I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
The story begins with Fitz and Charlie learning of the shooting of POTUS. Shortly after, they receive a visit by someone who asks them to meet Sen. Ford at a certain address. It turns out the address is Ford Theatre. When they arrive, they meet individuals from Warren Circle, a group that has been established since the Revolutionary War. They are asked to become members as well looking into the shooting of POTUS.
Once they left to check out the scene of the shooting, they then felt there was something phony about the location. It did not lend the opportunity of the shooter being discovered before he could fire. They later had a visit from Burrows, an FBI agent they worked with previously, who believed that there was something wrong as well and was conducting an investigation off to the side of the FBI’s own. He wanted to work with them. Fitz the next day while out for a run was followed and it turned out to be a member of the Secret Service. This person told Fitz that he believed what was released did not match up and gave him some infor. This person was not the only person providing Fitz and Charlie data. Reviewing the information, they determined that the shooting was done at a different location.
Follow along as the two hunt for what really happened and who was responsible. The ending is well done and provides all the answers.

This was brilliant. It is intense, full of twists and riveting from start to finish. Conor is hired to investigate after there is an assassination attempt on the president during her morning jog. Things don't add up and there's lots of inconsistencies in the security services statements. Lots of conspiracies are in play and people are being silenced as a result.
I guarantee you won't want to put this down once you start reading it. There's so much going on and the plot is so clever that I wasn't entirely sure who to actually trust. It's hard to see how the next book can possibly top this.

Calling all fans of themes such as consipracy, political intrigue, assassination and murder. Stacy hit a bullseye with this title including all of the aforementioned elements in a fast paced, twisty, who done it and why novel. If you are like me and love books in these categories, you have to add this author to your MUST READ list.
I am ashamed to admit that I am late to the Stacy M. Jones bandwagon. She is now one of my favorite authors. How I have overlooked Ms. Jones for so long is a mystery to me. I look forward to reading future Connor Fitzgerald thrillers promised in Spring 2026 as well as other books by this author.

A secret society, shots fired, the FBI, the CIA, the Secret Service, a love affair, an attempt to assassinate the president, a dead shooter and a cult. What more could you want? Fitz and Charlie are invited to be part of a centuries old group that protects the constitution and are tasked with doing an investigation into who shot the president. Nothing adds up and everyone is telling lies. Entertaining books and ends with Fitz having an unexpected visitor which opens entertaining possibilities. Look forward to the next adventure.

i, literally, couldn't put it down. I read most of day, thru the night and finished next morning.
This is by far the best most intense book I have ever read. I recommended it to family and friends already. I learned so much about the government and what happens behind the scenes from it. It was amazing. Stacy has a knack for using characters and background to tell a story that is so believable and real.

The old saying, ‘“Come into my parlour” said the spider to the fly” might be what Fitz, the central character pondered as events unfolded around him. Thrown headfirst into political intrigue, conspiracies theories galore and a very mysterious secret society, Fitz and his partner are forced to delve deeper and deeper into the hidden secrets and seedy underbelly of government. This is a definite page turner and thoroughly satisfying read!

Wow! The pacing on this one was incredible. I love how Fitz and Charlie managed to figure out all the coverups at breakneck speed, while staying alive against very powerful people. While I was reading I could picture this playing out a movie, which hopefully isn't an insult to the author. It was just so clear and well detailed.
Looking forward to Book 3.

Was the President really shot on a morning run at the Washington memorial? That is the challenge for Fitz and Charlie: reveal the inconsistencies, the secrets and avoid becoming the next target. I couldn't figure out the ending so this is an excellent mystery in my book. I was given a copy. This is my voluntary opinion

Stacy M Jones has taken her craft to the next level. This is an incredible series featuring a past DC detective and CIA agent. Fitz and Charlie make a compelling team while trying to get to the bottom of a White House shooting and elaborate scandal. You can’t put this book down. This is a killer political thriller that makes a fantastic and gripping summer read!

Stacy has lots of twists in the investigation of the attempted assassination of the first female president.
There are so many lies being told about who, when and why. It really keeps you guessing.

This is the second book in the Connor Fitzgerald series. It’s a story of conspiracy, lies, and deceit. Non-stop action kept me on my toes! It’s intense and full of twists and turns. It’s a very well written polical thriller.

Interesting storyline
From the beginning, the author grips your attention and locks you in. Crazy conspiracy theories and political antics that are probably true than we would want to admit. Given our current climate , it's easier to accept.

I liked the first book better, this one seemed to happen inside Fitz and Charlie’s bubble.. Even though it was a big story, there didn’t seem to be any others looking into the same storylines. A great book though, and hopefully there will be more!
