Years have passed since the dead rose and wiped out most of the living. Many survivors have gathered in pockets around the world. Some are bent on trying to restore what once was, others with a mind to create something new and better from the ashes of civilization, and then there are those who now thrive in the hellish chaos of lawlessness.
While the undead currently roam the world in herds that can often stretch for miles and number in the millions, the zombies are no longer the biggest threat to humanity’s continued existence. That distinction has returned to mankind.
Those who are immune to the zombie infection are now either reviled or revered. Some have become human biological weapons, while others are seen as the last hope for the continued existence of the human race. They are a symbol of hope for some...fear to others.
Tucked away in the Pacific Northwest with my wife Denise, a Border Collie named Aoife, a guitar collection, and an increasing number of aquariums sporting a variety of fish (cichlids are my new favorites), I live for football season when I can cheer on the Oregon Ducks and be disappointed by my Seattle Seahawks once again. I am a fan of Cookie Monster, KISS, and Dr. Who (along with most things British).
As a person who always dreamed of writing as well as one completely enthralled by all things zombie, it is hard to believe that I never once considered writing in the genre. It is true. I wanted to be more “mainstream”. The first novel I actually wrote is titled Dakota (as Todd Brown). It is about a pair of DEA types tossed back in time to just prior to the start of the Civil War. They are in Charleston, South Carolina, and one of them is an African-American.
The zombie thing really started when I wrote a short for a college Creative Writing class. The teacher, Ms. Bose, pulled me up and told me I had an obvious love for the subject and a real talent for the style. I decided to give it a shot.
The first thing I cobbled together was Zomblog. I wrote it as a warm up for the project I had brewing in the back of my mind. It is a journal account of the apocalypse. The funny thing is that it was never intended to be published. A few things happened and it ended up being presented to me as a gift in book format by my wife for a Christmas present. There was something I will never forget about holding the copy of that book in my hand the first time. Because it gained a readership, and those readers asked for more, I made it a trilogy (Zomblog, Zomblog II, and Zomblog: The Final Entry). It is also because of those fans that I have returned to the Zomblog universe and just released the sixth (and FINAL) book in the series on Halloween of 2013: Zomblog: Snoe's Journey. I freely admit that I will sellout my plans to write what the fans ask for.
I really want my DEAD series to be what I am known for, and in the last year, it has really taken off. However, I will say that with the release of the fourth book in the DEAD series (DEAD: Winter), the numbers started to pick up beyond my wildest dreams.
The DEAD series (DEAD: The Ugly Beginning, DEAD: Revelations, and DEAD: Fortunes & Failures, DEAD: Winter, DEAD: Siege & Survival, DEAD: Confrontation, DEAD: Reborn) is scheduled to be a 12 part epic series.
It is told in three rotating chapters. One is from the first person perspective of Steve Hobart, a man thrust into the role of leader for a group of survivors struggling to keep alive. One chapter follows a group of four self-professed zombie “geeks” who initially believe that the zombie apocalypse would be fun and soon discover that it is nothing like the movies. The third of the rotating chapters is called “Vignettes” and is a series of snapshots from all around the world. Some of the vignettes are single chapter episodes, others are continuing threads that carry on for several chapters. A few are merged into the Steve story or the Geek story line.
Last year,I began my horror/comedy series, "That Ghoul Ava" and have found it to be my new guilty pleasure.
Yet another awesome addition to TW Brown's "Dead" series! Everything is just so detailed and realistic; and the characters are so amazingly well developed. There were tons of surprises in book 10, some of them happy and even more were shocking and sad. I don't want to give away a single detail, so this is all I will say. As far as the storyline goes...my lips are sealed!
Basically, if you enjoy zombies and stories based in an apocalyptic world, then this is the series for you! Definitely make sure you start with "Dead: The Beginning" so you get the whole story. Even if you are not a huge zombie fan you might want to give the "Dead" series a try. Although there are plenty of zombies, they are far from the center of the story. At this point, people are far scarier than any dried up, jaw snapping zombies!
The one bummer is the fact that for the moment I seem to have hit a wall. There will be 12 books when the series is done, but at this point there are only 10. Luckily, book 11 is due to come out in about 3 weeks. I hope it is at least close to on time! Either way, I guess it gives me a chance to check out the extra books linked to this series; and I have been wanting a chance to dive into TW Brown's "Zomblog" series I have heard so much about, or even his "My Ghoul Ava" series that I got a glimpse of a few books back. There are so many choices and they all sound great!!!
I cannot wait to see what TW Brown comes up with next!
Don't let the headline fool you this is 5 Stars, TW Brown has a way of writing that makes you forget these are his creations & not real people, while my Favorite character is about to be eaten, I keep thinking, they'll be rescued at the last minute, oh no His/Her fingers are being devoured, and then more and more zombies are eating... no rescue this time! There are a lot of characters to like in the dead series, but DO NOT GET ATTACHED to anyone, 3 main People are forever gone from this series, and there are only 2 more novels to wrap up everything . It's going to be a long time before April gets here, but Mr. Brown has another series planned about the time this one is finished, hope you enjoy, I have to force myself to put down the book so it will last longer.
I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I've been a fan of this series from the Ugly Beginning, and if I had to pick my favorite of the series, it would be DEAD: Reclamation. Several years have passed in the DEAD world, and our favorite characters have been through hell through those years. I don't want to give anything away, but this book shocked me and broke my heart. Through this series, I've become very attached to the characters. You can't help but feel like you know them. To me that is TW's biggest strength as an author. He writes these characters in such detail and description, that you feel like you know them and they're part of your family. If you haven't read this series, I highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed!!!!
I will start by saying that if you have never read TW Brown, then you have been missing out on so much. Todd holds nothing back, crosses every barrier and boundary with glee, and does what is most important for any author: he makes you feel. I started reading his books by recommendation of a friend a few years back and can say without a shadow of a doubt that the emotions stirred up in his tales of the last of the living in a world overrun with the dead are hardcore. Zombies are not cute. They are not something to be romanticized and neither is the end of the world as we know it and you will read what it takes to live in that world with every turn of the page.
T.W Brown has done it again with the 10th book in the DEAD series “DEAD: Reclamation”. Oh how I love this series and thinking it being the 10th book where can it possibly go…he sure didn’t disappoint. This book brings us years in the future to find out where our favorite characters ended up and where they are going next, and can there still be zombies roaming the streets. So much action and suspense, with the many twists and turns to keep your head spinning. And, just when you think all is good, BAM he throws a curve ball and leaves you hanging until next time. Keeps me definitely wanting more and anticipating the next book.
The thrill and frustration of this series continues!!
the anticipation of the start of this 4th trilogy was tormenting, but the first pages helped provide answers and update the latest activities. the pace and movement between stories kept driving me to want to read the next page.
Todd, congrats on your increasing success with these books, I've just re-read all the books, and your increasing confidence in knowing how to tell this story, both the heartbreak and highlights, is a delight to read and follow. the next one is already on my task list to order!!
It was nice to see things from Thalia's perspective this time. At first it was kind of weird that ten years has past and readers did not receive much information about the time skip though. So it was a little difficult to follow at first.Overall the story seems to be moving along nicely. The best part of the whole book is the excerpt at the end of the new companion series of snapshots. We get a taste of how it began with titled cities and this first one is of Portland, OR. I'm excited to see the cities Mr. Brown picks and what he includes that regionally has significance.
I did really enjoy this book, although the death of a main character really sent me spinning! I think I was in shock, and had to stop reading for a little while. I just can't believe it happened!
I really enjoy how this paints a very vivid picture in your mind - “They draw more and more of their kind over time until you have these massive super-herds. They are like a force of nature, leveling everything in their path and leaving a trail of destruction,” Kevin finished,"
Loved the ending, and am waiting for the next book
As an avid fan of TW Brown and the Dead Series, book 10 does not disappoint. This has to be my favourite one so far- due to the unique advantage that Brown has develop this zombie apocalypse into a series so that zombies are no longer that main issue. This book is set years down the line now- 11 years after the initial apocalypse took place, the worlds changed, priorities change, people adapt.. Well worth reading ☺️
I was still in shoe to see how things have changed and so much time pass between book 9 and this one. characters have grown older, or bigger. the transitioning of the young to adulthood. and Kevin's love life change. I just hate it when a character meets their ending fate. Arrghh. but it was all an awesome read. keep up the great job and keep them coming!
You did it again, I really enjoy reading this book can't wait for the next book to come out, but tell me why of all the characters you have in this books why did kevin have to die, it broke my heart he was one of my favorite character.
P.s dead snapshot I like what I read so far keep it coming.

This book was soooo good but yet sad!!! One of it's beloved characters has perished!! I just didn't expect this main character to die because he was a strong character which I would've liked to see his story play out until the end. The killer was a shocker to me!! Keep your friends close but your enemies even closer!! I totally recommend this book and the entire series!
I really enjoyed this book. The previous book felt like the end of the series, and in a way it was as this one is the zombies equivalent of Twenty Years After.
I think the author did a good job filling in all the gaps in between the timelines and provided all the details I was interested in. I liked Talia as the new POV protagonist as I think that she brings a different view to the other characters.
A bit sad to think that it feels like there are no good guys at all and not only once the characters are considering that maybe humanity deserves to be extinct. At the end of the day I guess that that's the reason I am here, finishing a 10th book about zombies; people are assholes, or boring or both.
T W Brown's Dead: Reclamation is the tenth book in a series about a zombie apocalypse and different perspectives. This book is a fast forward several years from the last book. We get to see where the characters are about 10 years after the beginning of this zombie apocalypse. There are so many great scenes here and a few that made me cry and fel wrecked. Just because a character is beloved and strong, that character is not necessarily safe when the world still has psychos and zombies. Oh man, I need the next book... sleep is under-rated.
Narrator eally brought the characters' personalities out and the story came to life. Great job. Love it!
Oh man, bold move killing Kevin off. Not sure how I feel about his death. I appreciate that we got a full narration to the bloody end(s?) (definite possibility for an entrail pun here). Still the utter pointlessness of Kevin’s death was disappointingly realistic but I understand after requiring the reader to suspend disbelief over so much else in this sort of genre a certain amount of somber realism is required to ground the whole thing but stilllllll... Kevin, poor, poor Kevin, I’ve become attached! I wish he could have at least gone out in a guns blazing showdown or the heroic sacrificial last stand of sorts, I imagined he would would have wanted. Anyways he will be missed. RIP Kevin.
I hope to see more zombie stuff from TW! He has a gift. No need to build Upon the same character but I think going into more Groups Around the world would Be fun.
This series is amazing. Heroes rise, heroes fall, and new heroes step up to take their place. Man's inhumanity towards man is a bigger threat than zombies. Regular people are thrust into roles they are untrained and unprepared for- and rise to the challenge.
Brown doesn't hesitate to kill off beloved characters. That would be the death knell for many authors, but he so skilled at bringing in new characters and writing them in a life-like, full and three-dimensional way that there is always someone else to step in for the fallen.
Slightly better than the previous books, but let's be honest here. It's all rape, rape, rape. Evil sex stuff. Everybody worshipping Juan and Kevin. Sorry, but... boring.
