** DEBBIE'S 4 STAR REVIEW **

Let me start off by saying if you are looking for a book filled with lots of angst and sexual tension with a whole lot of flirting this is a must read.

The book grabs you right away and I had a hard time putting it down.

Roan Anders is a sports agent for some of the world’s top extreme athletes. He is also your typical womanizing man-whore who sleeps with everyone. After a bad experience with a woman a few years ago believes the whole relationship things is not for him and is happy just playing the field until Jessica Baker walks into his life. Jessica or as Roan calls her Goldilocks is smart and she knows what she wants and she wants Roan. She also refuses to take any of Roan’s crap.

“Jessica Baker, the one woman who may succeed in driving me insane.”

The sexual tension between these two could light up a Christmas tree. Hold on to your hats because you are in for a ride. The book is filled with drama and miscommunication. I was screaming at my kindle a few times for them to get their heads out of their asses and go for it. The banter between these two was fantastic.

“Did Roan seriously kiss my boo-boo away?”

“I don’t want to know about any of your past flames, Locks. I’m going to kill any guy who’s ever touched you. You’re mine now.”

Mason is Roan’s closes friend and Mason’s fiancé Casey is Jess’s best friend. Roan and Jess’s lives are intertwined because of that and that is one issue that has the two of them guarded and trying to fight the desire and want they feel towards each other. They don’t want to make their friends have to choose if it didn’t work out for them.

“Jessica was a relationship type of girl, and I was a notch-on-the-bedpost type of guy. We would never work and most likely destroy a few friendships in our wake.”

One thing I loved about this book was Jess. She was not only smart but was realistic and even though she had her heart guarded she was willing to take a chance. She came from a very wealthy family but she left that life behind in order to be herself. She doesn’t let her family or others dictate how she should run her life.

“Maybe there was no perfect wave, only the illusion of one. Reality will come crashing around you- a reminder that fairy tales rarely come true.”

Be prepared because Roan Anders is like no other. When he decides he wants something he goes balls to the wall to get it and takes no prisoners. There was some steamy panty melting scenes and Roan sure knew how to worm his way into Jess’s heart.

“You are my personal sunrise, Locks. Everything shines brighter when I’m with you.”

“You are the sun, the sand, and the sea all wrapped up in one perfect package just for me. I love you Locks”

5.5 Amazing Stars

I was given this book for my honest review

The authors first book is the Wall of Trust and the characters do make an appearance in this stand alone book.

Roan- smart, arrogant and a hottie a man of the world, surfer

Jessica (Goldilocks)-feisty, smart the all around girl, sexy guarded

Jaxon-cute, funny and the wanna be

Mason and Casey-from the Wall of Trust

“My mind was consumed by the image of a wick that had been lit and was blazing towards detonation.” Jessica

“You are my personal sunrise, Locks. Everything shines brighter when I am with you.” Roan to Jessica

Please keep the above quotes in your mind when reading this complex but yet compelling read.

Jessica is the girl next door that has dreams of becoming worldly in her own right. She is defiant in ways of the heart when it comes to her family. However, she knows that family will always stick by you no matter what you decide what is right or wrong. She longs for that perfect guy but not just any guy she wants a guy that will spark when her flame is lit and will not settle for anything less. Does she find her spark?

Roan never once wanted to find love. He was happy being the man whore that he has been for most of his life until that one night when the darkness turned into fireworks he never knew existed. Having no previous knowledge of what the fireworks meant he only knew that this one woman lit him up inside like no other with just a touch. Can this be real? Can one woman with the blazing touch be the one he has searched for without knowing his entire life for? Can she be his Perfect Wave on dark and dreary days? Can she be the one that can put the past at bay and squash his demons that he carries with him? Only you picking up this book will be able to get the answers to these questions and more.

As a couple Roan and Goldilocks fit together perfectly in manners of which neither are accustom to. But is this just a fantasy that they both knew that would end before it even had a chance to begin? Or does this couple truly get the happily ever after that they both have been searching for but never thought existed? Does the hotter than hot sex that combusts between them fizzle out and die?

To the author you have taken this reviewer to another place and time yet again and left smiles upon smiles on my face. Taking two totally different people, combining them with sparks, blazing upon blazing heat to the extreme like no other. This was one blazing hot read that will fizzle in us all for a long time to come.

To the readers of this review: If you’re looking for the Perfect Wave for the summer than let me tell you something you have found it within these pages of this amazing read.

3.5 to 4 Stars, rounding up.

I really liked Wall of Trust by A.J. Prior, which involved Mason and Casey, so I was looking forward to what she would do next. The Perfect Wave is a standalone about Roan and Jessica, Mason and Casey's best friends. You do not need to read the first book, though I did personally enjoy seeing Mason and Casey pop up here and there. The Perfect Wave is a complete story in itself.

Here we have Jessica, daughter of wealthy parents including a mother with high and specific expectations, who has goo-goo eyes for Roan, hunky player with a past and commitment issues. Superficially, these two are beautiful, financial stable, and have friends who have their backs. But beneath the surface, they have much deeper waters. Roan has no trouble getting women into bed, but when faced with Jessica's attraction to him and an increasing chemistry between them, he doesn't want to chance their mutual friendships with a hook-up. And he's certainly not looking for commitment. So instead, an adorable friendship between them starts. But where friendship begins, an unstoppable chemistry and sexual tension ends one way or the other.

I really enjoyed the friendship aspect of this story. I liked how essentially Jessica and Roan were forced to build that friend foundation because Roan was so adamant about avoiding anything else. I think it set them up really well for the future, because in the future a whole lot of stuff comes up and happens that is not easy to handle. To say Roan does some stupid stuff would be an understatement. The boy truly annoyed me at times. And he has quite the history with women that any gal serious about him would have to overcome. But he can also be pretty darn great, so though Jessica has to be a true trooper to handle it all, the chemistry and tenderness between them is palpable. There is lots going on, for Roan and Jessica individually and mutually, bringing quite the edge to this story and an intensity that kept my pages flipping.

Which comes back to why I liked so much the friendship aspect of this story. Without it I don't think a relationship between the two of them would be realistic. But with that foundation, I could even forgive Roan for being such a doofus and/or douche at times. I could see how Jessica saw past Roan's past. And I could see how Jessica could learn to deal with her family issues. Plus, Mason and Casey are such wonderful friends through everything. And let's not forget Jaxon, who I hope gets his own story. So all-in-all this was a really enjoyable read, with a great balance of sweetness and sexiness, friendship and romance, drama and suspense, and love and forgiveness.

Jessica Baker and Roan Anders This is their story.
Jessica’s best friend Casey is getting married to Mason. Roan’s best mate Mason is getting married to Casey.

This is how Jessica’s and Roan’s world collide.

Jessica is an author who loves life. Independent, carefree and loving.

Roan is a sports agent. Hot, sexy, devilish, and a player.

They both are very attracted to each other. They are drawn to each other. They have spark. They have a connection. Jessica wears her heart on her sleeve never hiding the fact that she has feelings for Roan. Roan knows it and feels the same way, but something keeps him from getting too close. What are the secrets that holds Roan back?

The Perfect Wave is a roller coaster of emotions. Love, despair, secrets. Hurt, lust, sex. Then add to that a psycho ex, an over bearing mother, and a sex video, you will be left guessing till the end. At the beginning we found this book a little slow, but after reading it, we called it delayed gratification. We learnt that all good things come to those who wait (or read)!! We would recommend this book to put on your TBR list and rate it 7 out of 10.

A wonderfully written book of real love and heartache.
Roan a surfer and ladies man wanted what he didn't think he could have Jessica (aka. Locks)
Jessica beautiful blonde and nearly picture perfect secretly did want Roan. Both afraid of their feelings for one another they decide to become friends. Will their friendship be ruined through their impeccable chemistry and jealousy for one another? Can Jessica get past the whorish ways of Roan and being the lady's man that he is? Can Jessica overcome her wealth that was handed to her on a silver platter and just settle for her surfer boy. A fabulous read. I will definitely be reading more from A.J.

***I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review***

This book started from the point of view of Roan, the male lead character in this book. I thought that was different as usually the books I have read start with the females lead point of view. Right off the bat it starts with Roan admiring Jessica on the beach. Even though in his head he seems to really like her, how he talks to her is completely different. This was cool to see because it gives the reader insight right away as to how Roan felt about Jessica and how he actually treats her. The book switches to Jessica’s point of view as well and we can see, she is going through the same thing. She has feelings for Roan but will not let him see that so she remains hostile towards him.

Roan is a surfer (as well as a top sports agent). Jessica asks Roan to teach her how to surf. Through this, they stop being hostile towards one another and become friends. Roan is a playboy and since he does not want Jessica to know he actually likes her, he keeps up his playboy image when she is around.

Jessica is convinced Roan really only wants her as a friend and nothing else. So she tries to be just that and attempts to date someone else. This bothers Roan and the story starts to shift to Roan and Jessica becoming more than friends.

As they open their hearts to one another, Jessica starts to wonder if she can trust Roan as his past playboy lifestyle starts to threaten their relationship. Evidence surfaces that could destroy the relationship that took so long to build.

The different points of view gave it more depth because the characters often thought one thing but would say something different. Because of this, the reader knew exactly what was going on even when the characters didn’t. A character would be reacting one way to a situation and I would be yelling NOOOOO! Knowing that I knew more than the character.

I really liked this book! There was a lot of angst between the two main characters but also with the reader because as mentioned, we knew some things that the characters didn’t know. There is a incident where we don’t know all the details so the reader goes through the same emotions as Jessica because this time, we really are not sure how this situation is going to play out. Having an insight into the thoughts from both main characters enhanced the experience of the story.

*copy of book provided by the author in return for an honest review*

Need a book that is heavy with sexual tension, then The Perfect Wave is just for you. Here's my take on this fantastic read.

My Likes:

* It's a fast paced, well written read with no boring parts.
* A group of very likeable characters. Jess is a Southern girl who is from a very wealthy family, establishing a life of her own in California. Roan is a sports agent and a guy who is known to be a 'player' and is afraid of commitment until Jess walks into his life. Both of them are attracted to each other but are constantly fighting off the instinct to give into those feelings.
* The secondary characters Mason and Casey, who are the main characters behind AJ Pryor's other novel Wall of Trust. I liked these characters in their story and even thought their appearances are brief this time around they were as equally likeable as I remembered them.
* Great sexual tension between Jess and Roan. It breaks at exactly the right moment without leaving you hanging too long.
* There isn't a lot of romance bet there are some very steamy sex scenes.
* The title is great considering Roan, and Jess's relationship begins to bloom when he give her surfing lessons.

My Dislikes:

* I only have the one dislike. To me it was a little predictable, and I felt this lessened the punch of the climax.

Overall, another fun read from AJ Pryor. You do not need to have read Wall of Trust, which also includes these characters to understand this book. However, as I have, I felt it to be of a benefit to know the back story of how these characters met.

A fun and fast read - 4 stars!

being an IT person originally from southern california and now living in texas, this book had great appeal for me.

jessica was a strong, very likeable character even being a very rich kid. i like that she stood up for herself with her mother and went after what she wanted. while she really liked roan and wanted a relationship with him, she was able to be friends with him and not a clingy, whiny girl we usually read about.

i didn't like that roan made jessica think he was sleeping with all those women after he met her because he was trying to hide his attraction to her. i did love his career and that he was not an unmovtivated surfer like i've read about in other books. he ended up being a really sweet, loving guy. i love his relationship with his brother.

i liked the writing in this book as well as the alternate POV's that were clearly indicated. the supporting characters were great...i'd like to read more about them. especially jaxon and blake!

I read the first book by this author and really liked it. It's obvious that AJ Pryor just gets better with experience. The Perfect Wave sweeps you up immediately. There's no waiting around for something to happen. The book is action packed from the beginning, and I was caught up in the story and with the characters immediately. Keep going AJ, I can't wait for the next one!

What I liked best about Roan and Casey is that they are vulnerable, just like most of us. The anxiety set up by the author kept me reading and because A.J, Pryor spent time developing Roan and Casey's characters, I cared what happened to them. Good plot, good tension and a good flow to the story made this a good read.

Jessica Baker is just like any other female when it comes to Roan Anders: she wants him. But he constantly rejects her. Because of his rejection, she starts to ignore him and try to avoid him altogether. That changes when one day he asks if she’s got a new dish to try on him. Jess agrees to cook for him under one condition: he teaches her to surf. Thus begins the start of their friendship. As they grow closer, they develop feelings but neither wants to acknowledge them for fear of being hurt. Roan has a secret that he’s only told one person, his best friend. When that secret catches up with him, will Jess stay with him or will he loose her forever?

I love that Jess is a strong independent woman. She’s rich beyond belief but she doesn’t flaunt it or use it to get what she wants. Jess does her own thing regardless of her mother’s wishes. I enjoyed watching her grow throughout the book.

Roan is incredible. He works hard but he plays hard too. I enjoyed reading not only from Jessica’s point of view, but from Roan’s as well. You learn a lot about why he hides his feelings about Jessica and what those feelings mean to him. He had a very rough childhood but he doesn’t let it bring him down or make him bitter. While Jessica does grow throughout the book, Roan grows much more. I think having him grow more than Jess was a great move on the author’s part and worked well with the story.

The only problem I have is that Roan’s ex-girlfriend is just thrown into the story without much information about what happened between them until the end. You don’t learn why she goes crazy or how she finds out that Roan is in town (he takes a trip to Fiji where she lives but for business, and it’s like pop, here she is.). I would have liked to see more backstory to help better understand Roan.

All in all it was a very good read, and in fact I bought the other book in this series, Wall of Trust, to read in my spare time. I hope you pick up a copy today and fall in love with Roan!

Tammy's 5 Bare Naked Stars ***** Review

I really enjoyed The Perfect Wave. A perfect combination of love, friendship, and second chances.

Roan was a sexy surfer and sports agent. Boy was he sexy! Every girl wanted him. But his broken family turned him off from marriage.

Jessica is the girl next door but comes from Texas oil tycoon money. They have always tried to control her so she moved out to California to escape them. She wanted to make her own choices and live her life by her rules.

Jessica and Roan met when their best friends started dating and became engaged. There was always sexual tension between them both. But they were too afraid of messing up their friendship. Then after a lot hurt and time they decided to give it a try.

Jessica was very concerned because of Roan’s playboy ways. Could he be tamed and be with only her? Was he ready for fall in love with her and be her once in a lifetime?

Roan’s ugly past came back to haunt him. Will Jessica be able to forgive him and move forward as a couple or will she end it for good?

I felt the dual viewpoints really helped me understand what they each were thinking and feeling. It really added to the story and made me fall even in more love with them both.

“You are my personal sunrise, Locks. Everything shines brighter when I am with you.”

I LOVED their nicknames for each other Surfer Boy and Goldilocks. So cute and perfect!

“Come on Surfer Boy, let’s go ride this epic wave of life together”

I really enjoyed the ending and would love to see their story continued in future books. I want to go back and read Wall of Trust.

A J Pryor is an incredible author. Looking forward to reading more of her work.

I really enjoyed AJ Pryor's first book, Wall Of Trust, and found The Perfect Wave to be even better. The build of heat and tension between the main characters really was the 'perfect wave' - I was hooked from the beginning and didn't want to put it down. It's fun, sexy and intriguing at the same time. The characters are likable particularly because of their vulnerabilities and past "flaws". It makes them seem real, and you will find yourself drawn-in to hope/see how their relationship will develop. Enjoy!
