The mountain was meant to be my refuge—a quiet place to breathe, to let down my guard, to finally be me. But then he shows up. The man I’ve been secretly crushing on. The one I’ve watched from afar, convinced he could never feel the same. Now he’s here, and the silence I once craved is filled with stolen glances, lingering touches, and the kind of laughter that feels like home. I bought this land on the mountain to be alone. But maybe what I needed… was him.

Yes, I "only" read the BETA version of the book, but after giving my feedback, I'm well aware of changes or no changes. So with this knowledge, I give my full opinion of this book.
OK, I need to go into writing review mode... I hope it will work 🤞 Because I'm still so sucked up from this wonderful story 😍
First, this book is kind of a prequel, but I wouldn't suggest reading it as that. It's the story of Kira (Spinning Out Of Control) and Dean's (Everywhere You Look) dads. Sure, that would say read it first, but the last chapter gives a few spoilers about the endings of the other two books.
Sure, I always prefer full novels, and so I'm sad this one is just a novella, but Jay and Keith definitely have a whirlwind love at first sight kind of love story 😎 These two are so cute 🩷 I already loved Pops and IronDad in all the other books (yes, they appeared a while ago already). But the younger versions are even cuter 🥰 They have a chemistry that's not to describe in a review. They are just so perfectly made for each other. And the knowledge that they are still the same 30 years later... 😍😍😍
Jumping back into the 90th was definitely fun. And yes, being gay back then, especially as an athlete, wasn't easy. It still isn't 😖 I'll never understand the problem with it. In general, I'll never understand why it matters what someone's 🌽 life looks like. Do people really not have any other problems??? I'm drifting away from my review 🙈 Aaah f-it... Just read the book!! And all of Emily's other books.
Thanks to the author for trusting me with a BETA 🩷
