Kaska Pack #1

Alphy's Challenge

Rate this book
Fate has given Kodiak bear shifter Ralph “Alphy” Kaska a one-two punch. He is a Navy Seal on a mission when half his team is wiped out, and less than a week later, while still recovering from his injuries, he gets word his parents were killed and he is needed to take custody of his younger siblings. To add insult to injury, no alpha wants a shifter as powerful as Alphy in their territory, leaving him and his young siblings with no place to live.

Running out of options, Alphy makes arrangements to stay with their last known relative, a great-aunt whom he has never met. When he arrives in the Canadian woodlands, for the first time in his life his bear settles and he feels at home. His great-aunt, the last remaining member of a once thriving sleuth, offers for them to stay permanently and proclaims him alpha. Alphy accepts, but before he can put any future plans into motion, he comes across his mate and discovers a whole new challenge. So Alphy calls in his paranormal buddies, and together they try to build the new pack, and defend it.

After being diagnosed, twice, with cancer before the age of 35, I found my courage to go on in my faith as an Adventist. As a firm believer that The Bible is all about love, no matter race, creed or orientation, I believe in raising people up and inspiring them. No room for judgment or hate here!

I'm a stay-at-home mom caring for 3 kids and a houseful of pets and I'm thoroughly excited to push myself. My hope is that my tales express the joy I have for life, love, and family.

Taking custody of his younger siblings, Kodiak bear shifter, Alphy moves them to Canada and comes across his mate discovering a whole new challenge, so he calls in his buddies in this captivating erotic paranormal romance. I was completely caught up in the story from the very beginning and I have to say I have completely fell in love with the intriguing characters with their fascinating mix of personalities and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

OMG!!! I LOVE this book . Since it is book 1 there is a lot of "set-up", but that's a given. Ralph (aka Alphy) Kaska is an extra large Kodiak Bear who was in the special forces (of several branches of service) and who needs to care for his younger siblings because of their parents death.Gale Brooks is a full human whose mother became mated to Tom (an Elk shifter). Paul Brooks is her 16 year old gay brother. Tom treats his two human stepchildren like they are his own. However, the herd alpha is homophobic and all around nasty, underhanded bully.Alphy takes his siblings to Canada to live with his Aunt Betty on the old sleuth's land. Gale's family is fleeing because the herd alpha (Alpha David) had his enforcers beat Paul and is out to eliminate the family.Alphy meets Gale - MATE! He decides that he will have a mixed pack rather than try to start up a sleuth of bears and invites his military friends to join the Kaska Pack and fight Alpha David. So we now have a pack with a gay vampire whose twin is a doctor, two wolves, an anaconda, a lion and a falcon. I had to make a list with that many new main characters to keep track of ! There is plenty of action, lots of lovin' and the camaraderie is believable. Try it, bet that you will like it a lot. HEA of course.

Kaska Pack

This was a quick fun read despite some of the serious content. Who wouldn't love a big bear of an Alpha and a brave human woman. I liked Alphy and Gale. These story introduced a lot of characters that should get their own stories

I do have a few reservations: there is light bondage (not mentioned), and some themes of dominance. I will see how it plays out. Decent writing.

While I enjoyed the story, I was not fond of the wording. The sentences were short and blunt, leaving little detail and choppy phrasing. I am not a fan of corny relationships or story lines, and unfortunately the story had both. The characters referred to each other as “Poopsy” and “Honey-Bear” and the mention of bear words while in the throes of passion, den and honey-pot for example, was not my cup of tea. The writing felt immature, but the premise of the story had promise and I would love to see the author developed over time.
