Ever since birth, Ryne McIntyre has had to deal with many losses in his brief life ranging from kidnappings, heartbreaks, deaths, and his valuable pitching arm. After dealing with bouts of depression resulting from all these losses, Ryne emerges from the darkest period of his life to help the citizens of Boston as a vigilante known as The Machine with help of his cybernetic engineer mother and her able assistant. As the vigilante, Ryne had to deal with a police force searching for him and his mother's mentor turned adversary who wants her dead.
