The Solution~ The Vaccine Alternative A Parents Guide to Educating Your Child's Immune System Kate Birch, RSHom(NA), CCH, CMT and Cilla Whatcott, HD (RHom), CCH Cilla Whatcott, HD (RHom), CCH Illustrated by Hannah Albert ND
Regardless of where a person stands regarding vaccines, this book is extremely informative for anyone who wants a scientific explanation of how the human body contracts disease and fights disease. It's also extremely informative on giving a scientific explanation of how vaccines work, something I figured I generally knew, but having a scientific break down made me realize I really didn't understand fully how vaccines stimulate immune system response. I also found it fascinating to learn that Cuba government used homeoprophylaxis during a disease epidemic in 2007 with government stating greater preference and succees with this method vs vaccines.
Honestly? I wasn't impressed. Other than the one page regarding the homeoprophylaxis schedule itself, there wasn't much here of interest. The editing was poor (nonexistent); you can get far more information on homeopathy from, well, any other title on homeopathy that I've seen over the years, and there are certainly books out there with far more research into the risks involved with today's vaccinations than this book could even begin to touch on.
I get that the authors wanted to make a short, accessible book for the masses, but to be perfectly frank, it's the epitome of "woo-woo" for these reasons and I would be far more likely to hand someone a copy of How to End the Autism Epidemic (for example), which delves into recent research on maternal immune activation, cytokine storms, aluminum adjuvant toxicity, and so on and so forth.
I was very pleasantly surprised with the content of this book. It very simply explained the concept of natural health and theory of illness and disease. Touches on pathogens and explains a method of healing that not only makes sense, but is likely to be the future. I wish I had copies to give out to all my friends, family, colleagues, and strangers on the street, even if they don't follow the advice, to gain the insight on a holistic aspect of health is incredible.
