She wrote her first story at age six and hasn’t stopped since. In addition to being an award winning author of contemporary and historical romance and erotica, she’s a mother, an attorney, a black belt in Taekwondo, a grammar geek, an appreciator of fine red wine, and a lover of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. She writes from her home in Colorado, where she lives with her family.
I listened to Healed Heart on audio, the follow-up to Broken Dream by Helen Hardt, which you do need to read before starting this book. Once again, I enjoyed the narration by Sean Masters and Isabelle Turner, with the dual POV helping to blend the story together nicely.
This book includes elements of dark romance, mystery, and a mafia-style storyline, which come together to make for an easy and engaging listen. The first book ended on a cliffhanger, and this story picks up immediately where it left off. While I enjoyed the pace and storyline of the first book, I did find this one a bit predictable once Ronnie Burgundy was introduced (the author must love Anchorman with all the anecdotes!).
I like how Hardt has written these books as a standalone duology while still including nods to her other works. Although this is part four in a larger series, it can be read without having read the earlier books, though I’d be interested in going back to read the first two to learn more about the rest of the family. If you’re a fan of insta-love and forbidden romance, this will be one for you.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5-Star Review: Healed Heart by Helen Hardt (Audiobook)
Healed Heart completely pulled me in and didn’t let go. This audiobook was emotional, intense, and beautifully done, making it an easy 5-star listen for me.
The romance is filled with passion, tension, and genuine emotion, and I loved how the story balanced the steamy moments with deeper themes of trust, healing, and vulnerability. Angie and Jason’s connection felt powerful and heartfelt, and their journey kept me fully invested from start to finish.
The narration truly elevated the experience, the dual narrators brought the characters to life and made every emotional beat hit even harder. The pacing was strong, the suspense kept things interesting, and the emotional payoff was incredibly satisfying.
If you enjoy emotionally charged romance audiobooks with great narration and a story that stays with you long after it ends, Healed Heart is an absolute must-listen. 💖🎧
"How do you make sense of loving someone more when you swore you already loved another with everything you had? How do you let go of guilt when happiness feels like a betrayal?"
Healed Heart: Steel Legends, Book 4 by Helen Hardt Duel Narrated by Isabelle Turner and Sean Masters
The conclusion to Dr. Jason Lansing and Angie Simpson's forbidden romance and what happens to Jason in the major cliffhanger from book 3, Broken Dream. I did not read books 1 & 2 of Steel Legends, and I don't feel as though I missed anything by reading book two and this book. I am curious about what they were about, so I will need to look into those now.
What you will find in this book:
- Multiple POV - Duel Narration - Insta-Love - Famous Rich Family - Forbidden Romance - Professor X Student - Open Door Spice - Sabotage - Blackmail - Secrets - Grief: Tragic loss of family - Strong Family Ties - Stalker - Narcissist vs Sociopath, both?
This was a whirlwind of information, lies, deception, and revelations. Up until the last chapter, the last 30 minutes of the audiobook had me on the edge of my seat, wondering what would happen. Like the previous book, it has open door spice, so for those who loved it, yup, it's going on. What bothered me was the absence of a character who seemed like he would be more important, and he just fell off, but he was a side character, so I suppose it's not really a huge deal. Overall, I was satisfied with the outcome of this story.
Thank you to NetGalley and Brilliance Publishing | Brilliance Audio for the ALC of this book in exchange for an honest review. The MVPs of this audiobook are the narrators.

As for Jason?
He wants answers. He wants vengeance.
And he’ll stop at nothing to get them.
This is definitely a must read! There was so much twists and turns. Literally the end of the book had me shaking my legs wondering what was going to happen next. Sean & Isabelle did amazing with the characters. They were able to bring warmth to the characters and follow their development perfect!
Thank you to NetGalley, Helen, Sean, Isabelle & Brilliance Publishing - Audiobooks for the ALC! I appreciate it!
I was so excited to dive into Healed Heart after that cliffhanger in the previous installment, and wow this book did not disappoint. From the very first chapter, I was hooked.
We pick up with the mystery surrounding Jason Lansing, and the tension is immediate. Who wrote the suicide note? What really happened? The suspense had me glued to my headphones, and I couldn’t stop listening until I had answers.
Helen Hardt weaves doubt through every character interaction just when you think you know who’s guilty, the story shifts and you’re second‑guessing everything. The pacing is sharp, the arcs are tight, and the intricacies of the plot are masterfully done.
Yes, there are spicy scenes, and they’re well‑written, but honestly? I was here for the suspense. The mystery was so compelling that I often skipped ahead because I had to know what happened next. That said, if you want romance with your thrillers, this book delivers both.
Why I Loved It - Cliffhanger resolution that pays off - Suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat - Characters woven into the mystery with depth and doubt - Narration that amplifies the tension and emotion
I’ll be recommending Healed Heart to anyone who loves romantic suspense, thrillers with emotional depth, or audiobooks that refuse to let you go.
Final Verdict: 5/5 — a complete masterpiece of suspense and storytelling.
Book 1 was so strong and I devoured it in a day. Book 2....we're sharing I love yous (and I mean passionate I love yous, let me carry your burdens, this is what I'm here for, this can't grow without belief in our love, I love yous....) in a week!!! Wait what???? If you like insta-love, this is hands down for you. I also struggled with Angie also suddenly having insight into handwriting analysis and interpretation. Her then also constantly questioning Jason. Did you not just say that this couldn't work without trust?? Her age showed quite a bit in this book compared to book 1. As a reader we already know "who dun-it" from the end of book 1 into the start of book 2. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not on the author's part, but I never felt like this was some mystery to be solved. The why, however, was definitely a question I needed answered. Was I happy about it? No, but it was provided nonetheless. The writing was still solid and there were no glaring plot holes, this just felt a bit dragged out with conflict where none needed to arise at times. I may go back and check out the earlier books in this series. These books do reference past story plots but enough information is given that you don't feel lost or like you are missing anything having not read the other books.
Well, I finished it, so there’s that at least. I didn’t enjoy this one just as much as the first. The ONLY reason I didn’t DNF this book was because I was invested in the murder/stalker subplot… And I think that speaks VOLUMES about this “romance”.
Everything about the MMC pissed me off. The way he continues to use Angie as his emotional dumpster was crazy. At no point does he show an ounce of actual affection for this woman. Piggybacking off my review of the first book, they STILL didn’t have a single heartfelt deep conversation. Like at all. It’s always him trauma dumping and fucking her and then leaving.
Angie wasn’t much better for allowing that sort of behavior, especially if she’s planning on going into psychiatry! His coping skills are non existent and she just continues to enable it.
I have no clue how this book has such good reviews because there was no romance in this duology. It took me forever to get through this because I actually dreaded having to continue to listen to their antics.
Like I said, the murder/stalker subplot was the only reason i gave this a GENEROUS 2 stars. I kinda knew where it was going, but wanted to see how it fleshed out. It was acceptable.
The narrators for this did a wonderful job with the slop they were given. Their performances were outstanding and I hope to hear them narrate better stories.

Rating: 4 star story / 5 star narration Format: Audiobook - Dual narration by Sean Masters and Isabelle Turner Series / Standalone: Interconnected Duet (Steel Legends, Book 4 - Book 2 in the duet) Tropes: Forbidden (Instructor/Student), Age Gap, Mystery/Suspense
Thanks to Brilliance Publishing, NetGalley, and the author for this gifted audiobook - all opinions are my own
I really liked how fluid this story became. We went from a hot and heavy spicy romance while learning of Jason's tragic backstory in book one to a romantic suspense that had me mesmerized. The mystery was great and lent an edgy feel to this one that I appreciated. I highly recommend this one if you like some "who-dun-it" vibes along with your spice.
I am so glad I experienced this in audio. These narrators were perfect for these characters and did an amazing job with the dual-style narration. The emotions were performed beautifully and added to the story for me.
***I did not read the first duet in this series and had no issue with the plot***
Healed Heart is the conclusion to Broken Dreams, Angie Simpson and Jason Lansing’s love story. Jason is trying to get on with his life after losing his wife and daughter as well as his ability to be a surgeon. Three years later he is still trying to live a normal life. Jason is now a teacher at the college Angie is attending and there is an instant attraction between the two. In true Steel fashion there are really bad guys causing trouble for our couple.
The Steel family is one of my all time favorite series that I’ve read more than once and even listened to on Audible. The Steel Legends is a great addition to this series. My heart broke for all the sadness Jason has been through. I really loved this couple in the beginning and enjoyed going with them on their HEA journey. The story was well written, hero and heroine were easy to like, secondary characters added much to the story and the author brought everything together quite nicely. I highly recommend Jason and Angie’s story.
🌟🌟🌟🌟 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧 🌶️🌶️🌶️Healed Heart is the conclusion to this part of the series, done in dual narration by Sean Masters and Isabella Turner, who once again delivered strong, emotional performances. While I did enjoy this one, I’ll be honest, I was a little disappointed that the whodunit aspect became a bit too obvious too early. I did still question things, especially thinking there might be a few other people involved, but the mystery didn’t hit quite as hard as I hoped.
That said, I really appreciated how this book handled grief and the different ways people process and survive it. And that unhinged twist? Yeah. Wow. That came out of nowhere and definitely helped balance out my frustrations.
Also, let’s be clear — the spice was still hot AF. Overall, it’s definitely worth a listen and a read.
Angie and Jason's conclusion kicked of where Broken Deam left off. Angie is ready to take a leap and go to Switzerland with Jason and find out where this attraction is headed. The twist and turns are shocking and had my anxiety through the roof. I love to try to guess the mysteries behind all of Helen's romantic suspense's and sometimes I'm on the point, this t8me she caught me a little off guard and I loved every minute of it.
In true Helen Hardt fashion she gives us the suspense, emotional roller-coaster ride and spice we all love. Angie & Jason were perfect for each other and brought out each other's strengths and through all the hurdles and emotions they grew stronger than ever.
I can wait for the next installment of the Steel Legends Series!
At the end of Broken Dream, Angie was prepared to tell Jason she'd accompany him to Switzerland for his experimental surgery. I was hoping to take that trip with them in Healed Heart. I love when the Steels who admittedly don't leave Colorado much travel internationally. Instead, I got the story/ end result anyone reading Broken Dream closely would predict. Foreshadowing is one thing. Connecting all of the dots in a book that is supposed to be a cliffhanger is another. I did get the initial nexus incorrect but pinned the correct person. I'd recommend this book only to confirm your suspicions if you've read Broken Dream and want to see if you correctly solved whodunit.

When you least expect it, peace will softly come into your heart...
How does one deal with devastating personal loss. Jason is adrift with emotions. There is just only so much one can endure. His bright spot is Angie. She loves him and is there for him for whatever he needs. She is patient as he tries to face his past and look towards the future, their future.
On top of all this, Jason is accused of a brutal crime. With his career and his future with Angie, I found myself caught up in the emotional turmoil. Another extraordinary story by Helen Hardt that has suspense, heartbreak and sorrow, but also hope.
Healed Heart is the next in the series of the Steel Family. This is the conclusion for Angel (Angie) Simpson. She is deep into medical school wanting to be a Psychiatrist like her Aunt Mel. Enter her professor Jason who is older then her and has had a lot of personal tragedy in his life. Loosing his young daughter and then his wife.
When life starts to get better and he is ready to move on with Angie all hell breaks loose. Such twists in the story as they navigate the truth together.
Can't wait to see who is up next in this most wonderful Steel Family series!!
Wow! Angie and Jason are really put through the wringer in this book, Jason in particular, by Ralph. They are standing by each other showing more support and love for each other than any couple should ever have to. So much intrigue, drama, suspense, as well as spicy scenes. You will be mad, happy, crying, confused.. all the things. Helen has done an incredible job drawing the reader into this book, as always! But definitely puts the characters and readers back together after blowing our minds. I’m hoping Henry get to tell his story next! Possibly with Tabitha.
Healed Heart is the conclusion to Jason and Angie's love story starts right off where Broken Dreams ended. This story continues to focus of the love story of Dr. Jason Lansing and Angela Simpson. Jason and Angie continue to navigate their new found love while having to over come several obstacles.
I don't want to give away too much of the story. Such an awesome book! I loved this book from beginning to end!
Helen Hardt again knocked it out of the park with this book!
The ending to Angie and Jason story is electrifying, suspenseful and keeps you guessing about who killed Jason’s wife and why. I love that we still get the Steel family through out the storyline of this new generation of characters. Jason and Angie are on fire in this book and as the mystery unfolds, they only get closer and more determined to find the truth. I highly recommend reading this book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you NetGalley for this arc. I really enjoyed this book. The entire story was filled with plot holes that kept me guessing on whether Jason was the one behind assault and battery. I loved how Angie was constantly in his corner and believed everything he said to her even though he looked very guilty in the process. I also loved how her brother was helpful in proving Jason’s innocence An overall beautiful story that I would definitely recommend.
This audiobook is the second installment of a duet. It's narrated by Sean Masters and Isabelle Turner . Sean Masters is absolutely brilliant as Dr. Jason Lansing. His mind is in turmoil suspecting his wife's death a few years ago was not by her own hand. Isabelle Turner is wonderful as medical student Angie and Jason's devoted girlfriend. Angie is determined to use all her resources and family name to help Jason solve this crime. This was the perfect ending to this great story.
Jason has suffered loss. Lost a wife and daughter. Now 3 years later he is rebuilding his life including his career. Just as he is about to have it all...life comes crashing down and trials befall him and his new love Angie. How will they unravel the trials and come out together! Read this book 4 of the steel legend series'. My enjoyment of these characters and their journey was beyond words.
OMG, THAT WAS A PRETTY INTENSE HAPPILY EVER AFTER. THE STORY LINE WAS SO BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN COULDN'T PUT THE BOOK DOWN. THE LOVE JASON AND ANGIE HAVE FOR EACH OTHER IS SO STRONG AND TRUE ALSO SAD KNOWING HEHAD A FAMILY BEFORE ANGIE. ENOUGH OF THE SPOILERS. THIS IS A MUST READ. THANK YOU HELEN FOR ANOTHER WONDERFUL STEEL STORY, YOU ARE THEBEST.

Helen has a way of writing so you can’t put a book down. I love that we are getting more of the Steel family. This pair had similarities to the original Steel Brothers saga. Mystery, romance, and let’s not forget the famous cliffhangers. I enjoyed getting to know Angie and Jason. Crossing fingers that maybe Henry and maybe Tabitha are next?!?!
As usual, Helen Hart has written a book full of fascinating characters, unbelievable plot, twist, and futures that are clouded and influenced by the past. I absolutely love this book and I pray to God this will not be the last one in the series of the steel Brothers. Beautifully and well written book.
I love Helen and the Steel legacies. This one wasn't as connected for me. It felt like two separate reads. The love felt stale at first and it seemed Angie didn't trust Jason, unless they were banging. I would have Lord another Dragon Locke book...LOL I enjoyed this, not my fave xoxo
This is a toss between, love, mystery and life's throw backs. I am so pleased with the outcome and pleasure of reading another book from Helen. She keeps me reading and with a person that's not good at reading, I've read almost everything she's written and loved and understood what I read
Dual narration - Sean Masters & Isabelle Turner Great narrators their performance was fantastic!
Picking up right where Broken Dream left off we step into the rest of Jason & Angie’s story. We get to see their conclusion and the story did not disappoint. Tension and suspense that will captivate you.
Overall, a satisfying conclusion to Jason and Angie’s story. I enjoyed this book.
This was a NetGalley audio and I really enjoyed it. The narrator was very good and the story was very good. I don’t feel like I missed too much by not reading books 1-3 first but I would recommend reading the others first if you are considering this book. Of course I love that the FMC’s name was Angie.
Another great read by my favorite author! Angie and Jason’s relationship is full of twists and turns complicated by a murder accusation. Definitely a five star read. Can’t wait to see what’s next in the Steel family.
Omg another AWESOME book by Helen Hardt. I could not put this book down. I'm in love with Angie and Jason's story. Actually i love all the Steele's stories. You won't regret reading any of the books.
This is the conclusion of Angie Simpson and Jason Lansing’s story and it didn’t disappoint! They are still experiencing some major obstacles, but come out the other side stronger and more in love! Such a good book! Highly recommended! Thank you Helen!
