This is book 27 in the Sweet Cove paranormal cozy mystery series by USA TODAY Bestselling Author J.A. Whiting.
A cozy mystery with recipes.
When beloved librarian Marion Talbot passes away unexpectedly, the Roseland sisters are heartbroken—but not prepared for what she leaves behind. Among Marion’s personal papers is a handwritten notebook marked “To be opened if anything happens to me.” Inside are the confessions of a woman haunted by a tragedy she rarely spoke of aloud—the suspicious death of her best friend, Lillian Green, more than fifty years ago. Though long ruled an accident, Marion believed someone in Sweet Cove was responsible. Now, with Marion gone, the Roseland sisters and Mr. Finch take up her quiet quest for justice. As they unravel a decades-old mystery buried beneath years of silence, secrets, and faded memories, they discover that someone in their peaceful town still wants the truth to stay hidden. Will the Roseland sisters, Mr. Finch, Chief Martin, and two fine felines find the answers to a mystery that never faded with time?

A 55 Year Old Past Reveals Secrets, Grief and Guilty Heartaches!
Before I start my review, I'd like to thank the author for telling the reader that little Gigi and Libby are four years old. This episode has the Roseland sisters sorting through a recently beloved deceased Librarian resident's boxes that were donated to the local library, in order to set up a memorial in her honor. While going through the boxes, they find diaries and photographs from the summer of 1968. Mari, the owner of those items, asks the diary's reader to find out what really happened to her friend, Lilly, all those years ago. Mari never believed that Lilly accidentally fell in the lake and died. So, the Roseland sisters, Mr. Finch, and their two intuitive cats investigate. I rated this book 5 stars. I received an ARC and this is my honest review.
Mari the town's librarian has passed away, old age. It's decided someone needs to go through Mari's journals to set up a memorial for Mari. The Roseland sisters offer to help. They discover Mari had been looking into a death from 1968 that was ruled accidental but she had her doubts. She gathered everything she could find about the night Lilly died. Good story, I love the characters in this book and seeing them grow. Good series.
This book had me trying to piece together what really happened till the end. The unexpected twist and subtle hints kept me intrigued but not on the edge of your seat excited. I was frustrated in my quest to understand complex characters and the more personal ending. Is this change in the style development of the story, a change for the series? Keep reading to find out what happens next.
I found this to be one of Whiting’s best in Sweet Cove series. Very emotional and insightful. Emotional pain, guilt and fear cause havoc and distortion over time. Whiting did an excellent job unraveling the heartbreaking story.
I really enjoy this series and the way the author writes. For me, it captures my attention and is so easy to get into and enjoy the book. I hope the series continues for a long while and will look forward to the next book.
Well written, I love all the Sweet Cove books. The characters are all wonderful. I can't wait for more stories to take us back to the town of Sweet Cove and to the people who live there.
Another success by JA Whiting. This one twists and turns at a good pace, with all the familiar characters, plus a bit of Sweet Cove history which is always fun. I'm looking forward to book 28. A great read.
