Sid Rivers and Jack Brown are two sides of the same coin. One is a lawyer with his own firm and dreams of money and power; the other is a criminal with a lengthy record and a quest for vengeance. When they meet, sparks fly. But was their meeting an accident? Or was it planned by the billionaires who want to control their destiny?
The Love of Wicked Men is an erotic journey into the underbelly of the legal profession, the corporate culture of profit-at-any-cost, and the secret world of industrial espionage.
IN THIS Sid Rivers has been very successful at helping his smaller corporate clients silence their critics and retain their profits. His success has caught the attention of a trillion dollar industry, and now Sid thinks he is about to realize a dream he’s held since childhood –unlimited wealth and unlimited power. Jack Brown stops in and robs the local Shop-n-Go and nicks Sid with his knife. He sets into motion a plan of revenge that has been smoldering within him for years. But his plan requires he get close to the same man who has become the representative of his enemies.
Great stories should not depend on gender or sexual preference of a character, but instead upon the strength of the characters and the honesty and urgency of the story. Brandon Shire proves he understands the complexity of writing LGBT fiction from two very different viewpoints – serious and smexy. His serious fiction is written for those who enjoy a book which explores life’s darker elements in a more literary form, while the smexy fiction is for those who enjoy a graphically erotic romance. Regardless of the differentiation above, Brandon writes for people who enjoy being challenged, and for those who strive to understand situations they don’t typically encounter. He pens raw, emotional stories about characters which readers will either love or love to hate. Life and love are pretty damned special, but neither is always perfect. Life can be painful, and real love hard to find. Brandon’s fiction is an exploration of the (sometimes) arduous search for happiness we all desire.

The Love of Wicked Men is a promising start to a new series. The blurb makes it clear. If you want law-abiding characters, fluff and sweetness, then look elsewhere because you won't find it here, that's for sure. The writing is very good and the entertainment value is pretty high. This first episode is anything but a bore.
I want to know more about Jack and Sid. There's some hidden agenda and I'm curious to see what they have to hide. The smexin' was nice but I'm hoping that Brandon is going to step it up a notch when these two guys will finally hit the sheets. I really want to see Jack and Sid do some wickedly bad things with their wickedly bad tongues and hands and other body parts.
Sid is an arrogant and self-absorbed asshole doing some shady business. Besides, I was extremely pissed off when he WTF? Ugh. Well, it suits his (current) personality. Funny thing is, I actually liked Jack, the alleged criminal, way more than Sid. Although I must say that Sid's derogative mind is a big asset to this series. He doesn't mince matters.
"Yes, sir. I'll text booking details for your trip." He loved her efficiency. He'd take her old wrinkled ass over a big-boobed, airhead secretary any day.
Jack…I'm not sure if he's such a bad guy. Maybe that's Also, I'd like to see more of Lori and Marty in future episodes.

In typical Brandon Shire form the writing is superb. In typical Brandon Shire form the dudes are very steamy. Not so typical is the gritty edge this story has. These guys are bad, maybe even deplorable, but that's what this is all about—loving to hate the wickedness.
Before I had even settled in, my head was whipped around with an out-of-nowhere plot twist. I did not see that coming and I think it's just a precursor of what to expect.
THE CHARACTERS
Sid - If you don't despise him right off I'd be surprised. Still...
Jack - He's still something of a mystery, but there's no doubt he's savvy and sexy.
THE STORY
This serialized erotic fiction focuses on Sid's law practice and his questionable methods. He also scratches a few itches that will probably make your skin crawl. For me though, I couldn't look away.
THE WRITING
As I said earlier, the writing is spot on. Shire's no fluff delivery is perfect for the nature of this story and I can almost guarantee a gasp, a grrrr and a unnnnhh or two.
Remember though, this is about corruption, bad boys and every man for himself. If you're looking for fluff, sweetness or tenderness look elsewhere.
As both a beta reader for this book and a moderator for Mr. Shire's Goodreads Fan Group I have become intimate with Sid and Jack—although there is still much to learn about Jack.
On the Goodreads group we're hoping for your input for this story while each episode is being developed. Join in the fun here: Brandon Shire Goodreads Group

I would like to thank Brandon Shire for providing me with an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
Ok see now this is what I'm talking about right here! A book about hot, burly men being really bad that's also well written? What is not to love about that? This is a serial I am actually willing to pay for, and 99 cents is cheap for the quality of writing and content received. Well done, and I cannot wait for more.
These are two of the grittiest, most raw, realistic characters I have come across in a long time. The extremely realistic portrayal of the dark underbelly of real life business is so good that it's actually frightening. I could not put this book down, I was sucked in and it didn't let go. Heck, it still hasn't let go, it's staying with me and I want more.
Sid and Jack are two of the darkest characters I've had the pleasure of reading in a while and it certainly doesn't help that they're hot men that know what they want and aren't afraid to get it, all else be damned. All of the characters are extremely well written and there are so many layers yet to explore in them! I can't wait to see how the other characters, some just as dark, or darker than Jack and Sid, play out, and I certainly can't wait until Jack and Syd 'have their moment' !!!!
I am so glad I went in for a 'serial' and then again I'm not because I now have to wait for the next one, but such extremely delicious waiting!
“It’s a front,” Jack said as he watched Sid through the window.
There is so much going on here.
From page one, the tension was on. Confidence in storytelling is when an author can drop me into the middle of a story, the lives of these characters, without making me feel lost. Done and done.
Further proof of cracking storytelling: Shire made me, not just not despise Sid and Jack but, like them. These two morally slippery guys, with complicated approaches in attempts to reconcile simple and long-lived motivations, had me investing over and over as I read this.
I love when things get tossed on their heads, turned around and upside down. There's a constant struggle and trade and scrabble for the upper hand. My own back and forth with Jack and Sid is fed by the details they reveal about each other, and only I know they know. Yep, one of those.
The mystery? Well, color me all shades of the rainbow intrigued. Where is this all going? What about Marty and Lori, what are their stories? And the quote up there? This just might explain Sid missing a clue. And Jack, he thinks he knows but... see? Told you, it's one of those.
Brandon Shire's writing in this is as smooth as ever, moving along at a fast clip without missing much of the beat. I'm moving right to episode two. I mean, are you kidding me? Ya dern tootin'!
God help me and these reading queues. Something else that has been on the kindle for 2 months!!
Wicked serialisation from Brandon featuring one of the most repulsive and sleazy pieces of lowlife it's ever been my misfortune to encounter - step forward Sid Rivers, an immoral, corrupt (s'pose that goes hand in hand with being a lawyer sometimes...) vile predator who delights in ridiculing his partners (read hook ups, and poor Jason), thinks nothing of destroying people he considers 'white trash'...although that's exactly what HE is, and who may yet be brought down by the very person he is hungering to get a taste of...Jack Brown. And Jack?? Well, he is DEFINITELY more than he seems....Episodes 2 & 3 already loaded. Go get him Jack!! 4 stars.
I had the privilege of betaing this work for the author, thus my opinion may be considered biased. Yes, I am a fan of his writing, all of it. Still, here's my opinion on this particular story, if you care to know.
Throw together an unmitigated asshole, a very handsome and mysterious stranger, plenty of thrills, legal and otherwise, and what do you get? The perfect ingredients for the start of an exciting ride, that's what. Say, the beginnings of something like a mix of The Firm and The Pelican Brief. Very "Grishammy" but with the gay thrown in.
Demonstrating once more the range of talent he's capable of, Mr. Shire invites you, the reader, to give him ideas of what you think might happen next, where do you think this story or characters might go. He'll then work to incorporate those ideas into the story, which will be published as a series of short stories. Genius!
I look forward to reading each installment hot off the press, so to speak, when I get to beta it. *holding the back of my hand to my forehead* Ah, the suffering... Not! :-D
Hot, sexy, full of intrigue, mysterious characters (Jack!), and an arrogant asshole (You know who you are...Sid!). So, what's not to love? I really enjoyed this short read, and can't wait for more! :)
What an interesting gritty little tale this is starting out to be. Things are really just beginning to set up as we get an idea of the characters involved. I’m not quite sure how I feel about any of them at this point but get the feeling that might change a bit as the story unfolds.
At this point, Sid is a somewhat ruthless, power hungry attorney, not much on the up and up. He screws around with people, both in business and in pleasure. He is sneaky and manipulative, and while he seems to care somewhat about his work partner, he is keeping secrets from him as well.
Then there is Jack. Again, we get snippets but not enough of the whole picture to really fully understand what is going on. There are plot turns and twists that have you scratching your head. You think you know what’s going on, and then something changes, and you are off in a different potential direction. Jack and Sid are connected, but who is playing who? It seems Jack has the upper hand at the moment and more of an interest in things where Sid is concerned and may be an even bigger manipulator than Sid!
Sounds kind of crazy, but it is all very interesting and engaging. It reads very fast and leaves you wanting to jump right into the next installment. This is a serial, so for those who don’t like to wait for pieces, you might want to wait for the finished story. This one is also unique in that the direction of the story could change as the author receives feedback. I’ve never read anything quite like it before, and I’m looking forward to seeing where this one goes.
My first Brandon Shire book and I was not disappointed. This promises to be a great serial (except for the waiting). Both of these characters have hidden agendas...who's screwing who. I can tell this will be an "edge of your seat" kind of read with a dark gritty storyline.
Can't wait to know more about Sid and Jack. Two sexy shady characters. How often will these be released?
I got this as a freebie on amazon. I don't have anything too good or too bad to say about this short read. The author has successfully created a bastard MC. I can see there's a very strong and complicated plot coming. Since I have no idea how many episodes/parts in the whole story. I will wait until the story is finished, then I will decide if more money is worth investing.
ETA on 24.08.2015 Just finished reading season 1. OMG. I loved it so much. Totally 5* Give me season 2 now!
Sid Rivers, lawyer meets Jack Brown, criminal. What follows is the start of a complex relationship. In the first part of this serialized story, the two men reveal that not only are they wicked, but they want power, money, and vengeance.
Neither one of these characters are likable, but they are fascinating which makes me wanting more. This story has me hooked. I am looking forward to all the WTFs in the future.
Not a fan of the serialized publishing and the hefty pricing (there seems to be a discount offered on the author's own website). Of course, I didn't even realize that the series isn't finished until after I started :( The story seems interesting enough, though. Good suspense, too. There so few m/m authors who manage to surprise the reader with a plot twist or two that it's worth mentioning, I think.
Sid is a real prick. And by real I mean that I've actually known guys like him. Just when I start to warm up to him he does something to remind me that he's an asshole and I hate him again. And yet, he's entirely fascinating and I can't wait to read more...especially if something terrible is going to happen to him. :)
Clever, sexy, intelligent, great characters, loads of room for the plot to go anywhere. Don't be put off by it being episodes - worth the wait - or being set in the legal world - the tension and drama will get you,, even if you don't know one end of a legal brief from another.
Not a lot has happened in this first part, yet, but I love Sid already. Just getting to know Jack, but he is intriguing. I think I'm going to love this pairing.
This is my first foray into serialized fiction and I have to say, I quite enjoyed it. The mystery and intrigue will suck you in from the first couple of pages.
Sid is a lawyer. You get the feeling from the get go that he has and will do anything to make a ton of money and be successful. He’s present during a robbery of a convenience store but instead of feeling fear for the robber, Sid is immediately attracted to him. So much so that when the robber, Jack is arrested and taken to trial Sid claims to not be able to identify his assailant.
They end up going their separate ways but Sid can’t get Jack out of his head. We learn almost immediately Jack is not who he claims to be. There are so many questions. There are setups, fake identities, corruption, cover ups, any and everything you can think of that makes up a good thriller this book has. It is also, incredibly hot. Sid is so bad but during his sexual encounters you can see he does want to make his partners feel good. It’s not solely about his pleasure.
Jack and Sid meet up again towards the end of the book after Sid is roofied at a bar. Jack takes care of him but again you are left with knowing that something isn’t quite right. Jack seems to know where Sid is going to be. He seems to know A LOT about Sid and we know he’s investigating him but we don’t know why, yet. We are also left with wondering what side of the law Jack is working for.
Oh, man, do I feel dirty after reading this first episode. Dang! It’s a good dirty though. This is 100% gritty. These men are not do gooders. They aren’t out to save the world. They’re out to take as much as they can and to hell with everyone else. But the greatest thing about this is there is a reason they are the way they are. What’s going to keep people coming back, me especially, is trying to uncover the why. It’s going to be a great journey and I can’t wait for it to continue.

Anyone who knows me, knows I love B.S, he is one of my favorite authors. I like his diversity. He can write a tear-jerker, an angst book, and clearly about about arrogant assholes that I want more.
This novella was super good. It left me yearning for more. I kinda wish I would have not read it until it was at completion but I'm glad I did.
Sid is one of the most arrogant characters I've read about. OMG, the way he treats his bed partners is ridiculous. I mean, screw Paul I'm over him, but poor ex-virgin Jason. Goodness gracious, he literally sexed his body up and over. I felt so bad for Jason, no comfort afterwards, just left him there like a hooker on the street. SMH then you tell his mother! In Alabama really? I was literally laughing my ass off at his revelation.
I don't know what's Jack story but I can't wait until he breaks Sid ass off, it's going to be freaking epic!!!
Can I get you a snack? Something to drink? Please make sure all needs have been met before fastening your seatbelts. You’re about to go for one hell of a ride.
Before we begin, let’s get one thing straight. If you’re looking for a handsome hero or think this is good vs. evil, you would be wrong. No ‘good’ guys race in to save the day. As the title clearly states, these are Wicked men. You will meet big bad men who will do dreadful things while the high-speed plot takes you on a demon drop ride. Sound like fun? Yeah, I thought so too.
1.5 stars, mainly due to the fact that I had no idea what was going on.
It started off fairly normal but I quickly lost track of the plot, with the lawyer-y guy picking up prostitutes and sleeping with most things male. I had no idea if that was part of his investigation or he just liked to get laid.
Then the other guy and his following said lawyer. I was really confused by that bit. Wasn't he supposed to be a criminal? He wasn't acting criminal-y at all. And then that bit at the end just really confused me.
I was completely stumped. I don't know if I missed bits--huge chunks of this short story!!--or it just didn't sink in, what was happening, but it's fair to say I had absolutely no idea. I won't be continuing this serial.
The first installment in a series of 5 books. The story is being set up witht all the main characters. I am beginning to hate Sid and I have only read 1 book. I hated the way he treated the guys he picked up especially Jason. If I can get past my hatred of him, I will read further books in the seires.
It's liberating to read a story where both MCs are ruthless men capable of stepping over other people to get to their goal. Book 1 is just an introduction so I can't say much other than I'm quite intrigued by the chemistry between Sid and Jack as well as the schemes they're after that I'd certainly read the rest of the series.
This was good stuff. I enjoyed Sid and Jack and the story is very interesting so far. Sadly, I didn't realize it was serialized fiction or that it isn't finished yet. Looking forward to that, very much. :-)))
