It’s a backwards kind of case for the Paul Zacher Agency. Naming the culprit is easy, but what’s the crime? And why is Paul’s old nemesis, Antonio Trujillo (Brushwork) on the streets again? Life was so much simpler without him. When the kinky tastes of a state governor open the door to an environmental disaster of cosmic proportions, Paul Zacher and his friends come up against a sinister conspiracy of government and industrial plotters. When they launch their secret weapon at Paul personally, a diminutive blonde with spiky hair and impossibly short skirts, Maya takes the field with deadly results.
It’s vintage Zacher from start to unpredictable finish in this Murder in México mystery #8
John Scherber, a Minnesota native, settled in México in 2007. He is the author of 15 Paul Zacher mysteries, (The Murder in México series), set in the old colonial hill town of San Miguel de Allende, as well as his three award-winning nonfiction accounts of the expatriate experience, San Miguel de Allende: A Place in the Heart, Into the Heart of Mexico: Expatriates Find Themselves Off the Beaten Path, and Living in San Miguel: The Heart of the Matter. In addition, two volumes of the Townshend Vampire Trilogy have appeared, and a paranormal thriller titled The Devil’s Workshop. His work is known for its fast pace, irreverent humor, and light-hearted excursions into the worlds of art and antiques––always with an edge of suspense. Neither highbrow nor lowbrow, his books are written as entertainments and dedicated to the enjoyment of reading. While he has acknowledged being no single one of his characters, he also admits to being all of them.
The case seems bizarre, yet intriguing A man fell asleep, car accident Which require reconstruction of face Parts burn so hands were burned Where is the car, paid car and gone Worked on his own mostly so no One could vouch for him Then murdered happened Unusual and how they figured it out Corruption to the hilt, enjoyed
Mexico is real. Inhabited by real people. These stories are enjoyable......and remind me fondly of all the trips to a truly great nation. Read the series from the beginning and enjoy. For me.....on to volume 9.
