Magnolia Cove Magic #1

Whisked Away: A Cozy, Magical Small-Town Romance Full of Sugar, Secrets, and Second Chances

Rate this book
A grumpy food critic. A golden retriever baker. One magic-sweet town that might just change everything...

Writing a scathing exposé on a small-town bakery was the only thing on my agenda when I arrived in Magnolia Cove. But when Ethan Hart—charming baker, overpriced vanilla enthusiast, and the town’s golden boy—whisked me into his world of flour and magic, everything changed.

Why? Because this bakery is more than just a quaint little shop; it’s a hub of the community, where gossip is served as generously as the frosting. And Ethan’s smile is as irresistible as his pastries. The longer I stay, the more I find myself falling for his cinnamon rolls—and the man behind them. (I know. Groan-worthy. Blame the pastries.)

I need this promotion. Landing this article is my ticket to a significant career boost and the money that goes with it. If I keep my professional distance, I can write the article, expose the truth, and head back to my life without a second thought. Easy as pie, right? But with every pastry lesson and stolen glance, every time I sense the magic in Magnolia Cove might be real, my resolve crumbles like a perfectly baked croissant.

This was supposed to be about the bakery, but as sparks fly in the kitchen, I can’t seem to keep my heart—and headline—intact. If I’m not careful, I might lose both the story and the man who’s turning my world upside down.

Noel grew up with her nose buried in the worlds of Anne Shirley and Elizabeth Bennet, falling for Gilbert Blythe and Mr. Darcy long before she knew what "dreamy literary hero" even meant. Now, she channels that same love of romance and banter into her own cozy, feel-good stories filled with music, baked goods, and a pinch of magic.

When she’s not writing, Noel can usually be found reading her way through stacks of romance and fantasy novels, listening to Hozier and Fleetwood Mac, or hiking through fairy tale forests. She believes life is always better with a sprinkle of fairy dust, a perfect cinnamon roll, and a HEA.

The sweetest and most warm hug I've read in so long. The magical realism and description was written to beautifully, making me want to visit this island.

Alex (FMC) is a food journalist, looking after her younger sister after her parents passed away, she's driven and very normal which is refreshing, because I feel like authors try to over complicate or make characters have too much trauma.

Ethan is a baker/chef and gets noticed by our fmc on a magazine and she's thinks hes not all what he says he is and the food is a gimmick. He's sweet and sensitive, completely different to what I normally look for in a MMC, but I enjoyed him so much.

All the side characters were all wholesome and charming, something you want in a small town/ Island. Definitely going to carry on with this series.

It has no spice/smut only suggested/ fade to black.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC.

This was a very sweet read, full of magic. Alex is a food journalist, very career driven, ambitious and diligent. Ethan is a mysterious baker, who's creations are sweet, hopeful, masterful and magical.

At first, Alex wasn't very impressed with Ethan, but Magnolia Cove took her breath away. Ethan's talent was obvious, but so were his secrets and she wouldn't let that stop her from writing her article.

Slowly, along with his bakery, Ethan wins Alex's heart and prepares to fight for her despite the concerns from his community, wanting a chance at something real.

I give this book 5 stars, truly deserved for this well written story. The story was flowing naturally and engaging from start to finish.

Thank you Net Galley for the E arc! Definitely a super cozy, quick read with no spice and not much depth. This story follows Alex a food writer who goes to magnolia cove ( small town with lots of magic) to write a story on Ethan’s bakery. She goes with the idea of writing a bad story about Ethan’s bakery until she get there and falls in love with him and the town. I didn’t love this story, while it was cozy it lacked depth and it felt super rushed the whole time. The characters were not all well flushed out and instead of show us a lot of things that happened between characters she would just tell us and I felt it was really lacking in that sense. If you like a quick cozy read this could be for you but I felt I need a bit more!

╰⊹ ࣪my opinion:

This book feels like home.

I’ve been in a slump before this book. I got bored of every book I picked up and only made it to about 20% before dnf’ing each one. But this book alone pulled me out of that slump. It was definitely a page turner.

I always love books that focus on sisterly love, even if it's for a brief moment. Alex and Missy are adorable and at times Alex reminded me of myself a lot.

There’s something about Noel Bailey’s writing style that I just enjoy so much. It reminds me of many of my favorite authors, and I really hope Noel gets the recognition she deserves!!

The main characters in this book are EXTREMELY likeable, even the minor characters who don’t really play a big role in the book.

Ethan is the most sunshine guy to grace the earth. 😭💛

Also, I need that dean book asap. 🙏

“Infatuation is when you’re attracted to someone. Maybe you had that with Sarah–fine. But love? Love is when you care about someone else’s wellbeing and happiness over your own. You love Alex, you big dummy, and you’re just going to stand here and give that up because you’re scared." This quote will forever live with me. I love Zoe so much.

Overall, this book was an amazing experience, and I'm so lucky to have been an early reader1 Thank you to the author and publisher for the opportunity!!

Missing these lovely characters already. 💔

Thank you so much Noel Bailey and team for allowing me to ARC read this book. I LOVED it! This was the perfect cute/cozy/warm read I needed to just melt my heart and bring me some joy. I’m not going to lie, at first I was a little sceptical of Alex’s negative outlook on love. I was worried that reading about it was going to get old fast, but honestly I feel like I fell in love with the characters in real time. Alex becoming so open to love and Ethan working through his issues fo allow someone in again after being hurt was so sweet. I was so engrossed with the book I didn’t want it to end. I had to download the bonus chapter at the end and I can’t wait to try out the recipes! I loved everything about this book including the side characters and can’t wait for book two.

Alexandra (Alex) is a serious food journalist. She writes really detailed and important articles for one of the highly regarded Gastronomy Eats. After the death of her parents, she’s been responsible for her sister, Missy, a talented cellist with expensive tuition fees. The desire to keep her sister from becoming riddled with debt, Alex is set on getting a promotion and pay increase. When she sees an article in a rival magazine focusing on a magician/baker who is extremely handsome, she’s convinced it has to be a gimmick. No one can be that good looking AND be a serious baker.

Ethan has a passion for creating delicious baked goods and a desire to share that passion with the world. But, after some tragic events, he is trapped in his small island town.

The two are brought together after Alex’s boss assigns her to write a critique of Ethan’s bakery. Once Alex arrives in Magnolia Cove, she is drawn to the mystery and magic of it all. Can Alex complete her assignment and secure the promotion she desperately needs? Will Ethan ever escape the confines of the Whimsical Whisk?

Whisked Away is the perfect magical Romcom. Bailey really created a mysterious, picturesque setting in Magnolia Cove. There’s something about the vivid descriptions that make me want to visit the island. I especially loved the meet-cute between the two main characters. I loved characters like Zoe, Jas, and Grammy Rae. Each character was well-developed and immediately likable (or disliked, ahem, Dean). There were a lot of parts that were literally “laugh out loud” funny. The ending was satisfying and made me smile. It’s Hallmark romance with a touch of magic. It’s just what I needed.

This one publishes May 21st. I highly recommend reading this one. Oh, and great news! It’s going to be a series!!! I’m looking forward to the next installment.

A small-town romance, rivals to lovers, with dual POVs set in a bakery with a hint of magic – what more could you ask for?

This book was a fun and quick read with lots of sweet moments; the romance is light and fluffy, so don't expect it to be too in-depth.

I would have preferred if the romance gradually got deeper and more emotional so I could have connected to the characters more. Regardless of this little note, I did have an enjoyable time reading it.

Whisked Away by Noel Bailey
(Magnolia Cove Magic Series - Book 1)

ARC Review: ⭐️4 (Access granted by NetGalley)
Completely Honest Review / Mild Spoilers

Romance + Magic = YES PLEASE.

Okay so… this book is a little out of my usual reading vibe but i absolutely loved it. This entire book felt like a warm hug! And honestly i will be reading the rest of the series no doubt about it because it genuinely felt so genuine and warm. It was refreshing.

This book has NO SPICE!!! So, if you are after a good romance read without any spice and absolute tension this one is definitely for you!

If this book had an anthem it would be Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls!

‘I just want you to know who I am’.

Ethan our cuddly bear, we know you wanted Alex to know who you were all along🥹

This story follows along our two main characters: Alex our FMC, who is a food critic/food journalist & Ethan our MMC who is a baker (a baker with magical powers).

This book has a magical twist in it where witches and warlocks are real and some of them live in a secluded island called Magnolia Cove. HOW CUTE IS THE NAME??? I would absolutely love to visit Magnolia Cove myself.

The story line was simply brilliant. Ethan our MMC was stripped of his main magical powers/they were controlled by the magic council because he chose love with a human in the real world and the ex girlfriend did not understand magic, she reacted terribly to him telling her his biggest secret. He thought he could trust her, he thought he loved her (until he met Alex, which he then later realised the love between them was the real kind of love, the forever kind of love). He exposed too much of his abilities in the real world and was sentenced to 10 years in ‘prison’ - Magnolia Cove, where he couldn’t leave beyond its borders, as well as being on ‘parole’ where the magic council basically watches his every move. Magnolia Cove is filled with magic, tourists and visitors don’t remember their visit, they just remember that they enjoyed their time there and are left with a sense of happiness when exposed to magic. Alex our FMC comes to Magnolia Cove to do a report on the Magical Whisk (his bakery). They connect, but Alex senses something is off the entire time and questions everything however, her feelings for Ethan are stronger than her doubts. She keeps extending her stay to spend more time with Ethan and the magic council is not happy about it. They threaten that if Ethan does not tell her to go home they will have to erase her memories like they do with the other tourists but Ethan fights for her memories because he does not want her to forget about him and what they share.

Overall, I really loved this book it really felt like a warm hug and it was such a cosy romance without spice and just genuine tension and chemistry between our two main characters and I absolutely loved every chapter. This book just gave me butterflies and had me giggling and kicking my feet in the air in complete honestly.

Gosh this book was honestly amazing. I loved it. I will be going back to Magnolia Cove in the future because it was a beautiful experience.

The only thing I wish it had more of is the magic aspect, I wish it played a bigger part in the book but believe me when I say the romance alone was totally worth it. It was a beautiful book and an amazing story. Noel is a brilliant story teller and I don’t think my heart will ever truly leave Magnolia Cove, it’s imbedded itself in every fold of my brain.

Happy reading!!!

Again, thank you NetGalley for the ARC copy I am so so grateful for being able to have read this book before its publication date.

Whimsical, magical, nostalgic...

Alex and Ethan were a dream to read about in this novel by Noel Bailey.
Starting with Alex and her high-demand, productive-driven life with a dose of responsibility (we've all been there as first daughters), you can tell she needs a break! And, when it comes with a break that includes a hot baker, beach, and romantic seaside town -- why not?

Ethan is a dreamy MMC right from the start. You know he's had some trouble in the magical world but you're not sure why. The twist at the end of how magical he is took me by total surprise.
I loved all the side characters in Magnolia Cove and I think they added to the charm of the entire novel.

I have been given an arc of this book in exchange for my honest review
My only issue with the book is I wish it was longer and more detailed on the magical side of Magnolia Cove. I know there are other books coming in the series so I hope we get to see more of the magic and more of Ethan and Alex.

The book is everything you expect in the best way possible. Charming, magical, sweet and comforting. I felt like I wanted to abandon my life and go live with all the characters. Everything about the book is warm and sweet. Left me craving for more. Small Town romance isn't even my favorite genre but this was excellent. If you love dessert and homey characters with a smooth not too complicated story this should be you next read.

Such a charming book. It is the story of Alex, an food journalist that is very cynical and does not belive in magic, and the baker Ethan that have to hide his true self but will made Alex fall for Magnolia village.
Sweet cakes, an enchanted small village and the perfect slow burn romance. This story is much more that people find love, it is about accept the difference and live in one community when you can be truly home.

This is a delightful confection of a novel that serves a small town cozy romance where we are whisked to a small-town bakery with a pinch of magic. We blend dual perspectives from Alex, a food critic and journalist, and Ethan, the charming small town baker. Alex is set on writing a scathing exposé about a local bakery in Magnolia Cove, however, her plans are kneaded into a different shape when Ethan and the town charm her.

The writing includes a baker’s dozen of baking metaphors and culinary imagery to build the setting of our story. The romance is very light and fluffy, so don’t go into the small town expecting anything deep.

If you enjoyed Legends and Lattes but wished there was a bit more romantic tension and a bit less poetic description of food or plot, then this book is perfect for you.

While I did have a fun time and did enjoy the read, there were a couple things I will note. While it was fun, the romance never got very deep and emotional, so I didn't get into supporting their romance any deeper than liking them. You can get bogged down with the excessive use of the word "magical" and the idea of "something in his past" being brought up repeatedly with so little context. Spoiler for the ending: the whole shapeshifter thing really came out of nowhere right at the end and stayed a relevant topic for like 3 seconds rather than actually being useful to the story. Leaving him as a powerful sorcerer would have been sufficient.

Regardless of the couple of notes, I did have an enjoyable time reading it. I think it is fun and very small town so it reminds me of stories like a hallmark movie. The preview for the next book gives us a hint that we follow the small town librarian and books which sounds cute. I would pick it up!

The book is well written, but definitely predictable. I would have enjoyed it more if it was not rushed, both the romance and the end. Alex accepted everything way too fast, considering she found out the truth in the last few chapters only.

Whisked Away by Noel Bailey is book #1 in the Magnolia Cove Magic series. This is a small town, rivals to lovers, sweet and magical romance.

Alex is a food journalist for the acclaimed Gastronomy Eats, working hard to support her sister and avoiding love. She is assigned to expose the small-town bakery in Magnolia Cove where the handsome and charming baker Ethan Hart is serving up delicious pastries. Alex knows that this article is the key to a promotion and career boost and she is determined to see this through, however the small town charm and magic of Magnolia Cove and Ethan get under her skin. Thank you @victoryeditingngc , @authornoelbailey , @netgalley for sending the Advance Reader's Copy of this book.

From the very first page, Whisked Away wraps you up like a warm bakery on a rainy day—inviting, comforting, and just a little bit magical. What starts as a mission to uncover the truth behind a small-town bakery quickly transforms into a charming, emotionally rich story about love, ambition, and the unexpected ways a community can change your heart.

Alexandra Sinclair arrives in Magnolia Cove armed with cynicism, ambition, and a clear purpose: write a scathing exposé that will launch her career to the next level. But Magnolia Cove—and Ethan Hart, its infuriatingly perfect baker—have other plans. Ethan isn’t just a skilled pastry chef; he’s the soul of a town that runs on cinnamon rolls, whispered secrets, and quiet magic. His bakery is more than a business—it’s a haven. And soon, the hard-edged reporter finds herself entangled in more than just flaky croissants.

Noel Bailey writes with a wonderful blend of humour and heart. The banter between the leads is sharp and playful, and the romance that simmers beneath stolen glances and baking lessons is irresistible. But beneath the sweet surface, there’s real emotional depth: a story about learning to let go of rigid expectations, choosing vulnerability, and daring to build a life that feels real—rather than just impressive on paper.

The characters from this story has been mentioned here – The Whimsical Whisk buzzes with people this morning-the usuals, like Mrs. Delehay, who always brings her Pomeranian in her handbag, which I pretend not to notice. Rachel and Grant, who still act like they're newly in love on their morning muffin date. Or Charlie Luck, who's eight and has a bigger sweet tooth than allowance. My assistant, Zoe, slips him freebies by the end of the week, and I pretend not to notice that too. Dean Markham, a warlock-one of the most important members of magical society, since they create the wards that keep humans from noticing magic in pocket towns like Magnolia Cove. And they have the magic to stop monsters.

There are some shops which has been mentioned in this novel – A quaint flower shop - Petal Pushers, A Novel Idea - The Bookstore, Tom Bryson - The owner of the bait and tackle shop.

The setting of Magnolia Cove practically breathes, brought to life with cosy detail and colourful side characters who add warmth and flavour to every scene. And the baking descriptions? Mouth-watering. Be prepared to crave vanilla, cinnamon, and emotional catharsis in equal measure.

If you love stories where ambition meets heart, where love rises slowly like dough in the sun, and where the true magic lies in human connection, Whisked Away is the perfect escape. It’s witty, romantic, and as satisfying as the final bite of your favourite dessert. Highly recommended for anyone who’s ever fallen in love across a kitchen counter.

Whisked Away is a magical and engaging story that completely won me over. As I started to read, I thought I’d give it a solid four-star rating, but somewhere in the second half of the book, some sentences were so beautifully written I had to stop and say out loud, “Damn. That was really good.” By the end, giving it five stars felt like the only option.

The story follows Alex, a journalist reluctantly sent to write an exposé on a faraway small-town bakery. Desperate for money, she agrees to the assignment, but something about the town feels a little too perfect. As she begins to investigate, she unexpectedly finds herself falling for both the town and someone who lives there.

This book made me feel a full range of emotions. I laughed at the wit and sarcasm, I cried during dramatic moments, and I connected deeply with the characters. The town’s residents are introduced gradually, making all of them memorable without being overwhelming. Each of them had a purpose, but my personal favorites were Zoe, who’s both funny and wise, and Alex herself, who goes through a heartfelt transformation—from being career-focused to allowing herself to feel something, to fall in love. I found myself really rooting for her.

The romance was one of the most realistic I’ve read. There was no forced setup. Alex and Ethan meet, they talk, connect and fall in love. At first, it felt almost too simple, but then I realized how realistic it was. Sometimes people just meet and connect, so it was refreshing to see that in the book.

The writing style really caught my attention. As a non-native English speaker, I often see short and simple sentences in books. But that was not the case here. I was genuinely surprised and fascinated to see longer and so nicely written sentences. I’ll certainly read more from the author in the future.

One small issue I had was wishing for a bit more description, especially of the visual appearances of the characters and the looks exchanged by Alex and Ethan. But everything else was really good. Even the short intimate scene felt genuine and necessary to the story. I also liked the playlist—actually listening to it while I was reading, which almost never happens to me. It really matched the story’s mood perfectly.

I’d highly recommend Whisked Away to anyone, because everyone needs some magic in their lives, and I felt it while reading this book. If you’re a fan of small-town romances and low fantasy, it might be a perfect match for you.

📖 Title: Whisked Away- Magnolia Cove #1

✍🏾 Author: Noel Bailey

📅Publication date: 5/22/25 | Read: 10/10/25

📃 Format: e-Book 239 pgs.

Genre:
*Contemporary Romance

Tropes:
*magic/warlocks/witches/shifters
*small town
*grumpy H
*writer h/baker H
*hidden truths

👆🏾POV: 1st person dual

⚠️TW: uncontrolled magic

🌎 Setting: Magnolia Cove

Summary: Alexandra wants the senior editor position at her magazine as she financially supports her younger sister in college. She is assigned to spend 2 weeks in Magnolia Cove to write an expose on Ethan Hart. She believes he's a fraud using magic tricks for tourists and boost his business until she's immersed in the quaint small-town life with Ethan.

👩🏾 Heroine: Alexandra "Alex" Sinclair-28, a NY food critic @ Gastronomy Eats going for a senior editor promotion to financially support her younger sister as she has since their parents died. Her dream is to go freelance and restart her dessert blog "Tell Me Something Sweet."

👨🏾 Hero: Ethan Hart-a magician who owns bakery @ The Whimsical Whisk, has inhuman strength and fighting intuition. Got his heart broken in the human world, went berserk, and is now paying the price on probation w/ the Witches and Warlocks Council.

🎭 Other Characters:

*Missy-20, Alex's sister who is a college student and musician
*Tish-Alex's best friend, runs a teashop Celestial Sips
*Dean Markham-a warlock who keeps the wards to protect their magical community from the outside world. He punishes rule-breakers to prison pocket communities. He serves as Ethan's probation officer
*Sarah Callahan-Ethan's ex-girlfriend
*Zoe-Ethan's assistant
*Vivian Ellison-Alex's editor
*Marcus Blackwood-owns the bookstore in town- A Novel Idea
*Mia-works for Marcus @ bookstore, Zoe's wife

🤔 My Thoughts: This was a cute and cozy romance. City girl Alex came to reveal Ethan's bakery as a ploy but fell for him. Ethan was banished to Magnolia Cove 10 years ago after scaring his ex-girlfriend with his magic. Dean was tough on him trying to protect their cul-de-sac from non-magical humans. Alex was tough on herself. She felt a responsibility to Missy at the detriment of her own happiness. Both sacrificed career and community to be together-how could you not love that!

Whisked Away follows a dual point of view, with main characters Alex Sinclair, a renowned journalist heading to the cozy town of Magnolia Cove to uncover the secrets of their magic-like bakery, and Ethan Hart, the baker of the Whimsical Whisk and the gentlest, sweetest man with selflessness ingrained in his bones.

The sense of home and love poured into this novel is so sweet. It’s the type of book you read to feel that warm feeling settle in your chest and leave you smiling your ears off. Alex and Ethan were such lovable characters, and utilizing the dual point of view was perfect for this plot. It made it well-rounded and gave the readers a chance to experience both of their characters' arcs to the fullest. The imagery for both place settings and the more baker-themed descriptions was lovely to read; you can truly envision Magnolia Cove and the desserts that Ethan was baking, almost as though you can taste them. The plot sucks you in because of the potential disaster of it, but what makes you stay are the sweet characters that are supported by great secondary characters that fill out of the world. The writing has a magical quality to it that fits in with the novel’s premise, too.

There are moments within the inner thoughts of the characters where points were repetitive (being told multiple times what their inner conflict was), instead of experiencing them doing things. The timeline was a little hard to follow because the book is more fast-paced, and if we spent more time with these characters in situations we are told about but don’t experience, their romance would feel a little more believable. Nonetheless, the chemistry and banter are still all there and nice to read.

I recommend this book to people who want an easy, magical romance that tugs at their heartstrings. I left the novel very interested in what the author will do with the future of the series, so I am excited to read more!

Whisked Away by Noel Bailey is a sugary, slow-burn romance with a sharp wit and a generous dollop of heart. It takes the classic big-city-girl-meets-small-town-boy trope and folds in just enough warmth, sass, and cinnamon-scented charm to make it rise above the fluff.

Our protagonist arrives in Magnolia Cove with one goal: expose the local bakery and secure the promotion of her dreams. What she doesn’t expect is Ethan Hart—a maddeningly attractive baker with a penchant for overpriced vanilla and a smile that could derail even the most hardened career woman. As she gets drawn into the bakery’s world—a place where gossip flies faster than flour—her cynical journalistic instincts start to soften, one perfectly baked croissant at a time.

Bailey’s writing is delightfully self-aware. The narrator’s inner monologue brims with humor, especially when she groans at her own swooning over Ethan’s pastries (and, okay, his biceps too). But beneath the banter and bakery puns, Whisked Away has a sincere emotional core. The townspeople aren’t just background noise—they’re a lively ensemble that gives Magnolia Cove the authentic feel of a place you might actually miss when the story ends.

That said, the plot treads familiar ground: cynical outsider arrives, gets charmed, and faces the inevitable “Can I have love and ambition?” crisis. While the predictability is softened by Bailey’s strong voice and charming details, some readers might crave a few more surprises in the mix. The “bakery has magic” thread, while intriguing, feels underdeveloped—it’s more sparkle than substance.

Still, this novel succeeds in being exactly what it promises: a cozy, heartwarming, and thoroughly readable romance that pairs well with coffee and something sweet. If you’re a fan of enemies-to-lovers vibes with a side of sticky buns, Whisked Away will hit the spot.

Alexandra Sinclair is a journalist who writes for Gastronomy Eats, a well known publication who are known for their in depth reviews, love of put of the way foodie gems and recipes with heart, but they are losing ot in popularity to the glossier magazines and so Alex is sent on a mission to debunk one of the articles in a particular glossy mag about the Whimsical Whisk.

Ethan Hart is a man with a hidden past and a talent for baking, so when he ends up in Magnolia Cove, he knows that opening a bakery is the right thing to do and it doesn't help that he is really good at it, perfecting his recipes and infusing them with a little magic, and when he finds out that about the interview, he is both excited and anxious because of the biggest secret his home hides.

This is where the fun begins and the magic starts, as soon as she steps into Magnolia Cove, Alex sees the picture perfect quaintness of the town and how everyone there is overly friendly, but she cannot deny that it had a certain homey feeling as well. This is increased when she steps into the Whimsical Whisk for the first time and is assaulted by Ethan and a tray of pastries, not the best first impression, but then again, which ones are?

As the days pass, Alex becomes increasingly determined to uncover why the town seems a little odd and why there isn't much in the history books about it, not to mention being sucked into the atmosphere around Ethan and the baking lessons he gives her. Will she be able to keep up that professional exterior and write the article which will keep both her and her sister afloat and following their dreams, or will she be the downfall of this community and those within it? This is a sweet romance all wrapped up in a glorious confection as secrets, revelations and magic surround you in this flavour filled story.

A magically sweet story - Alexandra (AKA Alex) is sour on love after being left to care for her sister when her parents passed. They loved their family so much they didn't throw themselves into their careers and make heaps of moolah. And now Alex is drowning in bills, a large chunk tied to her sister's education. Writing an article to debunk the charm of Magnolia Cove and its "magical" bakery will give her the boost in income she desperately needs. Ethan's blue eyes and model physique will not sway her from her assignment. But the small town has something Alex can't quite put her finger on, an ethereal feel that lies just beneath its surface.

Ethan is torn between his attraction for Alex and his duty to protect the magical town's secrets. The lovely City Girl strutting around in designer gear is a danger to his heart, his very freedom if he reveals too much. He made a mistake before and there will be even more severe consequences if the Council has to clean up after him again. He'll enjoy her company while it lasts, knowing he can never share his true self with her.

This is an enjoyable read with an undercover magical community working to mask its existence from the human world. Ethan and Alex are a great match, two foodies finding comfort in each other even as they work at cross purposes. They fall in love under the watchful eyes of the townsfolk, their closeness equally cheered and feared as the townies holds their breath lest Alex discover the truth. A sweet story with great MCs and extras (Zoe is the best!) who make me long for arms to hold me and a really big cupcake. I look forward to more in this series.

Alexandra (Alex) Sinclair is a well-respected food reviewer for an established magazine “Gastronomy Eats.” Her editor thinks they need to branch out and review more whimsical places. For instance, a recent review of a bakery in Magnolia Cove has received great ratings. Alex is skeptical as she feels it is a fluff review. However, her editor insists that she travel to Magnolia Cove and stay for a couple of weeks and find out what the hype is all about regarding this bakery.

The Whimsical Whisk is owned and operated by Ethan Hart. He is a handsome man and well liked in the community. The baked goods are said to be so good that they are magical. When Alex tastes some items, she too is amazed at how delicious everything is. Getting to know Ethan, his friends, and co-workers is fun for Alex and she finds herself relaxing and enjoying herself.

Ethan is attracted to Alex but is concerned about getting too close to her as he has recently been hurt by another woman. He is hiding a secret about himself and the people of Magnolia Cove. They have magical powers but must keep this secret. As Alex becomes more ingrained into the community, she wants to stay. Could she be falling in love with Ethan?

I absolutely adored this book. It’s clean and fun and the food sounds so yummy. As I don’t usually read sci-fi or fantasy genres, I was wondering how I would react to this story. However, I hugged it to me with both arms. What fun it would be to visit Magnolia Cove and stop for a pastry at The Whimsical Whisk. Enjoy!

This story has a sweet and cozy feel, and transports us to a little perfect and magical small town making us feel like we just steped into an hallamark movie with a feel good kind of vibe.

Ethan is the perfect main male character. He is sweet, loving, kind, attentive, gentlemanlike... so swoony! He is a baker in a small town. He has magic and uses it to help bring goog feelings. He needs to keep his ability a secret and is bound by the town to never relay the magic they all have. He wants the world to know his baking and be recognised even if in a small little town.
Alex is a strong and driven woman, who has had to be responsible for taking care of her sister. She applies herself in her job and puts some dreams aside to be the best at what she does.
She is a food critique, and when some news arrive about a perky little bakery in a small town that is described as magical, her boss sends her there to destroy that mith and relay the truth.
But what if all that what was said was true? What if the bakery, the town, the people and even Ethan were the real thing? They look and sound so perfect in her eyes! But some secrets are being held, and how will she react to them and how will the town react when they know she discovered their most precious secret?

Both main characters were so easy to relate to and to grow fond of. We could understand their anguish and both their dreams and couldn't hope more for them to succed and to find all they were looking for.
Also, the side characters were sweet, conforting and even meddling but in the best way possible.
I really enjoyed this story and hopefjlly I'll return to this small magical town soon.

Mangolia Cove is like coming home, it is a place full of magic and love and moments that make your heart flutter.

Whisked away is full of laughs and tears and overcoming your fears and inner monsters. I loved the FMC Alex as she arrives in Mangolia cove as a food journalist. To interview the Firefighter-calendar-worthy Ethan that looks a little too good to be true to be running a BAKERY?! She sets out to write a critical review but ends up in the magical place that is Mangolia Cove. And special shout-out the the absolute VIBE that is Zoe. Her upbeat take no shit character was amazing and I love her!

I love that all of Noel Bailey’s Mangolia Cove books have similar tropes and themes, they all share that feeling of a true warm hug. They have swoon worthy moments but each are unique in the character’s personalities and character growth! Each have their own demons and own struggles and motivations.

I actually read Love by the book first, the second book in this series, as I got it as an ARC! They are interconnected standalones. I have now read the prequel and book one But each and everyone of them have taken a place in my heart! They all give me a profound feeling of hope and love.

And you can’t beat a well written love story! With heartache and longing mixed with a bit of magic and romance 🫶

And might I add THE RECIPES?! I Can’t wait to try some of them! Each book has a cute playlist AND a recipe or two at the end based on the characters from the book!
Whisked away is special in the sense that you get a whole bonus book! With a bonus chapter, killer music playlist AND so many amazing recipes.
