Her husband Marcus is a healer to many, but behind closed doors, his obsession with control runs deeper than anyone could imagine. Naomi's sudden bursts of clarity are proving dangerous, and the truth she's desperate to remember might shatter everything.

The writing was crisp and clear as I got into this one. I was instantly intrigued by Naomi and Marcus and their relationship. There was an underlying hint of something dark that I wanted to uncover. Things between them did not seem to be as straightforward as they were trying to portray, and I was eager to find out why. The mystery continued to be just out of reach, and I felt so on edge as the story moved along. I couldn't quite put my finger on the truth, but I so wanted everything to be revealed. I enjoyed the way this story strung me along chapter by chapter. It was a unique plot, and I enjoyed the experience. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

This is one twisted book. I truly enjoyed every aspect of it. It is an interesting combination of paranormal and psychological thriller. There's so much I could say, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone. Just know you will be pleasantly surprised by this book.

Okay! I really liked this story of Naomi and Marcus. From the very beginning I didn't like Marcus. I loved the spiritual and old witchcraft aspects of the story. I do wish Brianna and her momma were brought in toward the end...because Brianna was already suspicious (she didn't like Marcus either) and checking in and so was her momma. Good read overrall though.

📖 Title: When Lies Forget
✨ Rating: ★★★★☆
📚 Genre: Psychological Thriller, Domestic Suspense, Speculative Horror
🕯️ Vibe: gaslit woman rage, psychic echoes, body-switching terror, and survival as reclamation

🖤 What I Loved:
Let me start by saying this: I never trusted Marcus. From page one, he was too calm, too controlling, and always one step ahead. The way he kept trying to mold Naomi’s body, future, and even her smoothies? Red flag city.

T. Ashley crafts this eerie fog where Naomi’s mind is in pieces, but you know deep down something is very, very wrong. And the way her family dances around the truth? Infuriating. Sometimes silence is its own kind of betrayal.

The book explores how women—especially Black women—are often gaslit out of their own instincts, told that love and control are the same thing. The themes of being pushed into motherhood, silenced under the guise of care, and manipulated through healing? So well done.

Madame Laveau and the psychic element?? OBSESSED. I was getting full AHS: Coven vibes and had to deep-dive the real figure. The paranormal-meets-thriller layering was 🔥.

And just when I thought I had it all figured out? BAM! T. Ashley hits with a twist that had me pacing the room. The body-switching plot?? The serial killer suspicion?? The ending?! I was screaming. I only wish we got a bit more on Marcus’ fate and a small epilogue showing Naomi thriving in full freedom.

⚠️ What Gave Me Pause:
Just a few unanswered questions (Marcus’s case, the other women). I wanted more resolution — but maybe that’s what makes it haunting.

📌 Read If You Like:
• Survivors taking back their stories
• Behind Her Eyes meets American Horror Story
• Thrillers that blur the line between mind and spirit
• When Black women refuse to be silenced

After a bit of doom scrolling, I saw T Ashley looking for arc readers and it seemed quite interesting..so I signed up..

Tw: psychological abuse, emotional manipulation, drug use and captivity.

When Mumma rings, it feels too convenient. Rather than a mother calling her daughter, out of genuine care or even boredom. Its a call out of "well Noami is having a questioning thought about her marriage, better call, tell her that the world is her oyster and bye." Its a bit clunky to read.

I'll be honest i was reading this after finishing a 30hr week and running on barely 6hrs sleep, so the first 26% were just words to me.

Having a "freaky Friday" moment was an interesting thing to play with. I did have to read that particular chapter a few times to understand what was happening.

Even though having the "freaky friday" device used, it kinda confused me. I can see what the author was trying to do but for some reason it was like tripping up stairs to understand. Like I know it helps the story but there's something that's just making it a little too difficult for it to click.

Overall the story isn't too bad of a read. Its an interesting story tatic being used in an unconventional way. A good little fast read.

This book grabbed my attention from the beginning. What starts as a picture-perfect life quickly turns unsettling. Naomi’s world slowly unravels as she struggles to make sense of fading memories and hidden truths and I felt every ounce of her fear and confusion. The tension is nonstop, the twists are satisfying, and the suspense kept me glued to the pages. T. Ashley does an amazing job making the suspense personal, this isn’t just a thriller, it’s a story about trust, love, and the fragility of the mind. Definitely a dark, chilling and twisty read I couldn’t put down!

the twists and turns

I went into this book blind and it pleasantly surprised me. I love that we meet Naomi as she kind of wakes up from this perfectly crafted life. She then goes on a hunt to figure how the hell she arrived here. The story was crafted beautifully and in a way the sucked you in. I also was not expecting the touch of paranormal but, it gave the book a little zest which I enjoyed.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Was compelled to keep reading and super annoyed life made me adult. I felt the characters were well written and fleshed out nicely. I paced and made noises throughout reading as I was pulled into the story. This was my first book by this author and I will absolutely be picking up other books!

4.5 stars for me. The relationship between Marcus and Naomi captivated me from the very 1st chapter. The authors writing style is vivid as well as concise, which created great pacing throughout the story.

Each short chapter had me in a chokehold because it screamed danger. This was my first book by this author and I look forward to reading more of her work.

I enjoyed the premise and the psychological tension between Naomi and Marcus, but I was hoping for more of a thriller pace. The romance elements were prominent, which slowed the suspense for me. Still, it was an intriguing read with some clever twists.
