Sometimes the greatest danger comes from within…

When Master Vampire Lucien Delgatto threatens her potential mate Wick’s life, Shape Shifter Andrea “Andy” McNeilly will employ a den of witches, a bedazzled thong, and her ability to shift into multiple animals to meet his demands. She plans to keep Wick safe—even if she’s not speaking to him. Lucien’s unwelcomed control over Wick's life has thrown Andy into a whirlwind of emotions.

Though Wick vows to do whatever it takes to earn Andy’s forgiveness and win back her trust, it may be too late. This recent conflict awakens something within Andy, an animal she’s never learned to control. For hidden beneath all her forms is a beast whose anger and brutality rivals none.

And she’s pissed.

When an author can make you loathe a character or two to your very core, they have done their job. If you are having a visceral reaction to events, personalities or even the dialogue that is just as strong as your connections to the heroine and other “good guys,” the author has done their job and this time out, J.C. McKenzie proved that she is totally and completely capable of causing her readers’ emotions to run wild. Beast Coast follows Andy as she struggles with her feelings and trust for Wick. He has hurt her before and as one of the Master Vampire’s executive minions, odds are very good he will do it again, and again.

When a wereleopard comes on the scene, Andy’s mountain lion purrs with delight and Andy isn’t too far from purring, herself. Tristan is kind, protective, handsome, and seems to know just how to make Andy feel special, and the big bonus? He is not under the vamp’s control.

Once again, Andy is forced to play the “do whatever degrading thing Lucien commands “ game and I could feel my hackles rise. And Clint? Just rip his filthy throat out, someone, please. I almost felt like I had to wash my eyeballs out every time he was in a scene.

Still, J.C. McKenzie has a fabulous tale to tell about a very strong shifter who must learn to control both her mind, her mouth and a new beast rising from within. What is Andy becoming, other than bait for more danger? A dark fantasy filled with more grit than a sandbox, more sexual innuendo than an R-rated movie and one tough heroine that deserves better.

I received this copy from J.C. McKenzie in exchange for my honest review.

Beast Coast (A Carus Novel Book 2)  J. C. McKenzie

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre:  fantasy paranormal. Romance

I loved the first book in this series, and as I’ve got the third for review now I bought this one. Yep, paid real money. Between review books and my KU subscription and the kindle free books I still manage to find ones I want to buy! Fellow book addicts will understand. This picks up where the last book left off, with Andy still owing Master Vampire Lucien a debt. It means she’s at his beck and call, and gets thrown into danger again and again.Between him and her job with the SRD its a good job she has shifter healing....

Its interesting that Andy is something special, a Carus, though they are so rare it seems no-one can really tell her much about what she is. She has three animals though instead of the usual one, her raven, the wolf who has determined Wick is her mate and a mountain lion. She’s in agreement with her wolf about Wick but....he’s under the control of Lucien, as the vampire has control over wolves, so Wick has to do as he’s ordered, and if that's harm Andy....well, he has no choice. There’s more in store for her too, in her quest for Lucien, her job with the SRD and the dangers she faces. Lucien does what she’s been dreading and makes Wick hold her down so he can blood bond her...fleeing Wick in horror and upset she meets another dangerously delicious shifter, Tristan and of course her lion puts in her claim. She’s torn between them both and I am too. I so, so like Wick, he’s been so patient and of course he can’t help having to do what Lucien commands but then I can see Andy’s fear over that.

Its another story of murder and mayhem, demons and disasters, and each mystery that gets solved seems to open up a channel for more to come. Its a fun read too, working out who or what is behind the murders and why, and there’s some sensuality and twist with the two possible mates.  What an awful choice to have to make. There are more great characters introduced and we learn a bit more about Clint, the man we met right at the start of book one, who proved to be Lucien's human servant. He’s a fun character, along with Andy’s new neighbours.

I really enjoyed this episode, an easy read and one that I want to do a back to back of when all books are out.

Stars: Four and a half, close to a five

Andrea (the heroine of this series) is wonderful and many of the secondary characters are as well but the disgusting Clint, Lucien and the enforced servitude demonstrated in this novel almost made me remove more than 1 Star.

The plot of this story as well as book 1 again is amazingly good, it saves the book IMHO since I have such a very strong dislike for Clint and Lucien. These are not characters you love to hate, these are just characters that disgust you and you really hate them. I am ready to see something more with our amazing heroine and much less (maybe none) of Clint and Lucien, throw in her hapless werewolf boyfriend whose only real strength is acting possessive and you have me wondering why I give it 4 Stars, then I remember the plot. That is why, at the bottom of any rating the story is always the prime thing and this IS a great story and I still have great hopes for the future of this series but I really came close to just making this a DNF (did not finish) due to my disgust with the way things went in the first chapter or two.

Bottom Line: Every book has characters good and bad but in my mind there is a line you can cross that makes some of the evil characters a bit too disgusting to consider them anything but distractions from an otherwise great story. this is where I am with this series, I love the heroine, I love the plots but we need to get some less slimy bad guys and enforced servitude plus gross humiliation have never been things to make a great book by ANY author. In spite of all this I still will be reading book 3 when it comes out mainly to see about Andrea and maybe hoping to see a couple of characters killed off to improve the series IMHO. The thing with a great plot is you don't have to write in sex scenes that add nothing to the story which is another reason I love this series, many writers today seem to think there is some magic number of sex scenes that must be included, fortunately if you wrote a great story/plot to begin with those will fall into place automatically almost and don't have to be forced.

Highly recommended with caveats above.

Goodreads win. WIll read and review once received.

So I will have to say I have not read the first book. I ended up going to look up reviews to get an idea of the first book before reading the second. This book started off getting my attention. It held my attention from the beginning to the very end. The characters in this book are developed well. I could definitely feel good about recommending this book to my friends. I can also say I plan to read the first book after reading the this one.

Beast Coast is the second novel in the Carus series, continuing from where the last book left off. A paranormal adventure, wrapped in slightly messed up romance and a big honking mystery, the novel is non stop action. It is a fairly light hearted read, but carries a slightly darker, deeper side of self discovery for the protagonist, which I think melded well.

Facing a vampire in his home territory, with his retinue nearby is never an enviable situation, yet this is where Andy chooses to be as we open the story, in hope of finally paying her debt off to Lucien, the Vampire Master of the British Columbia Lower Mainland so she can regain control of her life. Things take a turn for the worst however, as Wick, the werewolf, she believed could be her new mate, is forced to hold her down while Lucien feeds and makes a blood bond, effectively giving him control over her body and thoughts if he wishes. Unsure who to trust she flees and avoids Wick at all costs. Soon she has a mission from the SRD, giving her a diversion for her frustrations, but also putting her in the path of sexy, enigmatic Tristan, a were-leopard, with eyes for her.

The rollercoaster of her new life begins!

Written in the first person voice of Andrea "Andy" McNeilly, a shifter with multiple forms, this novel tells the story of her latest adventure, along with a deeper look into her past. This time we met more species of supes and deepened knowledge of others, particularly vampires. For the most part Andy's voice is humorous, in-for-a-penny-in-for-a-pound, but has a darker side of desperation and loss just under the surface.

I particularly enjoyed reading the mysteries, trying to solve them before Andy (yes, I know when supes are involved it's nearly impossible, but a girl can try!) and getting a deeper look into all the things that live in that universe, things that even if they didn’t pop up this time we may get a chance to see in future books.

The interludes with the potential men in her life broke this up nicely, they both got steamy at times, but also had fun and showed more of their inner natures. This left me thoroughly divided on who she should mate, a vast difference from the first book where I assumed Wick was the guy for her. I did however have one problem with the romance, when the boys got together, even if danger was afoot, they really did turn into boys – jealous, self-important boys who were too busy chest beating over Andy to see what was going on around them. At times it made me want to kick them both out and go see the witches across the hall from her apartment!

When it all gets too much, Andy takes a break up in the mountains, where her animals truly thrive. I enjoyed seeing these in their full glory, getting time to learn more about how she works, without doing it while she fought off half the town!

Soon the mystery becomes serious with attacks on people, with both supes and humans suffering the consequences. Andy is forced to go way beyond what she's comfortable with, both as Lucien pulls her strings with his newly acquired bond, and her sense of duty overcomes her reluctance to do many things. It's exiting and tense, drawing the reader along for the ride as the big bad is revealed and Andy discovers a new side to herself.

The ending was exciting, but left many open doors, I look forward to seeing how these are used in future books. In particular I want to see how Andy's new knowledge of herself affects the choices she makes when it comes to who to follow or believe in.

The 411
Overall. I found this to be a fun, sexy adventure with a wide variety of supernatural creatures. The mysteries were intriguing and gave me clues to mull over as I read. I particularly liked Andy's self discovery and the cryptic elders teaching her.

I found the constant chest beating matches between her love interests became a bit too much at times, and didn't serve to increase my interest in one relationship or the other.

Overall I give this a 4.5 adjusted to a 4 for reviewing sites

This is the second book in the series. Shift Happens is first and I would recommend reading them in order.

I was pulled in from the very beginning and I stayed entranced until the end.

Andy is the carus and has more than one fera (animal spirit guide) and can assume their shapes. In this book we find out that she can have even more feras then she already has.

She has two potential mates and she is torn between them. They are both Alphas! Wick is a werewolf with an allegiance to Lucien, the vampire. Wick is given an order and cannot fight the compulsion and does something that puts Andy in a closer relationship with Lucien than she ever wished to be in. She can not seem to forgive him. Not that I blame her. Later, he is caught in a precarious position and their relationship is put even more at odds.

Tristan is a wereleopard. Her feline fera wants him as her mate. After what Wick did, Tristan is looking pretty darn good. However, she doesn't know him very well. If Wick could hurt her and there are things that she doesn't care for about him. There has to be things about Tristan that are less than perfect too. I have a feeling that we will find out more about that in the next book. Bring it on!

I am torn between the men. I like different things about better about both of them but I don't fully trust either of them.

Andy also has a demon who is sniffing around her. He is sexy in a creepy kind of way. ;-)

She gets new neighbors and that is pretty comical. I love the pranks they play. LOL!

We also get a glimpse of the beast that resides inside of her and represents her dark side. I wouldn't want to mess with her and I'm thinking that you wouldn't either.

There is a new beast in town as well. Weird things keep happening and it takes quite awhile for her to figure out what is behind it and how to fix the problem that has been put on her shoulders by her favorite vampire.

She gets a little more information about being carus but there is still much more to learn. It makes her testy that everyone seems to know more about her than she knows about herself and no one seems to be forth coming with said information.

I love J.C.'s writing style. She easily blends humor, sass, excitement, some lust (not really acted on), betrayal, mystery, action, various supernatural beings with her own twists to them making them new and unique, agendas, great characters, ....... I really could just keep on going and going.

This series is easily one of my favorite discoveries this year.

I received an ecopy from the author in exchange for my honest opinion. I think very highly of this book, the previous book, and the author as well. I'd say that it was superbly fantastic and in a league of it's own. I can't wait to read the next book!

If you haven't read Shift Happens yet, you are missing out. It really is a series that is wholly it's own. I would compare it to Susan Illine's Sensor series in that it has many different supes, it is unique and it is awesometastic.

Beast Coast by J.C. McKenzie is the sequel to Shift Happens, and let me start off by saying that despite how much I loved Shift Happens, I loved Beast Coast even more. Sassy shape shifter Andy McNeilly tangles up with some sticky webs in Shift Happens, and those strands pull even tighter in Beast Coast. Lucien, master vampire of the British Columbia Lower Mainland, stakes (pun!) his claim on Andy. His bite gives him the power to control her – which he does. When he feels like it. Worse, Lucien also controls Wick, Andy’s hunky alpha werewolf and potential mate, which means Andy can’t completely trust Wick. Add in a mysterious superpower murdering supes (short for supernatural creatures), a sketchy assignment from her even sketchier boss, mischievous witches next door, a sexy wereleopard out to win her heart, a demon who gets off on dancing, not to mention her own enigmatic nature to figure out—yep, Andy has a full plate.

Andy’s POV is the best thing about the story. She’s laugh out loud hilarious, tough, snarky, and I just want her to be my BFF. She’s facing a lot of trouble and tackles all her problems head on, which I love. And she doesn’t pretend to be anything other than herself. She’s honest, even when it hurts, and stands up for what she believes is right…even when it would be easier to keep her mouth shut. Then, there’s her love knot, and it’s a doozy. In Shift Happens, she totally fell for werewolf Wick. Can’t blame the girl. He’s protective, sweet, honest, and ultra-patient. Did I mention sexy? Oh yeah. But Lucien controls him. In other words, Lucien says the word, and Wick has to obey…not even his love for Andy can stop him from taking her down if Lucien commands it. Trust really isn’t the issue because Wick doesn’t want to do anything to harm her, but he can’t refuse. Definitely a big issue. Then, there’s Tristan the delicious wereleopard. Now, if Andy was a normal shifter, Tristan wouldn’t have a chance, but since Andy has three different feras (which means she has three different forms she can shift into: wolf, cougar, and falcon), she has some decisions to make. Her wolf wants Wick. Her cougar wants Tristan…and Tristan isn’t controlled by any blood-sucking vampire. Extra points for him. Tough choice (although I’d personally go with Tristan. He purrs. :)).

Beast Coast is a fabulous continuation of Andy’s story and takes us a step further into figuring out exactly what she is. Non-stop action, kick-ass heroine, two tempting love interests, and a whole lot of supernatural excitement. Five ++ stars!

Good but frustrating.

Beast Coast

I absolutely adored the first book of this series, except the way it ended. Because I loved Wick & it was barely a HFN ending.

The second one barely had Wick on the page, especially after the first or second chapter. Only a few text messages to a character other than the heroine, Andy. Only one or two to Andy herself. I didn't like that. I have never been into the love triangle so I didn't like when Tristan got page time & Wick didn't.

I especially didn't like the date with Tristan or the way she reacted to him physically. It was like she was cheating on Wick. I should say I felt like that.

The rational part of me gets it. It fits her character that two of her animals would be drawn to potential mates. But I don't like it. I fell in love with Wick in the first book & I don't want Andy to be into being torn like she is.

I love the heroine's snark & the sexy moments have so much potential it leaves me wanting more. More than the books contain at this point.

I think these books are not really romance. They're just romantic elements.

Good story, solid writing just leaving me in a place where it doesn't satisfy me as a reader. Between awesome & meh, I guess, because it's nowhere close to bad. I enjoyed it. Just want more of what I'm looking for & expecting in a romance I guess.

I loved the mystery & her working the case & there are too many laugh out loud moments to count. That's the genius part of the writing. I couldn't put it down. Had to know what happened but at the same time I was afraid to read more cuz I didn't think it was gonna be what I wanted.

As the book continued I loved the action & interaction with other characters but I couldn't stomach the intimate scenes with Tristan. Really made me want to put the book down I so dislike them together.

I did like Sid tho. There were more crack up moments there as well.

The more I read the more pissed off I got about Wick. I guess I like this book a whole lot but I didn't like the romantic elements at all.

I do have to say that the imagery is almost as good as the humor in this book. The of metaphor and simile always made me giggle. It's pretty freaking fantastic.

Didn't like how it ended. Don't like the idea of Andy with Tristan at all.

There is some great character development in BEAST COAST. Most importantly revolving around Andy. We get a glimpse of who the 'beast' is inside of her as well as learn more about what it means to be a Carus and how important it is for her to grow into her role. I really hate that she keeps getting trapped by Lucien. The girl can't catch a break no matter what she does where he's involved and I'm kinda ticked off for her. There's still a lot of questions that need to be answered, but it's nice to see movement and development in each book.

The love triangle continues. Both Wick and Tristan pull her towards them and she doesn't know exactly what she wants. It's clear if she chooses Wick, as Lucian's wolf, he could hurt her more than he already has and he would have no way to stop it. She doesn't really know Tristan or if he would change his player ways to be with her so she has a hard time jumping into something with him. I personally like them both as potential love matches for her although there are things about both that I like and dislike. I hope the love triangle isn't too dragged out though, as that would become tiresome. I also REALLY hope another possible mate isn't introduced, I'm not sure I could take it if she has to pick 1 of THREE (or more) and I'm not really into group relationships. Ugh that would suck.

I feel like I must add this. Funny enough, I didn't totally hate Clint like I did in book 1. He isn't my favorite person or anything, but you get a glimpse of another side of him in BEAST COAST. Not sure where that will lead though.

All in all, I enjoyed the second installment of the Carus Series. We learn more about pretty much all characters involved in the series so far and, new, fun characters are introduced. We also continue to learn more about the world. This is really a great series so far and I will continue to read.

Sassy, snarky action, packed with wonderful one-liners and irreverent laughs, J. C. McKenzie delivers a wonderful paranormal romance in Beast Coast. Move over, Sookie Stackhouse. Andrea McNeilly is officially my new favorite supe.

In this second book of her Carus series, McKenzie amps up both the action and the sexual tension between her characters, giving alpha werewolf Wick a run for his money in trying to woo Andy. Sexy werepanther Tristan wants Andy to be his mate, and he has the distinct advantage of not being beholden to a sadistic vampire. Plus, Andy still needs to figure out just what kind of shifter she really is before she can worry about mating with either of the sexy alphas. Oh, and then there's her job, as an agent for the Supernatural Regulatory Division, causing stress and headaches.

I love the first person narrative, because Andy has such a snarky voice. She describes people and emotions in terms of their smells, which seems so totally perfect for a Shifter. I know some reviewers have taken issue with the love triangle, but it happens, it's a thing, deal with it. That aspect kind of reminded me of the Chris Pine movie, This Means War, although I picture Wick more as Alexander Skarsgard (Norse god, right?)

Who will she choose? Will she find the suspect she seeks, or solve the mystery of who's attacking supes? And will she finally figure out what "Carus" means? So much to figure out, so little time. SUCH a great read!

5stars and totally recommend. If you enjoyed Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse series (think True Blood), you should love J.C. McKenzie's Carus series.

This book did a great job of getting my attention and keeping it—it also had the bonus of being cute and giving me laughs. While some parts reminded me of other series, it was like an amalgam of parts I like without some stuff I did not. Andy is not a normal shape-shifter. She is a Carus, which seems to be a shape-shifter to the Nth degree—who history says have great power and a short shelf-life. I adore Andy, her snark, sense of humor and personality despite surviving a horrid past. Seeing who was behind the attacks was pretty nifty as the mythology/lore behind it was borrowed from a culture not used much in this genre. The only thing that I was not wild about was the love triangle as I am not partial to my emotional angst being in that flavor. This is the second book of the series and could stand alone, but after you read it you will want to read the first one along with the next.

Going straight from book one we find Andy closer to the Master Vampire Lucien than she ever wanted to be. She's still reeling from how Wick treated her while he was under Lucien's control. Understanding that Wick only did it because he was forced to does not help her feelings nor her animal spirits feelings. Her wolf still thinks of Wick as her mate but Andy's other two animals don't agree, especially when her cat gets a whiff of Tristan. Tristan is the alpha of the local wereleopard pack and his cat is screaming "Mate" just as loud as her cat is.
While Andy is helping Lucien she is also discovering more about herself and what a Carus truly is. Taking on another animal is the last thing she wants but when it happens she has mixed feelings and way too many voices in her head.
Finding out who is putting all the non-humans in danger is Andy's new job but when it comes time to put herself in harms way, all the men in her life step up to give her all the numerous reasons why they think she shouldn't do it.

I love this book it picks up where the last one left off. You have all of your favorite characters back! Andy is back at it only this time fate throws her a curve ball she wasn't expecting. Andy is summoned to Lucians lair along with the Wick. Only Lucian does a blood tie with her without her consent and worst of all he forced Wick to help. After all is said and done she is forced to go with Clint to vampire summit and on the way they are attacked by possessed humans. At the summit she meets a demon who wants her. When they get back home more possessed humans are attacking supes. She is put in charge of finding out who is ordering the attacks. On top of all this she has Tristian and Wick trying to win her heart. When she finally finds out who is behind all the attacks will she be able to control the beast to win? Or will all be lost with her? This book is great I am so in love with Wick and Tristan!! I give this book a 5 fang review. Reviewer for PRAATR.

As a lover of Urban Fantasy, I was easily drawn into Andy's sarcastic wit. I enjoyed her confidence as a heroine, and it was refreshing how she was able to take care of herself and didn't require either of the Alpha males that were dogging her heels to get her out of the binds she got into. The storyline moved along well and kept me interested to find out what happened next. I was especially impressed with the descriptive details at the 'end scene' (I'm omitting saying more to avoid giving out any spoilers) and it left a lot open to move into book 3 (which I'm assuming is the authors intent). I'm not one to usually read books about 'shifters' but found I really enjoyed this book. I gave it four stars only because I've not read book 1, so there were a few things about secondary characters that weren't entirely clear to me, but that is most likely because I haven't read book 1 of this series- but I plan to seek it out now!

Great addition to the series. Just as good if not better than the first book. Once again the story full of action, mystery, suspense, witch's, demon's, vampire's, betrayal, humor and more all woven into a very entertaining and enjoyable story. Add in Andy's sarcasm and attitude and it's an all around fun listen.

Never make a deal with a vampire. It's never going to end well.

Still not liking the whole love triangle.

Laurel Schroeder does the narration once again for this series. Again she does a great job. Clearly spoken. Smooth even pace. Pleasant voice. Wide variety of character voices. Love the way she brings out the humor and sarcasm of Andy. Always a pleasure listening to her narrate a story.

Really enjoying the supernatural stuff in this series, more specifically, the way the protagonist can shift into different animals! That's just SO COOL.

As for the rest, the love triangle is kind of meh. I get the idea she's going to end up with the wolf eventually, but to be honest I don't really like either of her suitors at this point. I think that may be because they're basically throwing themselves at her feet and there is no challenge on her part whatsoever. She also should have made her choice by now, it's kinda lame the way she keeps them both hanging.

The book was too short in my opinion. It's also fast-paced and there's quite a bit of action which I liked. It wasn't ever boring. Kudos for that.

On to the next!

This is definitely up there as one of my favourite series, and probably really a 4.75 stars.

I particularly like the character who is realistic, completely likable, and ironically, has real, live human faults and strengths. The supporting characters are good, and I particularly like some of the fresh characters injected into the novel, and the appearance of new facets which continue to bring more verve into the novel.

The story and mystery are well integrated, as are the variation in characters and supes.

Can't wait for the next novel, this author is definitely a great addition to the power of indie.

A beast whose anger and brutality rival none is hidden beneath Andy’s other forms and it’s been awakened and she is pissed in this thrilling urban fantasy romance. I couldn’t help but get caught up in Andy’s fascinating world and her quest to discover who and what she is which adds depth to the story along with her emotional turmoil over the men in her life. The story has lots of strong compelling characters and interesting elements and I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

4 ½ STARS

Here in part two there is a brief touching on happenings from book one. Not enough to drag on but just enough to refresh your memory. Things get a bit deeper and gloomy for a moment. Andy has a difficult triangle happening between Wick and Tristan. It doesn't help that her wolf and cat don't see the same guy being her mate. Some of the things Andy deals with are simple to handle and others are super difficult. Following her as she deals with all of this keeps you reading. Andy still hasn't lost her smart aleck personality. Love it. I was given this story for an honest review and this is mine.

Beast Coast is #2 in the Carus series by author J.C.McKenzie.

It continues on with the story of Andy McNelly, special agent, trio shapeshifter...and something....more. (Or maybe that should say something...else? Hmmm.)

Anyway, I said it about the first book, Shift Happens, and I'll say it again here... I love the characters in this series. Wick, Clint, Sid and Tristan(mmmm).

Ms McKenzie drops in subtle bits from Shift Happens so that you can read this as a stand alone, or as the followup to book #1. But do yourself a favour and read them both.

I am abso-freaking-lutely in LOVE with this series! I cannot even begin to describe how in love with Andy, Wick, Tristan, Clint, and Allan. This world that the very talented J.C. Mckenzie has created is absolutely AMAZING. There was never a dull moment for me reading "Shift Happens" & "Beast Coast".
The idea of the Carus is very interesting and I am extremely excited to see how it progresses with Andy.

I HIGHLY recommend this book/series! I have not been disappointed one bit so far!
Rated: 5 Absolutely Bad ass Carus stars!

I read the first book in the series and the second book is a nice continuation. The main character kicks butt and shows she's not a victim. The story was nice and fast paced, holding my attention the entire time. I like the dialog with how the characters interact with each other.

The narrator is the same from the first book and I thought she was a good choice. She does the male characters very well.

I love the plots to the Carus series and find the heroine easy to relate to. The only thing I did not like about this one was how easily she handled being an Ualida when no other carus before her could do it without going berserk. In fact, she handled it so easily that she could have a conversation while in that form. I get that this is a paranormal romance / fiction book, but J.C. could have made her have a bit more trouble than she did handling the Ualida transformation. That is my only complaint about this book and I do plan to read the next one in the series.

what a great continue of Shift Happens extremely well done even if it did not tell about Andy's parents. This story was about all the fera's and he beast within it's alot about what was hanging in the first book which was ok as this way we got to see where Andy was coming from and the story line with what happened to Dylan i thought it was very well written and would recommend any fan to read these stories back to back so you can get the whole story hope to read the next installment

There's a crowd, four's a crowd...

A tangled web of shifters, humans, and rare supernaturals that I haven't read about in other novels results in an excellent tale of power, love, and intrigue. Andy makes her living apprehending criminal supernaturals and works for a special agency to police them. She is also able to shift into multiple animals which gives multiple personalities a whole new meaning! This is a really good adventure and a lot of fun to read.

I thoroughly enjoyed Beast Coast the second book in the Carus novel series! Andy has a lot on her plate between the vampires, the SRD, and her personal life which put together makes a great story that pulls you in, keeps you turning the pages and not wanting to put it down! I would give it more than 5 stars if I could!
