A new erotic story from the author of THE PLEASURES OF WINTER, THE PLEASURES OF SUMMER, THE PLEASURES OF AUTUMN and THE PLEASURES OF SPRING
Evie Hunter is actually two authors Caroline McCall and Eileen Gormley who met at a creative writing workshop in Dublin in 2010. On discovering that they shared a passion for erotic fiction, they became the best of friends. In early 2012 they got a chance to co-write a series of erotic novellas for an American publisher. When they completed the second one without killing each other, they decided to take on something bigger. Eventually, they emerged into daylight, clutching THE PLEASURES OF WINTER, saying 'Never again' ... until the next time.
Since I finished reading The Pleasures of Spring, I’ve been having Evie withdrawal symptoms. With the four seasons of pleasure all used up I was afraid that there would be no more. I’m happy to discover I was wrong.
A Touch of Passion popped onto my kindle yesterday and I haven’t been able to put it down. I love the way Ms Hunter intrigues us by introducing a minor character in one book and giving them a story of their own later on.
Gabriel Bertrand first appeared in The Pleasures of Autumn. Kinky, amorous Frenchman and on-again off again boyfriend of the heroine. Last seen, he was in hospital in Paris, recovering from a beating he took to save the girl. A Touch of Passion picks up his story a year later.
Gabriel is no longer the life and soul of the party, but a scarred, embittered choreographer who has sworn off women for good. Then, he receives a wedding invitation from his former lover, who threatens to call the whole thing off if he doesn’t show up. He needs a wedding date. Fast. And he finds one in out of work actress Megan O’Malley.
Both Megan and Gabriel have a ton of baggage between them. She’s a BDSM virgin, with a taste for kinky novels. She also has a violent ex who almost destroyed her faith in men. Gabriel hasn’t looked at a woman in over a year, because none of them can compare to his former dance partner. Despite the physical attraction between them, neither are prepared for a relationship. In fact, they make this part of their agreement before they embark on what Gabriel calls ‘a liaison’.
Every night Gabriel dreams up a new way to drive Megan over the edge. He thinks he is in control, but boy is he wrong. And Megan, she has so much courage to overcome her fears and explore her fantasies with a master. HOT.
No spoilers. A Touch of Passion is a sexy, sensuous re-telling of Beauty and the Beast. Hunter has done a wonderful job with her unique mix of smoking smexy scenes and fast paced plot. Loved it and can’t wait to see what she does with the next one which is going to be called A Touch of Spice.
I found the background believable, characters intense, feelings described perfectly. "Beauty and the Beast" come to mind the main character was involved in an altercation scarring his face and chest. He was still beautiful on the inside and to Megan on the outside. If people could accept his physical imperfection, moving past shallowness you would find a wonderful guy made more perfect by his scars. In the beginning, he allowed his scars to define him in his line of work looks are everything. He had built quite a reputation for himself in the dance world he imagined the worst about people judging his face before getting to know him. He is in love with a dance partner from his past and the cause of his scars. She invited him to her wedding and his student told him he should good if only to put the past behind him. He asks one person she says yes but has been offered her drab of a lifetime and has to cancel. The good part is she convinces roommate too take her place. Megan helps him get past hours unrequited love. They experiment with BDSM agreeing to one week of experimentation. By week's end they have fallen in love.
The bad part of the book has to do with Megan's past relationship with an abusive boyfriend Brad. Brad shows up almost killing the main characters. Thank God the author allowed his capture and Megan fills out the necessary paperwork hopefully keeping him in a foreign country not getting out soon. How many woman are subjected to mental, verbal, emotional, physical abuse and don't make it out alive? Atleast this character did.
Loved this book. Secrets and mystery and of course hot and steamy scenes. Amazing who you fall in love with and what you learn that you have to leave behind and say goodbye. Love Evie Hunter. If you haven't read any of the books I recommend them all.
Conquering fears and starting over again...in a really sexy manner!!! After reading "The pleasures of Autmn",I was really happy that you gave Gabriel a story of his own...he so deserved it after all he suffered. With "A Touch of Passion" we get a beautiful, sensitive and extremely sexy love story between Gabriel, the gorgeous, sensual Frenchman and Megan, the beautiful petite dancer. Both struggling with secrets of the past which had scarred them, they learn to let go and move forward by giving into new desires which eventually lead to love.I adore ALL of Evie Hunter's books, this last one touched my heart a wee bit more. You've got my 5 stars hands down!!!!
I really liked this book, it was very well written. The romance was nice and it had enough suspense to keep the story moving. I definitely want to read more from this author.
