USA Today Bestselling author, Bonnie Paulson focuses on the drive of sweet western romances and the heros who ride for justice and the love of their lives. Living with her own cowboy helps keep things real!
Some of her favorite authors are Robyn Carr, Liz Isaacson, and Linda Lael Miller!
Oh my...I am actually going to give this two ratings. The first as you can see is a three star, only because it did not set in with/or as a western novel. The book cover is deceiving and does not come close to portraying the character of Rosie or the western setting that it shows. But my second rating is 4 stars! The 4 star rating comes as the story was very well written. Bonnie has such a talent for story telling and is a true and gracious writer. I have read many of her books (Spurs and Lace series) which I LOVED, and I know that without a doubt I will be buying her next novel in this series. Bonnie is still one of my most favorite authors and I will continue to support her!
Romancing Redemption has been released with a new name called Broken Ranch.
Two sisters, daughters of an outlaw are struggling to get ahead with the older one, Rosie working while Sara Beth finishes high school. Rosie works in the local diner and meets Michael, a young cowboy that is heir to a big ranch in the area if his grandfather finds he has earned it. This is a sweet romance between this couple with a lot of things against them but they find a happy ending together when some unexpected thing happen to them both.
I've read many books from this author and have always been pleased. The worst part of this book is that it ends suddenly and to read the end you have to read the second in the series. Not my cup of tea and a waste of my time!
Sometimes books are free for a reason. I'm sure this one was free to get me into the series, but I found it lacking. The characters were not ones I found to be that interesting.
Obviously, I didn't care for this book. It has stuff in it that really oughtn't be written in a book. If you want to be depressed and read about twisted human beings who like to abuse women, then this is the book for you. Really, I don't think it's a book for anyone.
Rosie has to protect her little sister Sarah Beth from Madam. For five years, ever since their mother died and their good for nothing father dropped them at the Mare Ranch they have been nothing but slaves for Madam. Keeping the house clean and now at 17 Rosie is being told that they have to go! Her father has been arrested! Rosie doesn't even stop to think, but, slaps the older woman with as much as she can after offering to let them stay as long as she joins in with the other women in selling their bodies! Five years later and Rosie is doing the best she can for her and her sister who is now 17. Thankfully Rosie has made a good name for herself. One good thing came from her time at the ranch - she can clean like no one else! Only problem is, Phillip! Why he won't leave her alone she has no idea! He us constantly threatening to tell everyone of her past and calls her a whore, but, still keeps coming back no matter how many times she tells him no and she wasn't! Then there's Michael! Michael makes Rosie want to be more! Will Patrick ruin everything Rosie has been fighting for? Will Sarah Beth hate her for keeping things from her? Will the town turn her out? Will her father continue to be a dark cloud, even from the grave?
Pride or prejudice? In today’s world we face prejudices abounding on many fronts but the prejudice against Rosie and her sister is up close and personal. I immediately sympathized with Rosie’s and her sister’s plight. Devlyn Caracus was her outlaw father. Not many people in the small town of Colby were aware of the connection until Caracus was caught and died. A blackmailer was spreading the word about her background and soon she was being shunned. There was, however, a man who knew her and loved her anyway. Michael was a ranch hand who knew all the rumors about Rosie were mostly fabricated. He knew Rosie to be a good hardworking person who was also trying to support her younger sister. Throughout this story are many dramatic events and close calls but eventually Rosie and Michael got their HEA. It was a wild, tension filled and romantic ride and greatly entertaining. I can easily recommend this book.
Rosie and Sarah Beth have had it rough growing up! Illegitimate daughters of an infamous gang leader, reared in a brothel, and on their own since the ages of 17 and 12, respectively. Rosie works hard to provide necessities. She's secretly liked Michael for about 3 years. Phillip knew where she came from, and he's been terrorizing her daily, threatening to expose her secrets.
The plot was satisfactory, Rosie's character development was excellent, the pacing was adequate. It felt like the community had been developed in another series, along with her father's reputation. This book didn't answer all the questions it raised; for instance, what happened to the FBI agent and his mission? What are her plans at the end?
Stand alone HEA. At least for now.
Contains no sex scenes, no swear words, and violence (bullying, fist fight).
Rosie and Sara Beth came from humble beginnings, but never gave up or gave in to temptation. They moved out of a brothel where they were forced to clean and denied food. They got their own apartment and Rosie worked hard to keep her young sister in school. This was the story of a hard-working young lady who was accused of being less than she was by a sleazeball who wanted her for himself. Luckily, she met a couple of men who didn't care about her past and helped her to have a better life. One man hired her to clean his bank and the other wanted to love her and save her from the rumors and from her lineage. I hated the jerk who stalked and spread rumors about her and loved the ending where she and her sister were finally vindicated.
I borrowed and read this book through Kindle Unlimited.
This was a quick read. The book had my favorite dual POV. The main characters were very likable and the plot flowed. There were times though that I would have to re-read a section as I couldn't comprehend what the author was trying to convey. At first I thought the book was a historical western until sunblock and sunglasses were mentioned. I was a little confused about the people on the cover as well. Michael has some facial hair but the man on the cover doesn't. If you just want a fluff piece to read, then you may enjoy this. There was just something missing for me.
Great sweet romance about a young woman who has been down on her luck due to no fault of her own and the circumstances which left her and her young sister living in fear. Theere are still people trying to keep her down by blackmail but she's a fighter and finally has courage to speak with Michael a cowboy who has secretly wanted to connect with her too. This is their story and about how they both try to overcome issues linked teach of their family history and past holding them back
This was a moving story on two sisters who were forced to live in a brothel until their mother was murdered by their father and then they were forced to keep the house clean. At seventeen Rosa could not stand it any more and slapped the Matron and took her sister Sara Beth and moved to another town and school area. After time and meeting a nice man Michael Rourke they got better chance at living a great life and moving on. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
As with all Bonnie R Paulson reads, I enjoyed this book with it's sweet story about judgement and loyal support. I must admit though that it felt like I was reading a period piece even though cell phones were mentioned so it was a recent time frame. I think it was just the attitudes of the characters in the small town that were perhaps somewhat outdated. Still this did not in any way diminish my enjoyment of the book.
The whole premise of this story is two sisters, daughters of a prostitute and a gangster were sent to a bordello after their mother's passing and while there, they cleaned until old enough to become prostitutes themselves. When their gangster father is imprisoned, they were given the choice to leave or take up the profession of the house. They chose to leave. I didn't like the swearing throughout the book as far as I read.
Some people just don't seem to ever get a break, Rosie and little sister Sara Beth definitely fit that mold. Five years of hard work could finally pay off, except Phillip will not let them escape the past. Michael brings hope, but she is not worthy of the Rourke name. Can Rosie ever escape the Caracus curse!
This was a great story. It told of the Ross sisters, Rosie and Mary Beth. Their mother died and they were taken to the Ranch, a bordello. Rosie was older, she did the scrubbing and cleaning and tried to take care of her sister. The day came when they were blue to escape. You will enjoy this, a must read
What Rosie and Sara Beth have to survive through will break your heart. Michael has suffered in his own right, but not to the extreme of the girls. Seeing some of the people of town support and defend the sisters is as beautiful as Michael saying her DNA doesn't define Rosie's character ~
Intense storyline and great characters make this book hard to put down. But a sweet romance of two people with questionable pasts, but hard working todays, make this a romance to cherish.
Their dad is a gangster, their mom gone and they were left to live in a brothel. After running away life is hard and they have to keep their past hidden. She likes a man Michael but another man is out to ruin them. But good triumphs over evil in the end.
I really enjoyed this story about Rosie and Michael. A good strong story with characters have depth and strength. You can't help but love Rosie. I can't wait to read the rest!
I had to cease reading this book after chapter 4. I prefer reading Christian-based novels, and thought that was what I'd selected. Language, subject matter and direction of theme convinced me this read was more than I wanted.
I love books that touches the heart, and people who are willing to do the right thing, even if it makes life difficult for them. This book is a good read for young people.
This was a interesting book showing how judgemental people can be. It also showed that if you do what is right and be honest things will work out for you. I really enjoyed it.
This was a great story! It’s the first time I’ve read her, but won’t be the last. Her characters come to life, making them real. The plot was interesting and had a really wicked villain.
This book was okay. The story wasn't a bad story but somehow it seemed a little disjointed to me. It seemed like it could have been better with some editing.
I liked the story and the sisters. I will want to read the whole set in the series and the previous series for the back story of the people in the town.
