“Give me those tears, pretty songbird. I want to see you cry. Give me all that pain and grief, so I can take it away.”LAVINIA
I was ready to end it all. I had sung my last song and taken my last bow. But then he came—the man who looks like a monster but saves me from myself and a life on the run.

Taking me to a mental facility, he reduces my world to four padded walls and a long string of illicit therapies.

But despite his painful methods, Dorin gives me something I thought I’d lost forever. Hope. His cruelty silences the monsters in my head, and his darkness drowns out my own.

But something isn’t right. The pieces don’t fit. And soon, I’ll discover a truth so devastating it will drag me straight back to the nightmare I barely escaped.

DORIN
Kidnapping the girl with the angelic voice was supposed to be simple. Lock her away, break her, and sell her.

But nothing goes as planned.

When I break into her apartment, I walk in on a brutal scene—her in a tub, the water red with blood, a knife to her wrist.

She thinks I‘m her savior when I lift her out and bandage her wounds. And when I put her in a padded cell, she thinks I put her in a mental facility.

I can’t help but feed the illusion. For the first time in my brutal life, I don’t want to break. I want to heal.

But eventually, the shadows of the dungeon catch up to us, and I have to make a choice—protect my existence or risk everything for the one thing I was never meant to have.

This is the third book in The Enslaved Series. It can be read as a standalone, but it is recommended that you read Take Me and Break Me first. This book is extremely dark and explicit and deals with some heavy subject matter. Please check the content warning on the inside first and read with caution.

Ella Jacobs

Ella Jacobs writes dark and kinky romance. Her books all center around Dom/sub dynamics, ranging from BDSM relationships with light dub con to pitch-black captor/captive stories with Stockholm syndrome and heavy non con.

What all her stories have in common is the emotional depth that makes them feel very raw and real. They will pull at all your heartstrings, maybe gut you and shock you, and take you through the emotional wringer.

Ella lives in Northern Europe, where she has been part of the BDSM community for many years. She lives her own age-gap romance with a stern, loving Dominant, who is always ready for some character analysis and rarely gets jealous when she falls in love with her fictional men.

Besides writing, Ella loves to play music and travel.

Absolutely loved this book! It hooks you right from the start. So much so that I devoured it all in one sitting! The emotions that were put behind this story are clearly present ( I might have cried a little at a part). Just so so good!

If you thought Break Me and Take Me were tough to read, think again…..because Heal Me hurts só much more!!
Ella Jacobs added trigger warnings you really need to heed before you consider reading…..and while you might be able read this without the other 2,i do suggest you read them to enhance the experience.
Because we already met Lavinia, and we already know Dorin, and we already saw some of the things that happen to her…..
And even though i knew those things, and even though i braced for those moments, they still hit me with a sledgehammer…..right where it hurts the most!

Lavinia is at the lowest point in her life,on the run, after surviving the most vile man you can imagine.
Her mother and little sister died before he conned his way into her life, but after suffering through his abuse, she knew it wouldn’t take long before he killed her…..and she ran the first chance she got.
But being on the run, having to constantly look over your shoulder grows tiring, and she’s ready to give up.
She’ll sing one more time, and say goodbye to life when she’s home.

Dorin is a hard man,one that knows he’ll be alone for his entire life, not worthy of anyone to love.
His life consists of taking women, and training them before they’re sold.
His colleague,Dax,has grown soft, and kept one for himself, but Dorin doesn’t see that happening to him.
Until Lavinia…..hearing the Songbird sing gives him the peace he could never find before.
But when he’s ready to collect her,she shocks the hell out of him…..he nearly was too late!
The feelings she evokes in him at that very moment, stay with him,and he finds himself tempted to break his own rules.

Lavinia is convinced Dorin saved her,and tries to heal her,and he goes along with the illusion.
Until it’s,again, nearly too late and a colleague with a grudge harms her.
When Lavinia finally starts to talk to Dorin again, and he doesn’t give her the answer to her most important question, she’s done.
If what he says will happen,it might as well happen right now!
Only, there’s one thing neither of them counted on……the man she was running from has found her.
What happens then,is heartbreaking…..

I barely survived Lavinia and Dorin’s story,it had só many emotions,só many heartbreaking moments.
But in the end,i feel happy with where both ended up,even if it wasn’t the flowery happy after romance dictates.
It was what felt good for them, where they were happy that mattered, and that in turn made me happy too.
I ám however left with a question…….when are we getting Mikhail’s story???

Just so we’re clear here, I need to take Ella OMK and redden her a$$ for this one…I knew it was going to pull on my heart strings cos ya know songbird but this, this was nearly, nearly tissue worthy!

Dorin, falls for Lavinia but doesn’t realise how much…‘tis’ men for you, don’t know a good thing’. Her past is ingrained into her brain and on her body, her life seemed worthless until Dorin saved her. But he is no white knight, she thinks she is in a mental facility, whilst Dorin keeps up the facade by using different methods of ‘therapy’. Until the lie is broken in a way that further breaks Lavinia, the turmoil that is her life doesn’t stop there, her soul is destroyed and she is left wingless.I shall give you no more than this 🫣 I will say, I didn’t think Dorin would turn out to be such a teddy bear 😈

As with all Ella’s stories that I’ve read, the writing is great, the story unfolding and keeping your head in that book until you finish it. You should read Take Me and Break Me before this one, as it gives context to the story. For me this was milder on the training side than the other two but also more heartfelt.

And from me a super fast roundup:
What is lost can be found, what is quiet can be sound.
What you need is not around, what you want is to be bound. 🖤

Twisted, Dark

Oh my goodness—what did I just read? This book is nothing short of a descent into darkness. Dorin is not your typical charming prince swooping in to save the day. Instead, he takes the concept of therapy and twists it into something deeply unsettling and emotionally jarring. It’s haunting, disturbing, and absolutely unforgettable.

Then there’s Lavinia. She’s broke, vulnerable, and desperately hoping Dorin is her savior. Watching her cling to that hope is utterly heartbreaking. Her story is raw and real, and if you’re anything like me, you’ll need a box of tissues nearby.

This book isn’t for the faint-hearted, but it is fantastic. I couldn’t put it down. It will crawl under your skin and stay there. If you love dark, emotionally complex stories that challenge your expectations, this one’s for you.

Oh, this story was heartbreaking. My heart ached for Lavinia.
This book had so many heartbreaking moments. I cried for Lavinia. The poor girl was so lost and broken. She needed someone to heal and hold her.
Dorin was so sweet to her. Despite being so dark, Lavinia brought out the best in him.
This book was amazing. I loved it.

Enslaved series book 3 (interconnected standalones)

The Enslaved series contains morally grey/black characters and it’s important to know this beforehand and read the trigger warnings. I mean it.

Lavinia’s life has been tedious and when she thought a knight in shining armor discovered her and promised her to make her singing dreams come true, she met the end of his blade instead. One day, she decides it’s enough and becomes a girl on the run up until Dorin takes a liking to her one night at a shady bar where she performed. He k1dnaps her and for the first time in his life, he wants to heal instead of break.

Dorin is irrevocably black, he does questionable and irreparable things to others. He does questionable things to Lavinia as well, but in this case, he cares about her. Let it be very clear that it’s deeply messed up, yet both of them find solace in each other. I honestly love the Enslaved series, for me it scratches the itch just right. Ella is gifted at depicting mental states so well, whenever I read a book from her, I’m engrossed in it and fly trough it in no time. The dom/sub dynamics are also top notch. Do I always agree on what’s happening? No. Sometimes, I just want to scream into the void. Does it make the story and the characters even more interesting? Yes. Absolutely.

We got to see glimpses of Lavinia and Dorin in Break Me that got me undeniably hyped up about them, and Heal Me did not disappoint whatsoever.

Thanks to Ella for the arc!

oh my gosh, this was one heck of a ride. The amount of times I cried reading a book less than 200 pages (or a novella), may have just reached a new record. First CHECK ALL THE TRIGGER WARNING! because this book is DARK, it’s not even dark is PITCH BLACK, but damn I loved it. In case you don’t listen and don’t read the warnings, this book is about Lavina, who almost ends her own life but instead gets kidnapped by Dorin who becomes infatuated with her. She thinks he is her saviour but in reality he took her to be trained then s0ld into a sl@ve @uction. And of course he’s obsessed with her at first sight and decides that he wants to heal her, hence the name of the book, with odd therapies (electrotherapy? But in an intimate part of the body). As they develop feelings for each other, Dorin refuses to accept them while Lavina wants him but is more wary as she starts to find out more and more about the ‘facility’. Suicidal ideations are really prominent throughout the book and are a huge part of the plot. This book just keeps getting crazier and crazier, darker and darker, and it was a heck of a ride. I still loved it though, so many plot twists I was stunned by and amazing characters and dynamics. I feel like some of the mental health rep was good, but please don’t use their methods. Either way amazing book, I give it a 5/5

This is a dark read with many possible triggers, so if you have any, please take the warnings seriously. While this is book three of the series, and each book features a different couple, I would highly suggest reading at least book two prior. There are things that happen there that play a role in this book. The two take place on the same timetable.

She trusted the wrong person earlier in her life and has been living in a nightmare ever since, but that's about to change because she's decided to end it all for good. He discovers her by chance one night while in a dingy bar. Her voice captivated him. When he plans to make his move, he ends up saving her, but his lifestyle isn't all that different from the life she was trying to escape. Will he break her for good or will they be able to heal each other? Or will her past come back and finish her off? Both characters have demons in their past that fuels their behaviors (both good and bad.) There's a lot of heartache from that past. There are a few incidents that take place that have irrevocable consequences for the characters. While the MMC isn't necessarily a good guy, and calling him a Hero seems ludicrous, he does play the role with the FMC. (Though he isn't a White Knight.)

Needless to say, this is intended for mature readers. There is sexual content, violence (a little blood and gore,) torture, physical abuse, trafficking and more. It reads easily and the story flows smoothly. The story has a poetic vibe about it and despite the darkness and sometimes depravity, there is some beauty to it. It alternates between POVs.

I don't know what it says about me that this series is up there in my top reads this year, but you know what I don't think I really care.

This is a pitch black, very much not for everyone, mind boggling experience, so much so that I've been trying to tell myself I didn't enjoy it because of the subject matter but I've been lying to myself, because my thoughts keep returning to scenes from this series. The first book gives a good baseline to the atmosphere, but book 2 and this one just kept on amping up the story. Yet I wouldn't recommend skipping any or reading out of order because I think that would diminish enjoyment of the story.

Ella Jacobs makes you question your sanity with her storytelling in the best way possible. I was surprised by the emotions that were brought forth while reading this; I cried way more than I thought I would, and there were even some genuine moments of smiling from the unexpected... beauty I guess that I found while reading this. Once I started there was no turning back, I had to know what happened next, and I was in no way disappointed.

Again DO NOT READ before going through the trigger warnings and thinking about whether this is for you or not, as this is not just your average dark romance. But if you're interested in questioning your morals to the highest degree possible, dive in and unearth a story that will take more than just your innocence, it will break your heart. Though stick around and you may just find yourself healing in the end.

Heal Me plunges headfirst into the darkest corners of trauma, obsession, and twisted salvation. It’s not a light read—it’s raw, brutal, and unapologetically disturbing. But for readers who seek out morally gray characters and psychological intensity, this story has the potential to grip hard and not let go.

The dual POV format, switching between Lavinia and Dorin, sets up a psychologically tense and deeply conflicted narrative. Lavinia, a broken singer on the brink of suicide, and Dorin, a captor with a conscience, form the emotional core of a story that walks a razor’s edge between horror and redemption.

The premise is deeply unsettling. Dorin’s original intention—to break and sell Lavinia—casts him as an undeniable villain. But the story appears to aim for a redemption arc that is both complicated and controversial. Lavinia’s belief that she’s being rescued, when she’s actually being manipulated, opens a floodgate of psychological intrigue and moral ambiguity.

This book isn’t just dark romance—it’s pitch black and must be approached with trigger warnings and the understanding that redemption, in this story, is not clean, easy, or guaranteed. If you’re drawn to stories that wrestle with the grotesque, where love grows from blood-soaked cracks, this could be a haunting, unforgettable read.

This is my honest review in exchange for an ARC 🖤

As always, Ella Jacobs delivered another unforgettable reading experience! Heal Me is not for the faint of heart, this book is dark, raw, and emotionally intense. If you’re sensitive to certain content, I strongly recommend checking the trigger warnings before diving in. That said, for those who can handle it, this story is an emotional rollercoaster in the best way possible.

Ella has a truly unique gift for weaving darkness and beauty together. Her storytelling is astonishing, intense yet elegant, devastating yet meaningful. Heal Me will pull you in, break your heart, and leave you both confused and deeply moved. It challenges you emotionally and morally, often making you feel conflicted.

This book is heavy, yes, but it’s also powerful. Have your tissues ready, because the heartbreak hits hard. Ella Jacobs continues to prove she’s one of a kind in the dark romance genre.

I was selected as an ARC reader and am leaving this review voluntarily.

I wonder if she knows the color gray🤭🤭🤭...nope.. I don't think she does!! It's a hard book to read...it hit me hard on the first chapter..got teary eye by the end of the book I was just bawling... ARC Review: Heal Me by Ella Jacobs🖤
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“Give me those tears, pretty songbird. I want to see you cry. Give me all that pain and grief, so I can take it away.”
When I read the ARC for "Break Me" I was introduced to Lavinia and Dorin and I wanted to know more of their story. Well wish granted because "Heal Me" focuses on their story and it's dark and raw. Dorin follows Lavinia and finds her in the bathroom of her home and carries her away to what Lavinia thinks is a "psychiatric hospital" to help her... but reality is he's kidnapping her to sell her...the story is tragic and beautifully written but check your trigger warnings. I loved getting more indepth with this couple and how they healed each other. My heart broke for Lavinia several times throughout the book but I loved Dorin's urge to heal her and protect her.

Before I start. Please don't go in blind to this book, check the trigger warnings and heed Ella's content warning. This is pitch black.

I could only describe it as an emotional tornado.

Having known some of Dorin and Lavinas story from Break Me, Experiencing it from their POV was honestly heartbreaking.

The rise and fall of Lavinas emotions were so beautifully orchestrated I found myself screaming along with her.

Dorin is a whole different person with Lavinia than the one he shows to the outside world. The strange bond they have is so unique.

I love how this story is so different to Break Me and Take Me, all 3 books have very different relationship dynamics.

Special mention to Rex (Dorins dog) for being the goodest boy ever! And probably being the only character to not give Mikhail grief and stress the man out 😂

What can I say about this book.. if you love a good abduction/stockholm syndrome read, this is a story for you. The story is focused on dorin the mmc who is more than a little unhinged. He’s brooding, over the top protective and wildly off the charts aggressive. Then you have little Lavinia whose songs seem just as sad as the life she is living going through strings of continuous battering but then somehow manages to fall for her abductor and tormentor that puts her through the ringer. This story has a heavy and thick plot of abuse and insight into human trafficking. While I thoroughly enjoyed this read there were some heavier elements that made it a little hard to get through but a great story altogether. Please Please, check the trigger warnings before immersing yourself.

Another great book by Ella and addition to her enslaved series!

I love how it seamlessly links into book 2 as the stories run concurrently which must have been a challenge to write

The issues dealt with by the Lavina are deep and Dorian is portrayed so differently to how we see him in the prior books which was a good surprise. Wasn’t expecting to like him at all but was definitely rooting for him by the end.

As usual spice was 5 stars and love Ella’s writing style. Couldn’t put this down and really hope we get another instalment in this series which keeps on giving

Holy frog this was one emotional rollercoaster. Definitely my favorite book in the series by far.
I was in a HUGE reading slump and reading this arc had me finishing it in 1,5 days. Now I’m having book hangover 😅

This story is so raw and pure, and violent and peaceful, and heartbreaking and healing….
10 out of 10 read. Extremely dark, disturbing at times and heart wrenching , but so worth it!

Bravo for this splendid example of pitch black romance!

Ps. I expect an update on good boi Rex in the next book 😇

This was VERY dark but good! I really love Ella’s writing, she’s such a good writer.

This follows Lavinia and Dorin. Lavinia running from a man who abused her, she’s working in random bars and clubs singing and Dorin is at one of clubs because he’s there to kidnap her. What happens next is not what he has planned and that’s where the story starts.

The ending is VERY satisfying.

Please check trigger warning because this is very dark but ends with an HEA.

All I can say is wow! Ella Jacobs has done it again creating a story that absolutely shattered me before it putting me back together, I love that Ella Jacobs can do this with her writing. Heal me is the perfect addition to the Enslaved Series. Before diving in I do recommend checking the TW/CW as this is a very dark and twisted tale with topics that may be sensitive to some. But if you are okay with them I totally recommend checking out this book.

Heal me is the third in this pitch black series. Is it truly pitch black, that's open to interpretation. It is definitely dark, with themes that most people need to check their triggers, but I absolutely loved every moment of it. Dorin is completely unhinged. Psychopath to the max, with no recognition of what he is doing is wrong, and in true Stockholm style, Lavinia falls for him hook line and sinker. His obsession begins early, and it takes him a while to understand what it truly is. Amazing story, so well written, with plenty of detail and a twisted romance for the romantic at heart.

This is my favorite of the 3. I thought it was going to be the second book in this series about Dax and Emma. I could not forsee how Ella Jacobs was going to make me like Dorin...well she did. As much as I disliked him in the first 2, he became my favorite in this 3rd book. 1. For his care for Lavinia and 2. He has a dog. He showed his humanity in this book and it won me over. I really, really like Dorin's character development in this 3rd book and really enjoyed reading a happy ending.

I was not expecting to get so emotional reading this book but I did! I cried so much, idk but the story was honestly so freaking amazing. This is book 3 in the Enslaved series and each book follows a different woman who gets kidnapped and brought to this place that trains women sexually then sells them. Each book has very different vibes but I’ve loved them all.

This book follows Lavinia, our FMC, who has run away from an abusive man and now moves around singing in dingy bars to make money to get by. Nothing seems to be going good for her so she decides to take her life but little does she know that Dorin, our MMC, has been following her and plans to take her for himself after hearing her beautiful voice. Dorin saves her and takes her to where he works. Lavinia believes she’s at a mental health facility until Dorin continues to give her some strange therapy sessions.

This book was written so beautifully and I absolutely loved both of these characters. We met them in the previous book but getting more in depth with their inner dialogue was really emotional and just sucked me into the story. Watching their relationship build throughout the book was just so interesting. Seeing Lavinia go from thinking this place is a mental health facility then truly seeing what it was….uhhhhh so good! Dorin….I wasn’t sure if he would grow on me from what I had read in the previous books but the way he is with her brought out his soft side and I LOVE his soft side!

Overall, I enjoyed this book SOOO much and would definitely recommend for anyone who loves pitch black romance with captive vibes! This whole series has just been so amazing and I really hope there’s more to come! I want a book for Mikhail!!!

Where do I even start?

My poor baby, Lavinia.. her story is just much sadder than I could have ever imagined!

I was dying to start this book and get started on it, but then I hit a huge block of anxiousness anticipating Lavinia’s pain! This book took me far longer to finish than I would have liked, but for all good reasons!
Ella’s writing drives me to feel so many emotions that I didn’t know I needed to feel!
Her telling of Dorin and Lavinia’s meeting and journey has really put me through the emotional rollercoaster!

These two deserve the happy ending and love that they found!

P.S. while this series is interconnected standalones, I highly recommend reading them in order! It makes the story lines and character development that much better!

I had been looking forward to this book coming out since I finished Book 2. And WOW, did Ella deliver!! This book was incredible. It is most definitely not for the faint of heart, so please check your TW before starting it. But I highly, highly recommend not only it, but the entire series.

Man this was a beautiful read! Even though that it was dark read. It hit me an all my feelings what Lavinia and Dorin had gone through ,so much pain, so much loss. They were just two lost souls one not knowing how to love and the another having so much love that it was hard to lose it. This one has become my favorite of this series.
