She saves lives with steady hands. He takes them with deadly precision.

In the war-torn jungles of Corazón, Dr. Lauren Valentino runs a field hospital under siege—treating the wounded, protecting the innocent, and risking everything to hold the line. Knowing the danger is getting critical, Lauren’s family sends Citadel Solutions security expert Logan Kane to get her out.

One doctor should be no problem for a battled-hardened Marine who specializes in impossible missions—even when the mission doesn’t want to be rescued and a hurricane is closing in.

They clash instantly.
The heat between them? Instant too.

When communication is cut off and killers close in, Lauren and Logan are forced into the jungle. The storm’s not the only thing hunting them. Survival means moving fast and finding some way of trusting each other.

In a world where death is always only one step behind, love might be the risk that breaks them both.

Or saves them.

Just like the first book, this one pulled me in right from the start. Dominic Pierce’s writing is super engaging, and one of my favorite things about it is how he handles the action scenes, they’re sharp, intense, and you can totally tell he knows what he’s talking about. That ex-military background really shines through and makes everything feel so real!

Lauren is such a great character, strong, driven, and full of heart. Her determination to help others, even when she’s stuck in the middle of nowhere with literally nothing, was inspiring. I was really rooting for her the whole time!
And Logan? Loved him too. He’s layered and solid, and I enjoyed every scene he was in. I do wish we’d gotten a bit more about his past and how he’s dealing with PTSD, it was touched on, but I think there was room to go deeper. Still, he’s a great match for Lauren, and together they’re just 🔥.

Speaking of which, the romance totally worked for me. The chemistry is off the charts, but it doesn’t feel rushed or forced, just a genuine, slow-burn connection that felt earned and real.

Overall, this was such a fun, gripping read with a perfect mix of action, heart, and romance!

The second book in the Citadel Solution series.i love Logan first of all. But he’s a tough guy on a mission. Do the mission, and on to the next. This mission is a little more complicated then he and his team expects. When they go to Corazon the doctors are very dedicated, and one in particular Dr. Lauren Valentino. When he sees her he can’t take his eyes off of her. They are in the middle of cartel territory, and things are getting bad. One cartel leader has show much interest in the good doctor. Logan’s team tells her they have a week at best to clear things, and they will be taking them away from here. She’s not ready to do that. It’s just not safe. In fact the main cartel leader makes it known right in front of Lauren what he’s capable of. Logan will do anything to protect her along with his team. They will not let anyone get hurt on their watch.
At one point sparks fly between Logan and Lauren, but Logan is not the man Lauren needs. He sees what one act of trying to save her has done. The only thing he can do is leave, and once she’s safe he will be onto his next mission.

It was heartbreaking and heartwarming. Logan with PTSD was trying to do the right thing. But after trying to do that it turns around on him. He learns something he regrets, and now must fix. His team might have told him one thing, but he tells them he must do this.

So much more to come. I highly recommend and the first book. Amazing like this was. I can not wait for more that’s for sure. Thank you Mr. Pierce for another excellent book.

One of my favorite scenes is with a little girl. She will surely steal your heart too.

I'm blown away once again because I loved DUTY DEVOTED just as much as the previous book. This time the action ramped up as the Citadel Solutions team, led by Logan, must rescue a group of doctors in a war-torn jungle while dodging cartel soldiers and an approaching hurricane. This kind of romantic suspense is my favorite because I love seeing the characters overcome what seem like impossible odds. The story jumped right into the action but one thing I loved was that we got to see our characters after the rescue mission ended. I really enjoyed the realness of seeing Lauren struggle after her ordeal and work through that experience because it made everything feel more authentic.

Just like book 1, I appreciated how smart and competent these characters were. We'd already met Logan in DUTY UNBOUND but I loved this deeper dive into his character. He was gruff, rough around the edges, and deeply affected by his PTSD from a prior deployment. His POV chapters were written so well and his experience handled with such care and respect. He wasn't magically cured after meeting Lauren but it was obvious how much it meant for him to have someone who could understand what he was going through and saw him as more than just a weapon. Logan wasn't a perfect hero but he was real and raw and honest.

Logan might be the hero that got Lauren out of the jungle but Lauren was no damsel in distress. A dedicated and devoted doctor, Lauren was strong and determined and I loved her fire and spirit. She never backed down and fought for what she knew was right. I also adored the way Logan supported Lauren and the way he loved her strength. These two butted heads at first but they had great chemistry and just enough ups and downs in their relationship to keep things interesting.

Outside of the main couple, I've also really enjoyed the brotherhood of the Citadel Solutions team, especially Ty. I liked his character in book 1 but he was even better in this one. I loved the found family aspects, the teasing and banter, and the tough love when Logan was messing things up. I'm really looking forward to more by this author!

Content Warning: on page PTSD and flashbacks; cartel violence

This author continues to blow me away with his spectacular writing.Witty character interaction and smoking couples.

The danger is real as Logan and Lauren run for their lives through perilous conditions.

“Beauty and brilliance are a rare combination. Especially when paired with such…spirit.”

This is one adventure you don’t want to miss. I’m already chomping at the bit for the next book in this series. He may be a new to this world but don’t let that fool you. He’s already on my auto list.

This book is so fantastic, I couldn’t put it down until I finished. This author writes so well, the words just flow in a way that I felt like I was experiencing everything. Logan and Lauren were great together. Can he keep her safe? They are trying to escape the cartel, one member is obsessed with her. I was shocked at the plot towards the end. What a twist. Also, there was some heartbreak and I really felt for Lauren as she’s trying to deal with what’s happened. I really loved their happy ever after and the epilogue was so great. Loved getting a bonus epilogue that lets us know how the next book will be. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I highly recommend this book.

Logan and Lauren

FMC: Lauren Valentino
MMC: Logan Kane
Spice: 🌶️🌶️
Pages: 328
Tropes: Romantic Suspense, Military Romance, Enemies to Lovers, Forced Proximity, On the Run, PTSD, Medical Romance
Setting: Corazon; Chicago, IL

Thoughts: This was an extremely exciting read. There was a lot of action and suspense. There was a trek through the jungle. And there was a deranged cartel lord at the heart of everything. Logan and Lauren clashed at their first meeting, then spent days battling the cartel and a hurricane to get to safety. Their time alone together gave them a chance to really get to know each other and they found themselves opening up about things they normally wouldn’t have. But Logan’s demons ran deep. He needed time and help to wrap his head around his feelings for Lauren. There were points where I really hated his actions, but in the end he became the man Lauren needed most. I really enjoyed the adventure of this book and coupled with the romance between Lauren and Logan it had me devouring every word. After the glimpse into Ty’s book, I cannot wait for more from this series.

I ADORE military romantic suspense stories, so when I saw social media posts about a new author, I had to check out his book.

The first book (Duty Unbound) was good, but I have to say Duty Devoted was brilliant!! Although It is book 2 of the Citadel Solutions series, it can easily be read as a standalone, tbh I personally think it’s a great introduction to the authors writing style, which I have to say is outstanding!

The story grabbed me from chapter 1, I love stories that capture my imagination from the get go and this one certainly did, the writing style makes you feel like you’re in the jungle, the sounds, smells and humidity, this story soon turns into a fast pace action-packed adventure, it was nice to see a strong female character, Lauren had her work cut out for her trying to keep up with Logan but she did plus more! Logan was the perfect protector and together they face a race against the local cartel and extreme weather, just when you think it’s over the author throws in some more suspense.

I loved the epilogue….and the bonus one, this series is beginning to feel like a special set of characters and storylines, in fact Lauren and Logan were so good together that I could easily read more from them, I don’t think I’d ever tire of this couple.

Highly recommend

Brilliant continuation of the series

A fast paced action packed book with a kind, dedicated doctor doing her best in challenging circumstances and a guilt ridden veteran with severe PTSD. Lauren was such a brilliant character a perfect combination of stubborn, feisty and caring going above and beyond for everyone. Logan was doing his best to avoid all triggers by constantly taking the most dangerous missions and continuing to believe he was too broken to deserve a better life. Totally loved this book and the superb jungle descriptions.

A stellar sophomore book!

Duty Devoted

In this second entry from new writer Dominic Pierce, we find Citadel Solutions has been hired to retrieve a team of NGO Doctors from the middle of a cartel-controlled jungle in a hurricane. Just another day for our guys!

As usual in protector romance genre, things go sideways and our hero and heroine are separated from the team. As they race through the jungle, they have to avoid cartel soldiers and survive a hurricane.

Logan has his demons from his service days. Lauren has a micro-focus on helping people in third world countries. She has seen the worst the world has to offer, but doesn’t want to believe it can happen to her. When the son of the head of the cartel starts to obsess over her she brushes it off and thinks by saying “no thank you” that will end it. Um, not quite. Logan has also seen the worst the world has to offer and always prepares for the worst scenarios, knowing the worst WILL happen to him.

When the two of them have to go on the run thru jungle and swamp to get to their next extraction point, both of them learn things about each other and themselves that change their views.

Not going to give the details as to events that cause this learning curve ‘cause I want you to have the same “what the h e 🏒🏒 just happened” and “he did NOT just write that” moments that I had. Dominic Pierce has written an amazing story and has carried thru with the success of his first book in the Citadel Solutions series. He is an amazing writer and reading his books you feel like you can immerse yourself in the world he has created. His characters feel real, have depth and you want to be in their family.

This is only his second book and I hope he has at least 50 more!!! 15/10 recommend.

Terrific second book in this series. The action and tension started on the first page and kept me turning the pages to the end. From the action to the setting, the descriptions are so vivid I felt almost as if I were there. Dual first-person POV from Lauren and Logan gives insight into their actions and feelings.

Doctor Lauren Valentino works for a medical outreach program, currently in the jungle of Corazón. She is highly skilled, works exceptionally well under the most challenging circumstances, and cares deeply for her patients. The story opened with an example of the conditions she works under, and I couldn't help but root for a successful outcome. We also learn that political unrest and expanding cartel activities are making conditions more dangerous. Lauren's wealthy parents pester her frequently to return to Chicago, where she "belongs."

Former Marine Logan is the second-in-command at Citadel Solutions. He is professional, protective, and experienced. When Lauren's parents hire Citadel Solutions to extract Lauren and her team from danger, he prepares for the worst.

When Logan and his team arrive, disguised as a weather research team, Lauren immediately takes exception to the plan. Logan wants to leave within a week, while she insists it will take at least a month to safeguard her patients. Matters become complicated when the cartel leader's son becomes obsessed with Lauren. She thinks politely telling him "not interested" will be the end of it, while Logan sees the danger. When the cartel leader gets involved, Lauren finally realizes the peril of her situation. Their departure suddenly becomes critical.

I was glued to the pages as Logan and Lauren fight for their lives. Lauren's refusal to desert a patient in need leaves her and Logan on their own to escape the cartel. Not only must they evade those out to stop them, they must also fight Mother Nature, as a hurricane makes landfall. They must learn to trust each other if they are going to escape. I enjoyed watching their connection grow as they relied on each other. I loved seeing how Logan appreciated Lauren's strength and resilience, which only added to his attraction for her. Lauren's understanding of Logan's PTSD is something he doesn't expect.

Just when I thought everything would work out for them, Logan allows his fears to push Lauren away. I ached for Lauren because it brought back her insecurities. Each runs from the memories of what they had as they try to convince themselves that the other is better off without them. I loved seeing Logan's friends attempt to get through to him. However, it is an unexpected twist that reveals to each of them what they almost threw away. The conclusion was an intense, nail-biting event. The teamwork was outstanding, and I loved Lauren's actions. The two epilogues were fantastic, especially seeing what is in store for their future.

The secondary characters were terrific. I loved the chance to get to know the team members, Tyler and Jace. Their respect for each other is evident in every interaction, while light-hearted teasing does a great job of breaking the tension. My favorite was young Elena, one of the villagers. Her presence of mind and determination to help Lauren were incredible.

Citadel Solutions: Duty Devoted Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️

Dominic Pierce is back with the second book in his Citadel Solutions Series and when I tell you this book reminded me of the edge of the seat action movies I used to watch growing up I’m not kidding. From the first page I knew this book was going to put a chokehold on me and it absolutely did. I couldn’t put it down once I started it (with the exception of being an adult and having to work lol 😂) and even lost some sleep it was so good. Lauren is an amazing doctor that truly loves helping people in some of the worst conditions. Lauren is a brilliant, kind, loving woman who cares for her patients, her life is definitely a far cry from what her family wants for her. She truly loves rebelling against people that try to put her in a box. Logan lives for the most dangerous missions Citadel Solutions can’t send him on. Logan may have left the marine corps but the adrenaline rush and constant pressure of a mission still runs through his blood. His teammates all have things they struggle with but allow each man to deal with it themselves. Logan has no idea that fate is playing a huge role in his newest mission that could possibly rock him to the core. Lauren is aware that there are cartels around but that won’t stop her work, that is until an ugly twist of fate forces change. Logan and his team are to help get the doctors to safety but when an extremely caring doctor and an emergency situation develop nothing will be the same. Can Logan out run his past, while staying in the present? Will Lauren be able to silence the negative thoughts that run amok inside her mind and truly believe she’s seen and heard? Just when everything falls into place fate and PTSD rear their ugly heads. Logan will do everything to make the flashes stop, however he doesn’t understand he ran away from what makes all the flashes stop and his mind to quiet. Lauren tries to go back to life but everything feels wrong and as if she’s only existing not living. Well as fate would have it Logan is thrust back towards Lauren and he’s hoping it’s not too late. Logan will do anything and everything to keep Lauren safe however Lauren might have some opinions on that! When the past comes barreling back into the present can Logan and Lauren survive? Logan trusts the men he works with more than anything and this time he’s going to need them more than ever because what hangs in the balance is EVERYTHING! This book had be gripping my iPad so tightly and wanting to bite my nails. I could picture every moment inside my mind like a movie and thank goodness I didn’t have popcorn in certain moments otherwise I would have thrown it. Dominic has created an amazing, emotional, passionate, beautiful, action and trauma filled story of two people who deserve all the love and care they give to everyone else. I’m truly hooked on this series and can’t wait for the next one and what new men of Citadel Solutions we will meet! This book we met two more men Ben with Jolly (his Belgian malinios) and Andrew so I absolutely look forward to their stories at some point!

This protector romance is action packed. Doctor Lauren spends her time moving from one remote, poverty-stricken area to another providing much needed medical care to the locals. When her latest assignment in Corazon becomes a bit too unstable and dangerous, Logan and the Citadel Solutions team are sent in to evacuate the medical team and protect them from the local cartel. Dedicated to her patients, Lauren insists on staying long enough to make sure her patients are as prepared as they can be for their departure. She is unwilling to walk away from the people she has grown to care for. Unfortunately, local cartel criminals who control the region have become fixated on her. The clinic and its staff will become the cause for more violence against the locals if they remain.

Separated from the rest of the group, Lauren and Logan embark on a treacherous and exhausting trek through the jungle, facing a hurricane, predators and the cartel that is chasing after them. During their desperate flight, Lauren and Logan become close, both emotionally and physically. There is a deep connection between them that enables each of them to help the other continue on and overcome their own baggage.

After a successful extraction, Logan bolts...his PTSD spiral convinces him that he can never be worthy of Lauren. When the cartel rears its ugly head once again, he can't stay away. He will be the one to protect Lauren from those who wish to harm or control her.

Told from multiple points of view, this story moves at a brisk pace, with lots of action. The romance between two damaged souls both seeking purpose and acceptance is skillfully woven into the book. Logan's character is somewhat challenging to like at times - he keeps much of his past trauma and PTSD locked down tightly and his first instinct is to run when feelings begin to overwhelm him. Getting glimpses into his thought process is helpful in understanding the motivation behind some of his actions. He is a good man at heart, just wanting to help others and find his purpose. Lauren is admirable in her drive to save others, sometimes to her own detriment, even if she is a bit idealistic and naive. Despite the challenges both physical and emotional, the reader is rooting for their connection to stay strong.

Note: There are some explicit descriptions of violence that may trigger some readers.

Four stars for this suspenseful romance.

This is an honest voluntary review of an ARC of the story.

DUTY DEVOTED is the second instalment in Dominic Pierce’s contemporary, adult CITADEL SOLUTIONS romantic suspense series. This is security expert and former US Marine Logan Kane, and Dr. Lauren Valentino’s story line. DUTY DEVOTED can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Logan and Lauren) DUTY DEVOTED follows several members of Citadel Security as they are hired to extricate four American doctors from the Cartel controlled village near Corazon in Central America but a complicated villager’s pregnancy and birth kept Dr. Lauren Valentino from running, ensuring one of the Citadel men remained behind. Logan Kane knew it was a mistake to allow Dr Valentino to detour during their dangerous mission, and in doing so, our couple found themselves on the run, fighting for their lives through the jungles of Central America, with the Cartel hot on their trail. A rescue and return flight home ends with Logan ghosting our story line heroine until the ghosts from the past refuse to let go.

The world building follows our couple on the run, through tiny villages and swamps, a hurricane and explosion but the more dangerous the mission, the closer together our couple becomes in the face of bullets and blood.

The relationship between Logan and Lauren begins as a rescue, and Logan knows immediately Lauren is the woman to control his heart but Logan struggles with severe PTSD, and the trek through the jungle is about to stir up memories he wished he could forget. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The colorful secondary and supporting characters include Logan’s teammates Ethan Cross, Jace Monroe, Ty Hughes, as well as fellow doctor Sophia Yang, Lauren’s parents Richard and Catherine Valentino, and several members of the Corazon Cartel. The requisite evil has many faces.

DUTY DEVOTED is a story of power and control, obsession and murder, family and friendships, relationships and love. The action packed premise is dramatic and intense; the romance is fated and provocative; the characters are desperate, determined and charismatic.

This is the second book in Dominic Pierce’s “Citadel Solutions" series. The first book is the story of Ethan Cross, a member of this high security group. This second book is about Logan Kane, a former marine who is now a security expert for Citadel Solutions. If you have not read the first book, you will have no trouble enjoying this book. Even though both heroes work on the same team at Citadel Solutions, their stories are totally different and do not overlap.

The heroine of this book is Dr. Lauren Valentino, a doctor who works and lives in the war-torn jungles of Corazon. When her rich family becomes aware that her hospital is very close to an oncoming hurricane and has also become the target of some killers who have overtaken Corazon, they want Lauren to leave immediately. So they contact Citadel Solutions to send a team to bring their daughter safely home. Thus, Logan and his team are sent to extract Lauren and her medical team.

Unfortunately, while planning Lauren’s extraction, none of them anticipate that Lauren’s strong devotion to her job will force her to refuse to leave. She thrives on helping people who are seriously injured and need her skills to stay alive. Meanwhile, Logan gives her and her team only one week to close down the hospital since there is a hurricane about to hit their area.

However, when the hurricane speeds up and the treacherous killers quickly move toward them, Logan decides the team must leave immediately! In spite of the impending danger, Lauren refuses to leave without first checking on her more serious patients. Thus, the entire group decides to leave without Lauren and Logan who will meet up with them as soon as Lauren is done with her rounds.

However, Lauren and Logan wait too long and miss their ride. Now, they must run for their lives as they attempt to catch up with their group before they fly home. Meanwhile they must circumvent the hurricane and the killers, as they fight their mixed emotions for each other.

If you enjoy reading page-turners with heightened suspense, constant action, unexpected twists and turns, and evil villains, then Dominic Pierce is the author for you! His books will keep you on the edge-of-your seats throughout the entire book!

Duty Devoted by Dominic Pierce
Citadel Solutions #2

~ Action-packed thrill ride from beginning to end ~ Couldn’t put it down ~ Great addition to the series ~

What I liked:
* Dr. Lauren Valentino: brilliant, highly skilled, focused on her patients, saves lives in difficult situations, works well in remote areas under difficult circumstances, strong, resilient, survivor, would like her as a friend, rather taken with Logan
* Logan Kane: ex-Marine, battle experience, has PTSD, persistent, protective, professional, strong, lethal, team player, leader, loner, prefers not to kill if there is an alternative, scarred mentally and physically, rather attracted to Lauren, someone I would want on my side
* That even though Lauren and Logan had quite different professions they both had similar goals for those they served
* The team that will show up (I hope) in future books: Ethan Cross, Tyler Hughes, Jace Monroe, Ben Garrison and Jolly his K-9 partner, and Andrew Volante ~ each has skills that support and enhance those of the others
* Elena: a young girl in Corazón, old soul, bright, someone with a future
* The intricate immersive plot, the perfect pacing, the setting descriptions that appealed to all of my senses, and the excellent writing style
* That I was drawn in immediately and my interest was held throughout
* Being able to hate the Silva father and son cartel heads that were evil, vile, despicable beings that I hoped would receive their just desserts
* Knowing that there is another book to come with Ty as the star
* All of it really except…

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Thinking about how callous and horrible Diego and Mateo Silver were and wondering if all cartel leaders/members are cruel and value human life so little
* Having to say goodbye to the characters…for now

Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Yes

Thank you to the author and Calamittie Jane Publishing - Protector Romance Circle for the ARC – This is my honest review.

I absolutely loved this story! It pulled me in from beginning to end and held my attention the entire time. I was engaged with the characters from the start and it definitely starts off with a bang. This story is full of action and is very well developed. It allowed me to delve both into the story and the characters. Lauren is an amazing doctor who truly cares about her patients and helping people, at times to her own detriment. She wants to help the people that need it the most and doesn't care that she is not living the life that her family wants her to, it's the life she wants. Logan has his own demons he is dealing with. He is former marine and specializes in impossible situations and missions and figuring some way to make things work and get out. I love the Citadel team and the way that they work. Lauren and Logan are both strong individuals that are fierce and resilient, caring and compassionate though that comes out in different ways for them both. Sparks definitely fly in a few ways when they meant and Logan is there to protect Lauren, as a cartel leader has taken a big interest in her and of course mother nature has something in the works as well. They also have other obstacles that they have to overcome when the past comes knocking and insecurities come out to play. This story felt genuine and authentic with everything going on and happening and it really just pulled me in and made it to where I did not want to put the book down. I had to see what was happening next with the characters, both action/plot wise and relationship wise. This was sooo very well done and I am truly excited to see what is coming next!

Citadel Solutions is a security company that specializes in high risk extractions, usually from unfriendly countries.
The wealthy family of doctor Lauren Valentino wants to hire CItadel Solutions to extract their daughter who has been working in Corazón for the last six months. Corazón is a place where the cartel rules and the people live below the poverty line.
Assign to be the lead of the extraction is former Marine , Logan Kane. This is a man that has suffered many losses in his career and those losses and the time in the Marines has left him with a great deal of guilt and PTSD. The only way to survive is going from one dangerous job to another.
Whom he never expected to meet and have him questioning his choices is Lauren, a dedicated doctor who fiercely protects the village and her patients.
This latest extraction is anything but simple as things go haywireand these two individuals find themselves transversing the jungles in their attempt to outrun the cartel. Meanwhile, developing feelings for each other that neither wants.
Prepare yourselves for a rollercoaster ride of danger, emotions and survival.
The author delivers not only an engaging story from beginning to end but also highlights the effects many brave men and women who serve our country have to deal with once they return home. Civilian life is not easy, nor is the PTSD that many suffer. As individuals and as a nation, we must do more to help these true heroes .
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I enjoyed this Citadel Solutions instalment FAR more than Book 1 - Lauren felt like a more 3D FMC than Mel, and we didn't have the whole "'I'm a competent career woman who just wants to be a wife and mother' as written by a man" issue that made me roll my eyes hard enough to strain something in Duty Unbound.

I also liked that BOTH Lauren and Logan grow as characters over the course of this book. It's still not a five-star read for me - both of the main characters do plot-convenient stupid things at times, but I liked that in THIS instalment, at least, both of them have their areas of competence, agency and ability to contribute to the plot rather than just getting blown around by the plot-winds. And I ABSOLUTELY liked that a huge part of what Logan found attractive about Lauren WAS her strength and competence.

For me, that was what was missing in Book 1 - Ethan specifically wanted someone who WASN'T ambitious or strong the way his ex had been, and initially felt that Mel's career was an obstacle to them being together. It was only when she expressed enthusiasm and willingness to give that up and become a SAHM that he saw they could have a future. But right from the get-go, Logan saw Lauren's competence and ability as a turn-on, and something he admired on a deeper level - and I'll forgive a lot for that kind of respect.

So yes. I feel like this instalment HAS redeemed the series, and I'm curious enough about the world Mr Pierce has created to keep reading when Book 3 comes out in November. We'll see how it goes from there.

Dr. Lauren Valentino had never followed the career path that her parents wanted. She didn’t want to work in a large hospital and has signed on with Compass Medical Outreach, currently in Corazon. The situation is becoming dangerous, so they may have to leave early, but she has made friends among the people and cares for them. It seems as if she won’t have a choice as she has attracted the unwelcome attention of a man of the area’s brutal regime. When Logan Kane, former Marine and a member of Citadel Solutions, is apprised of the need to extract Dr. Valentino and her fellow doctors, he plans a clear-cut mission. Although personal situations are uncomfortable for him due to his recurring PTSD, he is excellent at his job, hopes for the best, but prepares for the worst. It’s good that he did as from the beginning medical issues intrude, Lauren objects to his decisions, an evil man who is obsessed with her, a hurricane and a trek through the jungle to reach their extraction point, while evading the enemy. There is a strong attraction between Logan & Lauren, but he knows that he is not good enough for her, but will she help him realize he is the man she wants and needs? Don’t blink as just as you think life has calmed down for them, think again! A complete rush from the very beginning to the thrilling end! Thrilling, Emotional, and Full of Heat – A Must-Read Romantic Suspense

Duty Devoted by Dominic Pierce delivers a gripping blend of high-stakes action and slow-burning romance that had me hooked from the first page. Set in the dangerous, war-torn jungles of Corazón, this story pairs a brave and compassionate doctor with a hardened ex-Marine in a race against time—and against death.

Dr. Lauren Valentino is a compelling heroine—dedicated, selfless, and unflinchingly brave. Her commitment to her patients, even in the face of life-threatening danger, makes her easy to admire.

Logan Kane, sent to extract her from an increasingly deadly situation, is the kind of brooding protector readers of romantic suspense love: tough, capable, and carrying more emotional baggage than he lets on.

The chemistry between Lauren and Logan is immediate and electric, but what really stands out is how the story balances adrenaline-pumping tension with emotional vulnerability. As the two are forced into the jungle with killers closing in and a hurricane looming, trust becomes their only lifeline. Pierce does a phenomenal job ratcheting up both the external and internal stakes, making every chapter feel urgent and alive.

If you're a fan of romantic suspense with real emotional depth, dangerous missions, and characters who fight just as hard for love as they do for survival, Duty Devoted is one to add to your list.

Oh i love it!!Logan is such a great character trying to manage his PTS while doing good for others....he think only ction can help him avoid spiralling so he does a little to much and when rescuing some doctor in the jungle under cartel control is the mission that sound perfect for him.

Sure lot of action but also a strong and determined doctor wanting to help those in need and even if he refuses to admit it he does need help

Lauren may be coming from rich background but her goal is to help those needing medical treatment the most and it means going to remote location sometimes dangerous ones. She wants to make a difference....except that in Corazon ...she attracts the eyes of the cartel master son, a dangerous person refusing "no" for answer.....with a Hurricane in approach and civilians in danger she is torn between trusting Logan and his team and wanting to stay to help.....except that sometimes helping is leaving.

I really loved the setting, the story and secondary characters like Elena so ressourful and empathic ... the citadel solutions team is always so great with Ty trying to stay playful and some we would love to learn more (like a certain k9)
I loved the psychological aspect as well how Lauren comes to understand Logan and herself better, lot of action, great romance a perfect blend!

really it's a fabulous romance suspense story that can easilily be read as stand alone ( though the series is to great to miss an instalment)

Duty Devoted is another great addition to the Citadel Solutions series! Logan Kane is an operative with issues. He is a great member of his team but has been troubled by his PTSD for years and things aren't getting better for him so he keeps moving from job to job to try and outrun his demons. His latest extraction is to retrieve a doctor and her partners that are working in an unstable part of the South American jungle. Dr. Lauren Valentino loves working at this rural medical clinic. She has found a bigger purpose here then she ever did in the bustling hospital in Chicago. Lauren doesn't want to leave Corazon and fights Logan until a local cartel leader becomes obsessed with her and she fears for her friends safety. If that isn't enough, there's a hurricane bearing down on the region and Logan and Lauren are forced to make alternate plans to get to safety. Will they or won't they get to freedom? Will they get past their personal issues and traumas and reach out to have something more then their jobs? Duty Devoted was a great romantic suspense story. It stood alone in the series but you'll see all of the supporting cast mentioned as well as some new characters to add to the Citadel team. The action is top notch and will have you glued to the pages. The romantic scenes are believable and heartfelt. It was told from dual POV and shouldn't be missed!

Can Love Survive a Deadly Mission and a Broken Soldier?
For readers who love emotion with their adrenaline.
When violence threatens her clinic, Dr. Lauren Valentino refuses to leave—despite her family’s growing concern. Fearing what a powerful cartel might do, they send a Citadel Solutions team to extract her and the other doctors before it’s too late. Logan Kane, a former Marine with a haunted past, leads the mission just as a deadly storm approaches. But when Lauren stays behind to help one last patient, Logan refuses to leave her. What should have been a controlled operation quickly spirals into a desperate flight through the jungle. All they have are their instincts, Logan’s training—and a growing, undeniable connection.
They clash at first, but as the stakes rise, so does their bond. Logan is tormented by PTSD—nightmares, flashbacks, and the belief that he’s too broken for love. Lauren, meanwhile, must confront her own doubts about what it means to be strong when everything’s falling apart.
This is more than a romance—it’s a story of survival, healing, and hard-won hope. You might need a box of tissues handy. Lauren and Logan will break your heart before they find their way back to each other, but their journey is unforgettable. Full of grit, danger, and emotion, this romantic suspense is a must-read for fans of stories where love doesn’t come easy—but comes fiercely.

Second book in series, a captivating read wonderful characters and a plot that will captivate
Logan is a tough individual that put everything of himself into a mission and this is what made his so very good at what he did. When he and his team go to Corazon the doctors are all dedicated especially Dr. Lauren Valentino who totally captivates him with her beauty and character.
The team tell her that they have to move her with a week as a Cartel leader is showing a great deal of interest in her and Logan is determined to keep her safe, no one will be hurt whilst they are under his watch. Sparks do fly between Logan and Lauren and as he is trying to keep her safe and then when the mission is finished, he does not believe he is the man for her, he will then move onto his next mission, keeping another individual safe
This is a wonderful heartfelt read that has you completely captivated from beginning to end and I now am looking forward to future books in this series.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

Lauren, who’s a doctor, has been in the jungles of Corazón treating villagers and workers who don’t have access to a hospital. Her team has been there for months and have developed a trust with the people. When she catches the interest of the cartel, specifically the son of the leader, Mateo, her time may be up….in more ways than one. Luckily, her parents have sent Citadel Solutions to check up on her after not being able to reach her for many days. Logan and his team arrive just in time, a hurricane is approaching and Mateo is done waiting. With limited resources and an army of cartel guards, they need to leave right away….what could possibly go wrong.
Holy smokes!! Another page turner from beginning to end with action, suspense, steam, surprises and amazing characters. The descriptions were spot on, felt like I was right there in the middle of it all, squelching through the jungle with them. I LOVED these two, no over the top drama and how they both rescued each other from all the dangers around them and their own personal demons…..and I LOVED LOVED the bonus epilogues!!

From the jungle to the city, the author describes the circumstance and surrounding so real that I can feel and smell it. Logan is a tortured soul by PTSD. Marine gives him the training and skills, but nightmares too. When he meets Lauren in the middle of the jungle, he decides he doesn’t deserve the good doctor. Saving her life is his job, but he fails to protect her from injury and himself. So he runs away for Lauren’s sake until she needs protection again. Lauren, a doctor from a wealthy background, is no shrinking violet. She can get the most prestigious jobs anywhere, but she chooses to take care of the needy in remote places, where she finds her real purpose. When the cartel sets eyes on her, she has no choice but to escape with Logan’s help, with a hurricane descending on them. Trained to save lives, she doesn’t hesitate to take them when the situation needs it to protect the loved ones. The danger and emotions are so palpable that I am totally in there with Logan and Lauren. This is what an awesome story does for me – completely escape from sweltering summer heat and unrelenting work 😊

I am so impressed by Dominic Pierce's writing talent. The scenes he creates are so authentic in the action, danger and suspense that I feel like I am living the experiences as they happen to his characters. It's both exhilarating ad exhausting (in only the best ways.) This was a one sitting read for me and it was stellar start to finish.

Logan and Lauren...wow what a pair. Both fierce in their own way, courageous, compassionate, with real life hands-on experience to draw from and steel spined resilience. Their chemistry is immediate and palpable though both would deny it. The trek they make through the jungle is fraught with every danger imaginable both human and animal. Mother Nature definitely isn't playing fair make their journey doubly difficult. Along the way these two really get to know one another. Their vulnerabilities on full display. They also light up the nights with their passion. She's more than just a mission but will his perceived frailties and imperfections keep him from getting what they both want? Each other.

This is the second book in the series, and is a stand alone. Yes you met some of the characters in the first book, but you just got to know their personalities and how they fit into the Citadel Solutions team. Logan is team lead on this mission to extract a group of doctors from Corazón. The Cartel is getting more and more unstable if you will in that area. Yes Dr. Lauren Valentino's parents are probably footing the bill, but the goal is to get all of the doctors out. With a hurricane looming as well, what could possibly go wrong?
I love the slow burn between Lauren and Logan. I love that both characters have a little bit of baggage they are working through. The book also has just the right mix of heart pounding suspense. I also love that this series is a male author, something that's not common in the romance world, but he sure does know how to write. Looking forward to the next book of the series. I'm hoping since the premise is about a security company that new characters keep getting introduced and the series continues for a long time.
